Signed up for this club and then realized it was way more expensive than the one in Tempe so I submitted a cancellation within 24 hours. The manager refused to give me my payment back. I escalated it to another manager and he said he wouldn't give me a refund but offered to get my nails done at the spa. It took two letters and three calls to corporate just to get my payment back. Not to mention after awhile the managers at this club just flat out ignored my calls and emails. It took almost four months and a lot of effort to get this resolved. It was an extremely frustrating process to say the least. I used to be a huge fan of lifetime but this club definitely made me never want to sign up there ever again. Such a shame. I almost saved a few bucks and joined Mountainside Fitness when I moved here in February 2018, but Lifetime is worth every penny. I previously worked out at clubs like Equinox, and Lifetime is definitely a family friendly version of it basically. I also had paid to go to cycling and yoga studios in the past, but lifetimes classes are exceptional. Marnie's cycling classes kick my ass every time, and so does Gwen's heated Flow (in the best way). Angela's Surrender zen yoga class is pretty great too. Namaste a member at lifetime for...a lifetime (hopefully). Also, Don Jones allowed me to come in and try things out with a guest pass, which completely sold me on the gym. Don had taken care of my mom years ago when she joined, and if we ever need anything he's beyond accommodating. Ask for him if you need a membership! read more

A little lift is good for the swole. Lifetime fitness has been my home gym since 2014. I have only been at the Scottsdale location for a year. I can/have spent the entire day in this mall-like gym. The weights area has all different types of machines, free weights, and squat racks for powerlifting. Feel free to grunt loudly when lifting heavy. Most of the cardio machines have TVs. I'm guilty of running/walking and glued to the TV. There are indoor and outdoor pools with lanes to swim laps, areas to chill, and hot tubs. Yes, the adults can go down these slides! Swim lessons and personal trainers are offered but cost extra. 2 full basketball courts where people play pick up basketball frequently. There are leagues you can join to play too. The racquetball courts, squash ball courts, and rock climbing wall are also super fun. Variety of classes are included in your membership. The classes are usually pretty awesome, though I have definitely been in classes where the instructors were really hard to follow even for the seasoned attendees. I would highly recommend the hot yoga and warrior sculpt. Trying yoga for the first time? They have super nice yoga mats and clean towels, so you can just show up and bend it like beckham. They also offer childcare and kids camp which can be really attractive to some of the members. I have had haircuts at the spa. It wasn't for me but it is very convenient. I've had massages too but at a different Lifetime location. The cafe has ready-to-go and made-to-order food, shakes, and other semi-healthy food. Earn those lifetime bucks by referring people and you can use them on lifecafe, lifespa, and along with other things. Additional favorites - Stretching machines and foam rollers for those knots. Ask the staff about the bioelectrical impedance machine to help keep track of the percent body fat/progress you're making. This is the epiphany of a luxury gym and you're definitely paying for this. Before joining, negotiate the initial fees to be waived or wait until they have a promotion. Ask for a free day pass to find out if this is worth the investment! read more

Really love this place just wish it wasn't quite so expensive. I really love a gym with a great steam room and sauna and this place has just that. There is also a coed sauna by the pool area that is great to hang with your wife in while watching our daughter swim. Great free weights and machine areas and a ton of cardio equipment. I hate how they try to consistently up sell personal training when I'm already paying so much each month. Great locker room areas with razors for shaving and soap and shampoo for the showers, hair spray and hair dryers available as well as deodorant which is nice if you forget your own. So this is my gym now and I've gone consistently 3 or 4x a week for a month now.. It is a very typical Lifetime Fitness; an Onyx Level club. The floor layout, equipment, showers, sauna, etc are pretty much the same. I have only been to 2 other Lifetime locations; one in Summerlin in Las Vegas, NV and the other in Goodyear, AZ. I'm not sure what level the Goodyear one is but Summerlin is a diamond level. I think this location is not kept as well as the other 2. The restrooms in the women's locker rooms are a bit unkept and has an unpleasant odor every time I've been there. Besides that the toiletries, towels, and such are similar to other locations. Right before you walk up the stairs to the workout equipments and machines, theres a sign that basically says no duffle bags please but there are still so many of them. They take up space and is annoying. People put it near one machine to mark their territory then go workout at a different machine jumping back and forth between those machines. There are more than enough employees walking around to enforce that rule. If they're not going to, then take down the sign. So theres that training space open area with the mats, yoga balls, bands, etc.. it's been TWICE now that an employee of Lifetime fitness in uniform with their client has walked passed and stepped on my mat while I'm seated upright still (on the mat taking a break from stretching, planks or whatever. They stepped right on where my face faces down. That's just ridiculous. I called them out both times, and both times they're oblivious. If it were other ppl then it's whatever they're idiots but as an employee in uniform, you should be more aware of your surroundings and considerate. Or if you are going to be that selfish, at least don't make it known you work there. That really irritated me especially since I've only used those mats maybe 4 times and twice this has happened. The world does not revolve around you and your clients work out.. there are other people there too. Besides those few things, it's a nice gym.. I mean it better be for $100/month. I haven't been to any of the classes yet, but I'm sure they're great. The staff is nice, the person that signed me up was great. It's definitely the best gym in the immediate area, but you definitely pay for it. read more

