Call to schedule an estimate for pricing and was told that the company does not service my area however my community (which is a newly developed subdivision) is within their service area map on Yelp. The conversation with one of the receptionist was extremely off-putting when I asked for rationale... smh My husband and I are both retired military veterans and was looking to support a veteran owed company. This company is totally professional. The technician showed up on time, was actually early, and it was a real pleasure to work with him on the lighting in my kitchen. He was extremely knowledgeable and was able to advise me about the technical aspects of lighting, as well as what would be appropriate for my decor. He explained everything clearly, and was very generous with the time that it took for me to make the decisions. In addition, I had more than one problem that needed to be dealt with. I am extremely happy with the results and feel that my home is safer because he was able to fix the electrical issues I had. Great service! My service rep/tech was Steven. He was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He noted & showed me a couple of improper wiring (and potentially dangerous conditions from the previous company that installed by breaker box (under sized wiring for 20A circuits)) and corrected it. He genuinely wanted to make sure that everything was properly up to safety code/standards. He installed a new 14-50 outlet for a ev charger and the quality of workmanship was superb. I will use them for my upcoming projects, specifically asking for Steven for my technician. Lastly I tip my hat to the owner; during finishing up the project we chatted for a while & Steven relayed how the owner treats his employees so well. I was in need of 2 chandeliers to be installed with 19' ceilings. I was told the minimum would be $425 with a $30 trip charge. That was fine with me. I made an appointment to get a more accurate quote. When the technicians arrived and presented me with a quote I was in shock. The $425 was just a 'ladder fee'. This is per light install. So it would have been $850 minimum for the job, not the $425 the company originally told me. If I would have know this I wouldn't have waisted my time and the technicians time to come out, plus I would have saved my $30. I feel the company mislead my from the beginning just to get my $30. I will never use this company, very unprofessional. Oh, the final quote was over $1,500 to get 2 chandeliers installed. I do have 19' ceilings, but the quote seemed outrageous. read more

This company is 100% amazing and professional. I recently had some in-house wiring work done (coax cable extension). The tech came out and observed the home and the potential labor. The techs name is Jeremy. After some witty banter and great conversation he revealed himself to be a very approachable and professional technician. He clearly understood my needs and was quoted a fair price. My appointment was scheduled for the following week between 10am - 12pm. Jeremy arrived promptly and began work. He managed various difficulties the house presented to him with the expertise one would expect. Before long he finished the job. I tested the coaxial line and everything is operational. This entire experience has been fantastic and I even made a friend in Jeremy. I highly recommend this place. Prices are fair and the work is top quality. Not bad. they came when they said they would. But from start to finish I did not feel they valued me as customer. small requests like stop calling to see if we were available earlier than our scheduled date or to call me, not my wife were ignored - all week long till our scheduled appointment. So that was just annoying. Then there is the $300 just to show up fee. I feel if you have a pretty solid minimum fee that should be mentioned when setting up the appointment - not when tech walks in the door. So my specific repair went like this. I called and said "my circuit break trips when we turn on the oven". The tech showed up and mentioned the $300 thing before he would talk about repair. I just want it over so i say okay. He turns on oven, circuit breaker trips. He does it again and says "yep the circuit breaker trips when you turn on the oven". $300 to tell me what I told them a week earlier setting up appointment. So they didn't do anything they didn't say they would. He was very clear about minum charge before he would walk in the door so I did pay it. But I personally won't ever call them again. read more

Cale came to fix my bathroom vent fan. He was very patient and nice and went back to get the correct size fan once measuring it and then came back. It was good service, only it ended up costing extra $75 from what the estimate was. Hopefully the fan will work for many years! read more

Good quality work and great customer service. I felt the pricing was a bit expensive but I really don't have anything to compare it to. I spent $1100 to do the following work: troubleshoot/fix a 3-way switch (my hallway light can be turned on/off from 3 different switches but not all of them were working), install 2 GFI breakers for the kitchen, and replace two outlets (with outlets and covers that I bought). The electrician also looked at our electrical panel at no extra charge and gave his opinion on how to change the doorbell. The technician reviewed the work and the associated cost before performing any work so I knew exactly how much the work was going to cost. read more

I purchased a brand new dryer and it would not work. I thought for sure the dryer was bad. I called Lightning Bug Electric to come and take a look at the breaker. The electrician Justine came out the next day and examined the breaker and it was bad. My house was built in the late 1980's and after inspection the electrician Justin suggested I get a whole new breaker box. He took the time to show me how the box was worn out. He gave me an estimate on replacing the box. He also replaced the bad breaker and moved it to a new location in the box. The electrician Justin spent a lot of time explaining everything to me. Everything worked out okay and my new dryer is working great. We are planning on having Lightning Bug Electric come back out and replace the old breaker box sometime later this year. read more

I called Lightening Bug 8/18 and they came out the SAME day! Talk about quick. Steve and Jacob came out with masks and booties to do an estimate. An hour later (as promised) they came back with a ladder to replace my 2nd story foyer light and ceiling fan in my Owner's Suite. AMAZING job! We're soooo happy! Jacob was very knowledgeable and assembled my ceiling fan without any issues. He even asked if I wanted the fan to work via the remote or the switch. Steve made sure he didn't fall off that tall ladder all while making sure my light was perfectly straight! They work very well together as a team. Absolutely FUNNY and sweet! I used Lightning Bug a several months ago and while they are pricey for Charleston, were what I expected for anyone near Atlanta. Plus they were informative, helpful, the tenants seemed pleased - well, so was I. So I called them when the same lighting issue resurfaced. Matt called and explained the normal charges but said he needed to call his manager since they had fixed this earlier. He called later to say that he had examined the problem light switch and found it faulty. He was leaving to pick up a replacement but wanted me to know there would be No Charge. Thanks Matt! And thanks to his manager who knew I was out-of-state and would never know if they said it was something else. Hey Eddie, thanks for replying. The property is owned by Circle Property Group. This particular house is located at 2144 Rexford Dr 30034 I appreciate the concern but the job was permitted, passed with flying colors and even included moving the pole from the backside of the house to the side the city wanted it on. Passed first time so no need to worry Ed. He even patched the walls where a single outlet in the middle of the wall was knocked out empty and two outlets placed on the wall per code. This took place in both bedrooms and living room. Then, of course, the wall above and below the electrical panel. Not only did Lightning Bug do a crap job that was unable to pass code, but claimed there wasn't enough room in the box when in fact I had six open circuits in a 55 year old panel (that didn't need to be replaced ($1,500) and walked away with over $2,500 in bullshit electricity. Eddie, I've found that in any building contractor work NOT PERMITTED is always shoddy work. I should've permitted YOUR work Eddie but I couldn't. There's no such thing as a "kitchen permit". Eddie, your guys are either following policy set down by you, or you've got some electricians out of control, or incentivized to keep a percentage of their quotes. Eddie the house is a tiny 1,000 sqft, 2/1 home. It's impossible to justify $17,000. Just say'n Eddie read more
