The chips were basic, but the beans and salsa that came with it were tasty. The ribeye chicharron had good flavor to it and the pico and guac were fresh. The alambre was good and the steak was flavorful, tender and moist. It was a bit greasy, but the overall flavor combination was great. The enchiladas were quickly put together and the red sauce on it just tasted like warm, watery salsa. The soft serve margarita was a lovely presentation and it was great and refreshing. I visited the weekend of April 25, 2026 after reading a positive review for it on NextDoor. Staff: friendly enough, no issue there Chips & Salsa: excellent, they were warm and not salty and salsa and black bean dip are tasty Entree: brisket topped enchiladas were terrible the description read the mashed potato enchiladas were fried but they were very soft and swimming in an off-tasting poblano sauce and the brisket I think was also cooked in the same poblano sauce and not the fresh chopped brisket that I was expecting. I forced a second bite but it was literally gross and you could not have paid me to finish it. I recommend this entree be removed from your menu. Drink: swirl frozen margarita was good and I asked for tajin on the rim which is a must If I came back it would just be for margs and chips&salsa. read more

You may want to be a margarita and hold on this will be a long one. So I visit my mom and we always look for new places since I don't live here. I saw the few reviews here and was excited that this was a new restaurant and who doesn't like good Mexican food We walked in and there was a group in front of us so we waited after they were seated the bar tender came to the desk and I asked for a table for 2. He said give him about 10 minutes. I look around and the place is half empty but ok. Now here comes a key player, the tall skinny old guy (TSOG). I responded to him and asked for a table for two. He says I have a booth right there, I said a table please my mom needs a chair not a both. He says how about this booth. I said a table please. So not the booth I said no a table please. He said fine take that one. Now mind you there were plenty of 4 tops and 2 tops available. So he seats us and forgets us. I watch TSOG sit 3 other groups as time passes and notice he brought them chips and salsa immediately while we sit there. Then TSOG comes with chips and salsa walks past us and brings it to another table that was seated after us. So I figure he is pissed because we wouldn't take his booth. After sitting there for 15-20 minutes I got up went to the bar and ask the bartender if anyone had our table. He took a breath and said I'll do it. He walks over and I said if we are going to be ignored the whole evening to let us know now. He assured us we wouldn't be. I asked him who is TSOG he said I don't know he just showed up. So great a stranger just started picking and choosing who he wants to help. He came back with our drinks and took our order. Keep in mind we walked in at 6:33. So we wait and wait and wait some more. The other bartender who has been pressed into service as a server now saw the dust collecting on my empty tea. He made the mistake and asked how things were. I said terrible. He looked at me and I said the service is terrible and you guys aren't ready to be open yet. He looked at me and said I know. So about 45 minutes come and go and the young man comes back and says " you haven't gotten your food yet?" I said know no. He said let me check on it. He then comes out with it. I said how long has it been sitting there. He said sometimes the servers forget to check. (Isn't it the expediter's job to make sure it goes out?). Well as you can guess it was cold. The melted cheese has already solidified again. The food had no flavor. It's as if they just cooked everything with zero seasoning. We ate the "food" and then the wait continues. I had to get up to ask for the bill. We finally got to walk out at 7:55. I might add there was a table of 6 ladies that were there before us and they finally got their food after ours came out. I did see one of the ladies get up twice to ask two different people where their food was. I now suspect the few reviews they received had to come from friends and relatives. This experience was a complete 180°. If this is truly a new restaurant why are the owners not on hand? I do welcome them to reach out. read more