It's great here but they are scamming us by increasing prices and not moving their operating hours back to 24 hours a day. First it was because of COVID but now there is no excuse except to make more money. Lifetime Scottsdale is a wonderful and family friendly gym. my family has been going there for many years. Besides the awesome facility and great class selections that Lifetime offers, the child care center There is absolutely amazing. Having a safe and fun place to take my kids while I work out is so helpful. Maj, one of the childcare employees, took care of my now 8 year old when he was a baby, and now helps with my one year old son. Erica, one of the childcare managers, always greets our family with a smile and goes above and beyond to help when my youngest son was struggling to transition from the infant room to the toddler room. We love the parents night out events and school break camps they offer. I would highly recommend Lifetime gym to any families in Scottsdale. read more

Two years ago I moved into the apartments across the street from the Scottsdale location off of Mayo. One night me + my roomie were on a walk and decided to go in and look around, it was about 8pm on a Friday night. When we walked in I thought for sure that I would never be able to afford this place. It was beautiful. Don Jones, an account manager came out and showed us around, he spent a lot of time with us and answered all of our questions even though it was late, we didn't feel rushed. Everything from the cardio/weights to the pool and locker room features, all so amazing. I ended up signing up for a plan '26 & under' or something along those lines, for $80 a month. It was a month to month deal. I ended up moving, and did not have any problem canceling, just had to put in a 30 notice, Don helped me with that too - he pretty much was my go-to guy for anything and everything I needed. But anyways, my work brought me back to Scottsdale and I'm so happy to be able to return to Life Time. The only thing I would caution you about is: once you workout at this gym, all other gyms will look like garbage, and you'll be stuck with high expectations of gyms for the rest of your life. ;) read more

I truly love everything about this company's approach. I know what to expect when I walk in the doors of any location....I've been to 3 of them now and will continue to try more in my travels because it keeps my workouts straighforward when I don't have to take extra time trying to figure out new machines or even locker room set-ups! This location is beautiful and filled with beautiful people, I'm not even exaggerating a little bit! I love the flow of the cardio area and I loved that on a Sunday there was still plenty of space to do all I needed. The music was a GREAT volume (my home location could learn something from Scottsdale on that point) and the dressing area had wonderful large lockers throughout - yay! I didn't try the salon or cafe on this first visit, but I'll be Yelping any other points I come across! read more

We have been founding members since this location opened back in 2006. It was good for a number of years but has gone downhill quickly. Our monthly rate is higher than other members who have been there less time. That is how they treat the founding members!! We are not treated with the respect we deserve and since COVID it has been a sh-- show. Poor management and little regard for cleanliness and saftey of their members. The gym is one of the worst places to pick up COVID and its like they are going through the motions and doing nothing.......to prevent the COVID spread. Membership terminated and not ever going back. The longer I'm a member at this gym the more I'm impressed. The staff here is amazing. At the door Brian and Alison greet you like VIP ( impressive how many names they know). Dana the yoga instructor is one of the best in the valley (she's a studio level instructor). I've never been a CrossFit or weights guy. But I've been doing Alpha with Stormy and it's a darn good class. I wasn't a big class guy but Alpha is like an evolved version of CrossFit. read more

