My bf and I made a reservation the morning of, and we were seated right away on a Friday night even though it was absolutely packed. Our server was super nice and gave me recommendations since it was our first time dining here. There's abundant outdoor seating, but we opted to sit inside since that was the only table available. Since the food is family style and we weren't super hungry, we got two drinks, an appetizer, and a dish to share. + Chicken Empanadas: Nothing special to be honest, crispy on the outside, hot, but the chicken was super dry. The saving grace was the Aji Amarillo sauce, which was to die for. I've never tried it before, but wow, the heat and flavor really complemented the empanada and also the lomo saltado (especially the shrimp). It's creamy and spicy (but not too spicy), just overall added so much flavor to the dishes. $12 comes with Aji Amarillo sauce + Lomo Saltado: This is a massive portion and definitely a portion for two to share, easily. The tenderloin beef pieces ranged from way too well done to well done to medium, so it wasn't cooked consistently across the board, unfortunately. It was also a tad bland, but hey, dip it in the Aji Amarillo sauce and it's delicious. It also comes with rice, red onions, red peppers, and the shrimp I added, all in a ginger-soy sauce base. $29 + $6 for the shrimp + Lycheemelon: Delicious if you like lychee flavored things (which I do) and fruity alcoholic drinks. Not too alcoholic/sweet, AND it didn't leave me with a headache (which often happens when I drink a sweet/fruity alcoholic drink. Would definitely get this drink again, super good, strong lychee flavor. This is made with their housemade pisco! $15 + non alcoholic mango lemonade: average, as expected, good non-alcoholic choice, not terribly sweet. $6 3.5/5 rounded up for that Aji Amarillo sauce, service, and good drinks. I will definitely be back to try other items! You got to get the Aji Amarillo sauce on the side if you don't accidentally order something that comes with it already (like me). And definitely make a reservation. Parking seems to be tough on the street, we parked at the mall and walked over (0.3 mile walk approximately). read more

We went to one of my daughter's favorite restaurants for her birthday! Apparently, this must be a special place for bdays bc like 4 other people also had the staff sing Happy Birthday to them! It made it more festive and we clapped and sang along to the other birthdays too! It was easy to find parking with a few lots nearby and packed street parking. It was busy on a Sunday night- completely full even the patio seating and they had an upper level. It felt comfortable, bustling, loud and fun with beautiful fire heaters. The staff were friendly and great! Of course, it is always the food though. Now, I always check my trusty Yelp before I go to see what others rave about and what photos look good- yes, I can tell just from the pictures usually. Only thing was all the dishes I wanted, were no longer on the menu! Bummer! They changed their menu two months ago and I will post the most up to date menu. So no pork chop, no whole mushroom or green bean side dish. Darn, I really wanted to try some of those! We started out with chicken empanadas. The vegetable empanadas was also different than the past one- it is mushrooms, truffle oil and cheese. We stuck with the chicken one. I would give that 3.5. Yucca fries- kind of plain but I do like wedges thick fries and I liked it better than potato ones. But still no taste even though it came with a yellow sauce. So 2.5. Truffle macaroni- it was ok- really just tasted like Mac and cheese. Nothing special. 3 stars at best. Cauliflower fried and battered with a slight sweet sauce. It was very good- I love cauliflower but didn't think it would taste that good! I kept taking pieces and munching happily- addictive! 4 stars! Well, by the time we ate the appetizers, I was stuffed already and my steak hadn't come yet!!! I had the flat iron steak with chimchurri. It smelled burnt, but looked ok. It was bland by itself and the Cabernet glazed sauce was good especially with mushrooms. Yukon potatoes were fine. So 3.5. I realized the mushrooms were the vegetables- no asparagus as seen in photos or zucchini. Another daughter had this as well-she stated this is how steak should be! I preferred to have more chimichurri-for some reason I was not tasting much of the flavor of that. My daughter had arroz con pollo( chicken and rice). She really loves this dish- her favorite. I didn't try it but she stated 4. Tres Leche cake was good and very moist/milky with a raspberry dip on one side and peanut butter/chocolate on the other. Loved this-4.5 stars. So total for all rounded up to 3.6 for the food and with the staff and ambiance I will round the whole experience to be a 4. Definitely will be back to try the actual Peruvian chicken. TIP: I did not realize you still had to pay for parking on Sundays even and it is til 8 pm. So just be aware of that and the meter maid was working up and down the street at 5:30 pm. read more

