This past week was my first time visiting Lilly's. My first visit on Monday was somewhat accidental-I had planned on visiting their sister restaurant next door ,but they happened to be closed, and had a sign up, "try our sister restaurant Lilly's next door!" So I looked at the menu, saw they had a sliced steak sandwich that sounded similar to the one from the place that was closed, so I gave it a shot. The steak sandwich with fries was tasty, had a decent portion of meat, not very large, but large enough that most people will find it a filling meal. I was happy enough having this for lunch that I knew I should sample some of their other choices later in the week. Friday turned out to be a perfect day for it, so I deliberately had a very light breakfast in order to have a good appetite for lunch. On my Friday return, I tried their grilled chicken sandwich, and as an appetizer (called 'small plates' here) I ordered their mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was tasty, topped with bread crumbs, with plenty of cheese sauce (there was still some left in the bowl when I finished it),and would be a nice app for one hungry person or two people sharing an app. The chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries was also good, though a bit disappointing. In theory, it was a grilled chicken club with bacon, but despite the bacon being visibly IN the sandwich, there was virtually no bacon flavor in the sandwich. Also, as I ate the chicken sandwich, the relatively thin piece of chicken felt less generous than the steak sandwich. I had flashbacks to episodes of Restaurant Impossible I'd watched over the years, where on so many occasions Chef Robert emphasized the importance of watching the food cost and carefully controlling portion size. Thinking about the steak sandwich and chicken sandwiches, I was able to roughly estimate the food cost of each plate. When the meal you're eating brings thoughts of the food cost front and center, the meal hasn't impressed enough. Service was also good overall, but had some deficiencies. On Friday, they brought the receipt, and I gave the server the receipt and cash to pay it. They took the receipt and cash, and rang it up, and...then I waited. They didn't bring back the change was obviously leaving as a tp, and didn't return the receipt. At least, not until got ready to leave, and was obviously ready to go, and sat there until the server asked if I needed anything else, at which point, I indicated the receipt, and was given the receipt. Thankfully, I was having an easy going day, so time wasn't an issue. read more

Finally!! Amazing food found in downtown white plains. A perfect date night location. Such an attentive staff and waiters. They were handing out sampler shots of vodka as well. We got gnocchi and brussel sprouts to start. Generous portion sizes, amazing flavors. For mains we got a chicken dish, it was the full size roasted breast and leg. The flavors didn't hit well with us, it may have been we weren't expecting that style chicken. Our waiter graciously took it off of our tab. We additionally got the pasta carb, omg so rich. So good. So I first went here one evening about a month ago, and it was such a great experience and the atmosphere, the food, the ambience was everything. But after my last experience I'm wondering if it was the drinks I had order. This place is cool and convenient. Well priced items, foot is above avg just didn't taste the same as my first experience. Maybe I'm just being picky, but it's def worth checking out if you want a mellow evening with some good drinks and decent food. I had the small hanger steak, medium, it came out really chewy this time making me question if it was fresh. The pappas bravas were good. The Brussel sprouts were everything I love this place for them. I ordered two plates with extra dressing. And the house sangria tasted a little watered down, but that tends to be expected with typical sangria. Overall three stars for my recent experience would love for it to be 5 stars I actually do like this place. Just some tweaks to the way things are made. Customer service is great. Lilly's has some vegan options or can-be-made vegan options that are pretty good like their salad pizza without the cheese or their apps, but for lunch and brunch time only, you can get this chicken sandwich made with fried MUSHROOMS I went to catch up with a few close friends today, and we were all perfect with Lilly's for this awesome outdoor dining area as well as the great options for food for all I also got some hummus for the table which was VERY good! The drink I got was the Lily May which is a raspberry cocktail The sandwich though... AWESOME The mushroom was nice and crispy and flavored, and it came with avocado , cole slaw, and BBQ sauce which also made it, however pretty messy sandwich so be prepared to either remove the bread and use a fork like I wound-up having to do The side salad was also very fresh and tasty I'm glad an option like this exists in a Westchester restaurant as you don't see things like that around here too often, and Lilly's is a great restaurant so I'm very happy they offer this option read more