I, a 65+ senior, signed up to join this club at the North Scottsdale for my recreational Pickleball exercise in summer. So far I am very disappointed. The Pickleball program there is not for senior players to enjoy. They use the Dupr rating system to eliminate seniors' access to the courts; should all the members have equal right to access the facility services? As I understand, Dupr rating is created for leagues and tournaments play, such as tennis rating and golf hadicap system. People without the rating or handicap are allowed to play when they have the right or payed to access the tennis courts and golf course, should it operate same way? As a recreational player, i have tried their different setting, and found which one is fit for my level, but they set the dupr requirement and prohibited me to play. Durp is based on 60 game algorithm, they want you completed 40 dupr rating games , otherwise play with the beginner forever?. This program does not set for senior intermediate players, so drop the membership! read more

Just like a lot of you say, alot of women trying to hold on to the past, lot's of sexy workout attire attached with attitudes and look at me but don't look at me unless I think you are hot syndrome lol. Because I'm black and I'm tall and I dress crazy I get alot of unwanted attention with dumb questions like what are you training for? What team do I play for? Am I in the NFL, MLB, or NBA. Kids come to me while I'm trying to shoot because they think I'm somebody. I can't even talk to any females here because other people will assume somethings going on because there is alot of scandalous things going on like people having affairs people sneaking kissing by the stairs over here over there. It's pretty much like High School here at Lifetime Gym but I still love it. If you join here you really need to be focused. I joined 4 years ago and only a few people even know my name because although I dress loud, I stay quiet. Sat mornings is great to come in for 5on5 hoops or 4 on4 half court. If you are single looking for a fit mate this is the best gym to join. And also past 11 at night is great to be here not alot of people and no distractions. If you love your kids know that the childcare should just be called baby sitting. They are just keeping your kids in a fancy holding cell until you come back to free them. Overall it's worth the money if you really want to workout and change your life oh and I love the cafe and the staff there as well. Can't forget my main man Craig at the front desk, he most def brightens up the place with his vibe, it's all about the vibes yo. Until Craig showed up I didn't have anyone to talk to. If you're not aware of the Life Time drill, it's pretty straightforward. This is a gym facility that has everything. The basketball court, the swimming pool, the largest selection of weight machines, an absurd amount of treadmills/ellipticals, squash courts, a rock climbing wall, a spa, a cafe, and I'm just getting started. Everything is very well maintained and you gotta love the clean towels they have everywhere. I like coming late in the evenings to avoid the rush hour, but even then you should not have much difficulty finding available space to work out. I've waited a couple minutes for a squat rack at the busiest hours. Something I've yet to try is the multitude of classes that are available, many of them free with the cost of your membership. Again, options are the name of the game here, and it's nice to have them available. Of course, the catch to all this is the price. You'll be paying $100 a month for these luxuries, many of which you will probably never take advantage of. In addition, the joining fee is somewhere in the region of $200 (although if you're patient, they will run one-day specials where this might be waived). Therein, as the Bard would tell us, lies the rub. It's up to your judgement and your workout desires whether this is worth it for you or not. What is not included in this price is personal training, which runs another couple hundred dollars a month on top of your membership fee. This is something they will try to sell hard, so be aware. If you can deal with those small minuses, there's not much to dislike about this gym. Give it a look and decide for yourself! read more

