Lighthouse is always a great option. Especially right before summer hits and it gets slammed w/ tourists It has great views and is great for small to medium size groups. Our server (Chuy) was great. Very attentive but not overbearing. We started with a few apps. Crab cakes - yes, coconut shrimp - yes, calamari - meh...they're strips and were decent but no actual cocktail sauce which I think would have been nice to add. I got the pan seared Black Sea bass w/ a couple scallops. I was excited for the bass and it was good but honestly it was slightly dry. The scallops were delicious. Last night we walked down the pier to choose a place for dinner. We liked the look of this restaurant and, since I use a walker and they have an elevator, this was it. The host, Chris, told us to sit where we wanted, then he kindly moved my walker out of the way. Very soon our server, Oracio, came with menus and to take our beverage orders. Too many times we have to wait, but our drinks were delivered quickly. We chose one of their local craft beer offerings. Then he gave us a perfect length of time to study our menus and order. Then our dinners arrived, also quickly. As we ate, there was the nice bonus of a beautiful sunset -- with no pressure to turn the table. If you go here on a Tuesday or Friday, ask for Oracio. Yea this place is pretty terrible and the only saving grace is that the staff were really nice and maybe in the daytime, the views make up for the lackluster food. I came in here after trying to go to two other spots, (LTH and Pure Project were both packed with people and I needed some quiet) and was greeted pretty nicely by the host and chose a seat at their long inviting bar. Its Taco Tuesday as I was told and there was a special on Modelo draft (not my kind of beer) and taco specials. I had an Oside Blonde and that was pretty much the only thing good about the meal. I actually wanted a bowl of soup and when I asked the guy serving me which one was good, he was nice enough to give me a taste of all three, only the Manhattan clam chowder was edible and hot so I opted for that one. But when the soup came, it wasnt even hot and it was lukewarm!! I then ordered a chicken nachos and that was just a sordid mess honestly. The worst nachos I have ever eaten, and the grilled chicken was cold! I didnt want to make a fuss about the food as I just wanted to finish up my meal, pay and make a mad dash for the door. The other thing is they charged me fill price for the nachos even though it was a special for Taco Tuesday. And while the food is inedible, the staff were nice and it was fun to listen to some ska style Xmas music! You're not going to find me coming back here, but never say never, and maybe one day who knows I might be back for the $2 oyster special. read more

We come here every time we come to Oceanside. My husband ordered Fishrmans Fry, I ordered the Seabass. His was not very tasty and my Seabass was dry. We spent a lot of money on these two meals... was not worth it. The service was wonderful and I have to say they have the best homemade tiramisu... I hope they get better cooks. My grandson and I can't come to Oceanside without stopping here for dinner. We love the ambience and service is always wonderful. Happy hour here is always wonderful. It's the perfect way to end our first day on the ocean. Today we ordered the oysters, which are always delicious, crispy calamari and the shrimp scampi. My partner ordered the sea bass which was ok but my scallops reeked of the taste and smell of ammonia - so bad I had to spit it out. My wife and I noticed this cart carrying two uncovered buckets of either a sauce or a soup, there's no way that can be food safe whatsoever. The concern wasn't lowered even we finally got the soups, in which they were served to us lukewarm and bland. The overpriced oysters were probably the best part of this experience as they were actually good and clean. The steamed combo was a bowl of broth with a few miscellaneous tiny shells of things. In the 15 years I've lived in Oceanside, I had only been here once 10 years ago so decided to give this place another shot. They definitely reinforced to me why I never came back. We had some friends from out of town that wanted ocean view dining so I called this place at 6pm on a Sunday and they took our 8 person (1 high chair) reservation. When our party arrived, we were sat inside facing the bar so we asked if we could sit outside, which was all empty, but was told they have other reservations. No big deal but a bummer considering the place wasn't even that busy. When we sat, our friend had the sun in her face so we asked if we could at least move our entire table a bit so she wasn't blinded by the sun the whole time, which they were ok with. Our server was very nice, which was the only nice thing about our visit. We ordered chips and salsa for $8. The salsa was ok but the chips were stale. I ordered the Fisherman's Fry, which consisted of over-breaded, shrimp, oysters, calamari and clams. The clams were dark brown extremely overcooked and it was hard to tell if there were even clams in it at all. For $33, you're better off going to Harbor Fish a couple doors down (they know how to fry seafood much better!). My husband got the seafood cioppino, which was a good sized bowl but very bland for $46 (charged us an extra $8 for a side of plain linguine to go in it). My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla to share with her daughter- they ended up being served the shrimp and lobster quesadilla. My friend hates seafood and was completely grossed out and could not even finish her salad entree she also ordered. Very thankful neither one had a shellfish allergy because they had already taken some bites (daughter never had shrimp or lobster) before they realized it. We reported this to the waitress and she apologized but they still charged us for the quesadilla at the end, which was ridiculous but our friends didn't want to make a fuss. Did I mention they didn't reserve the high chair so my friend had to eat with one hand while holding their toddler? On top of being charged for something that could have sent someone to anaphylaxis shock, they automatically charged 18% gratuity since we had a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 children). Yes, this place is a tourist trap and it's a shame they don't care enough to improve after all these years. I 1000% going to spread the word to the hundreds of locals I know and tourists alike not to patron this place as they are careless, dangerous and overpriced for no reason! read more

Great scenery and the weather was the perfect way to start a beautiful today. We've started to come to the Lighthouse, it's our go to... regularly when we come to an Oceanside Harbor. I've found that the Super Campechana, clam chowder and Fish Tacos are our regular favorites. Had a Michelada and Michelob to start. We don't give the chefs enough of the praise for the dishes they've created and send out to their guests for heavenly consumption. We tip our servers for excellent service but they're the middle man for what the restaurant actually stands for. I took the time today to give our chefs praise for our dishes that we love so much. Seafood Found the lighthouse oyster restaurant on yelp was a great find! Located rt on the ocean , parking can be scarce & tricky on a busy time of day. Quickly was seated at our table - no too budy with little noise, and was served some great tasting corn chips. They had a self serve salsa bar that had many different varieties of salsa. My favorite was the mango salsa & they all smelled delicious! We ordered margaritas. Mine was a tasty lime & Jalapeño topped with tajin on the rim. The waiter was very helpful and had many recommendations. We ended up ordering the Puerto Vallarta lobster dinner along with a few appetizers. Lobster tacos were a very tasty treat. Kitchen staff seemed very cleanly, using gloves and protective gear. We were brought extra napkins & a plate to share They served fresh flour tortillas with a whipped butter cinnamon honey chili. They serve a variety of Draft beers, Appetizer menu $5-7 from 3-6pm. We spent about 1.5 hours for dinner & ordered the dessert sampler & they let us get more churros in place of the lava cake ( very accommodating). I would highly recommend trying this restaurant and would definitely come back for more seafood.
