Came for the clam chowder soup because of the high ratings. Was highly disappointed when I arrived hardly any parking and really tight space, very small inside, not very friendly inside at all either. I pre ordered online hoping it would be ready when I came to pick up however waited about ten extra minutes. The soup however was not very hot when I opened to eat it and a lot of veggies and huge pieces of a few potatoes, not the consistency of thick clam chowder I expected, very watery. We came here for lunch. This was our first time here and we didn't feel welcomed. No one greeted us and no one looked at us for 15mins. Once we sat down and ordered, took them 24mins for all the plates to get to our table. Food was okay. Everything was going okay, but towards the end of the meal, we got our check and was auto charged 18% gratuity on the bill. We were confused as we only had a party of 4 people. I thought most restaurants auto charge tip with a party of 6 or more during dinner? When my wife asked our waitress about this charge, she said she didn't know about the auto 18% tip charge, so she looked at her fellow hefty Mexican lady worker who gave us the bill. They whispered to each other with no explanation, no apology. they didn't offer to correct the bill or anything. They just walked away and didn't give a sh*t. My wife looked at the other tables to see if they got an auto 18% tip charge. Our table was the only one out the room with the auto tip charge. We were the only Asians in the restaurant. I'm guessing they think Asians don't tip? Stereotype or racial? Anyways we paid our waitress her 18% tip because didn't have time to deal with this BS plus we had a boat charter to catch. If you're Asian and you're interested I would look else where. I don't recommend this place at all. I don't support places that discriminate Asians. It's 2022.... sigh... read more

While visiting San Francisco I did some research on Yelp for a breakfast spot in Sausalito and came across the lighthouse Cafe and decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did, we loved the place. First off, it's really easy to find. It's right on the main road that runs right in front of all of the marinas and it's actually shaped like a little lighthouse. The place is really small, probably seats about 25-30 people. It's like an old school diner type atmosphere. The kitchen is tiny and is out in the open, so you get to watch the cooks do their thing which is interesting to me. I ordered a breakfast plate that had hash browns, fried eggs, onions, and a special habanero chicken sausage, with a side of sourdough toast. They were heavy handed with the onions, but other than that, I loved everything! My wife went with a traditional breakfast with hash browns, eggs, bacon and blueberry pancakes. Everything was great with her meal as well. Service was good, and prices were about what you would expect for the location. We'll be back next time we visit. read more

Awesome little breakfast joint in Sausalito - came here with my 2 friends to fuel up before going on an adventure at Muir Woods. There's a tiny parking lot in front of the place, but we had paid for $5 all-day parking at one of the city's lots and opted to walk here - it's a short walk from the Sausilito Visitor Center. Sometimes the best things come in small packages... and I'm talking about the size of this place, not the portions. If you're a group of 4+, I recommend looking elsewhere because there's 6 booths and 9 counter seats. You'll likely have to wait if it's crowded, and it's a lot faster to get a counter seat instead of an actual booth. The place gets really hot since there's no AC and it's an open kitchen, like a classic diner, but at least you get to watch them make the pancakes, hash browns, and eggs while you wait. The breakfast is pretty expansive - they serve your traditional American breakfast and lunch but also have some Danish-style entrees. Herring and Danish meatballs anyone? They also have a white board that posts what their daily special is. Although the breakfast is a little pricey... the portions are huge, especially the pancakes. I was indecisive and got the "Ultimate Breakfast" - this is definitely a meal I'd recommend sharing with others, because I was pretty defeated. It came with the following: - 2 slices of toast - 2 strips of bacon - 2 fruit pancakes (I got blueberry) - Potatoes - 2 eggs (over hard) It was so much, especially that pancake. The blueberry pancakes I got were really good - they cook the blueberries into the pancake, so they aren't just a topping. Plus the pancakes are really fluffy and moist - not too dense and easy to eat. They went great with maple syrup without getting too soggy. Eggs were perfectly done and the potatoes were nicely fried cubes tossed with some onions and bell peppers. The strips of bacon were also generous in size and made for an ice salty break in between my pancakes. I left extremely full and satisfied, and for about $15 I thought that meal was well worth it for the quality. Again, tiny place (only a single gender neutral bathroom outside the diner) but they're quick and the food is good. read more

