I love a good burger and to me this just isn't one. The bun is good, the patty was mediocre and the toppings were blah. I added a fried egg and it tasted like a hard boiled egg, it was cooked way too long! The french fried were just ok. I didn't order a shake and don't think I ever would because their burgers put me off. Honestly I think there are too many good burgers within a 2 mile radius to settle for Lil Woody's. First off, let me say that I love this restaurant, but that this review is for orders that have been delivered. Every single time we've ordered from Li'l Woody's for delivery - doesn't matter what delivery service - they screw it up. Every time. The order goes through without issue but shows up completely wrong. Wrong burgers, missing items that should be on it, random items that shouldn't be added, special requests ignored, you name it and it's happened. Even the receipt that's stapled to the bag reflects the order went through correctly, it's just whoever is making the burgers is ignoring it. I order delivery frequently, and rarely do we ever have an issue with our orders regardless of restaurant or delivery service....except Li'l Woody's, and it's every damn time. I love their burgers and I'll keep ordering them in person (which are never wrong), but I'll never order from them for delivery again. TL;DR: Pay attention to your damn delivery orders! read more

Finally decided to try this place after being hesitant with mixed reviews. I got the Lil Woody burger, side of fries and strawberry milkshake. The milkshake was not a hit unfortunately, but the food was very good. I'm glad I gave them a shot! Like other reviewers, it's def better than 8oz and Totem House. "The crack" is a huge basket of fries that we were not able to finish and you dip them in your choice of ice cream. We got the espresso. New businesses always get such a rough start on Yelp. But C'mon guys - Li'l Woody's! Winners of LOTS of burger awards in Seattle, the flagship location of this bad ass burger joint is in Capitol Hill. Now with a Ballard location I just knew I had to try it out for myself. What I love about this company is that they're super proud of this city. And not just for burger culture but food culture. Owned and operated by locals, both locations are screaming with Seattle pride. And even though Capitol Hill and Ballard can feel like they belong in two different worlds, both spots fit right in at their respective locations. The Ballard joint is a perfect fit, it's in a perfect location, and finally there are some affordable kick ass burgers in that neck of the woods. For me, nothing beats the pig and the fig. I also love the fries and the Molly Moon's shakes. Tucked away next to a movie theater, this is the perfect place to grab a bite before a show. No more $16 candy/popcorn deals, just spend $16 here and you'll get enough food to feed two of you! read more

I have been frequenting lil woody's more often and things have been going pretty well. Burgers are consistent. Not fabulous but not terrible. This review stems directly from the customer service I've received here. As I sit here and write this review i am appalled at the way I was treated by a young member of the staff who took my order. Today, I brought my little brother along and since he is a child he requests special things on his burger. I requested a copy of the receipt and went to my seat to review it and have some water. I noticed that receipt hadn't omitted a condiment that he would not eat. I walked back up to the front counter (mind you my brother and I are the only two customers in the place at lunch time) three employees are all huddled together talking about something and it takes them a little while to realize that I'm standing there. I simply ask the woman who placed my order to ensure the burger would have no mayo. SHE ROLLED HER EYES AT ME!!!!!! I am the customer and my needs come before anything! You never treat your customers this way. I was simply making sure that my 7 year old brother wouldn't have a melt down. I don't care how decent the food is I will officially NEVER return to lil woody's again. Hipster spot serving up a pretty darn good burger. But I have to majorly dock them points because of the poor customer service. I don't care about spending $20 on a burger, fries and a shake when it tastes really good, but forgive me for having an expectation that I'm going to possibly get a smile and some decent attention from the staff. I honestly stood there waiting about 5 minutes to place my to-go order when there were 3-4 staffers standing around eating their own food and having social hour as though no one was around. I don't like being snubbed at places and I don't think that many people do. Major turnoff for me, which stinks because I was actually very jazzed about the food. My Molly Moon's milkshake was incredible. I'll be back because I want my husband to try their burger since he is a burger afficonado, but I don't think I'd recommend this place to many of my friends looking for a fun, laid-back environment with nice folks running it. read more

Alright, I'm being a little generous here. The service was fine, the establishment was clean, the portions were good. The downside here is that the food is hilariously over-priced and it's not even that tasty. The burger size and composition looked about right but biting into it left me so underwhelmed. The patty, while up to my standards in size, tasted more along the lines of a meat loaf instead of a burger patty. The onion rings on the side tasted fine and were at least nice and fresh. Yummy burgers! I wanted to post this mainly to let the management know that the pricing on the website is different from the pricing at the Ballard location. (Not sure about the cap hill location). I placed a to go order for the trotter and a milkshake. When I got there to pick it up there was just the burger and the milkshake there (no fries). I asked him how much the burger was and he said $9. On the website it says the Trotter is $8 and shows a picture of it with french fries (so, naturally, I assumed that was the price for the burger and fries combined). When I informed him about the website pricing he offered to grab me some fries but I wasn't so worried about it, the gesture was kind enough. $16 for a burger and milkshake does seem a bit steep though. Just thought you might want to get the website fixed asap so that next time you don't have someone throw a fit. The next person might not be so understanding. I manage a restaurant myself and I know that things can slip through the cracks at times, and the worst is when you don't know about it! Also, if you could put somewhere on your website an email that customers can reach management at so that we don't have to post things like this to the entire world :) Other than those few things this would be a 5 star place :) I will be going back next time I have a burger craving. read more

