I believe my server's name was Kira (that's the name on my receipt). Kira was rude and had bad customer service. She told me she was the manager and owner, which was surprising, as she had a poor attitude. Here are the facts: My daughter ordered the kid's chicken strips, and when I got the receipt, Kira charged me for, "#1 Three Egg Combo". So, I showed Kira the receipt and told her she accidentally charged me for this instead of the kid's chicken strips. Kira's response was, "No, that's correct, and I actually saved you a dollar." I was surprised, and said, "My daughter ordered the kid's chicken strips." Her response was, "You have to be 9 and under; it clearly says 9 and under on the menu." I was taken aback, because she never asked me how old my daughter was (last month, my daughter turned 11, but she never asked). Additionally, when we ordered, my daughter looked at the menu and told me she wanted chicken strips. Then, I looked at Kira and told her, "She'll have the kid's chicken strips." I explained this to Kira, and said she allowed my daughter to order off the kid's menu, and never told us that she couldn't. She responded, "You have to be 9 and under; it clearly says 9 and under on the menu." I responded "Ok, I missed that, but I ordered kid's chicken strips and you never told me I couldn't." She said, "I have four children and I always pay full price." I responded, "Ok, but why didn't you say anything before, when we ordered; then, you give us a surprise bill?" Kira responded, "I don't know what to tell you." Kira kept saying, "It clearly says 9 and under on the menu," but their menu has errors. For example, my husband ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with no cheese. Kira responded, "That doesn't come with cheese." My husband showed her the menu that said the sandwich came with cheese, and her response was, "I don't know why it says that; it doesn't come with cheese; I order that sandwich like four times a week." We had a party of six (four adults and two children), and lil Bits Café charges 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. However, this automatic gratuity should be off the subtotal, and lil Bits Café charges you this gratuity off of the total, which includes the tax. You cannot charge gratuity off of the tax. I showed Kira the receipt and she looked confused, so, I showed her the math with my calculator. Her response was, "I don't know why it did that, it has never done that before." I responded, "Well, you charged me off the tax; I showed you the math." Kira smugly responded, "I can do the math myself." I responded, "Ok, but you're charging us off of the total, and you can't do that." She rudely placed three dollars on the table, and said something along the lines of, "Here, happy?" Since she was being rude, I pointed out that she also charged us for a split plate. There was no good faith disclosure. Kira, annoyingly responded, "Here," and threw two dollars on the table, but she said she would not do anything for the chicken strips. When I left, Kira followed me outside and told me, "Don't come back." Then, she waited for my husband, stood in front of him, and told him the same thing. I did not mention this to Kira, but after we left, I noted that she also charged my daughters for adult drinks. I think a drink may have been included with the kid's meal, but if it was not, their cups were much smaller than the adult cups, and she charged me adult prices. If the customer service was better, I would have let the money go, but there were a lot of deceitful charges. My impression is that lil Bits Café is sly, and they knowingly charge their patrons more than they should. Check your receipt. Luckily, I took a picture of my itemized receipt, because after I paid, they kept the itemized receipt. Side note, bathrooms were dirty and our table was sticky. read more

We like to find locally owned diner style restaurants for breakfast when we travel. During our 5 days in Pismo Beach we had breakfast at Lil'Bit 5 times. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable. The food was huge and very flavorful. Both the coffee and our breakfasts came piping hot. Their salsa is home made and really highlighted our meals. If you leave there hungry it is your own fault - they offer seconds on their potatoes which are grilled to perfection. We look forward to eating at Lil'Bit next year when we are back in the area. read more

Even though our table had four chairs, we were very cramped next to each other (no space between side-by-side chairs). The serving sizes were nice, and the food tasted okay. The omelets and potatoes were oily and greasier than three of us prefer. We did have trouble getting refills on our beverages since our server sat down with a man while he ate, ignoring all of her tables of customers. One person in our group did have iced tea and mentioned that it tasted "weird." There must have actually been something wrong with it since that same person, and no one else in our group, was sick in the bathroom for much of the remainder of the day. The food is good and it is definitely a cute local spot, but you may wish to stay clear of the iced tea. read more