We came to Limón for lunch with our dog. We chose this restaurant because of their outdoor seating. We were able to sit right away and served quickly as well. The food came out quickly. The half chicken is my go-to on the menu since they are known for their rotisserie chicken. It's always cooked well, and today was no different. I ordered rice and vegetables as my sides. You make it enjoyable to drink at the bar! Limon is a great place to come if you are visiting Walnut Creek. We had the chanchito a la diabla and the explosion of flavors at every bit was nothing to be taken slightly. The appetizer is full of flavor, tender and crispy meat at the same time. But seat at the bar and your night is set for success. Limon has the star bartender Giselle, she makes outstanding drinks and is careful about her measurements and the decorations. An instant new favorite. I loved everything we ordered and our waitress was attentive and answered our questions well. It was fairly busy on a Wednesday, but it wasn't a problem at all. Super comfortable atmosphere. We started with the ceviche mixto along with some of their taro chips. The seafood was refreshing and high quality and the corn added just the right amount of texture. I enjoyed the Diabolito Jr drink which is fairly new on the menu and I didn't want it to end. Our main was the Lomo Saltado, which is recommended if you're new to Peruvian food. I might be the odd one out but my experience left a lot to be desired. My SO and I had an early dinner resy for 2 so the restaurant was only 25% filled. We immediately requested a larger table but the hostess said she had to ask her a manager and it would take a couple minutes... We never heard back about it. I understand we're only 2 people but we do like to order a selection of items to share. After we ordered four dishes and they came out, the entire table was full of plates and we were completely cramped and fearful of knocking anything over. We asked again to add on another 2 person table so we could have more space. Our waiter was nice and asked the manager who stood there and death stared me for a whole minute while she argued with the waiter about why we shouldn't have a secondary or larger table. Eventually she conceded and said ok but I really did not appreciate the tone that was set right at the start of our meal. As a paying customer who is ordering more than what a table allows, you'd think they'd be more accommodating of our comfortability while dining. All the rest of the wait staff were amazing. Our cups were never half empty as they topped us off every single time they walked past. They were so nice and pleasant and constantly checked on us throughout the meal. Once we began to clear some plates, I consolidated back to our 2 person table and let them know they were welcome to separate the tables again and clear it off for the next guest. Funnily enough, they were in no rush to get the extra table ready, even though they were so unwilling to give it to us in the first place. They waited until our meal was over before they moved the second table back *inserts eye roll here To be fair, the restaurant did fill up as the evening progressed but the management of it could use some work. I seriously watched the manager try to seat 3 people at a two person table. The group of course had issues with that lol It's possible my review would have been higher but the food really did not stand out compared to the experience we had, which was totally disappointing. The one item I would recommend though is the Chanchito a la diabla. The sauce and pork belly were perfection. As much as I liked that item, I'm not likely to ever come back. read more

However the flavor of the food definitely makes up for it. I got a 1/2 dozen of oysters to start. The oysters tasted fresh and I love the spicy onions it came with. But for $20, the oysters were tiny. For my main dish, I got the lomo saltado, which came with a bowl of rice. I wish it came with more onions and tomatoes but was very solid overall. I got a mango lemonade to wash it all down; this drink is more sweet than tart. To finish it off, we got the chocolate cake for dessert. Came here on a weekday afternoon and we were seated immediately. The place is quite dim inside with the only light source coming from the front of the restaurant. For food we ordered the Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado. Our favorite of the two was the Arroz con Mariscos which was full of various seafood like clams, shrimp, fish, mussels. This dish was rich in flavor and is big enough to share with someone else. The lomo saltado was mediocre and salty. We had a really lovely dinner on Friday night! The place was packed, so I recommend you make a reservation! This is an awesome place to go with a small group, because the plates are huge. If it was just 2 of us we wouldn't be able to try many things, but because we were a group of 4 we were able to order 4 assorted items. -The ceviche trio was delicious and fresh - I loved the fish they used! -The sampler was great too (yummy empanadas and fried chicken) -Half chicken: really moist and flavorful -Octopus (pulpo): this was a bit of a letdown - it was quite chewy. Flavor was nice though We also tried a few sours, and I really liked the passionfruit sour. They are a on the sweeter side. I asked for it without the sugar syrup but the waiter recommended I try it with because they try to balance the flavors. But I would get it without the sugar syrup next time.
