    4. Hawaiian BBQ Mix
    Ariana M.

This place is right by my gym and honestly, it was so worth it!! This platter was $15.99 before tax.... I thought I was a bit pricey until I opened the box. The Hawaiian BBQ comes with 2 scoops of rice, Mac salad, kalbi, beef, and chicken on a bed of cabbage. Food breakdown: - beef short ribs were so tender - beef was so flavorful & tender as well - chicken wasn't my favorite but it was pretty good as it was packed with flavor What carried this dish was the teriyaki sauce! They had a self serve pump on the side and I recommend getting 2+ for this dish (if you like sauce) I wasn't a fan of the katsu sauce but I also didn't get katsu so that could've been it too. The service was really nice. I felt a bit bad cause I kept changing my order since there was so many items to pick from but the cashier was really patient with me. They had ample seating area and plenty of parking but I decided to take my food to go.

Was craving Loco Moco and spam musubi for dinner and decided to grab takeout from Aloha Hawaiian. The place was busy, so there was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it once I got home and dug in. Even though I ordered to go, the restaurant had a warm, casual island vibe. The laid back atmosphere and friendly energy made it feel welcoming, even during the dinner rush. The Loco Moco really hit the spot. I especially loved that it came with steamed cabbage, which added a nice, fresh balance to the richness of the dish. The portion size was generous, so much so that I had enough leftovers for another meal the next day. The spam musubi was tasty and made a great appetizer to start things off. Overall, a satisfying meal that delivered on flavor and comfort. I will definitely be back when the craving hits again.

Good and quick spot if you're looking for some Hawaiian food! The prices were pretty good considering they PACK!! their plates. We got one combo plate (chicken katsu/beef) for around $15.99 and one beef plate for $14.99. With how much meat they give it, it can honestly be two meals. The mac salad was also yummy too. The service was quick, mainly just in and out. It wasn't busy when I went (a Sunday afternoon) and parking wasn't bad either. There was a lot of seating area and they also had a TV inside. I would come back again if I was in the area!

    An inviting sign.

We have many choices as it comes to Hawaiian BBQ. We've been to most, but by chance we saw the Aloha Hawaiian BBQ sign. We really thought it was on Garden Grove Blvd. We found the parking and it was easy right up front. Inside we were met by a helpful young server named Karen. The lovely missus' choice was the Chicken and Beef Combo, but she did not want the leafy vegetable. She did load up on a couple of Teriyaki Sauce containers which came in real handy later on. I was a bit hesitant but then decided that for a comparison with other places, I chose the standard Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, two scoops rice and 1 scoop Mac Salad and a good portion of the leafy cabbage vegetable. It didn't take very long and a CC is accepted for payment. They have a tip jar and the lovely missus made sure some dollars were put in the jar for Karen. Wow, the carry bag is heavy and once we got home we were amazed at the abundant volume of chicken pieces and beef portion in our combos. Each was filled to the brim and I might add that the taste was as if I got it at the local drive thru in Kauai. I think we got a winner here at Aloha Hawaiian BBQ and we will be back.

This place was such a pleasant surprise! I drive by it all the time going to Hmart and didn't know what I wanted for dinner except I wanted something tasty. I ordered the mini meal katsu plate $11.95 including tax but really feels like a good enough full plate. Feels like 1.5-2 chicken thighs sliced up katsu, rice and Mac salad over steamed cabbage. Katsu and Teriyaki sauce as much as you'd like as a side condiment. Service is descent. Only one star less cause the area is super sketch with tons of homeless and shady things going on at that intersection.

Nice location at the Corner of Beach and Garden Grove Blvd in the Walmart parking lot. Menu is extensive and includes more than teriyaki bbq with items like Spam Musubi and other appetizers. Service was quick and friendly. They have a large seating area if you want to eat in. I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Mix Plate with Beef, Chicken, and 1 KBBQ Style Rib this plate is big enought for 2 people or to take home for 2nds or maybe even 3rds.

