Came in here on a Sunday, and surprised that a lot of shops at Rodeo 39 have closed down. I got the Kainoa Smash Burger! It was absolutely incredible, it had caramelized onions, pickles, and cheddar. It came with a side of tallow fries, which if you don't know are french fries cooked in beef tallow! It was only $9.99 which is super cheap in this economy. Everything is made fresh to order. The workers put our food away in very nice tupperware and napkins and the appropriate utensils and condiments. My boyfriend got the Island Chicken Bowl and he really enjoyed his food and it came with a side salad that had an orange vinagrette which was incredibly tasty!!! read more

I see all these amazing reviews and I wish I had the same experience as them but no such luck. Visited this place for the first time today and was so excited to try it especially since the pictures of the food looks so delicious. I ordered the Breezy Duo with pork adobo, longanisa, potato salad and garlic fried rice and couldn't wait to dig in. The potato salad was TASTELESS. It just tasted cold. No flavor. The adobo was anemic and needed more soy sauce. It was so watery the "soup" of the adobo went through the container and the paper bag. The longaniza was undercooked and the garlic rice just tasted like burnt rice and hardly any garlic flavor. The Jax Loco Moco and Longanisa Bowl are my two faves. My group and I tried the Tallow Fries for the first time today and we were blown away by the crunch and flavor packed in each bite. We went to Lil Brezzy on a Saturday night after we saw a favorable review in the paper. Ordering at the counter was straightforward with paper menus and a menu board. I had the barbeque chicken on banana leaves that came with "vegetables" and rice. I selected tallow fries instead of rice. The vegetables consisted of less than a quarter cup of cabbage and maybe a tablespoon of carrots with mushrooms. Ate dinner here again last night. Food was fantastic and has been consistently so each time we've eaten here. I ordered the Island Chicken bowl, but instead of rice, I asked for salad. They were able to accommodate my request. The bowl included pickled onions and a fried egg. My husband loves their Adobo Breakfast Burrito (I definitely need to try that next time). So I'm going to preface this by saying that this will be a First World Problem / "Waiter, my lobster is too buttery and my steak is too juicy" type review. I also am writing this review within an hour of having their food and it's half "oh I'm trying to be more active on Yelp / this place striked me as it deserves a review" I came into Rodeo39 today craving Primal Cutz, but I've not been back here since 6 months ago or longer because most of the stalls now are unfamiliar. I looked and was like: "oh Primal Cutz changed their sign" to notice it was different. Regardless I was still craving a smashburger and saw the price of the Kainoa Smashburger at $9.99 and $12.99 for a double. I didn't think much of it because you're buying from a small business and it's one of the more affordable things on their menu (not their problem, I'm broke, they need to make ends meet, prices are pretty fair!) The lady that took my order was very nice, and although I didn't have any questions because I knew what I wanted when I saw it. 15 or so minutes later, here comes the First World Problem review. For starters, it comes with fries, and that's a good thing, BUT they didn't mark it on their menu, while I was perfectly good with just a single burger because I need to cut down on carbs, it's always a nice surprise! I just wanted to give a tip to the owner(s) where if I order, and I get a bonus like fries, I'll be happy. While THERE ARE people out there who will see the price and be like "wow $9.99 and $12.99 for a singular burger at a food hall? No way." and make a really bad review about it. I thought getting fries was nice! I just don't want them to get marked down because people are sticklers for that. Another thing was the patty thickness, yes, it's VISIBLY smashed, but maybe I just don't know what 4oz's look like because MAN they were thicc. I'm used to the lattice style Smashburger, although, maybe now that I'm thinking of it, you do pay the same price for a 2oz patty anywhere else. Another thing to point out for me was the onions, they were almost a half onion-half caramelized taste to it, and I really liked that as for a place like In-N-Out, I DO get both types of onions. Fry texture was really good, in and out (haha) although I'd say it does feel like it's missing something in the flavor department, probably a pinch more salty, but man, texture and color, very nice. The meal as a whole, great flavor, burger was very well seasoned, sauce and pickles compliment and aren't overpowering one another, very nice if you're dragged here by friends and family and you can't afford the bowls (like me), but don't want to sit at the table eating nothing. Overall I'm not here eating in this area often, but if I want the luxury to not cook/if I'm in the area, I do hope this place survives the waves of places that comes and goes with Rodeo39! Tried lil' Breezy tonight! We had the Longanisa Bowl and the Island Chicken Bowl. Both of them so tasty and delicious and they came with a fresh side salad. Portions were definitely filling.