If you want a gym where you can pay 100 dollars per person that's full of snobby and rude people who sit and hog equipment instead of working out and want to deal with the absolute WORST GYM STAFF YOU WILL EVER FIND, then this is the gym for you. I have been wanting to cancel here for a while now and just have not done so due to the convenience of being close, but I was finally pushed to doing so. The staff is horrid. You would think that since you are creating the pay checks to these employees they would AT LEAST be polite but common decency is not something they understand. They walk around and treat people as if there is something that gives you complete entitlement to have an enormous ego and allows you to be a complete A HOLE. The General Manager RYAN MOLLICA is the most childish and disrespectful employee I have probably ever dealt with in my life. The basketball courts at this gym are entitled to cowardly people who bully others into getting off the court when they want to play. I have seen so many poor kids get told that they need to leave because they are going to be using the entire gym and the poor kids can't stand up for themselves and they just have to leave. MIND YOU THEY ARE PAYING 100+ a month to use the facilities. The guys that play at this gym are awful at basketball in the first place so for them to bully other kids who really are just trying to exercise is beyond me. Today I was approached by a crowd of guys who thought they would try and bully me as well but I'm sure they did not know that I'm someone who does not stand for that garbage. I was provoked to get into a confrontation but being the man that I am I stood my ground and kept my cool. Eventually staff came out and said they understood my feelings and would present me to the "GM" to discuss this ordeal. Little did I know the GM was someone who was probably a bully himself as a child and for that fact he never actually grew up. He was to scared to talk to me on his own so he brought in one of these trainers Into the room to sit with us lmao. When I explained to him what was going on he simply shrugged it off and told me it is what it is and the courts are used by whoever wants to play basketball. "In other words if there are 10 people that come in he gym while there are already 5 people using it they can kick you off and you have to deal with it." Again, CUSTOMERS ARE PAYING 100+ a month to use these courts. I disagreed and proceeded with letting him know it's bullying to these other people who are trying to use the courts. He then told me I was being disrespectful and asked if I wanted to listen to him or proceed with causing issues. "What a coward." I asked him if he was going to be disrespectful to me as a customer and not allow me to even speak. He cuts me off and says "I'm going to be disrespectful if your not going to listen to me and that you need to stop talking and listen to get this over with." At that point I stood up, told him he was the most disrespectful and unprofessional employee I have ever dealt with and then canceled my membership. I made a previous post about being a member at the Tempe location and how I ended up liking this one better, but I just want to clarify. This location in north Scottsdale and is an onyx club. This means it costs more, but you're clearly getting more. The facility is always kept perfectly clean, the machines are rarely out of commission and the locker room is much bigger and offers more amenities like a steam room, sauna, razors, shaving cream, and other little stuff like that. I met two of the managers when I went over to switch my membership and they were super nice and friendly. These are all important things to me and make it worth the price. In the end, find the amenities and little details and overall price you like the most, then make your decision. You can always change to a different level of membership or try it out for a free 3 day pass. read more

Let me just start by saying that I've been going to this gym for some time, walking past the salon never realizing they had a stylist that could do my hair. I'm an African American woman and finding a stylist that cares for my natural hair while also being able to do pretty much any protective style in the book can be difficult but look no further! Leslie can do it ALL! Like if you have hair, she can do it and is one the best stylist I have ever had! So far I've had two strand twist, box braids, wash and go, and just booked my next appointment for a curly sew in! I'm addition to the spa, the gym is amazing too! The locker rooms are always clean, they have all the main bathroom and shower essentials, and a kids academy where they will watch your precious babies for 2.5 hrs while you workout. I also love the fitness classes such as H.I.I.T and yoga. They also have a steam room, sauna, hot tub, pool and more. The membership is higher than many other gyms but when you factor in all the amenities it's well worth it! Highly recommended! read more

Let me describe how awful the court situation is here in more detail. First, there are 3 courts only that were converted on a basketball court. The basketball court on the other side holds games during the pickleball time, so you have to listen to an obnoxiously loud buzzer going off with every change of sides. The courts are separated by a loose plastic barrier in the middle, so if you're running back to save a ball and press against it, you'll fall right through it and injure yourself. Basketballs also come flying out of the sides that the plastic barrier does not cover, and can hit you/interrupt your games if you're not careful. There is a rock climbing gym right behind and up against the pickleball courts, so there are little kids and people walking behind you constantly and interrupting your games. Second, there is literally no room to stand and watch, and there are only 6 or 7 chairs placed close by, which is clearly not enough room for pickleball leagues, tournaments, or anything of value. Third, the nasty members who go there will try and referee your game if you beat them because of how close the chairs are to the main court. If you do it back to them, they freak out and go crazy on you. I witnessed a crazy woman verbally attacking a brand new member who was sitting against the wall minding his own business, because she thought he was moving the paddles around in the rack and started abusing him, which is clearly the staff members job who move them! This was the worst experience of my life, and definitely not worth the overpriced cost they charge compared to literally every other lifetime fitness, which may I add have better pickleball courts. read more