Better than expected food. The complementary chips, salsa and bean dip at the beginning of the meal are great! We also ordered a cup of queso for a starter, but I found it to be overwhelmingly salty. Despite that initial disappointment, the service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The restaurant is a medium size and on a Saturday night, it was slightly less than half full. The sun was crazy bright, but the restaurant took preemptive measures to block out the intense light. Very thoughtful. The decor is very casual. Since this was my first time here, I wanted to get a baseline of what their Tex Mex repertoire was like, so I ordered an enchiladas dinner. At $15, this was a pretty decent value. I got my choice of 3 enchiladas and choice of 2 sides. There are 6 sides to choose from: Spanish Rice, white rice, refried beans, black beans, borracho beans and Mexican Street Corn. I chose the Spanish rice and the refried beans since it was my first visit. My verdict on the beans and rice was they were quite generic. Next time I will try some other sides. The enchiladas offer different stuffings like chicken, beef or cheese, with your choice of sauce. I went with 2 cheese enchiladas and one chicken. The chicken tasted a bit on the dry side. But the accompanying sour cream sauce was very tangy and delicious! The two cheese enchiladas were covered in poblano sauce and chile con carne. The poblano sauce was okay, but the CCC was extra tasty and something I would definitely order over and over. I think Alexander's Cantina and Cocina will be a neighborhood staple for years to come. I enjoyed more of my meal than I had expected, and would like to try other offerings. The food here is very heavy in my opinion, so come hungry. read more

True authentic Mexican spot! Great service and great food! Started with chips and queso! The light and slightly spicy queso hit the spot. The d.u.i. drink was refreshing and hit the spot, slightly salty and sweet. The enchilada place was filled with classic flavors and the sour cream sauce was one of the best I had. The chicken was tender and juicy. The Mexican rice and street corn were my favorite sides by far. The quesabirrias tacos were accompanied by the most flavorful broth and with just a squeeze of lime, the perfect bite. Beautifully decorated inside! A must visit if you are in the area! read more

My husband picked up to go orders from Alexander's last night. I ordered the carne asada. I was excited to try. Well, this is what I got (see photos). The meat was so tough and it appears they didn't even flip the meat to cook on both sides. It was basically raw! Totally unacceptable for a $22 meal. We had such high hopes for them since they are close to home. Too many other excellent restaurants to put up with this. I gave 2 stars because the street corn and queso were good. read more

Have been there two times now. Both times the food was very good. I was surprised to find fried rice on the menus. I love fried rice so I tried it. It's some of the best I've had. Loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken and tons of vegetables. Great flavor and perfectly cooked rice. Who knew some of my favorite fried rice comes from a Mexican restaurant. Love the food at Alexander's in Plano, which is five minutes from our house. We found out the second Alexander's opened two weeks ago in North Dallas. I would never visit a Mexican restaurant that calls their carne asada and fajita meat "fajita steak'. They clearly don't know that there is no cut of beef on a cow called fajita steak. This almost always means you're getting cheap cuts of beef and not skirt steak, or they just give you whatever they can find cheap, or even worse, they don't know the part of the cow the beef is from which are all scary! I would never eat here. There are several Hispanic restaurants close by that serve trimmed skirt steak. read more

Food here is really good--excellent actually. It is so nice to have found our new "go to" restaurant by our neighborhood, there haven't been good reliable places to eat for a long time. First time visiting. The service was great! The atmosphere was clean and very decent. I would like to see a swinging door perhaps placed in the doorway leading into the kitchen. Drink prices during happy hour are very affordable. Marguerita was a little weak but decent for the price. The birria tacos were a little tough but not so much that consuming them was a displeasure. However, the food that was being served to other patrons looked amazing. I'm wanting more flavor. Let me just start by saying their food is amazing and the staff is great! We went for dinner last night and realized upon arrival that I accidentally ordered for the Plano location. Thankfully the man up front at the time accommodated us and made it there instead; and i'm so glad they did because their Chile Relleno's were BOMB! The rice and beans were also really good!! The To-Go order came with a bag of chips, salsa, and bean dip. This was so heavenly that we had to go back for breakfast to check them out because what in the hidden gem did we just find. We get there for brunch and get their Breakfast Omelette and Chilaquiles and of course, that was amazing as well! The food was also served with chips, salsa, and bean dip. I got the Horchata and it was so good! The service was great! Our waiter Oscar made sure we were taken care of the whole time and was super friendly and welcoming. There's plenty of seating too with three tv's over the bar. I believe all three should be visible from every table. This will now be a regular spot for us every weekend. read more
