we had been looking forward to trying Musubi Square out as we were in SoCal. the musubi tacos are everything you would imagine them to be. the crunch is impeccable. and the rice to filling ratio is well balanced. we tried the shrimp, unagi, and calamari ones. the shrimp and calamari are similarly prepared as they are both battered, so even more crunch effect. the calamari has more of a citrusy taste as it has yuzu. but all of them have the unagi sauce drizzle, so in all honestly, they start to taste similar after awhile. but still so yummy! we ordered the three for two people to share and it was just enough. each taco is $9-$12. they do also serve regular spam musubi if you want to go the traditional route. if none of these are your thing, they also have rice bowls which are filling. bulgogi beef, honey garlic pork or unagi plus some others. the restaurant is not very big and seating is very limited. takeout seemed to be a popular option. the owner was very friendly and hospitable and offered to rearrange the tables to accomodate our group's size. definitely adding to the SoCal rotation. read more

Flavours were on point and textures and sizes were pretty decent too. Why 3 stars? It's pretty pricey. For nearly $40+ worth of food, you don't feel like you got a meal out of it. It's hard for me to say if it's "worth it" because they did do a fantastic job with how everything tasted. The only item I was kind of disappointed in was the Korean bbq taco. A fun spam musubi fusion restaurant. Their menu has really interesting fillings and sauces. The seaweed taco shell is a very unique item that is worth trying! Service is friendly and very thoughtful. We were given plates to make sharing the food easier. The taco mususbi battered shell is very deep fried, so the seaweed holds its shape and does not get soggy which is great! I randomly came across this spot on Yelp and the food and reviews looked great. Sadly, this was such a disappointing meal, I'm shocked at just how bad it was. When I walked in there was no acknowledgement from the one cashier who was also working the kitchen or at least prepping orders. They are definitely understaffed and it shows in the slow service. She was very friendly at least while taking my order. I asked for a few recommendations and when it came to the musubi I asked what she recommended to which she said the crunchy shrimp musubi. I accepted but I didn't realize she rang me up for the korean bbq short rib musubi instead until I got my food, so that was another disappointment from the get go. The food definitely looks good but the flavor and quality doesn't take it very far from there. I started with the unagi taco musubi - the unagi itself was meaty, soft, and tasted great. The rice and crab underneat was pretty bland. And the seaweed "taco" shell was just odd. It wasn't quite crispy or crunchy and more stale. But the worst part was the amount of grease dripping from this. I couldn't even take a photo because my hands were COVERED in grease like I had stuck my hand in a bucket of oil. And the tray had a pool of grease. The korean short rib taco musubi was just as greasy and although there was a lot of short rib that actually tasted great, there was SO much fat in the meat that I kept spitting out pieces of short rib. About half way through I gave up and just tossed the rest of the taco. And lastly for the short rib musubi, again the flavor was good but it was mostly fat and gristle. When it gets like that, the dining area starts slipping, tables need wiping, trash and recycling pile up, and people end up standing around because no one wants to sit at dirty tables. It can feel pretty hectic. On slower days, though, everything is clean, organized, and running smoothly. Orders are taken quickly and the space looks well kept. It really depends on the timing, later nights tend to be the busiest. I've also seen boxes stacked down the hallway and even in the restroom before, which was a little off putting. If I'm reviewing strictly the food: 10/10. If I'm reviewing the restaurant experience overall: probably a solid 6. I liked this small spot I got so relax I had a relaxing time with a tarot reading as it seems comfortable spot to do so. The food was so delicious I would order more however it was enough for the day. I can tell the crispness is what got me wanting more. The service was fast and I had a good experience getting an informative conversation when asking what's good. read more

It's alright.... Foods... edible. People were nice. Just that the price is high for something just okay. We got soft shell crab masubi, not bad, probably the best of the items we got. But I think a spider roll anywhere else would've been tastier. It did come out crispy inside the masubi though so it was fresh. But there wasn't a whole lot of it. We also got the Wagyu and feta masubi taco and an unagi masubi taco. Wanted to try the influencer hyped crispy tacos. They weren't crispy not crunchy... more like hard and stale. Wanted to like it so much after those insta videos. But it was a let down. The fillings in them were okay... but like... just okay. Again a roll at some chain sushi joint is better. Along with a side of brussel sprouts it was about $39 before tip. Wait took a bit cause of all the door dash. While my experience wasn't bad, it wasn't anything that was worthy of all the hype. I'd rather go to the other side of the building and grab a Vietnamese coffee and some pho for less. read more
