Just joined last week and I look forward to my workout every day now. The facility is massive. Equipment seems to be kept up well. I've yet to try the group classes or pool amenities, but the cardio, exercise machines, and free weights are great. Staff is very friendly as well. I've never been one to like the gym. I would go once or twice a week. I worked out enough to get a little winded on the treadmill and then would treat myself to eating out after. I decided to go with my husband and we signed up for boot camp classes with Ranae. Life has never been the same.... I have gotten to my desired weight. I have gained muscle mass. I have changed my eating habits, and I look forward to not only my boot camp sessions but my one on one personal training sessions with her. I am at the gym 5-6 nights a week. Believe me, if I don't show, she takes the time to contact me to make sure I haven't injured myself. Ranae is simply amazing! She's an awesome personal trainer. When I wanna stop, she pushes me. When I think I can't do anymore, she reminds me how far I've come. She's motivates, she listens, she'll teach you what you need to be the best you. This is my gym and I love it. Let me clarify this by saying I love it but not thrilled with the cost. I guess you pay for what you get. This place has everything you will ever need. Stretching area, tons of cardio machines you could imagine, workout machines, free weights, free exercise classes, open area for non weight bearing exercises, and lots of trainers. Oh yea and that's just upstairs. Downstairs has 2 basketball courts, 5 rock climbing walls, racketball court, indoor and outdoor swimming pools with slides, steam room, spa. Plus men's, women's, and family locker room with secure lockers, a great cafe with really good smoothies, daycare, and a spa with massages. What more could you ask for. It's very clean and maintained very well. I've never seen it dirty. Front desk is always friendly and greets you and wishes you a nice day when you leave. I like to go during the off hours so I can get my workout done and leave. I don't like to fight for the machine or get rushed to finish up on a machine. Boom bam and I'm done with my workout. So I love this place but wish it was cheaper. Anyways, if you see me during the off hours then stop by and say hi. I would love to meet my fellow Yelpers who also loves this gym. read more

The gym it's self is everything the membership fee is for--A+ equipment, pool, locker room, classes etc.The trainers are awesome! Where Life Time falls short is when it comes to childcare. I am extremely disappointed with how the childcare is ran/run and how little amount of hands on deck they have. In a daycare setting, there are laws about what the ratio is kid per child, just as there are for a licensed teacher in a classroom with kids. The first time I dropped my son off, I was astounded at how there were empty toys sitting out (doll house no dolls, Barn with no animals to put in it.) You expect toddlers to play with objects that have nothing to go in them? I had to ask the young worker to pull more things out for them to play with. Second time I went, they wouldn't let me stay with him and he was so upset, so I opted to not work out and stay to play with him and was informed that"you can stay for 10 minutes" is what I was told. Are you kidding me? that's my kid. And if I am willing to give up my own personal gym time to play with my son, and you are telling me I'm not permitted to stay with him? Where is it a written rule that a parent cannot stay the entire time with their child to play? If I am paying big bucks for this membership, I am more than entitled to stay and play with my child in the child area rather than allowing him to run loose around the hallway of the gym. The toys are broken and not anything current that kids play with. Disappointment. They never allow the toddlers to play on the little slide they have for them (it's always closed off) heaven forbid you have to have more supervision and help for those little toddlers who want to slide down the slide. Not happy. I expect more especially when it comes to the care and well being of people's children. How about paying workers who actually play with the kids and not sit there and watch them fight and push? Replacing toys that have pieces and parts to play with would be nice! read more