I came here on a guest pass and am super impressed. This is by far the fanciest gym I've every been to. The locker rooms alone are pretty luxurious. They have everything you need: shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, hair spray and mouth wash. They have every class you can think of and a steam room, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools. This gym for what you pay is worth it. My fav is their app that makes everything from getting in the gym, pre-ordering foood at their cafe or making hair appointments easy. I am sad to have to terminated my memebership but I hadn't been in 2 months and just didn't make sense for me to keep the membership. Facility is clean, always plenty of fresh towels, their sauna and steam rooms were never over crowded, and plenty of workout classes. I probably would've remained a memeber if they didn't charge you a monthly fee to freeze you membership. That seemed kinda dumb. Great machines but that's about it. Our vehicle was broken into and personal items were stolen out of our care while working out in the gym. Our car was parked front and center and only four row back from the front entrance. It wasn't LifeTime's fault at all. We hit the lottery that evening and our car was the chosen one out of a full parking lot. We reported the incident immediately to LifeTime staff and management. The first thing you will notice pulling into a LifeTime parking lot is an impressive building with cameras towering over the rooftop covering the entire exterior of the building. Our first thought, the incident was captured on one of those cameras! We open a Police report and provided LifeTime a copy. The Police ARE eager to get a copy of the footage as soon as possible. Time is everything for these types of crimes. Twenty (yes 20) days have gone by and LifeTime has had zero communication with myself or the Police (confirmed by the Police). We have left 8-10 messages for the gym Manager and Asst Manager (who we handed the Police report to) with zero call backs. I was forced to call LifeTime Fitness Corporate office for help to try and get the security footage over to the Police. At this point, I'm not sure the footage still exists. I was a member of LifeTime for 8 years. LifeTime's facility is above average and so is the cost. In 8 years I never asked LifeTime for help once. I just paid my $100 a month dues on-time (due the math). The ONE time I need LifeTime to act on my behalf "on-time", it's not a priority to their management. At the minimum they could have returned my phone messages. My "one star" rating is for the LifeTime Fitness management at my location. Their only priority is sales, and not customer experience/support. You call for anything other than a new membership, you will have to leave a message. I had to go through the "new membership" prompts to get someone to pick up immediately. Once the sales representative found out I'm an existing member, I heard the disappointment in his voice. Customer experience and support from staff for existing members is what separates a good gym for a great gym. Especially if your monthly dues are one of the highest on the market! Management at my LifeTime location just let me know my value is nothing since they already have my bank account on auto draft. This gym is a one-way relationship. If you expect to be treated like a valued member that pays top dollar compared to other gyms in your area, pay attention to the management at your LifeTime location. read more

This is a follow up review to my review last Wednesday. Went back in today for a PT training session after having met with Elizabeth and Tim the training manager last Wednesday. I was finally able to sit down last Wednesday with Elizabeth and go though all my sessions the club has on the books for me. There were days showing I used a session and was never even in the club. To resolve all of the issues Elizabeth Tim and I all agreed to me having 3 1 hour PT sessions left however I go in to meet my trainer today and he informs me I only have 2 counting today so technically after today only 1. This is not what we all agreed to last Wednesday after my session. It's really not complicated. I'm actually at a loss of words at this point. Someone from Lifetime replied to my review last week and said they wished I had come in to the club to try to resolve this issue earlier however that is all I have been doing. I have met with Elizabeth so many times and each time she says she and Tim have agreed on how many sessions I have but when I go in to meet my trainer Keifer he says something completely different. I got these 10 training sessions as a gift and I should just be able to show up, workout and go home. I dont need to be involved in all this hassle. I got a voice-mail from Tim says I need to call him directly from now on because Elizabeth can no longer help me. Elizabeth dodged me and Keifer today when we went to her office to discuss it. I mean its 2 more sessions...give me a break. Again its not like its free sessions. We paid 1k for 10 1 hour PT sessions and as it is im settling for 8 just to be done with it. read more

I actually moved to North Scottsdale so I could be close to this gym. I'm not even a gym rat, but this place is like a resort. For all this gym has to offer, it is an incredible value. The place is beautiful. Three pools, sauna, steam rooms and by far the best cardio equipment of any gym I have been to. I usually despise doing cardio indoors, but the treadmills and varied elliptical trainers make the cardio definitely more tolerable. I go at off peak hours, so haven't had to deal with the large weight lifting room crowd at peak gym times. The locker rooms are fresh and always cleaned....never a shortage of towels. Been a member since 2007. This gym has been on a steady down hill trajectory for the last 5 years. Mens sauna barley works, steam room is a coin flip. There are 6 foam rollers for 10,000 members. Went to the glendale location which made the scottsdale location feel like a $5 membership type of gym! Scottsdale needs to step it big time. Lots of choices for MUCH LESS.
