I finally got a chance to try Limón after hearing numerous recommendations for it. My friend and I made a reservation for Saturday at 5:45 and got seated by the hostess shortly after. The hostess was kind, energetic and explained some of the menu given it was our first time there. We ordered Lycheemelon cocktails which were refreshing and fruity, perfect for someone who doesn't enjoy the strong taste of alcohol. As my friend and I were catching up, we took a bit to look at the menu and decide what we wanted. We did feel a bit rushed given the waiter checked in about three times asking if we were ready. These check ins were pretty close to one another which would have been appreciated rather than seen as rushed with a bigger time gap. We ordered the Salteado Mar Y Tierra which was so tasty! Although I think they would benefit from asking customers how they'd like their meat cooked since we both felt like our meat was too chewy and a bit burnt. Besides this, the shrimp and sauce included in the dish were super tasty. The steamed rice was fluffy and a perfect pairing to the plate. A day later, and I am still salivating about the thought of this platter! As I was finishing my cocktail and my friend was finishing her drink, we got approached more times by the waiter asking if we needed a to-go box even though my friend was eating still and I was still enjoying my cocktail. Although I understand they may have other customers waiting to be seated, and there is a 90 minute max being pushy about having us leave was not a pleasant experience. This made us more upset when we realized the couple next to us had their food packed up and were enjoying their cocktails for quite some time without being bothered by a waitress, it made us wonder if we were picked on because we are clearly younger folks. Besides this, I would definitely return for the food and drinks. Although it was busy on a weekend (expected), the ambiance was nice with clean interior.
This was an excellent experience. The atmosphere had a vibe to it and there are both indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu has an abundance of options and the cocktails are perfectly crafted for the adventure drinker. The customer experience was enhanced by excellent customer service with our waiter who asked a lot of great questions to guide us through the menu. Additionally, he timed the food to come out at a great pace and the kudos to the kitchen staff as the food had great food presentation when plated. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Walnut Creek area.
I've heard so many great things about Limon so it was about time I tried it out! We went to the Walnut Creek location and it was poppin on a Sunday! Luckily though, we didn't have an issue making a same day reservation. Once we were sat, it did take a bit for our server to get to us, but Wilfredo did great balancing how busy it was. So, we didn't really have an issue with it. He is so great we loved our interactions with him! For food, we ordered the Ceviche Limon, which had a combination of bright and citrusy (a lil spicy) sauce with fresh raw red snapper, squid, and shrimp with fried, crispy calamari tentacles. The combination of textures and flavors was delicious. We did opt in for the taro chips, which was the perfect vessel for the ceviche. We also ordered the Piqueo sampler, which had their chicharron de pollo, beef empanadas, platano frito, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious, though I was not super wowed by the empanadas and the yuca fries were a bit stale. The star of the show was the Fiesta de Carnes, which was their all meat platter with ribeye steak, grilled chicken, and pork belly with roasted potatoes chimichurri and aji amarillo. Ribeye was cooked perfectly, and the grilled chicken was quite literally the juiciest chicken I've had in a while. However, the pork belly was not crisp enough for both me and the amount of fat that the pork belly had. Had it been crispier this dish would have been 10/10. The aji amarillo was so good, not as spicy as other versions I've had before. I think it is worth the $2 they charge for extra. It was simplistic in decor but still fitting for the Peruvian cuisine the place executes well. Will be coming back to try pollo a la brasa or the arroz con mariscos.
I came to Limon on a Friday night. It was our first time here and our server, Roberto, made the experience so enjoyable. We had outside seating and their music, lighting, and heat lamps made it a great experience. The food was a 10/10. Will be coming back!