Where's the health inspector when you need one? These ppl gave me uncooked food; I never asked for undercooked meat. it was basically raw ground beef in the middle (and burnt around the edges). E. Coli status. There was no apology and not even an offer to replace or recook it, and I wasn't about to drive all the back to argue with them for $16.49. You can keep that. I will never eat at this f*cken place again. Disgusting.

$42.99 for the Aloha Family Meal; comes with 3 items, rice, mac salad & vegetables - Protein options: bbq chicken, teriyaki chicken, curry chicken, curry chicken katsu, chicken katsu, bbq beef (upcharge $2.40) - 6 scoops rice - 6 scoops macaroni salad - "Vegetables" is steamed cabbage under the protein $15.99 Hawaiian BBQ mix: short ribs and bbq chicken with 1 scoop mac salad and 1 scoop rice This was our first time to Aloha Hawaiian BBQ but I had to trust the reviews and see for myself. Located in the Walmart Neighboorhood market, the area can be a hit or miss. There's typically homeless on the grassy areas but they've for the most part kept to themselves. We did witness someone come in and steal from the Dominos a few doors down and the employees were annoyed but it clearly was not the first time it had happened. Just know your surroundings. My husband wanted to try the short ribs but they do not come a la carte or as a option for the Aloha family meal, so we had to order both. While our to go order was being assembled I was given 2 containers for the teriyaki sauce which dispensed quite liquidy so I was mentally prepared to have blown $60 on a taste bud dissapointment. The bbq chicken and curry chicken are identical as they are both marinated and grilled whole thighs. The curry sauce comes on the side and although it was quite tasty and I enjoyed the kick of heat, it had congealed in the time it took to get home. Even cold, I've never had curry congeal so I'm unclear if they used flour to thicken it. Not a deterrant, just a comment...I would still try it again. "Vegetables" ended up being sheets of steamed cabbage which I enjoyed but I was hoping it would be a cold slaw to balance out the meal. BBQ beef was an upcharge and very dry with a odd jerky / overcooked texture. We were in agreement we would not order that again. The short ribs were tasty but very thin and you only get 2 in the combo meal. Personally I felt it was not worth the spend and will only be coming back for the chicken options. Teriyaki sauce was runny but did not taste watered down when I ate it. All in all, a solid replacement for my Hawaiian Loft / L&L cravings as prices had increased post pandemic and the portions felt reduced at both restaurants. We had plenty of leftovers for another meal. I will definitely add Aloha BBQ into our rotation.

    Menu

The moment you walk smells like a homeless place. That should have been a warning sign to go back and walk out the door. I ordered the bbq plate and the beef itself tasted old. The katsu chicken was good. The short ribs was full of fat and no meat. I got diarrhea from this place so I definitely wouldn't come back. The smell had a stench of old rag. But I'm glad they were able to refund my money the same day.

Doesn't seem like anyone picks up the phone during business hours when I try to call. Anyone experienced this?

Can you email me your catering prices please?

Hi Jacqueline. Please email me at alohabbq12880@yahoo.com or private message your email to me and I will be glad to send you all pertinent information. You are also more than welcome to call our store for detailed catering specifications. Thank you!

How big are the portions for catering? Would 4 Medium katsu chicken, BBQ beef, shrimp, and mac salad be enough for 20 people?

Each medium tray is enough for 10 to 15 people. 3 trays of each would be more than enough for 20. If you would like, I would recommend 2 small (each enough for 5-7) and one medium tray, along with mac salad. Thank you.

Can someone please post a catering menu with prices?

Hi Courtney! Please private message me your email address and I will be glad to send you catering prices. Also, you can reach us at anytime via phone so that our friendly cashiers can address any catering questions and prices including taxes. Thanks!

