Omg The best Peruvian food in town I'm married to Peruvian guy for 25 years. Learned to cook most of Peruvian dishes from his mom. This place is so good it would knock her socks off if she would still b alive. TryPicarones - the only place on DFW that serves that. Peruvian donuts from sweet potato umhhhhh .... Amazing restaurant and food! Fancy, but you get what you paid for. Great selection of Peruvian dishes and drinks. Wake up with a leche de tigre and enjoy a lomo saltado dish, you won't regret it. Make sure to get the Lucuma Flan, I make special stops to get this when I am in the area. I have yet to have a dish that I didn't like. What an amazing surprise! I was looking for a dinner experience that was a little different and I was not let down. Great vibe for a small restaurant. The service was some of the best I've had. Greeted immediately and seated quickly. I started with a pisco sour, that tasted like it was made from all fresh ingredients. We ordered the Tallarin Saltado and the Tallarines Verdes con Asado. Both are highly recommended. The host or owner brought us a special creamy sauce made from Peruvian peppers. He said to put it on the meat. It added some heat and a good flavor. After the meal he brought us a complementary shot made from pisco and the same pepper. We talked for a little while and he invited us to their Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant the following day, unfortunately we were going out of town, otherwise I would have taken him up on it. It really was one of the best dinning experiences I've had in a while and look forward to going back. read more

We started with an empanada which was very nice-right amount of spice. Next was Aji Amarillo, which was FABULOUS! Then desert, not sure what it was called, but they were little cream filled cookies. Perfect. While I'm no expert in Peruvian food, we've had the pleasure of eating in many Peruvian restaurants in the past few years on the west coast, and abroad. This is most definitely my favorite, and one of the better dining experiences we've had in quite a while. First, the atmosphere is great. It's so common these days to pop up a fast-food type restaurant - there are just too many of these in the area. Lima Taverna has great decor, soft lighting, comfortable seating, a full bar, etc. It's suitable for casual dining, or date night - Awesome. Second, service was exceptional - and I do mean exceptional. We were greeted as we arrived, our orders were taken promptly, the waitress was great with her recommendations, and the owner (or manager?) checked in on us twice - I wish I'd have gotten his name - he cared - that goes a long way! The food.... YUM!!!! The fresh baked bread was unexpected and wonderful. The Ceviche Mixto is among the better Ceviche I've ever had, perfectly spiced (we ordered medium), fresh seafood, generous portion - wonderful! The Lomo Saltado was great - such flavorful meat, I was licking the plate! The Aji de Gallina was delicious as well - the shredded chicken, Parmesan cheese sauce, and potatoes were a great combination and not at all what I expected - delicious! We don't normally have dessert, but I loved this place so much I just wanted to keep eating! We shared the Flan and Tres Leches - both the best I've ever had - amazing! If that wasn't enough, the owner was kind enough to bring us the Alfajores to try - they were wonderful too! Try this place out - it's a hidden gem. Peruvian food is very approachable, it's not too spicy, not bland - just really wonderfully flavorful - I think Lima Taverna has something for everyone to enjoy. I can't wait to go back! read more

As has been previously mentioned this place is overpriced. After spending $120 plus for 2...I kinda feel robbed but I feel worse for the owner if he or she continues to peddle this overpriced parody of what food might be like in Peru. I was charged $4 for a side of rice since my $25 entre only included a few sticks of yucca. The seafood platter was so heavily dredged in batter I only got a faint taste of what was actually very low quality fish, shrimp and calamari. A $7 empanada was tiny and sad. The $20 ceviche was laughable. Needless to say, I won't be back. With all of the dining options in Plano, I try to frequent independent owners trying to do something authentic....but if this place was a chain it would have long since closed. If you are the owner reading this...good luck. With the challenge of your location you will need to review what you are doing if you hope to survive. read more

Super small portions with an overly priced menu. If I could, I would leave Zero Stars, but Yelp won't allow me. I've been to several Peruvian restaurants in the DFW area and this is by far the worst service I've received. It took over 2 hours for the food to come out (I came with a party of 10 other people, so I understand the food will take a while to come out, but 2 HOURS? Are you kidding me?). A few of our guests had to cancel their order. This is absolutely ridiculous. I came on Peruvian Independence Day and for the "show" we were told about they couldn't even hire a Peruvian band or musician, they had Argentinian gauchos there, like if We were celebrating Argentinas Independence Day at a Peruvian restaurant. 3 weeks ago, I came in for lunch to check out this place. The empanada was good but price was more than on line menu. One of the employees there came by and told me about the restaurant and I said I was thinking of setting up a group dinner there. He said they have special 3 course menu for groups of 16 or more, and he would throw in 1 free drink, alcohol or non alcohol. I asked him twice, is that right? He said yes. He gave me the menu and I made reservation. He wrote my reservation down in a notebook. A week later I called and called the restaurant and the cell phone number, nobody answered. I drove 30 minutes there to make sure they are still open. The waiter said their phone is not working. I said I was there to confirm and change the number of people. He looked thru the book and changed the number. I reiterate about the deal the guy offered me, Since he was just a waiter, he didn't know. I asked him to make sure to get the manager to call me. Nobody called. 4 days before the dinner, I called. I talked to a man, and he said yes sure whatever the deal was made before. The night of dinner came, and the guy(I assume owner) claims he didn't know anything about it and finally agreed to let us have 1 glass of wine each. And a family style meal. Normally family style should have enough food for everyone. We had 18 people. 9 at 2 tables and we had to share 2 plates of food per 4-5people and 1 shrimp per person. Actually there was only 8 shrimp at my table. Good thing 1 person did not eat shellfish. There was not enough food. The dessert was 1 small bread pudding split between 4 -5 people and very thin slice of chocolate cake/flan. And it all took 3 hours!!! The food taste good but it was more of an expensive tasting of 1 bite of food per person and we were charged $25.99 + tax. Very disappointed. They have just lost business from 18 people. read more

I have not written a review in a long time and I hate to have to write this but this was a very bad experience. The dishes are very overpriced. The portions are so small and there is no taste to the food. The service was horrible. No one even asked if we need anything else. We arrived at 6:30pm and received our food at 8:15pm. The staff was bringing one plate at a time. We were missing orders and we decided not to wait for them to make it. They don't know what real Peruvian food is or how to make it. We even told someone in management about it and he did not seem to care. He was just making jokes about it and then placed the check down and rushed back over with an iPad to come and collect the payment for the check. He even said I didn't want you guys leaving without paying which was insulting we would never do that even with a horrible experience as this one. read more