Love/hate relationship with this place. Love the fitness classes/hate that I have to get there a half hour early to secure a spot. Love the insane number of machines/equipment to choose from/hate that unless I'm wearing lululemon or a pound of makeup I stick out while I'm using them. (Whatever happened to showering AFTER the gym?) Love the size of the locker room & the supplies within it/hate the RIDICULOUS membership fee that makes me feel like I need to shower there as often as possible to attempt to get my money's worth. It's a modern, well-lit, open place, the equipment is maintained, it's not over-subscribed, and most of all, IT IS CLEAN. I used to belong to the LA Fitness at 20th and Camelback, and you can read my reviews to see why I felt compelled to leave. Lifetime is everything LA Fitness is not. Unfortunately that also means it's not close. I gladly drive the 15 miles or so up the 51 and across the 101 to get there a few times a week. The most expensive gym membership is the one you don't use. Lifetime is more expensive than LA Fitness or some other clubs, but keep in mind what you get: -real 24/7 availability -a good schedule of free classes -expanded childcare hours (and the children's area is like something from a dream. Rows of iMacs, a big habitrail, big-screen TV's showing Disney flicks, and actual gym classes for your kids) -pools both indoor and out, both with waterslides. The outdoor pool area is more or less like a resort. -a eucalyptus steam room -access to any of their clubs anywhere in the nation (I also use the one up in Colorado when I'm there) So with these items combined with the fact that my son and I love going there whenever we can, the monthly toll isn't that bad. This being North Scottsdale there is the expected assortment of posers of both sexes. They don't usually seem to get in the way of anything. Also, another typically-North Scottsdale feature is the regular conflicts in the parking lot among the entitlement-minded regarding speeds through the lot and who gets to park where. We joined this gym soon after moving to Phoenix during the height of summer. The pool was great and we used it quite often. We have a small child and this pool was great for her. There were just enough smaller children for her to play with but not too many that it was crowded. The child care was OK. Our daughter loved to play there, but I did not like that the TV was constantly on and playing a movie. I hated that TV since my daughter would gaze at it rather than play. It also seemed that the bathrooms in child care were dirty if we went after 10AM. Gross! I really liked the cycling classes. The instructor on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 was phenomenal! She got me hooked on cycling. The reason for the 2-star rating is the outrageous price! I was really bothered by walking in and seeing many paid staff members dressed up in suits sitting in their offices. What could they be doing? I always saw them talking to each other with their doors closed. We ultimately found another gym because I felt like I was paying quite a high price to have an overabundant staff doing who knows what. This place was way too expensive. We have since found a different gym with a reasonable price with staff who are appropriately dressed. More money does not mean a better workout. read more

I really wanted to fall in love with this place. It's located close to my house, I could bike there, it's got a great pool area. But alas, Lifetime just did not live up to my standards. I joined and I did not go because well, there were just several things about this place that just bugged me. First of all, this place is just TOO big- no sense of intimacy- even with all the fancy granite tiles and nice carpeting- this place just made me want to come- get my workout done- and leave! The class offering were small so every class was packed- people were waiting in line to get in and aggressive about getting the necessary props for the classes. And the spin classes were so aggressive- I want a good workout- not to start a head banging fight. The staff up front never seemed to know what was going on- every time I asked a question, I get a dull stare back. The locker rooms were dirty and most of the time wet. It was disgusting to try to take a shower there after working out. And the swimming pool that I was so excited about for my son? No umbrellas so you are at the mercy of the blazing hot Phoenix sun at all hours of the day. My son couldn't stand to be at the daycare facility either. So overall, there were some serious negatives for me. There are twi good thing I will write about this place. One is that they have great machines for working out- every type of machines imaginable- all in excellent condition- so if you are into lifting weights then this is the place for you. One is that they do a great road ride every Tues and Thurs morningat at 5:30am and I've met some really nice riders. Esp. Rick who is so passionate about riding, he's a total inspiration to me. Full disclosure - I hate fitness clubs. So why do I go here? Great question. I've been training for an Ironman event. I have a treadmill and weight machine at home so between those devices and the good old outdoors I'm able to accomplish most of what I'd like to do. I have a pool but it's not long enough for any serious swim training. My swim coach recommended this facility. They have both indoor and outdoor pools with lane markers and, so far, the other gym members have been respectful of the people swimming laps. While I don't use most of the other parts of the gym everything seems to be clean and up to date. The locker rooms are very nice. The showers, etc. are clean and there are plenty of towels available. The staff is friendly and if you're into socializing there's a nice juice bar. This place may change my mind about fitness clubs. read more

CHILDCARE beware. Over crowded chaos! My husband and I were told that if we requested that our 1yr old son stay in the infant room that he could if he wasn't walking yet. Every time I would be reminded that my son is 1yrs old and they have a policy that he go out with the bigger kids. The room with the bigger kids is scary! Craziness and overcrowded. My son isn't walking yet and I'm sure he'd get trampled on. I drove all the way to the gym this morning for the lady at the check in to tell me that my son isn't allowed in the baby room anymore. She preceded to pull out a contract and tell me that this is what I signed and sorry. We keep getting mixed information from the different staff and the lady today had terrible customer service. She treated me like I was lying about what I have been told was ok. I definitely won't be returning. Very disappointing experience read more