Lighthouse Cafe was our pick for lunch for my boyfriend and I who were visiting Sausalito on a tour from SF. It was pretty full but we snagged a couple seats at the counter, which was really fun as we got to watch the cooks whip up some amazing looking food! This little diner / cafe features the typical breakfast and lunch fare you'd find at most diners, as well as some interesting Danish options, which is really unique and fun for me, as I'm from a city that celebrates its Danish heritage with a Danish Festival each year. We decided to split one of the specials, a crab and lobster melt, and a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was chock full of potatoes, clams, and bacon, and was super creamy and delicious - exactly what I wanted on a windy day. Then the melt came out and I almost died and went to heaven. The crab and lobster mixture was heated through and covered in melty cheese - it tasted like the best crab cake I've ever had and the bread was perfectly toasted. It came with fries that were piping hot and perfectly salty. Everything we saw coming off the flat top looked amazing, including smoked salmon omelettes, Mickey Mouse pancakes, Danish meatballs, etc.! It was also really affordable for lunch for two people. Keep in mind that it was a group of 9, no one but me had eaten here before and we traveled 15 hours to visit this cafe...but okay. The food however was delicious and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous and even though priced high...delicious. The restroom was very clean and small...but it Did suck that it's only one restroom for everyone at the cafe. The male server was very attentive and pleasant to deal with...he made sure our coffee was topped off and that everyone had what we needed. The female host/server delivered terrible customer service and had an unpleasant disposition...yet made a killing with my party in gratuity. My group of 9 dropped over $200.00 dollars for brunch and it could have been a more memorable experience. Thanks to the cook and the male waiter/Busboy they made our visit a bit better...too bad I can't say the same about the other employee. I don't recommend this place for large groups or split checks...the gratuity is added automatically. We had heard good things but wound up disappointed for the following reasons: 1. Corned beef has stated it had jalapeños in it but had too many bell peppers instead and NOT enough corned beef! 2. The Huevos Rancheros was sooooo lackluster with an uncooked tortilla, NO guacamole (We asked for some but we're told they didn't have any and offered sliced avocado) and no regard for any type of presentation. 3. The bacon avocado omelette was very underwhelming. The bacon was sub-par and way overcooked and the avocado was nearly non-existent. 4. They had no de-caf coffee we overheard and the regular coffee was blechh! 5. Both the plain (non-fruit) pancake and the syrup had ZERO flavor. 6. The stuffed hash browns came with slimy carmelized onions and the scrambled eggs were undercooked. On the positive side, the servers were very attentive, the bread options were very good. Expensive and rude service! My two years old dropped his shoe on the floor of the hallway, so I have to pick it up that I occupied 2/3 of the hallway. When the waitress passed through behind me, instead of offering help, she just rudely said to me: "this place is tiny". The bathroom is not code compliant because there is not a clear space of 2' in front of the toilet as required. I paid around $80 (tips are not reflected in the photo) for this brunch. This is hands down my favorite breakfast spot in Marin. Across the street from a good water view walk, I come here at least once a month. The scrambles are fantastic, I always have leftovers, my water is never empty and neither my coffee. The countertop looks right over the grill where the cooks are working speedily, meaning the open kitchen promises a clean and inviting and fun space. Great breakfast spot in Sausalito! Arrived at Lighthouse Cafe around 10am on Saturday morning and there was a line of ~6 groups ahead of us. When you arrive, you wait in a line out front of the restaurant until they have tables available for you. We ended up waiting about 20-25mins before we were seated in their outside patio area. There's both inside and outside seating available, but the patio is nice if there's sun. When we sat down, we were helped very quickly and ordered our mains because we were hungry. I ordered a Scrambled Egg dish with sausage, peppers and onions. It was delicious and a good sized portion. It came with hash browns and a side of sourdough toast. My boyfriend ordered an Eggs Benedict. About 25 minutes after we ordered, one of the waitresses came back up to our table and said they ran out of the Eggs Benedict. She apologized and said they were already making more, but it would be another 10mins (we assumed they meant the Hollandaise sauce). We ended up waiting a while for the food but when the food came it was great. The ham steak on the Benedict was really flavorful and the Hollandaise sauce was delicious.