Flavorful Peruvian comfort food with a lively atmosphere Had a meal at Limon in Walnut Creek and tried the polli papas, empanadas, and truffle mac and cheese. The polli papas were delicious and comforting. The chicken was juicy and flavorful with nicely seasoned skin, while the fries were crispy and perfect for dipping into the sauces. The empanadas were a great starter. It's golden, flaky, and filled with savory, well-seasoned ingredients. The truffle mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and indulgent with a nice truffle aroma that wasn't overpowering. It was the perfect comfort-food side and paired surprisingly well with the chicken. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, and the food arrived quickly. The vibe is energetic and inviting, with a modern atmosphere that's great for both casual lunches and dinner outings. It feels lively without being overwhelming, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with flavorful food, great service, and plenty of comforting dishes. I'd definitely come back to try more of their Peruvian specialties.
I celebrated a friend's surprise 40th birthday here the other weekend. They allowed us to come in before the birthday girl arrived to help set up. We also were able to order from the menu rather than have a required prix fixe menu, so that was nice. I had the empanadas: the chicken and veggie ones were great. The cheese one was fine. The beef one, however, was not very good. The margaritas were nice! I had one classic, and one spicy cucumber one. The spicy cucumber one gave me heartburn, but it was worth it. Good place to come!
If the day is beautiful.....enjoy the patio. There's something about savoring outstanding cuisine while being gently kissed by the late summer sun. Quarter chicken....check! Paella....check! Awesome service....check! Limon had it all. When in Walnut Creek....I'Il be back!
Came here to the Walnut Creek Location for the first time and I can definitely say it won't be our last! Our server Wilfredo, was so sweet and attentive the entire time. We had the pescado classico ceviche, and the chicken skewers for our appetizers; would definitely recommend! Great flavor and textures!! For our mains we got the lomo saltado and the saltado mar y tierra. Both the seafood and beef were cooked and seasoned to perfection and the sauce paired beautifully. Will definitely come again!
Such a perfect place for good food, good vibes, ambiance and service. Wilfredo made sure we were taken care of during our meal and provided excellent and energetic service. He recommended the Mango panacotta and it was DELICIOUS. The pork belly chaufa is my favorite and the portions are huge. The cucumber margarita is a must. Always a great time coming here!
Perfection - I love everything about this place. The jalea is one of my favorite fried seafood dishes anywhere - the breading is so light, crisp, flavorful. I'm a sucker for lomo saltado, so I haven't explored the menu too much entre wise, but the polli-papas and ceviche(s) have also been great. Definitely come here to try something adventurous and flavorful - you won't be disappointed.
Limon is one of my go-to spots. I love ordering the lomo saltado with the lemon sauce and rice on the side. I'm also a fan of the empanadas. The service is pretty good and the ambiance is nice (:
Service and Staff: - Came here on a Saturday evening during dinner time, so we expected a wait. The hostess took our information down and said it would be about a 30 minute wait. After 30 minutes, I went to go check on our place in line. I came in right after someone who had just entered. She said she wanted a table for 2 and the hostess seated her right away. After the hostess came back, I asked about my place in line and she said she was just about to call my number. Seems untrue given she had just seated someone who wasn't on the list. Food and Drinks: - Ceviche: always a hit with its refreshing flavor - Lomo Saltado: the main and only reason I come here. Always my go-to dish and always delicious Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via street parking and local parking garages - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Better for smaller groups - Definitely gets busy during peak meal times

I had a light bite here for a late lunch with my daughter on our stop to our trip to Napa. They have an outdoor seating but inside is nicer and the restaurant is big and long. Good music, casual, friendly stuff. The two small plates we had was great, well prepared and tasty. When we were there it was late in the afternoon so the service was very fast. Our server Diana was very helpful to help us choose something small and light. I like the place and I will come again if I have a taste for Peruvian next time I am in the area. read more
The cousin was visiting from SoCal so thought I'd bring her somewhere nice instead of the usual restaurants in the hood lol. I made a reservation for a party of 4 and Limon called me the day of to confirm and ask if we wanted a table indoors or outdoors. My party and I all shared the ceviche mixto, 1/2 chicken (dark meat), crispy cauliflower and fiesta platter. The taro chips that came with the ceviche were really good. Tender chicken meat, not dry. I enjoyed the cauliflower and chicharron style chicken too. The beef empanadas were a bit on the salty side and truffle mac & cheese tasted alright. Haven't had too many experiences with Peurvian food but this is a place I'd definitely return to! They have a location in Oakland and SF too. read more
Came here on a weekday afternoon and we were seated immediately. The place is quite dim inside with the only light source coming from the front of the restaurant. For food we ordered the Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado. Our favorite of the two was the Arroz con Mariscos which was full of various seafood like clams, shrimp, fish, mussels. This dish was rich in flavor and is big enough to share with someone else. The lomo saltado was mediocre and salty. It needed a sauce and more flavor besides the char flavor of the grill + salt. read more

