Was in town for the weekend and tried village cafe today. The service was really good. My coffee never got cold. This is a local spot. The waitresses know a lot of the customers that come through the front door. I like that kind of vibe. The breakfast was really good. Wife ordered traditional sausage and eggs and i got eggs and corn beef hash. We will def stop again when in the area. Thanks for the attentiveness service. read more

I really enjoyed my Potato Scramble today! Our waitress understood my concerns and the dish was cooked to perfection. Mushrooms, green onion, yellow onion, green bell pepper, and potatoes. Crunchy not burned, cheddar cheese melted. Yum!! Good times with good friends. Room for large parties or space to cozy up to the counter. And a great price for a filling meal. read more

While out for a walk in Arroyo Grande Village my husband and I decided to stop in the Village Cafe for breakfast- It's a nice small cafe and the server made us feel instantly welcomed seating us right away- I ordered the short stack with a side of hash browns- My husband ordered the waffles with sausage and eggs and a side of biscuits and gravy- I was pleasantly surprised when our food arrived! My short stack was huge! I instantly could smell the heavenly aroma of vanilla and they were delicious! My hash browns were cooked exactly like I prefer which is crispy, golden and tasty- My husband loved every bit of his breakfast especially the biscuits and gravy, which I happily kept dipping my hash browns in! This spot seem to have been hard hit by COVID and they are trifling to keep their doors open. It is a true greasy spoon with the kitschy decor, warm and attentive waitresses, a talented short order cook, and plenty of locals. My food was tasty, warm, and there was plenty of it. The location is convenient to parking and right on the main drag. read more

Placed an order for pickup and was running 10mins late to pick it up. When I arrived, everyone seated and working seemed to be white and they all looked at me. Normally I have no issues. But when I got to counter/bar area it started to make sense. I asked a young lady about my order and she didn't know and proceeded to ask another lady who then informed me that "ya your order has been here forever (tapping the order box with her pen)" " i dont know why your kind comes in here" "have a great day" (arroyo grande location) Order was missing items but i figured wasn't worth going back in there with that lady. The food was good for what I actually did get, but i would not recommend this business unfortunately. read more

Solid spot for country style meals. We had breakfast-Linguica omelette was amazing-sausage village breakfast-Denver omelette-3 kids breakfasts. Kids breakfasts are a little small but adult portions are great. Biscuits are super soft. It's small so the kitchen did smoke up the dining area but the staff realized and opened the doors and it aired out quick. read more

Small town place with big city prices. We had the breakfast #1, the bacon being too salty. We also had Chile Verde and village veggi omelette which were excellent. The toast were just ok with loads of butter slathered on them. Lastly we had the waffle which was ok and they came with corn syrup. The credit card machine was down, so we had pay with cash. I have been going to the Village café since the 70s always loved the Spanish omelette. I have had the eggs Benedict many times over the years but the last few times I have not like that at all she said it's spicy but that's not it there's something else it was practically an edible I never ordering it again read more

Took us a little longer than I thought to get seated, but when we were, our experience was amazing! The two servers worked their tails off, made sure my coffee cup was full, got my meal out to us within 10-15 min. after putting in our order which was about another 5-8 min of waiting. Yeah, service could have been faster, I think they could have used one more person while we were there as they were packed with a wait line of 6-7 ppl most of the time. The food was awesome. I had the sausage links breakfast with biscuit and gravy, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast--delicious! I was one happy camper. Waiting patiently reaps the greatest rewards. Village Cafe has old-style charm; we felt right at home. Seating was comfortable and the service was personal and caring. Our breakfast could not have been better. Delicious veggie omelette, with sliced tomatoes added as an extra without our even asking. We were so happy to find Village Cafe and will definitely be back next time we find ourselves in the Arroyo Grande area. read more

Not saying this to hurt your business, just giving an honest review that could maybe help. The last two times we have been there we were treated poorly. No smile or friendliness, and we waited over 20 minutes to be served and then watched as you treated "regulars" you knew by name so special and fast. Just seems like maybe if you treated everyone the same way more people would come back. I keep seeing people on Facebook saying to support your business but you don't seem to treat new people the same way as the people that come eat there daily. We will come back because I really hope your business makes it through this. It has been a special part of the village for so long. Just think that now with the prices of everything going up it's hard to justify spending money on eating out at a place that makes you feel like they don't really care you're there. read more

Covid 19 alert! Do not enter the cafe because they are serving in a closed indoor environment to people not wearing masks. The servers wear a face shield only without a mask. They have a few outside tables. When we remarked to the face shield only waitress about the mask issue inside, she pointed to a sign on the door posted at door handle level that she said was issued by the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce. She said that it said that if we entered the cafe, then we were engaging in a peaceful protest against the mask wearing requirement. The food was excellent, but the Covid danger potential is high. read more

I love this place! If you want a good old fashion breakfast without paying an arm and a leg for it, go here! They always look busy and slammed, but the wait is never that long and they cook and serve the food fast so you won't be hungry very long. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Please check them out. read more

This is my go to breakfast destination. Big portions, reliable quality, egg white options for omelets, and they always get the bacon exactly the way I like it! Plates are big enough for me to share my breakfast with a friend and still walk out stuffed and ready for a stroll around the old village. read more

Cowboy Burrito covered in gravy. This is what breakfast burritos are supposed to be. I would eat here if I were you and decide for yourself.

Prices were very reasonable, service was friendly and attentive, and the location was convenient with easy parking. The hollandaise sauce is very salty as well and to much on top. They are not flexible or accommodating to a customer's requests. They also charge a 3% fee for using a credit card. No thanks. (That's one way to lose business.) The lights are very low and strange. You have to adjust your eyes. Way too dark in there. Parking is not easy. We won't be back.

He would have liked Peter jack cheese or at least a choice. The salsa was also very good, I put on my omelette. Remember a lot of places charge extra if you use a credit card. I did and it was an extra 4%. It's tough, breakfast used to be for two around $25 and now it's more like $50. I will keep it on the list of places we like to go.