Other reviewers here are correct. the staff seems to have no regard for health code. I have repeatedly seen the back of house staff with their hands in their hair and eyes and nose and then continue to cook food without any hand washing. The food is like ordering a bun full of grease, maybe if they cooked the fat out at all you would be able to taste the meat. also the two times i ordered food here they messed my order up. Once i made my own burger and they forgot two of four toppings, which is unacceptable when you charge per topping. The ice cream is their saving grace, but there is always this thuggish looking guy walking around in there, i think hes the owner but he seems rude whenever i see him talking to customers. overall: poor inattentive service, dirty greasy food, and not a place to bring family or out of towners. if you want molly moons try the branch in wallingford on 45th, no unpleasant employees or greasy food! read more

Literally got severe food poisoning after my first time here yesterday. My friend and I suffered 104 fevers for hours on hours with all the other gross symptoms including such bad muscle aches and cramps that we couldn't move for 6 hours. Never ever again. I really hate giving bad reviews but this was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. I had the fig and the pig, first the burger itself was incredibly dry and the added ingredients (all of which I liked separately) didn't seem to be blending well together and didn't help the burger at all. Our fries were sad and soggy and I had really been looking forward to dipping them into some ice cream but that only made them soggier. I did enjoy the ice cream but you can't go wrong with Molly Moon's but this isn't a review for that. Sorry to say but unless I hear of some people having some outstanding food here I would be unlikely to ever venture in again. read more

I've been to the Capitol Hill location many times and was excited when Lil Woody's opened a new location in Ballard. My girlfriend and I came here a week after opening and I finally got to try their New Mexican burger (with real hatch chiles). It was delicious, though I think it could have used a bit more queso sauce. The real show-stealer was the "Fig and the Pig," with pickled figs (from the Boat Street Cafe), bacon and gorgonzola. It has so much complexity from different but complementary flavors--it is a masterpiece of burger design. Instead of ordering fries we shared a side of onion rings, which were cooked perfectly. They were not dripping with grease--the team at Lil Woody's clearly knows how to use a deep fryer properly. I'd like to see some additional sauce options (chipotle ranch, perhaps). Lil Woody's has sriracha though, so I blended that with some ketchup to achieve delicious and spicy results. When we were there they had beer from Odin Brewing and Georgetown--including Johnny Utah, Georgetown's fantastic (and sessionable) IPA. If you want a case of diabetes they have hand-dipped milkshakes made with Molly Moon's ice cream. I only have two complaints. The first is that my burger was well done. I'd like some pink. Can we have it cooked to order? I wasn't asked. The other issue is that their 2-seater tables are oddly shaped--they're very long and narrow. It made it a little awkward to converse and it felt cramped. Oh, and the buns they use here are great! Anyone who says otherwise is entitled to their opinion. But they're still wrong. read more

I was in the area and my stomach was calling for food. As I walked down Market street there were a myriad of options to choose from but I was craving a burger and fries. Saw Lil Woodys and thought I'd give it a shot. Got the Lil Woody burger and queso fries to go. Got home and dug in. First off the fries, albeit a tad salty for me, were hand cut and delicious. Crispy in parts, a little greasy in others...that just how I like it. The queso was SO good!!!! If you like cheese sauce you must try. You get a large portion and it's only $5. Next the burger. Well, it was a little dry in certain parts and some parts were good. It was a decent burger but not great. But maybe it's because I got the "plain jane" burger on the menu. I'm going back just for the queso fries and I'll try the burger again, maybe it's better if you eat it there. Overall a solid 3 stars. read more

