We always enjoy Lil Bits, wonderful service and great tasting food. Cooked to order, so it comes out hot. Lovely service and feel at home when we visit. Lots of seating indoors and outside too.

    The works
    Mandy F.

HUGE portions on the breakfast, shareable for sure. I got myself the works omelet and sub in bacon instead of ham. Bacon, bellpepper, onions, mushroom, cheese, avocado and topped with some sour cream! Really good meal Comes with house potatoes and your choice of bread , I went with sourdough. They also had home made salsa and jam that they provided at the table. Service was amazing and very attentive. You can either sit inside or outside. Plenty of space.

Food was wonderful for a nice in the cut breakfast spot. You can get the eggs however you want them. Unfortunately the servers were not as friendly and it affected my experience . Maybe because it was really busy on Valentine's Day and they were overwhelmed. Regardless the food was good

The "Popeye" with wheat toast and coffee; just awesome!!!
    Jason S.

Food is always great and portions are substantial. Service is great every time- I usually sit at the counter when it's just me but there is plenty of seating in front and in back of the place. Ordered the "Popeye," which is my go to breakfast (spinach, bacon, mushrooms all on top of home fries). A MUST with breakfast is their homemade salsa which is hotter than hell; but SO DAMN GOOD! This place is a Grover Beach institution- come here and eat well!

Dirty windows, torn screen, peeling paint, food on carpet.

Both the food and the service is good,BUT the restaurant just needs to be cleaned up. The windows were dirty, the screens were torn, nobody had picked up the crumbs and bits of paper off the carpeting, the paint was peeling off the walls. The food wasn't cheap, but good. Coffee was $4.50 which seems high. But the main reason we won't be back as it just seemed dirty inside

    Homemade corn beef and hash!!!

I never asked for corn beef and hash, but I had it here one time and I've been addicted every since! It's homemade and it really has such great flavor. I highly recommend the corn beef and hash.

Amazing home made food! The country scramble and Popeyes scramble will keep us full til dinner! Great coffee but best of all service is on point!

The prices here are really good. The food is really great. The bacon and the sausage are cooked the way I enjoy it not super crispy and crunchy but just good pancakes were great eggs were on point and the potatoes were really good too. There was one server to handle the whole restaurant so you can't complain about things that take long but everything was quick and fast. Definitely coming back here when I'm back in town.

    Monte Cristo Sandwich
    Mauricio G.

This sandwich is hands down one of the best I've ever had! It was my first time trying the Monte Cristo, and wow, the homemade jam and French toast flavor were amazing. It's definitely a 5-star sandwich, and the service was even better. Our waiter was so polite, courteous, and attentive; she deserves 5 stars too, and the place was small and nice very welcoming, homey type of feeling. My daughter had the meat lovers omelette with French toast, and she loved it too. I highly recommend this place to anyone thinking about eating here.

Bbq chicken wrap ( he added the fries ) so yummy!

Are we back to a new normal where we can eat at the counter again?

I believe so. When I ate there a little while back we sat at the counter

What do you put in your gravy? We don't eat pork so I wanted to ask ahead. Everything looks delicious!

I believe it's sausage gravy. Most breakfast gravy is made with either sausage or bacon grease.

I've had them at plenty of places, and these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. The beans, pico de gallo and chorizo sauce were so good together. I ordered mine with soft corn tortillas instead of crispy ones and scrambled eggs, which I definitely preferred. My husband and I also shared the tiramisu French toast, which was delicious and a HUGE portion, so come hungry! The kids' menu is very generous, maybe even a little too generous if your kids have smaller appetites. My 11-year-old got the $12 pancake meal with eggs and sausage but could really only finish the pancake. We took the eggs and sausage back to the hotel, but honestly they'll probably end up getting thrown out. For my 5-year-old, we just ordered a pancake by itself for about $4, and he only ate about a quarter of that. So if your kids don't eat a lot, I'd definitely recommend ordering the $4 pancake by itself instead of the full kids' breakfast. In hindsight, I would've done that for both of mine. Overall, the food was excellent and the portions were very generous. We'd absolutely come back the next time we're in the area. Highly recommend!

The English muffin is all doughy and not toasted. I shouldn't have to ask them to toast an English muffin. That's just common sense. The eggs were very runny and the bacon was mostly fat and not crispy and it was too salty to eat. The hollandaise sauce is very salty as well and to much on top. They are not flexible or accommodating to a customer's requests. They also charge a 3% fee for using a credit card. No thanks. (That's one way to lose business.) The lights are very low and strange. You have to adjust your eyes. Way too dark in there. Parking is not easy. We won't be back.

We both ordered the seafood platter for lunch, and chose the soup as the side (one clam chowder, one chicken tortilla). While the wait staff was very good and the wait time was typical for noontime, once the food arrived, the quality of the meal was quite substandard, especially for this area. I have never had such gristly fish, ever. I had to work hard to cut through it with a typical butter knife. It had no flavor and was unpleasant to chew. There was no flakiness to any of the four pieces. The shrimp was good, but I assume it was frozen. The cocktail sauce and the tartar sauce were both delicious, but it just wasn't enough to mask the texture of the fish. I then tried the chicken tortilla soup since the waiter recommended it. Instead of chicken meat, it has chicken skin. Gross. I will say the clam chowder was very good, and I regretted not ordering it. I'm sorry to say we won't be back unless just for a cup of chowder and a beer.

The individual working the register has bakery items on a rack that is eye level to her. She is constantly flopping her hair back and forth. In addition I noticed that when a server came out to clean tables and dirty dishes, they would put them in the sink and then just to grab food items to serve. They didn't even wash their hands! After I noticed that I had been waiting for a long time, I asked the person at the register about my food. She looked over to the rack and my food was just sitting there for an ample amount of time. All she could say was (very awkwardly) sorry. I decided to keep my cool and hoped the food was going to be okay, but when I got home there was hair in my plate.

I arrived around 12:00 p.m. and was warmly greeted by a young Hispanic hostess, who seated me in the very back corner of the restaurant where there were no other guests. I waited until approximately 12:10 p.m. before she returned and asked if anyone had taken my order yet. I told her they had not. During that time, another group of gentlemen was seated toward the front of the restaurant. They received their drinks and appetizers before anyone had even come to take my drink order. That was the first moment I realized something wasn't right. Writing this review is difficult because I genuinely dislike making issues about race. I believe that accusations of discrimination should never be made lightly. However, what happened next left me deeply unsettled. The hostess walked over to several servers who were gathered near the kitchen area. From where I was sitting, it appeared she was trying to find someone to serve me. None of the servers responded until a young woman standing near the register said out loud, "I'll just help him." At that moment, I couldn't help but wonder what was happening. I was the only Black customer in the restaurant. There were more servers than guests, several employees had made eye contact with me, and yet no one had come to my table. Whether intentional or not, I was made to feel overlooked and unimportant. When the server finally came to my table, I only ordered an appetizer because I was seriously considering leaving. I had specifically come for the fried green tomatoes, so I decided to stay. Even then, the appetizer took another 15 minutes to arrive, while other customers continued receiving their food and drinks at what appeared to be a normal pace in a restaurant that was not busy. Eventually, my entrée arrived, but for the remainder of my visit I felt completely ignored. When it was time to leave, I walked to the front to pay my bill myself. Despite how I felt, I still left a tip because I believe in treating people with kindness and respect regardless of my experience. I'm sharing this review not out of anger, but because I want management to understand how this experience made me feel. I left feeling disrespected, overlooked, and expendable. Whether what happened was intentional or simply poor service, the impact was the same. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location, and I sincerely hope no one else leaves feeling the way I did.