Along with that, our table also ordered: the quail with sticky rice ($20.99), salted fish and shrimp fried rice ($24.99), shaken beef with garlic noodles ($22.99), bok choy with sautéed garlic ($12.99), a hot tea ($4.00), Coca-Cola ($5.50), a mojito ($15.00), and a margarita ($15.00). With tax ($17.71), our ticket was $209.16 before gratuity. The NOLA Grilled Oysters come sizzling on a hot griddle, with four different fillings, four pieces each, for a total of 16 oysters. The price might seem a bit indulgent, but not if you consider the effort and ingredients that go into this presentation. Each type was flavorful, and there wasn't a single one I didn't enjoy. The salted fish fried rice was an interesting experience. I enjoyed the dish, though the salted fish was less salty than I expected. Someone in our group, who usually doesn't like salted fish fried rice because they find it too salty, actually liked this version for its milder flavor. The plate also includes four large shrimp. The shaken beef was tasty and tender; the garlic noodles were al dente and had just enough garlic--not excessive. The sautéed garlic added a smoky, nutty taste to the bok choy. The quail was marinated well and tasted good--but I wonder if it was fried just a bit too long. After this meal, I chatted with a friend who lives in the community. He'd been to this spot before but dismissed it as just another seafood boil joint. After our conversation, though, he said he'd be willing to give it another shot. I guess your impression of this restaurant depends, at least in part, on what you order. The service, by the way, was excellent. The dining environment was clean and comfortable, with plenty of television screens so people could keep up with World Cup matches.

Came to OC & Lau on a Saturday afternoon and luckily it wasn't too packed. The food was…read morespectacular. We got the spicy stir fried squid, filet mignon udon noodles, abalone, and clams with cheese. The squid was probably my favorite, the sauce had so much flavor and the squid was cooked perfectly with a really good texture. I just wish the bell peppers were cooked a little more. The filet mignon was super tender, and I loved the chewy udon noodles and sauce. The abalone and cheesy clams were also really good. We also tried the coconut kumquat and the strawberry soda version, both refreshing and flavorful. I liked the ambiance too. My only complaint was the service. We had to flag our waiter down a few times and eventually went to the front to pay after waiting longer than expected. They did give us a free dessert though, which was a nice surprise. Overall, the food absolutely delivered and I'd come back. 9/10

Folks always talk about how there are certain types of restaurants they avoid. Mostly it's because…read more they don't like the taste of the cuisine. Or maybe they like the cuisine, but for health reasons they've been told to avoid eating it. I know for me I just haven't come around to a lot of Asian cuisines that are focused on high vegetable and low protein content. But to this day Toby and I have never shared a seafood boil together. She has a germaphobe reaction to eating food with her hands and there's no easy way to knife-and-fork stuff like shrimp, crawfish, crab, or lobster. She's offered to get something else like fish n' chips or a plain steak or something, while I get myself a boil. However, one of the joys of boils is digging into a mound of Cajun-flavored seafood together as a group effort. A wondrous temple to the art like Roux Seafood Kitchen would be wasted on her. I couldn't get enough of their shrimp and crawfish. They were both plump, flavorful, and disassembled easy in my hands. At a lb. each, I was more than stuffed at meal's end. I think the only thing that could've made it better is if I had ordered a lobster tail in there. That would've been my ideal order. The service was great here for my party. The drinks were refilled quickly, the food was brought out in an efficient manner, and even the order taking was controlled in what kind of have been haphazard conditions. I liked the ambiance too. The dining room was a spacious and accommodating. The music was low. And the crowds were busy but not super full, which is where I like it. Nobody was on top of each other at neighboring tables and the noise level wasn't drowning. All in all, I think this is the perfect example of a seafood boil joint. The only thing that could've made it better is if my oldest eating buddy (and ex) could've miraculously gotten over her condition and joined me. That's the dream.

This festive News Orieans-inspired resto with Asian flair in Huntington Beach did not disappoint!…read moreIt's a few miles away from the beach, but it is on busy Beach Blvd! We just ordered two staples: Jambalaya & Shrimp Etoufee. Entrees came out in about 20 minutes hot, fresh & amply sized. They're reasonably priced, too! I'm glad we didn't order any apps b/c the entrees were more than enough food. Thought about getting the beignets, but I could not find any more room to fit them in! I had a glass of KJ Chardonnay to accompany the meal and it was pleasant. Service was very friendly and helpful from both servers working today. 5% discount if you use cash! Plenty of parking in the lot. Peace.