This past year I decided that I was crazy and wanted to start doing triathlons, so I was in need of a gym that had all the amenities that would help make that goal a little easier. With my crazy work schedule, I loved that they are open 24 hours a day! I will admit, I have totally been a crazy lady there at 1:00am in the lap pool. Since this is a premiere facility or as they like to refer to it as an Onyx facility, the amenities are pretty awesome as well... Great locker rooms, which are always been attended to and are spotless. Customer service is killer, Tony my on boarding guy is awesome - always willing to answer any questions I have. You have to go see him when you go to check the place out. Their classes are awesome... if you have kids, their kids club looks pretty awesome, I mean there is really something for everyone here! If your looking for a gym this is your gym. I should note that I used to be a member of the Village and while it was great, I am sooo happy I switched to Life Time. One of the best clubs or gym in town. I have been a member for over 3 years but it's unfortunate to see that they're not the best when it comes being professional or with their hirings. I have been a member for 3 years and I have been visiting the Life Time maybe once or twice a month but it was still worth the monthly membership cost. Unfortunately when covid happened it's not fun to work out with mask and etc to enjoy the amenities. So I placed the membership on hold for 3-4 months but when I called and wanted to cancel it one of the workers told me that he will keep putting my accounts on hold until the mask regulations/covid slows down. Not even a month after they charged me again for a membership fee. The main picture isn't the charge but the not being professional. I have been paying over $300 per month just because it's a place of quality but if you can't manage my two accounts definitely you don't deserve the dollar amount that's being charged here for monthly services. I usually don't check my credit card statements due to its being on autopay but I just checked for different reason and seen a $103 charge which was for one of my accounts. I called them and I have been told that they sent me an email letting me know it was about to come off from hold. If an account manager or a person that's an employee under that roof say's that they're taking care of it, I'm not gonna worry about that email. LESSON LEARNED THEY WONT BE PROFESSIONAL WHEN THEY'RE JUST WANNA TAKE YOUR MONEY. read more

Completely over-capacitated! I have NEVER seen a gym with so many people at all hours of the day. I have been a trainer for 30 years, and I joined this gym to do my workout. Every time I go in there, there are no available machines, and the free weight area is even worse. They run group classed and take up 8 dumbbell benches, or 8 power racks at ONE TIME! Who is managing this gym??? For $170 a month I am done with them! I will find a gym that I can get a workout in, where I don't have to accommodate their slow times (which are hardly ever). read more

They have a great swim program for young kids. Ours have been going since they were 3 years old. They also have a great kids club and often host "parents night out" which allows the adults to grab dinner and a movie while the kids tire themselves out. I am a member of LifeTime Fitness Tempe. I work out early in the morning. Today I was running late for work so I had to skip my morning workout. The Scottsdale location is about 5 minutes from my work so I ended up at this facility instead today. LTF facilities are rated at proprietary levels. My LTF in Tempe is a gold level. The one in Scottsdale that I visited today is an Onyx level. You must pay more to visit an Onyx facility. How much more is between $20-$30 per workout as I understand it. Or you can simply upgrade your membership to the Onyx level, but that runs somewhere around $100 more per month (I have a family Gold membership) from what I can tell. I needed my workout today though. It's my addiction (well, so is alcohol and television but don't judge me...). So, at lunchtime I decided to take my chances and see how painful they were going to make my desire to upgrade for the day. To my great surprise, they did not charge me the fee that I expected. I think I just got a friendly front desk person. Technically, they SHOULD have charged me. And I was willing (somewhat reluctantly, of course) to pay if I had to. I was jonesing for my fix today. But the girl at the front let me go in without paying. It pays to be nice I guess (or in my case, it doesn't pay...lol).... Anyway, I was not expecting this facility to be much different that the Tempe one. I figured they charged more because they could. North Scottsdale is infinitely more affluent and snobby (they don't call it Snotts-dale for nothing) than Tempe. I was wrong. I won't say it's like night and day, but there were significant differences. The equipment is much better and newer in Scottsdale. I mean, I have been working out my entire life (I am an amateur bodybuilder) and there were machines where I had to read the instructions to understand how to use them. EQUIPMENT: There was a good variety of machines. I happened to be working back, hamstrings and calves and I was pleased at the choices I had - except for calves. To my great surprise, I could only find 2 pieces of calf machines and 1 of them (the seated one) was partially broken. Otherwise, the equipment they did have was newer and worked different angles for each muscle group. Bravo! LOCKER ROOM: At Tempe, the locker room is quite nice. The one in Scottsdale is the same AND they provide you with lotion, razors, mouthwash and q-tips. Those are extra little bonuses not offered in Tempe. PEOPLE: In the middle of the day, I was not expected it to be so busy, but it was. It was not so crowded that it was uncomfortable, but it was much busier than Tempe. The people are also in better shape than in Tempe which I found a positive. People were friendly, considerate and focussed upon working out vs socializing. AMBIANCE: I could not exactly put my finger on it, but the aesthetics of the facility were nicer somehow too. It was nothing noticeable, but there was a difference. All in all, I was very pleased with this place. I don't know if it's nice enough to upgrade my membership, but prior to my visit, that option was out of the question for me. At this point, I would consider it if I had to. Luckily enough, my wife usually works out with me at Tempe so it's not really a choice I have to make. read more

