Lilly is friendly, funny and her husband in the back seems gruff at first, but is a very kind man. This place is great. I had an Italian Beef and Gyro and both were good. I was actually on my way to Arby's when I noticed a sign in the window that said ITALIAN BEEF, which is one of my favorite things, just barely beating out a good gyro. The thing about gyros is that in most places the meat is the same, coming from one of the big meat companies that specializes in the product. Lilly's is a great place to get your Gyros. The food has always been fresh and had great flavor. You get a ton of food here and would probably give 5 stars if they just gave you and extra pita for free because the amount of meat they give you with the platter there is no way that its all fitting in the pitas they give you. The sauce always seems to be fresh and out of the 8 or so times that I have went there the food has always been great. I know when I get the hunch for gyros this is the place that I go. read more

Truly the BEST Gyro & Hummus Ive had in the area! and I never would have known if it wasnt for Yelp! (Thanks!) It is in an old Taco bell or something but they owners are right in there cooking and ringing up your orders... The meat was absolutely perfect! Juicy and Delicious! The Hummus is homemade and DOES require a little extra salt and pepper the lemon juice made it nice too especially on a hot summer day.. But I imagine its a little bland so that people can kind of decide for themselves what to do with it...I would add a little spice to it to giveit a kick.. but anyway.. I come here religiously. Lilly does exist, she's almost always there with her husband and they make the best gyros in STL. I was looking forward to trying the gyros here but I'll just have to give it an OK. They only come with tomato, onion and tzatziki on them, it would be nice to be able to add feta or lettuce or olives. The tzatziki sauce tasted like ranch dressing to me, a little mayonnaisey instead of cucumber-Garlic yogurt. If you eat here, I would encourage you to eat in and get a sense for how much care that "Lilly" herself has for her customers. The place was busy so I figured we were in for a real treat. Especially after reading all the Yelp reviews. I ordered a chicken gyro my mother the same. Hubby ordered lamb. We also ordered hummus which I love love love. The gyros were HUGE brimming with meat but swimming in sauce. No feta cheese not even a drop. However, it wa tasty not omg tasty but tasty just the same. The hummus was flavorless but a hearty position. The service was good. The lady behind the counter (I am assuming the owner) was very pleasant. She didn't smile but was polite just the same. They had forgotten my baklava and when I called to tell her this (we didn't eat it there) she apologized and said bring in your receipt and I will give you one. All in all I would say it was okay. For some reason I only think of Lilly's once in a while. I think I've only had it three times since it opened, but I must say I have not been disappointed. I just ate there last week and I got the original Gyro and my mom got the philly cheese steak without the onion. We were very pleased with the gyros. They were so full we couldn't close them to eat them. I know we got our money's worth. We also got the funnel cake to share. It was just enough for dessert. One word... GROSS! A huge heap of greasy mystery meat with no seasoning. My husband got the "delux" and it was so bad he couldn't eat it. I got the only vegetarian option and it was a dry piece of bread with some iceburg letruce and a few falafel balls. I got extra sauce, which costs extra, and it didn't add much flavor. Service was as bad as the food. I've had takeout from here before with equally disappointing results. Save your money...and don't believe the hype! read more

So good we came back to try the hummus and to see if they were consistent. We also got the large ones to polish off later for dinner. The hummus was definitely homemade but a bit on the bland side. It benefitted from some salt and pepper and lemon juice but I was so full I took it home and added some more spices and it was better but I like a spicy hummus. I love Lilly Gyros. I was traveling through the area and looking for a good gyros when I came across this place on Yelp. Thought I would give it a try and was not disappointed. The gyros was loaded with meat and fresh onion and tomato. It comes with fries which were some of the best I've ever had. Hot and crunchy but tender on the inside. I've been trying to make it over to this place for a few weeks now. I finally did and I sure was not disappointed!!! I loved my gyro and I also ordered the dulma (stuffed grape leaves) and they were yummy too. I went there around 1130 and it wasn't too busy yet but the lunch crowd started rolling in and you don't want to be a part if that if at all possible. I only say this because it seemed like they were kind of slow to make two gyros and fries and it wasn't that crowded yet. My only wish is that they stayed open later than 8. There's been a few times I would have liked to.have had a gyro late night :-) I can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu. read more

Came for lunch with my husband and daughter a few months back. The place itself leaves a lot to be desired, an old building and not the most attractive inside and not a huge amount of seating. It was recommended to us for a place to get a good gyro so we came. Well, my husband and daughter both ordered the gyro with a side of fries. They said they were very tasty. Good amount of meat, seasoned well and they were happy. I ended up ordering the stuffed cabbage. I was so surprised since I grew up eating cabbage rolls as a kid with a Ukrainian background. I got 2 on the plate and they were super big. Definitely enough to fill me up. They were full of meat and slathered in a delicious tomato sauce. Very good. They do not offer a miltary discount. The lady at the til said the prices were rock bottom as her reason. I agree, the prices were definitely fair. We will be back I'm sure when we are craving Greek food. read more

I was surprised to see that I had not previously exalted the pleasures of a gyros from Lillys. Hands down the best gyro in the StL area. It's a mom and pop establishment that treats every customer as if they have known them for ever. The meat is cut from the spit when ordered. None of this presliced in a warming pan at Lillys! The quantity is way more than reasonable. I normally have leftover meat to put on a salad the following day. The quality is also phenomenal.