Lilly's has been sitting in my bookmarks for a while; its upscale yet relaxed atmosphere and tasty looking menu initially attracted me to this restaurant. However, I never had the chance to try it until last night; I wanted to get a few friends and colleagues together to celebrate my birthday and Lilly's seemed like an ideal fit. Lilly's sits on Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains - right along side a number of other restaurants and bars that makes up the city's downtown. While it blends into its surroundings by offering a lively bar scene and a nice back patio, it also stands out by offering a creative menu. Walking in on a Friday night the place was pretty loud and crowded. The restaurant is long and narrow with a few tables towards the front and more in the back. A huge bar in the middle of the space creates a focal point, and there is also a decent sized patio for what I assume is for private parties or outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The decor was very stylish; the color scheme is mostly dark woods played off by nicely shaded reds in the booths. There are a number of different types of dishes on the menu, but the main stars are their small plates and pizzas. There were four of us, so we decided to share four small plates and two pizzas. For the plates, we decided on the meatballs, gnocchi, fried chicken, and scallops. I'm not a fan of scallops so I did not try those, but the others were very good. The marinara sauce they used with the meatballs was very tasty, and the chicken had nice flavor and was super crispy (albeit a bit dry). I did however like how they served the chicken; they gave us one leg and then a breast cut into strips - a nice creative touch. The gnocchi was my favorite small plate - it was served in a cream-based sauce with apples. They were super light - very puffy, almost like pillows. Gnocchi is tricky because many times they can be heavy and gloppy so I was pleasantly surprised. For the pizzas we went with the goat cheese and the bee sting. The goat cheese had said cheese, as well as pistachios, mozzarella, and cranberries. I'm a sucker for goat cheese, and the combination of flavors was a total winner for me. The bee sting had red sauce as a base with soppressata, chile oil, honey, mozzarella, oregano, and parmesan. This was also very good, I didn't really feel any heat but the flavors worked overall. The pizzas weren't super large but getting two was the perfect portion for the four of us. They also had that brick oven quality to them which I liked. Since it was a special occasion we decided to get dessert. I chose the sweet potato cake which came with a scoop of pistachio gelato. The dessert was very good; it wasn't too sweet and the gelato complimented the cake well. Service was on point, they were really on top of it and everything came out in a timely manner. My first impression of Lilly's was not good. My gf and I decided to head to the bar since it was packed and grab a few small plates and heard howling which came from 4 male waiters at the end of the bar. First of all, classless. Second, this place was filled with people, how do all 4 waitstaff have time to stand around? Besides that, drinks were good, the interior was stylish with some red victorian lounge booths, dark furnitures and chandeliers to give it an elegant finish but was hard to see because it was very dark. And the menu didn't quite go with the setting either; Italian, Spanish or traditional American, pick one and really focus on the cuisines. Grilled Shrimp- Not sure what direction it was going with this in terms of flavor. We could barely taste the chimichurri, the shrimp was only seasoned with salt & pepper, couscous salad wasn't edible, and it was overwhelmed with olives. Gnocchi- This was a solid dish in terms of combination with the creamy sage sauce, shiitake mushroom and fresh green apples. Fried Chicken- The crispy exterior was over-cooked so they were harden but the meat held the juices which was nice and tender. The raspberry red wine glaze was surprisingly fantastic. Overall Service: It was very disorganized. Everyone was all over the place at the bar, the girls were not attentive or friendly, and it really just felt like we were served by Applebee's employees. Came here for brunch on Memorial Day. The service was good, pretty good beer selection and drink menu. The food was ok. I had the grilled octopus with chickpea purée (humus) which was tasty. And also ordered the short ribs in polenta which was not good... very under seasoned, and had little to no flavor at all. I went for brunch here recently and had a mixed experience. The hostess was rather rude during the seating process, which started things poorly. The good notes were that the food and rest of the meal were fine...I had a tasty specialty french toast dish and my friend had a burger, which she said was quite good. But the real reason for this review is that 2 days after visiting and using my credit card to pay for the meals, I had two unauthorized/fraudulent charges on my card. I can't say for certain that the security breach occurred at this establishment, but it is a strong suspicion. This was the only new place I had used this card at in a very long time, and I never had any other issue up to that point. I called the restaurant to speak with a manager to report this and was told someone would call me back the next day. Nobody ever did. Again, I'm far from certain about this, but I would recommend you check your CC statement carefully if you use credit to pay for your meals at Lilly's. read more