My husband is not a breakfast person so he ordered a blue cheese burger and he said that was 4.5 stars. He will be coming back for that someday soon. The ambiance of the restaurant makes the customers stand out in the sun while tables are open and available When asked about the open tables after over 20 minutes of waiting it was explained that we couldn't be seated because the kitchen was backed up. Food is probably mediocre since everyone who works there seemed miserable and offended when we asked to be seated at the open tables. Upon further questioning the staff would audibly sigh as if they didn't even want to be working there. The host was wearing a shirt that said "misery club" on the back of it. Only reason I gave this place four stars was because of the dining and seating. Not ideal and could use an upgrade. Food is five star quality!!! They have a pretty expansive breakfast and lunch menu. Something for everybody. Their food is FRESH and flavorful. Biscuits and gravy were delish, eggs cooked perfectly, ham was AMAZING and probably the most tender ham I have ever had. French toast was also delish. I can go on and on. This establishment is a hole in the wall and blink and you just may miss it. Favorite with locals and I can see why. Best Chicken Fried Steak I've had! Always been a sucker for breakfast/brunch type of food so I'm so happy that we found this spot a little further south from Pismo. They have a moderate sized parking lot and plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas to enjoy your food under the sun. We wanted to order to-go so I didn't get to see the inside. There was a long line for people waiting to get tables which surprisingly was a pretty short wait for them. It took even longer (about 10-15mins) to be able to get a waitress so that we can order to-go. To be honest, I was starting to get frustrated because it took so long just to order to-go but once the waitress was available, she was very nice and friendly so in the end it was ok. Once we ordered the food took 15 mins to be ready which was great! Super pleased with the service in the end because the waitress that helped us was very sweet and friendly. I ordered - Chicken Fried Steak with scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and homemade biscuit- soooo freaking good! I didn't expect too much but mannn that was the best chicken fried steak I've ever had! I usually don't finish the hashbrowns but even their hashbrowns were DELICIOUS! I killed my entire order!! My fiancé got the Blue Burger which he said he enjoyed. We took our food to the dunes so by the time we found a spot to eat at the dunes, the bottom of his burger was already soggy but he swears it would've been bomb if he ate it fresh from the griddle! Still killed it though! We also shared a French toast - this one we ate on the road on our way back to SF. It was pretty tasty and would've been better if I ate it sooner. It came with a strawberry jam which seems homemade and was a good compliment to it. Overall, reeallly love this place. I wish it was closer to home. I can't wait to come back! I don't like breakfast potatoes. I eat one or two, but that's usually it. These potatoes are so good, I could eat a plate of them. The nice thing is, they give you refills if you really want more. I found the portion ample. I had chicken fried steak and gravy with biscuits for the rest of my meal. It was delicious. Gravy like I make it, thick and creamy, lots of sausage, and very flavorful. My husband got a breakfast with french toast that has a vanilla/cinnamon flavor to it. There was chicken fried steak and bacon died up in the omelet, where it was then smothered in their bacon/sausage gravy and cheddar cheese. The combination of flavors was amazing!! It came with a biscuit that was buttered and toasted. Their salsa was spicy hot, but so good. You could taste the roasted peppers and I put it on the country potatoes, which were red potatoes, onions, and red peppers. And they were "all you can eat." My wife got the famous biscuits and gravy. It was a big helping with two biscuits split into four sections smothered in the bacon/sasuage gravy. This place is my favorite breakfast spot in the Central Coast area. So we got a place in Oceano and after dropping off the uhaul we went to this sweet lil diner for breakfast! It was really good food! They had a iron skillet rib eye on special, but I got the bacon omelette and hash browns and toast. Went here for breakfast as we had been there in the past and it was great. Today not so much. We arrived and waited to be seated and asked for an outdoor table in the sun, and we were sent to a table in a dark alcove that was in a back corner (looked like it was once storage space or something.) we asked for a different table in the sun and had to wait 30 minutes for a table to be cleared. once seated, we waited at our table for another 20 minutes before we were given menus by the host, who seemed like he didn't want to be there (didnt smile, was mumbling the whole time, very abruptly took things off our table without eye contact) we ordered and got our food. mine was good, but my partners food was not. the potatoes tasted off, almost fishy, and he took one bite and spat it out because it was disgusting. my partner spoke to the host and asked to send it back and take it off the bill as it did not taste good and he couldn't eat it. a minute later, a woman came out and informed us that there was nothing wrong with the food and she would not remove the item off of the bill, but we could order something else instead. my partner did not want to order anything else, and was told he "had to pay for it as they weren't giving out free food" (food we had sent back and had only taken a single bite out of) after a back and forth conversation, the waitress went back inside and left my partner with no food, no menu, and a bill with my food and the food he sent back on it. my partner went inside and told them he was not paying for food he did not eat and was told he was "a horrible person, the worst they met" and that he was not welcome back. he was also refused a receipt for the items we did pay for (my food and our coffees). I understand having bad days and that things happen, but this is horrible customer service and a horrible experience. read more
