Heard great stories from this place so decided to try some of my favorites from back home. The ceviche was decent, needed a bit more if rocoto to bring up the flavor. Maybe a suggestion will be to ask the customers if you wanted a bit spicier? The anticuchos were good but it lacks on quantity. The lomo saltado was my biggest dissapointment. Had lots of nerve on the meat on a a dish where the meat is the star. The meat seemed boiled instead of flamed at a high heat. Service wad good, server kept checking on us and refilling our drinks. LOVED this place! I came here for lunch on a Saturday and was seated immediately. It was a little hard for me to find the restaurant since it's located in the back of the complex facing Collin Creek Mall. My friend was running late so I chatted with my waitress. I was looking at the juices so she brought samples of the Maracuya (passion fruit) juice and the Chicha Morada. I decided to go with the Maracuya juice. I've never had passion fruit juice and it was amazing!! I definitely recommend trying it. The waitress also brought out some bread and butter. When my friend arrived, we ordered our entrees. I got the Aji de Gallina and my friend got the Tallarines Verdes con Asado. The food came out really quickly and we dived in. My dish was a traditional Peruvian chicken dish. It was shredded chicken in a light sauce with rice and potatoes. It was delicious! After paying we continued sitting and chatting for a while. Then to our surprise the waitress comes out with a complimentary Tres Leches cake for us! The cake was to die for. It's one of the best tres leches I've had. By this time the owner was also at the restaurant and came by our table to talk with us. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had. Being from Peru I'm very picky when it comes to Peruvian food. I can honestly say Lima Taverna has some of the best Peruvian food I've ever had! All the flavors are spot on. Little details such as cancha in the ceviche are classic and most places miss it. All the dishes as you can from my pictures look very tasty and the presentation makes you excited for what you are about to eat! The decor has an upscale vibe to it. The service is always good, nothing is ever missing from our table. The owner also comes by to make sure everything is perfect every visit. My wife and I love going here so we are here often trying to support a local business, we wish the best for our friends at Lima Taverna. read more

Food tasted good no doubt. 2 stars out for service because was awful, food was brought in installments, they didn't check on our drinks, we needed some salt and refills I couldn't get the server soon enough, my dish was last and I saw a server walking around with it to another table then back to kitchen then back out and she went to our server and then she brought it to me (What was that all about) 1 start out for Value, prices on Yelp.com are outdated, portions are a little bit too small but ok however ceviche was way too small. It isn't about money, it's about value we count all the mistakes they incurred to make our dinner experience great. We love dinning out (Nobu, Seasons 52, Del Frescos, Perry's, etc etc) Food, Service and Value. I hope it gets better because there is potential. read more

The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because service was slow, the restaurant was full and there were only two waitresses which clearly were not enough. Many customers were complaining about the time. Besides that, Lima Taverna serves authentic Peruvian food and its amazingly good. We had dinner here on Saturday and absolutely loved it. It was great from a social distancing perspective and the food was awesome. We were trying Peruvian food for the first time and fell in love. Let's begin by saying that due to the few Peruvian restaurants around here, one has to be measured against each other. In this case, Tineo is the top contender, and against which I measure the food quality. Ambience: very nice, upscale-ish type of environment. If you're wanting to take someone on Peruvian food date, this would be the place. Surprisingly nice compared to the outside strip mall exterior. Food: absolutely delicious! The ceviche was extraordinary. One of the best I've ever had. Their lomito arepa was great too. If what you're into is arroz chaufa, quality of ajis, or empanadas, Tineo's are better. However, the quality of the food was great, and the plating is intentionally beautiful. The desserts are amazing. Their tres leches cake was superb Service: this is the only reason why my review is not a 5 Star. When we came in, there was only one waitress for the entire place. She was also seating people, so it took an ungodly amount of time to get drinks. However, within the course of our meal, more wait staff showed up, and the quickness of the service improved. This is the first time I've had Peruvian food so I'm no expert to this restaurant's authenticity but everything my family ordered was amazing! We started off with the Ceviche Mixto. The seafood was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. For my entree I ordered the Pescado a lo Macho, which included Salmon and other seafood in a flavorful sauce. Serving size was very generous and I was more than satisfied by this point. I have to also point out the fantastic service by the owner himself. He offered his favorite recommendations and was always checking up on our table. Following our meal he brought us complimentary dessert, which was Tres Leches Cake in shot glasses. I came here for a solo dinner upon a recommendation of a friend. It definitely looks like a great place for date night (I plan to take my husband here next time). I ended up ordering a few small items: leche de tigre ceviche, beef empanada, and the leche flan. The beef empanada was really good. I loved the leche de tigre ceviche: creamy, spicy, and fresh. The highlight was the leche flan, which was made with lucuma. This was the best leche flan I've had so far. It literally melted in my mouth. I ended up ordering a second one to take home. The staff were really accommodating and friendly. The restaurant is beautiful as well! Fun and lively music playing in the background added to the beautiful atmosphere. We started with the Anticucho de Pollo and Empanada. Both were really tasty! The empanada had a flaky crust, and a very moist interior with nice spices. For the main course, we had Jalea Limena which was lightly breaded and fried nicely, with a mix of shrimp, calamari, fish, mussels, and yucca with nice dipping sauces. For dessert, we had the "donuts" made from squash and sweet potato with molasses topping. The meal's pacing was very relaxed, and before we finished, the owner came over to see how our food was. My rating is purely on service , I didn't even get to try the food! We sat there for 15-20 minutes and no one came to take our order or bring us water, nothing! It's like we didn't exist. Another couple walks in they sit them and right away ask what they wanted to drink and took their appetizer order. I was baffled and walked out. We drove 50 mins to try this place. We've been to this restaurant twice now and have been impressed both times! It is a small business so we've been greeted by the owner both times including on Peruvian Independence Day where we were offered a complimentary drink, Pisco (Peruvian). The ceviche is one of the best we've had. As a fish, they use sea bass and the flavor is unique and distinct from traditional Mexican ceviche we've had. Another favorite is the Lomo Saltado. Walking into Lima Taverna for the first time, I instantly felt as if I was back in Chincha with the live drums; you can just feel the music. The atmosphere was inviting and you feel like family (Eliseo is a great host). I had ordered just one empanada to go, and I will tell you that the last bite was just a great as the first. Juicy beef, with just the right spices, wrapped in a light, buttery, flaky crust. Also, don't pass on the dipping sauce. I forgot it was in the bag, yet still gave it a thumbs up on my taste test. They might be a bit pricey , but the quality is superb. It has been 10 mins since I finished it and the flavors are still surging my taste buds.