This place is great! First time coming here and came with family to catch up. The menu had so many options and it was extra good because there were gluten free options for almost everything we got. You couldn't tell the difference even with the pizza that they were GF. The drinks were amazing highly recommend the bikini bottom on their drink specials. They make a pretty good strong espresso martini too. All of the food were "small" plates options but they do have main dinners if you choose. We did a bunch of small plates and shared between 6 of us and it was plenty! The service was great very attentive always coming with water and refills. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is only because of the atmosphere. It was so hot inside to the point where you were sticking to the chair and would be so happy to have someone open the door to get some cold air relief. It also was incredibly loud you couldn't conversate well where we were because it was so crowded and loud but overall none of these are deal breakers to this restaurant. I wasn't overwhelmed by the dinner I ate here, but I'm not usually a big fan of small tapas-style plates for dinner. So I'm giving Lilly's the benefit of the doubt because the food I did have was good quality. I don't personally feel that the presentation of the food is on par with the price, but the flavors were innovative enough that I'd return to snack sometime! The ricotta croquettes were the star for me - a little bready, lightly sweet. I enjoyed the feta dip as well, and tried the cauliflower and papas bravas sides. Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism delivered by this establishment. I made a reservation weeks in advance to celebrate mine and my boyfriend's birthdays. I was instructed I had to speak with the manager, because he's the only one who handles large parties. Fine, I was able to speak with him and arrange the party. I called the week prior three times to discuss the reservation and was told each time I had to "try again tomorrow because the manager wasn't in." Today, less than 24 hours before my reservation, the hostess, not the manager, calls to cancel my party because "due to the rain tomorrow, they no longer have room for my party." Now I'm left in a tight spot, extremely disappointed, with no where to go. Never spoke to the manager, who I was told was the "only one who can handle large reservations." I was very insensitively canceled on less than 24 hours in advance. When making the reservation weeks prior I asked if it was nice out to be seated outside, which left me to believe if it was raining out, I'd be sat inside. If the establishment couldn't accommodate a large reservation inside, one shouldn't have been allowed to be made so far in advance. The manager should have planned this better, or at the very least been the one to contact me. I used to come here frequently, making me want to celebrate my birthday here. But unfortunately, this interaction has deterred me from returning to Lilly's. Will no longer be dining here again. read more

The outdoors is cute and spacious, we usually have the same server who is friendly and helpful. We made a reservation on Open Table for brunch. They did have a table available, but it was a small 2 person table directly next to the bar area where music (employee music, not meant for the restaurant) was playing lightly but just loud enough to be annoying, and they were clanking dishes. We did ask to be reseated, and the new table was fine. We ordered the traditional breakfast. The bacon was basically raw - clear and stretchy like right out of the package. I sent it back asking for it to be cooked more. When I got it, it was better. The scrambled eggs were delicious, and the potatoes were perfect. The toast was more like a crouton. No jam, only butter. The other person with me got the chicken and waffles. The chicken outside flavor was great, but the chicken itself was inedible, or at the very least, unpalatable. It was 90% cartilage and fat. It was left virtually untouched, and no one even asked why. In fact, no one ever came back to check on us at all. The waffles were fine but a bit soggy. I had ordered coffee, and even after trying to flag people down I couldn't get a refill. As I said before, once the food was on the table service was non existent. With prices as they are and cups as small as they are (yes, small cups are cute and pretty), I was expecting to enjoy a second cup. read more