I had assumed that the burgers came with fries, because that's how the burgers are pictured on their website, but they don't. :( Other than the fries, though, I was underwhelmed. My boyfriend's burger came at first without the cheese he wanted, and mine came with unmelted cheese. They were kind of bland. Kombucha came in wee little cups, not the larger beer cups, even though the kombucha costs as much as a beer. Lots of kids, which is super if you have/like kids and... less so if you don't. Overall it's expensive for what you get ($27 for two burgers w/cheese, two kombuchas, and a basket of fries). Two stars for the two days they have been in business! Tried this place during the Ballard Seafood fest a couple weeks ago because I wanted to get out of the swarms of people. I got the Lil'Woody and for the portion size, I thought the price was right. I mean, a meal at a fast food restaurant usually runs more than $4.50.. so I was ok paying that. A lot of people are saying they thought the place was expensive, it looked like all the other burgers were in the $8 range, so I can see how people think that is pricey for a burger and fries... but if you keep it basic, it's not bad. The burger itself was ok. A little salty... they had thrown too much seasoning on it that's for sure. Now the fries... they were reallllly salty. Don't get me wrong, I like my salt for sure, but this made it to the point where the fries were almost inedible. I was scraping salt off and my boyfriend immediately made a face after he had a handful. My taste buds are sensitive to too much of a good thing - if I have too much salt or too much sour my taste buds rebel against me. Surprise, the next day my taste buds were making me hate life. Don't know if it was just the cook that day, but seriously lay off the salt. I might be in the minority by saying this, but I would rather have my food under seasoned in a case like this. read more

My husband and I really wanted some food while in Ballard, so we stopped in and decided to do it because we were tired of walking around looking at menus. He got the black bean burger, I got the salmon burger and we shared fries and a shake. Neither of us enjoyed our burgers, which I feel were thrown on the menu so people who don't eat beef have something to eat. The peppers were really out of place on the salmon burger. The fries were mediocre. The only delicious part was the shake, because you can't go wrong with Mollie Moon's. Overall, ho-hum. But the space is nice, and it has cute decor. read more

Well, it's really good food and it's great having a semi-Molly Moon's in the neighborhood but it's way too expensive. The issue is the fries. If they just added a small amount of fries to every basket and kept the prices the same it would seem like a deal while probably costing them maybe $.50 more per order. If you do decide to order a basket of fries for yourself they are $2.50 and you will get enough for 3 people. Which is great, unless you are eating there on your own. So it's great for groups and I heartily recommend anything with their queso but they gotta come across on the portions. Eight bucks for a burger the size of a regular cheeseburger at McDonald's is just too steep. The quality is infinitely better of course but you don't walk out feeling full, you walk out feeling fleeced. Edit: everything has improved except that I miss the Molly Moon's. I've eaten here three times. The most recent visits were noteworthy and similar. The burger patty always seems burnt tasting. The fries are always of the limp/soggy/dark variety, not crisp as I prefer. I always feel bad eating these type of fries because they seem to have been fried badly in low temperature oil and therefore soaked up a lot of oil. Per my girlfriend's craving, we drove out to Li'l Woody in Ballard for a burger. Finding a parking spot in Ballard is always a challenge, but we managed to find one not too far from the restaurant! (Lucky us!!) Li'l Woody's is a cozy burger joint serving Painted Hills beef burgers as well as non-beef options. I ordered a salmon burger (smoked & fresh salmon, cabbage with vinegar & salt, Mama Lil's peppers, and tartar sauce according to their menu). My friend ordered a Big Woody and house-made queso & fries (to share with me!). Our burgers came out pretty quickly, and the buns looked absolutely adorable! (Is it weird to call a burger adorable??) My salmon burger was tasty especially with sriracha sauce. (Anything tastes good with sriracha sauce though...) I did taste my friend's burger, and it was a good (not fantastic, but solid) burger. The fries were a bit soggy, and the queso had too much cumin for my taste. However, I ate them anyway as I rarely get fries and my inner *obese* child loves any kind of fries. I don't think I'd order the fries myself, but if someone else orders them I might try some. I'd also go back there to try their veggie burger. read more

Always in search of the "Best Burger", I have become both connoisseur and humble patron of many a burger establishment - always appreciative of the subjective nature in judging a burger (please note however you can judge a burger by its bun!) Visited Li'l Woody's Saturday night after attending a charity auction and suffering through a hotel catered chicken dinner and cheap alcohol. Long story short - the "Big Woody" hit the sport and sits easily in the top 10 Seattle burgers. Complementing the award winning main characters (burgers of course) are fantastic fries and shakes and dipping sauces (don't forget those crazy things!) - which play wonderful supporting roles deserving of awards in and of themselves. These guys have got the right idea when it comes o making a dang good burger. Recommendations: "The Fig and Pig" which is a burger with bacon, pickled fig spread, and blue cheese. After trying this, I strongly feel most everything should have their pickled fig spread on it! (Mix it with the chile from "The New Mexican" and it's heaven) "The New Mexican"- as a pound born and bred New Mexican, I was obligated to try this Berger bearing the namesake of my homeland. It was incredibly good. The roasted Hatch green chile was of course the selling point. I think it could do without the mass of "queso cheese" sauce and would do well with a slice of Monterey Jack cheese in its place. Craving a good old dirty burger? Give Lil' Woody's a try. read more

Two hours later I started getting painful stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomited up everything I ate (all at the same time)! The burger wasn't good either. The patty was cold and dried. I wanted a burger, but didn't know what kind of burger so I just ordered the Fig burger. Very interesting. I enjoyed it and would probably order it again.