A variety of classes, indoor and outdoor swimming pools both with slides for the kids. Adults should hit the slide every once in awhile LOL. Two large jacuzzis, suanas and steam rooms in the locker rooms and indoor pool area. I didn't give it 5 stars because LifeTime continues to slowly raise the monthly dues and this facility has no room to add square footage. Would never join a gym, but been using this free pass for a few weeks over at this location. Seems to have everything that would needed and more. The machines are set up in rows for the different parts of your body which is nice and the hoops court usually has a pickup game in progress. If I was joining a gym though, I would not want guys in full suits trying to sell me memberships. Too much sales pressure, so dress those guys differently is my advice. Yes, I belong to this gym so I am biased, somewhat. BUT I love this gym. The variety they have with equipment, weights, cardio options (treadmill, elliptical, plenty of pools, etc). The gym is 24/7 with the very few occasions when they have limited hours (never closed) and this is a HUGE plus. Locker rooms are well equipped and feel safe to leave my belongings in (they have built in lock and key) It gets pretty busy in the mornings before "normal" work time and of course after 5pm. I've found going around 8:30pm is great for me because it is pretty dead in the gym. The front desk staff are always very friendly and have always answered my questions. read more

OK so I just found out that you should join a Fitness Club to work out...Wow who knew??? Weird... We have been members for a while now and although I've worked out here only a handful of times I love the facility. As I mentioned in an earlier review I get my haircut at the Princess well for GREAT hair color Amanda is your girl...She works at Lifetime Fitness. She travels all over the place mostly to New York to work with Models doing hair and make up before photo shoots. She does AWESOME COLOR, she worked at the Princess before Lifetime. Anyhow she is a hidden treasure TRUST ME! Other than that my son who is 12 has a great trainer "Chris Miller" other than being uber cute he has done wonders for my son and is great to work with. He is always on time, and has SO much patience. I'm not a huge fan of the pool in the summer it is like Santa Monica Beach in the summer "You try and find a place to sit down???" but the kids like the slides and I'd prefer Lifetime then the public pool...It is clean, has lifeguards and comfy lounge chairs. I'm all about the fitness can't you tell??? read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I love the kids academy, I've never had a problem. The girl are great there. Maintenance crew are on it. Very convenient to have a coffee shop in the main lobby. The only problem I've had is that crew members are very aggressive to take your LT points. I've had two incidents where my LT points were taken without any consent. Then when I asked where my points were and why they were taken, and repeat I didn't agree to that, the team member becomes rude towards me. Really makes me not want to use any of my points on their classes or personal training. I'll just use them on a massage or haircut, which they have accessible in the gym. read more

Lifetime Fitness was great and this club was amazing but the facility has slowly decayed with longer equipment repair time, worn-out equipment, high employee turn over, Holiday closings, A/C set to warm temperatures, steady and substantial price increases - no loyalty even if you've been there 10 years, understaffed in the mornings so you ring the buzzer and wait, equipment crammed too close together, and fitness trainers forced to shake you down for training hours. In 2015 an equity investment group purchased Lifetime Fitness and it may have been that jump the shark moment. And I won't get into this facility not honoring gift cards, etc. Hopefully they can turn it around and return to being a premiere fitness club. Until then, there are too many better options. read more

Interesting observation though, in my two visits to the upper floor cardio and weight room area, I didn't see a single employee cleaning. I also didn't see any trainers either. Beautiful gym, more like a resort. Huge indoor and out door pools with slides. The selection of classes is nice but pretty limited to during the week and morning or evening only. I've tried two different classes here. Water areobics with the old ladies and zumba. Water areobics was a lot of fun with great music blaring to get you pumped. Zumba was fun (1st time), but they need to limit the amount of people in class, add more classes, or have in a larger studio. There was so many people in there you couldn't do the whole motion and I felt like I was constantly trying not to get hit or kicked by others in class. Gym has a nice spa area that they give you a new membership discount for but after that the prices are really high. Price for a single adult membership is $51, there's also a hefty joining fee. read more