Got to see an old friend and made a res here for Saturday night. This place was packed and had a wait so I was grateful I made a res. Tried to checkin 15 min early but they weren't ready yet which was totally fine. We were seated outside and it did feel pretty cramped in my opinion. It seemed kind of hard and felt like a bit of a wait for a waiter to notice us. We eventually put in our drinks and food at the same time. The pescado clasico ceviche and taro chips came out before our drinks and even before my friend's water. We waited like 20min for her water. The ceviche was fine and I did enjoy the veg in it. The drinks came out after and both our drinks were bomb. The tacu lomo came out last and we added a side of plantains and it was also really amazing. Tacu tacu in lieu of the classic white rice and fries is such a game changer. I just wish that the waiting and getting a hold of our waiter would've been easier because the lomo and drinks were great. read more

You know the food is good when your entire table is eating in silence. Delicious hearty dishes that are great to share family style. For 5 of us we shared: Ya Pez(ceviche), Jardinera(salad), Lomo Saltado(steak), Polo a la Brass(whole chicken), plantains, and truffle mac and cheese, and for dessert the chocolate bandido(cake). This plus 4 cocktails and 2 coffees came out to $230, which I think is fair for how much we all ate. Some quick notes, the chicken is seasoned really well and is very juicy. The steak is tender but the sauce it's cooked in is a bit on the salty side. The ceviche is fresh with bite size pieces of fish(side note- when the ceviche arrives be sure to mix it with the lime sauce so that it cooks). The star for me was the truffle mac and cheese, the truffle is apparent but not overwhelming. They are known for their sours, my favorite is the lychee sour. Some things we could have done without include the salad, it was a mixed green salad, nothing special. As well as the chocolate cake. It was the size of a hostess cupcake and had a nice gooey center but the cake part was too dense. The inside is cozy with low lighting. Service is a bit on the slower side. As soon as you walk in they ask if you have a reservation, which we did not and we were still able to get seated right away on a Sunday. This place gets 5 stars just for the food alone, it is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. read more

Originally, my party wanted to try out Lita, the hip Caribbean place across the street. But, after being informed of the 1+ hour wait time, we opted to come here instead. I'm not super well versed with Peruvian fare, but overall, it was decent. We ordered the pulpo, lomo saltado, ceviche mixto, and a quarter of the dark chicken to share. The lomo saltado was a bit too charred and over-salted for my taste. The ceviche was fresh, and I liked the glutinous corn kernels that came with it. They're texture is chewier and unlike sweet corn which tends to be crunchier. The pulpo was easily the star dish! Sometimes octopus, if cooked improperly, can have the mouthfeel of rubber tires, but Limon's was perfectly tender, smoky, and delicious. One gripe I have is their portion sizes. The quarter dark chicken is a misnomer as it REALLY is a quail. I know Foster Farms and the mass chicken farming industry alike produce abnormally large chickens. On the other hand, Limon dishes out abnormally small chickens at sort of outrageous prices. read more
Decided to walk the bustling streets of Walnut Creek (even on a Wednesday!) We were drawn in by the amazing photos that other guests took. We loved it! Here's a quick run down of the flavor pallett below: Empanada: delicious, different, and savory. The sauce is fireeee (reminiscent of a hot mustard) . Chunky beef pieces with saucy flavor inside . Platano frito: I grew up with these kind of desserts in Asian culture. Sweet, but not too sweet paired together with delicious fruit flavors. This dish alone has me DRAWN! LYCHEEMELON DRINK(alcohol): Refreshing, tart, and kind of on the sweet side. PISCO SOUR (alcohol): Initially a Strong/subtle bitter taste, and zesty sweet finish. Limón burst into the San Francisco food scene in 2002 and we're very happy it found its way into the East Bay. Pollo a la Brasa is one of the most popular Peruvian food and it was the main reason we wanted to dine here. 1/2 Pollo a la Brasa with Chifa Green Beans and Yuca Fries - Top-billed on their menu, the chicken was as good as advertised. It was juicy, tender, and was nicely seasoned with spices and herbs. ¡Muy delicioso! I was glad they kept the organ/gland in the backside of the thigh cavity - I loved its rich, minerally flavor. The accompanying Aji Amarillo Huacatay sauce was outstanding. Pulpo a la Parrilla - Marinated in Aji Panca (Peruvian red pepper) barbeque sauce, this 3-piece octopus tentacle was quite a letdown as it came out salty. The texture was perfect though - soft and not chewy at all. It was served on top of a buttery yucca. Lomo Saltado - Stir-fried tenderloin chunks at their very best! This dish had excellent flavor and I was so digging the ginger-infused soy sauce. Sadly, the rice was undercooked. They really brought that celebratory atmosphere here because this place was loud - like really loud! What a little gem for Peruvian food! I wanted to try a bit of everything so we ordered: Fiesta platter -- fried chicken, beef empanadas and truffled Mac and cheese. Fried chicken was not battered, skinless and very crispy. However, I found it a bit dry. The beef in the empanada was nicely spiced. The skin was fried crispy like a fried wonton. I prefer empanada that is made from pastry dough. Truffled Mac and cheese was delicious. Can't go wrong there. Grilled prawns -- perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection and meat was tender. Brussel sprouts was also perfectly fried with a lemon vinaigrette and almonds. Arroz con marisco was simply sublime! Aromatic , tender, topped with clams, mussels, shrimp, squid and fish. Loved it! Overall my favorites were the arroz and grilled prawns. read more

