Why we love this location- food is always perfect, never compromised because it's busy, never a chicken out of place or a ceviche missing a morsel. They are consistent in quality and service. The food and drinks are really good! I recommend filling up on small plates and apps because that's where the restaurant really shines. The main courses are just alright but highly recommend the empanadas and anything sea food and you will not be disappointed. Where you will be disappointed is the bathrooms. I'm sorry, I'm not one to write a bad review (check out my history) but this can't go without word. They are gross which makes me never want to go back. If they don't take care of the bathrooms I worry about the kitchen. First it's co ed which is just weird I don't know how I feel about men in the same bathroom as me and not to mention they pee all over every toilet seat and floor ! I have been coming to this location for years, and yesterday, I received the best service at the bar with Alejandro and the assistant, who was extremely efficient with the food and service. The pollo cane comes within 5 mins and never disappoints. Super crispy served with fries, and get the green hot sauce. Alejandro was professional, kind, prompt, and super attentive, he made my day! Was highly recommended to try Limon here in WC. Not my first time having Peruvian food, which I love, so was excited for this one! Really cute space, dimly lit and a great spot for couples and groups. They have an open kitchen and a TV for viewing pleasure. Ordered the Ceviche Limon and Taro Chips to start, a Chicha Morada and Lomo Saltado. Loved the Chicha Morada, super refreshing and comfortingly warm due to the cinnamon spice. The Ceviche Limon came with fried calamari and red snapper, squid and shrimp. The ceviche was okay, the salsa and garnish were great additions but didn't find the seafood to be too fresh and the calamari was very fishy smelling. I didn't have stomach issues, but just some things to note. I didn't end up eating the rest of the fried calamari. Also they charge $4 for taro chips. Portion is also small for it being $30. Lomo Saltado is a must order of course, thought it was just okay here. The meat was tough and dry, the stir fry sauce and fries were good. Not the best Lomo Saltado I've had. Service was friendly and food came out quick. Just felt like the food quality was just not there, which is unfortunate since these items are Peruvian signature dishes. From the salad to the meat to the shrimp, I did not enjoy any of it. It was a waste of money. I don't know how this place has a 4.2 star rating. I guess you need to acquire a taste for what they serve. It was pricey. Although everybody was nice and the service was great I wish the food could've matched up the same. Limon is a nice clean restaurant right on Locust Street in downtown Walnut Creek. We went here for a birthday lunch with 8 guests. We had a reservation and we got seated right away. Initially the service was good but they did kind of forget about us toward the end. The food was overall very good. The whole chicken was tender and well seasoned. The pork belly chaifu was very good but was served with an overwhelming amount of rice which seemed a bit too salty. All of the portions were pretty generous so consider that when ordering. The yucca fries were excellent but the sweet potato fries were a tad over salted. Overall it was a good experience but the service was a bit lackluster. read more

This is probably my third or fourth time here, and I haven't been disappointed yet. A brought another friend along today and she cannot stop talking about the spring mix salad with the added chicken. She wanted something lite, but good. The salad did not disappoint. Of course I added more to my menu besides the salad. I had to have the spicy fish ceviche, which is always fresh and so very good. Our server was very sweet and checked on us just enough. We went around 1:30pm, the in between lunch crowd which was perfect timing. We went on Thursday night to beat the Valentine crowd. We had the scallop ceviche and the seafood combo. They were perfect. I had the pisco sour and enjoyed it so much I got a second one. Unlike most places this drink had a kick and, while worth then, I did feel it after. Service was right on and as a consequence, we will most definitely be back. Get ready to spend $$$ here. Came on a Saturday at 7pm to celebrate my friends' birthdays. The three of us surprisingly got seated right away even though the place was packed! I didn't love how noisy it was inside. So next time, I'll try to get a spot outside on a nice day. We started with the Mixto Amarillo Ceviche with Taro chips and the Camarones Crocantes. Both were delicious. My friends got the Ribeye steak with added Garlic Shrimp and the Crispy Pork Belly Chaufa. They seemed to like their dishes. I got the Lomo Saltado. I don't know if I was just full at this point, but I was a little underwhelmed. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the noise level. There was music going and television screens. It was definitely a lively atmosphere, which wasn't my vibe for this family dinner I planned. We were escorted upstairs where they have larger parties. I thought maybe it would be quieter upstairs, but it was just as loud with an even larger TV screen. We were seated at a table with 10 settings even though we only had 8 in our party. We asked if 2 chairs could be removed to give us more elbow space, but they said they would just ignore those 2 extra seats. It was a bit cramped, and we had to slide down the row of seats to get to the inside seats. The staff was very attentive; maybe a bit too attentive. There were times when I felt the servers just kinda hovering and taking away plates as soon as they were empty. I appreciate the attention, and maybe it's just my paranoia. So far, I wasn't too impressed, but the food really won me over. Their menu is quite large with lots of appetizers, seafood, chicken, and beef dishes. They also have an extensive drinks menu. What we had: + Truffle mac n cheese - this is adult mac n cheese. It had just the right hint of truffle. + Platano frito - fried plantains. It was good. + Empanada sampler - comes with 4 empanadas: beef, cheese, veggie, and chicken. These were awesome, really crispy outside, with lots of filling. The chicken was really good, and the cheese was really ooey gooey. The veggie one is very mushroom forward, which I enjoyed. + Bruselas - roasted Brussels sprouts was very good. Nice crispy bits and good flavor. + Picante de Mariscos - jumbo prawns, calamari, mussels, clams, and scallops in a slightly spicy sauce. This was great. + Arroz con Mariscos - this was very much like the Picante de Mariscos except the seafood sits on a bed of saffron rice. I only wish the rice had a crispy bottom like a paella. But flavor was wonderful. + Lomo Saltado - stir-fried beef tenderloin with tomatoes, onions, and french fries, in soy sauce with jasmine rice on the side. The beef was kinda dry and overcooked. Might have been better if the beef was sliced thinner than in chunks. + Chocolate Bandido - chocolate cake with melty chocolate center and ice cream. I live in the neighborhood, so I've been coming here a few times a year ever since it opened. The food is ok, the drinks are pretty decent. My last visit, I went in on a Wednesday night around 8:20 so it was dying down. I ordered from the front desk about $100 worth of ceviche and sides to go. The bar was clearing out so I told them I'd wait for my food at the bar. The bar is about 10 feet away, and I sat there, ordered a drink and waited and waited. 45 minutes later, I finally went back to the front desk and asked about my food. They pulled it out right away and handed it to me. I told him, "I ordered 45 minutes ago, and I've been sitting at the almost empty bar 10 feet away waiting for this". He said "would you like utensils?" It just rubbed me the wrong way. read more

Unfortunately, the chicken was dry and the accompanying sauces arrived after I had consumed most of the first one. Sadly, the young man delivering the sauces didn't tell me what they were and left before I could ask him. Luckily, I took small tastes with my pinky since I can't handle spicy things which one was. Limón was a great choice for a party of 16, I made reservations prior to our dinner but people rsvp'd last minute. Saw reviews here raving about this place. I went there, great customer service, great atmosphere and ambiance. Too bad food was not so great. The arroz con mariscos was decently tasty but super salty to a point I had to drink a bit of water after every bite, and the pollo with yuca....the fried chicken bites are so rough, and dried/overcooked. Probably never coming back again. I am sure they have other good dishes, but stay away from the 2 I mentioned. Or bring it home and dilute with some chicken brooth. read more
