had a very negative experience at this restaurant. When I called to place my order, the first thing they asked for was my name, which I provided, followed by my order (a pho and a wok dish). When I arrived for pickup, I gave my name again. The staff member, Noah Binh, asked me to confirm the order and mentioned "a wok," which sounded correct at the time, but I did not hear the rest. They then handed me the bag. When I arrived home, I discovered the order was completely wrong -- it was someone else's order (two wok dishes, no pho). When I called the restaurant, the first woman I spoke with seemed to imply that I picked up the wrong food myself, rather than acknowledging that they gave me the incorrect items despite me giving my name twice. Only when I spoke with Noah did I finally receive an apology. He said he "tried calling me," which I doubt, and offered a refund, but I simply wanted my correct order. I drove back to return the wrong food and pick up what I originally ordered. However, I had been charged $37.86 for the other person's order instead of $33.10 for my actual order (as shown on my receipt). When I asked for the charge to be corrected, I was told only the manager could fix it and that I would receive a call the next day. No one ever called back. This is the second time they have made mistakes with my order. After this, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

A hidden gem that I return to again and again - food is really good, and at a good price compared to other Vietnamese places! I always get the pork vermicelli bowl, which is great and a good portion; sometimes I can even spread it across two meals. There's seating inside, but I usually do take out. The BEST part about Lien's is that is feels quaint and familial. It's like you're supporting a family friend when you come here. There are so many sweet moments, like the covers on the teas/speciality drinks (pictures), the homemade taro and plain rain chips, and they even sell hallmark-esque cards. It does take a bit to receive your order during lunch rush, but the entire staff is so kind and helpful. I highly recommend this spot for brunch! It's a hidden gem in the Museum District. My favorite dish is the ribeye with eggs, spam, and potatoes served on a sizzling platter, accompanied by a hot baguette with butter and pâté--also known as bò né. Was googling Vietnamese food in the med center for lunch and found Lien's Viet Kitchen. It's closer than tracking out to midtown and the food was surprisingly delicious! I got the lemongrass tofu vermicelli with pork eggrolls and it was fantastic. Just what I was looking for! I find that Houston really doesn't serve fresh Vietnamese herbs with their vermicelli bowls and I feel it adds so much flavor. But most places here just do shredded lettuce, cucumbers and pickled veggies. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the eggrolls crispy and flavorful and the lemongrass tofu was good. I find myself craving vermicelli bowls from this place often but unfortunately they aren't open on Sundays, which is when I want it most. They also make their own fresh baguettes for Banh mi and their Banh mi are a good size. I always say I want to try them, and my coworkers love them, but love the vermicelli too much! So happy to find delicious Viet food close to the med center! The interior is cute and cozy, and the staff was very friendly. I got the vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and I loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about Lien's Viet Kitchen! I must confess at the time of writing this review, I've been back three times. Lien's has not disappointed yet. The first time I came was on a whim after leaving a work conference at NRG having skipped lunch, I was craving some solid Vietnamese cuisine close by for a late lunch. I looked at a few nearby spots and decided that Lien's looked pretty enticing. I drove up and was lucky to get the last space in a rather small parking lot. I walked in and was greeted by the welcoming staff. The person working up front graciously told me to take my time and was patient with my questions. After putting her through my basic but hopefully accurate attempt to articulate my order in Vietnamese (always trying to get my practice in), I sat down and waited for the Tofu bánh mì and House Special Combo Pho that I had ordered. Yes, I was starvin' like Marvin, so I was hoping for something extraordinary. I was not disappointed at all. The bánh mì was exquisite, with heaps of savory tofu that must have been marinated in heaven. Combined with the cucumber, carrot, butter, pate and cilantro it all came together in a crescendo of mouthwatering synergy enveloped in a crispy phenomenon. I felt like time slowed down and I could hear and see each flake of bread as it crumbled into my mouth. Let's just say I was impressed! I devoured it wholeheartedly. After polishing off the bánh mì, ít was time to call on the reservoir of hunger I would need to finish this bowl of pho. Within a few tastes of the broth, veggies and lime, I knew I was in pho a treat! I lost track of time, as I worked my spoon and chopsticks in unison to grab every last noodle, meat and veggie in that bowl. When I came back to my senses, the bowl was completely empty and dry. I walked out of there in a daze, thinking about the deliciousness I had just experienced. Needless to say, I had to return with friends and indeed I did twice. The best thing about coming with a group of friends is that you can eat family style, so I was able to taste a variety of dishes. To date I have also had the Grilled Pork bánh mì, Beef Stew, Grilled Pork Vermicelli, Shaking Beef, Shrimp and Pork Spring Roll, and Ca phê sữa đá (Vietnamese Iced Coffee). I have enjoyed every thing I have ordered so far. I look forward to returning to do some more gastronomical research and write another in depth review. The service is excellent. I live nearby so I've been here probably close to 20 times now. Overall it's a good spot for a quick lunch. I mostly get the Pho or Bahn Mi sandwiches. Both are solid but not the best in Houston. The prices are reasonable yet a couple bucks higher than most Pho places in Midtown or Asia Town. One time I received Pho broth that wasn't quite hot enough and another time the inside of the Rangoons were slightly cold. While not perfect, I appreciate this place for bringing a good Pho option to the area. The staff is friendly and the ambience is welcoming and clean. read more

She tried to give me a little package. I told her that I would like the little . She did then told me "is the same thing" I said I prefer the other Container. She said "when people tend to take too much" as if all of this was coming out of her check. I I'm happy to pay $.10 for this little if necessary. She got it but not after lots of tongue, clicking, and eye rolling. I got spring rolls that were unfinished. Solid Vietnamese food. I was feeling a little sick so I came for some beef pho and it totally hit the spot. I've also had the vermicelli bowls. They're very large and I wish the vegetables were more plentiful and fresher but overall, not bad. I don't think the banh mi is very good. There are better options in the area if all you want is banh mi. I like the decor. It is casual without being rundown. It feels clean and bright inside. I've only gone during off peak times so it's never been packed. The employees are all Vietnamese and helpful. I rate it about 3.5 stars because there is so much competition in the area. I prefer lua viet's vermicelli bowls and go to thien an for banh xeo. But lien's is solid if you're nearby and crave Vietnamese food. read more

I have to deduct a star because the food is not consistent. The entrees are delish and very flavorful. My go to is the vermicelli bowl with the shrimp. The lemongrass beef is very good as well but sometimes you may literally receive two pieces of thinly sliced beef (like we did this past Friday night on a to go order) and sometimes you get a decent amount. I don't like inconsistency especially if you are looking forward to a dish you enjoy. The chicken broth based vegetable pho was really delicious. I will order that entree more often. This place is tucked away in a strip center next to a cleaners, so be mindful of limited parking. Especially if you are dining in during lunch hour. I have not been able to find this restaurant on ubereats or Grubhub which also sucks. Times I want to order in this place is not an option and I have to spend my money elsewhere. read more