If you go here, do your self a favor and try the rotisserie with the amarillo sauce. Chicken was tender, skin crispy! But let's be honest. It's the sauce that makes it. Kinda disappointed they make you pay for it seperate. But other than that, it was perfect! Chimicurri here is my favorite out of most places. Yuca potato super crispy and rich Jasmine Rice is flavored and pairs perfectly with the chicken Mango Lemonade to wash it all down. Very enjoyable! read more

I've never had Peruvian food before and I thought it was really good ! Here are my thoughts : Location: The ambiance was really nice outside, and the restaurant is vibey. Food: Good seafood, if you like fish and chips check out Jalea Wait: The wait time was not long at all, about 10 minutes. Price: Prices are a little high, the Jalea was about 23$. My family and I made a visit to this restaurant on Monday 3/11 around 7pm, made reservations in advance. We were greeted at the door by a wonderful hostess who checked us in and we were immediately taken to our seats. The waiter came right over, he was very welcoming and explained the menu as this was our first visit to this establishment. We ordered appetizers with his assistance. The appetizers were delivered after a short wait and I must say it was worth the wait, the empanadas was amazing, sauce..delicious. We soon ordered our entrees and they were just as good. While it seemed rather crowded for a Monday night, the vibe was great, music was at the right volume, which I enjoyed. The space, as a whole was a little smaller than expected however I loved, loved the cozy feel. We will definitely be returning for my birthday. read more

Another option for Peruvian cuisine in Walnut Creek. We were early, right there as soon as they opened for lunch. But it didn't take long for it to be filled with patrons, which tells you that is one of the more popular restaurants in the area. The food did not disappoint, especially loved the empanadas. The wait staff are very friendly, nice and helpful. The price is reasonable. Will definitely visit if craving for Peruvian food and recommend to family and friends read more
I love Peruvian food and Limon served some amazing dishes. However, I need to return to try them again as we dine in their patio at night and it was so cold even with the heat lamp and so noisy that it was hard to enjoy our meal. (And I forgot to take photos of two dishes!) We ordered the ceviche mixto with taro chips. A variety of seafood in a wonderful citrus. A nice portion to share. We also enjoyed the octopus and lengua dishes. But as I mentioned, since it was so cold outside, our dishes got cold quickly but they were still flavorful. Sorry no photos. We had a bit of leftovers and asked that it be boxed to do. We mentioned twice. Apparently the bus boy did not understand and our leftovers were tossed. The server said they could cook us one of our dishes again but we chose to have dessert and coffee as a replacement. However there was confusion again as the tres leches dessert we ordered was no longer avail and it took half an hour before we were told that. We did finally get a warm chocolate cake but we were cold and tired from the evening. Hope to return again to try Limon in better circumstances. read more
