After an inspection by mechanics (the only problem was the touch screen on the stereo which quit working sometime back), she offered us $100 more than other business. We graciously accepted the offer. Even the person who sends payments to finance companies was chomping at the bit ready to send payment to VWFS to pay off the car She didn't even try to get us into another vehicle! She listened to us and followed through for us. By the time we left, our car was their property and we had a check in hand of over $2800 (the proceeds after paying VWFS just over $2600) Would we ever buy a VW again? Nope. No follow-up, no confirmation, no regard for my concerns. I still have no explanation for the overcharge and no reassurance about potential engine damage caused by their error. I had an offer from CarMax already, and since it's right across the street, it's no-harm, no-foul if this business didn't have the chops to compete. Well, they did; I got $2,000 USD more from here than I did at CarMax (which was already $4,000 USD higher than Vroom, $5,000 higher than Carvana, and $3,500 USD higher than Shift), in the same day, after arriving at 3:45pm, getting all of the paperwork signed, and getting my certified check in-hand by 4:20pm (nice). The business owner and check signers sit over in the Younker Nissan office down the street, and according to the sales staff, go home around 4pm, so make sure you arrive around 3pm to properly get your vehicle tested by their sales staff. If the business owner goes home (they can single-sign a business check), then two designated check signers have to sign off for the check to be considered valid; I deposited the check on a Friday, and by Saturday it cleared, so it's legit (They seem to bank through KeyBank, for what it's worth). Also - one thing I will say - they'll lowball the price you get from the Kelley Blue Book (KBB) offer. They initially offered me $3k less than what KBB's "instant cash offer" was (and only $500 more than CarMax), so make sure you know exactly what your car is worth. I still somehow gave them a $1500 discount from the instant cash offer that KBB had given me, but I was able to get them to pay me what I believed the car was worth at the time, and go home with more than what I would have gotten by going to CarMax. Basically: if you want less of a hassle, just go to CarMax. If you go here, DO NOT TELL THEM what your offers are, since they only seem to want to profit as much as they can off of you (and it's really slimy that they do - they sold my car for which is $8k more than I sold it to them for, so why do they care about a measly $1500?) If you sell your car here, you have to still file a "Bill of Sale" online on the Washington State Department of Licensing (WSDOL) website. If you already registered your car through License eXpress, then you can pay the fee online and report the sale that way. Also remember to de-register your car on the GoodToGo! Website (if you use a toll pass), as well as remove your car from any apps that reference your old plates (such as the PayByPhone app, the Parking Kitty app, or ChargePoint / EVGo).

Then the same lady made a comment about us being from Tacoma and how they have a problem with theft from that city. At this point we have been experiencing a few microagressions from the staff that we were just ignoring because I wanted a car. Then there was this guy who ignored my presence because (I'm assuming) his job doesn't seem to be centered around customer service. But how awkward and rude to just have me standing there waiting for help while you're doing nothing but casually chit-chatting with your coworker. Then he finally said something when my partner, who is tall and has a more aggressive presence, walked in. This employees whole tone was off. He also tried to act like he didn't know one of the gaskets were blown when my partner notified him (shady). Then he asked for my W-2 (in addition to check stubs) and said it was because they don't do a credit check. Then, in the same breath, he asked me what my credit score was. I gave him a weird look and said, "I guess you don't need to know since you don't do a credit check." After a long, awkward stare he said, "these are just questions we ask." But the thing is, no, you don't. You just told me you don't do a credit check so why ask me for my credit score? That means he, personally, just wanted to know. Weird and unprofessional. And let's be real if my credit was better, I wouldn't have been there, I would have head straight to a quality dealership.