Our waiter was very average, forgetting main items, rarely returning unless we flagged him down. We chose to start with a half dozen oysters- which we sent back. I have never ever had to do that. These had no brine, were mushy like they were open in the fridge all day, and old. We both were concerned a looking at them, ate one and almost threw up. The drinks are well made and you have a choice to eat outside in the back away from the street which is very nice , or a comfortable dark bar which I prefer. After an enlightening holistic medicine appointment up north, I stopped by hubby's job to pick him up for happy hour. As I waited for him, I scoped out some spots in the area and thought of Lilly's. I've been meaning to revisit and see if I would have a better experience because I knew they had the potential to put a smile on my face. We parked in the rear lot and headed straight to the bar. We scored two of the last four seats and slid over to make room for another couple; an older couple who was very personable and funny. So far, my second experience here started looking up. Our bartender (I hate that I forgot her name and forgot to ask for it before we left) was the best! She was so friendly and accommodating so, hopefully she gets props for her hospitality (we visited today 4/11/17). To start off, I broke down and ordered some of their Blue Points ($1 each) and some of their regular priced West Coast Kumamotos. I said I wouldn't eat oysters again (and haven't in almost a YEAR!) but I couldn't resist and I'm happy I ordered them. They were fresh; the Kumas were on the small side but they were good. I like them plump and creamy so you may want to stay away from the ones at Lilly's as they were a bit malnourished and emaciated. Hubby had the Bee Sting Pizza which was prepared with Soppresata, Honey and Chili Oil. He loved it but didn't care for the char. I thought it looked wonderful but did not part take in sampling the pork. I had the Scallops w/Spaëtzle which was sooooo good. First off, the scallops were prepared beautifully; one of my scallops was obviously broken during the cook and if I were them, considering the price they charge, I would have replaced it with a whole scallop on the fly but, that's just me. The dish still tasted great. The creaminess of the spaëtzle made me stop and savour. It was that good. I was still a bit hungry so I ordered the Short Ribs w/Polenta and I was all the more happy that I did. It was, again, so very good and it was a great end to a wonderfully chill and unpretentious meal. This was a complete 180° difference from our initial visit to Lilly's. I am so happy that we gave them another chance as I had always intended. There are still some things they definitely need to work on, as it goes with the consistency and comparison of their dishes. For instance, the miniscule Kumamotos being served despite us paying the full price of $3.50/pp when I've had full, plump Kumas in the past at other establishments. The Scallops were so good but that one little piece of a scallop that I was served for a $14 small plate, one would hope to receive four whole scallops and not 3 1/2 with the half being hidden by a piece of charred, yet delicious broccoli. Aside from those two drawbacks, everything else was great and our social experience was so much better than when we were served by that super aggro waiter with the chip on his shoulder our first time around. Special shoutout to the couple that sat by us, back from a recent trip to Barcelona. We will definitely look into our upcoming trip to Spain and thank you for the traveling tips. Unimpressed... not sure what I expected but waiting 45 minutes for two dishes (first time round they managed to get it wrong (no fault of the waiter) and it just seemed that Sunday brunch overwhelms the entire staff. This is a large establishment with many covers and we were merely cannon fodder at 2:30pm I ordered the pasta scramble thingy and it wasn't bad but when I asked for fresh pepper the Waite returned with a little glass fiber cruet from Chinatown with old regular processed pepper. I asked him (incredulously) "you don't have fresh pepper?" He said - nope! Don't think I'll come again. Too impersonal and bland - nice bar and banquettes though! read more

Lily's is a wonderful brunch spot. I went with some friends who live in the city and wanted to enjoy some indoor dining during the pandemic. I invited them to join me in Westchester and enjoy warm, indoor but social distanced dining before the snow storm the next day and they obliged. They all agreed it was well worth the drive. I had the morning pizza which was phenomenal with its touch of truffle flavoring and poached egg. I was a bit skeptical of potatoes on pizza, but they didn't overdo it and it added enough hardiness that I couldn't finish the pizza by myself. Other delights that the table enjoyed were the chicken and waffles, lobster lettuce rolls, Mac and cheese and a mind blowing breakfast pasta. Not once did the waiter come to our table to ask if we needed anything else. 20 minutes after we were finished, I literally had to find a waiter to bring us the bill.