I don't think I can express how much I enjoy this gym! It has everything I could ever need and then some. I am on a 2 week pass that was given to me by Mark at member services. Keep in mind this particular gym does not participate in free week passes but when I contacted Mark he was more than happy to give me a pass and he went even further by making it a 2 week pass. He is definitely the epitome of great customer service. This whole place has a great staff from the front desk, to the activities desk to the kids club. My son LOVES going to the kids club. It has a small basketball court, outdoor play area, computer lab, tv, and climbing indoor gym. Although I feel there could be more staff per children they seem to do a good job at taking care of all the kids. The classes here are also amazing. There's a class whenever you might be there. I took a cardio kickboxing and a yoga class. Both were great and I knew I had received a great workout. I haven't had a chance to try out the salon or rock climbing wall but I did enjoy the steam room in the spacious women's locker room as well as the hot tub. This place has an indoor and outdoor pool plus waterslides, towel service, large locker rooms and even a family locker room where you can bring your kids in. There is something for everyone here. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because for me it is a little pricey. There is another gym that has the same amenities and is not as much. If it were a little more price competitive I'd give it 5 stars and join in a heartbeat. One thing I forgot to mention when initially doing the review...this gym has a barbie and ken feel to it. When going to workout it seems most of the people here dress to impress rather than to get in a good workout. Although I will say everyone is in shape so they must be working out. I personally didn't get intimidated by the crowd as I went very often in my sweats (which I got many looks for) but didn't care. I go to the gym to workout NOT to impress anyone. read more

Great facility conveniently located off the 101. They are open 24 hours which is also great. Been going to the facility for over 4 years. They have both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as two racquetball courts. They have child care and several activities and summer clubs for kids. They have awesome locker rooms including one for families. For working out they have a full range of equipment for both cardio and weight lifting. They have several group classes as well. Both my wife and myself have utilized their personal training and they have some great trainers as well. We currently work out with Santana who is awesome. They have a cafe where you can get healthy meals or snacks. Finally they have a spa and saloon as well in case you need a massage or a hair cut. Priced north of a 100 bucks a month but for what you get, I think it is totally fair price especially if you visit the gym more than a few times a month. read more

So I have been a member of LFT Scottsdale for 5 yrs now and have watched the deterioration of the facility. It use to been a very clean place, but I have to say that LTF Scottsdale management (and their HQ) are totally missing what most people want -- i.e. a CLEAN place to work out. The men locker room is filthy and the showers ... I see people use them, but I wouldn't , except in a pinch. Instead of hiring a real cleaning crew to come nights and really clean, they have their "personal trainers" cleaning the facility .. it really makes me want to pony up $75/hr -- NOT! Anyways - they want to raise the dues on the club - so they called it a "Onyx" level ... whatever - its still really dirty! Oh -- LifePower - I belong there as well. The air conditioning units have been out for 4 months (they are ordering parts), just in time for winter when you really need air conditioning. (On a positive note - Life Power is clean!) So -- really if you are looking for a club to work out in its "ok" ... but just warn you its dirty. read more

Been a member since this club opened in '08. Spacious, with many different options to have an excellent and diverse workout. No gym really compares on this level, including The Village at more than twice the cost. This would be an easy five stars if it weren't for: 1) their cancellation policy - my friends have had to jump through hoops and/or pay a personal visit to have their memberships stopped. If you can sign up over the phone, why can't you cancel a membership over the phone and email? And 2) it is very crowded during peak times. On the flip side, this just means the price is right. The hubby had to fight me to sign up for Lifetime as it is certainly an "investment". But it's officially ruined me for any other gym for the rest of my life. So much equipment, never a wait, always clean, lots of class selection, beautiful resort-like pool to relax after your workout in the summer, 2 different types of saunas, the lifetime cafe, full service spa with great massages, kids care, it's like a magical wonderland of everything you could ever need all in one place. I'm hooked! I am a 5am workout junkie, at the gym 6 days a week and I get ready there. Yup, the showers are actually clean enough to use- other gyms should take note. This is an amazing gym. I have a problem getting to most gyms. That is not the case with this gym. You will actually look forward to going and not have to force it in your schedule and you won't want to leave once you are there. It is expensive but it is a great value for what you get. There is no better deal out there. The food is healthy, affordable and amazing too. You can show up hungry get a workout and a meal. I highly recommend this gym. read more

I joined this club recently because I am gearing up for the National Senior Games and need to be able to swim a few times a week and build strength the other days of the week. I was always reluctant to spend this much on a health club but am impressed with all that Lifetime has to offer. I feel that I am definitely getting my money's worth. With an outdoor pool and two indoor pools, there are always lanes available for doing my workout. There are also ample opportunities to do class fitness or group training. The locker rooms are beautiful with hairdryers, shampoo, conditioner, razors, towels and more along with showers, a steam room and sauna. WiFi and a cafe are an added bonus. So far, the one thing I wish they had was a filtered water system on the drinking fountains so that people can refill their water and save plastic. read more
