Great food and attentive service. We had the Ceviche appetizer, Arroz Con Pollo, and the Pescado a lo Macho. For dessert we had the Tres Leche cake, and my wife had the Flan. This place is tucked away in the side of a little mall in Plano - but it is definitely a wonderful little gem in Dallas. I've been looking for a good Peruvian place to get some Aji de Gallina and definitely found exactly what I was looking for. It's a warm, filling comfort food with chicken and potatoes in a creamy curry. I tried the fried rice with chicken (Chaufa) which was delicious as well. Just ate there a few minutes back and the service and the food was horrible . The only good thing was the attentiveness of the lady clearing the tables and other . Had the ceviche de pescado ( fish was cut so big ) and all you could taste was the MSG in the leche de Tigre not much acidity nor spicy for a ceviche, love the touch of the glaze in the sweet potato camote. Then for the octopus you get one miniature tentacle and it was so tough, good marinade though, the cause it came with not good . Then the jalea I don't know what fish they use but again they cut it so big and the mussels didn't even open fully . Didn't come with any lime wedges. And then my wife is been craving picarones for a while to be exact since we went to Peru last almost 7 years ago , so we ordered them and the place was getting super busy ( understandable) it is a Friday night, took almost 15 extra minutes to get, and since our sever never checked in with us I told them I wanted the picarones to go . So when we rush to get home only a 15 minute drive my wife opens the picarones and instead of getting the miel de chancaca or any type of honey . We get Freaking ketchup !!!!!! Peruvian reviewer here! I've been coming here for years. I came here on the 4th of July so thank you for being opened. We started off with un ceviche mixto and anti cucho. As always, very very good! They brought us warm bread. Then we ordered lomo saltado which is to die for! Very juicy meat. Good portion size. The owner and servers are always attentive. They treated us to shots and an alfajor dessert! Very good! They're just all around very down to earth people. I cannot recommend them enough. Oh and their pisco sour is oh so very yummy! They don't have Bloody Mary on their menu but the owner made my man one and he loved it! They even added Rocoto to the drink! Very spicy. Check them out! read more

Came across this charming little spot while running an errand up in plano and I'm very happy I did. A few months ago I had the privilege to go Peru and I can tell you the food is AMAZING! So when I saw the chance to get some Peruvian food in Dallas I jumped on it and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is very clean, the service was very fast and the waiter was even able to make a custom dish that I had eaten in Peru that was not on the menu. If you get a chance, be sure to try the "Huancaina" sauce, which is a Peruvian aji amarillo sauce. It's like a funky, delicious Alfredo sauce. I like to order it with the fettuccine and put it with the Lomo Saltado, which is a traditional Peruvian Wok stir fry of beef tenderloin strips, potatoes, onions and tomatoes. Nice little out of the way Peruvian restaurant. Well worth searching out. The ceviche is wonderful and the desserts are out of this world. The wine is expensive, but I highly recommend a Chica Morado, a refreshing, authentic Peruvian cocktail. The owner, Eliseo Figueroa greets each guest and makes certain their every need is being fulfilled. The atmosphere is so cool. We were there on a Saturday night and the center of the restaurant has been cleared to create a dance floor. The only reason I'm giving it a 1 is due to the excruciating pain in my ears from the music!! The girl is a great singer but this is a small space. A great restaurant with good food and great wait staff. But my ears are bleeding and I will need to see a physician after tonight. I'm bummed I never learned sign language. The gentlemen at the door were most gracious. One spoke with me about my to-go order and assured me Lima Taverna could accommodate my vegan preference. He suggested a stir fry of rice, vegetables, tofu, and a little oil. I asked if I could have extra, extra vegetables. He said no problem. That sounded great. I just had the most spectacular meal at Lima. My friend wanted to come here for her birthday. She had lived in Peru for a month and fell in love with their food. From her perspective, the food was authentic. I can't speak to the authenticity but I can speak to how flavorful, delicious, beautifully presented, scrumptious and perfectly portioned it was. We had a family-style dinner so I got to try several dishes. We ordered 2 different drinks, 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts. Appetizers: Ceviche - the most flavorful ceviche I've ever had! Causa - layers of mashed potatoes and shredded chicken all packed together to create extreme deliciousness. Entrees: Lomo saltado - this was my favorite dish of the night. It was packed with flavor. The beef was tender and soft - no knives needed. You can taste the Asian inspiration which was the perfect added touch. Agi de Gallina - creamy and filling. I enjoyed this dish but not as much as the lomo and arroz de pollo. Again, the flavor was bursting but it could have benefited from having more shredded chicken in the dish as they were a bit sparring with the chicken. Arroz de Pollo - the rotisserie chicken was juicy, tender and well seasoned. It was paired with a vegetable rice and pickled onions - the added perfect touch. Dessert: Alfajores - little sandwiches made of heaven. Shortbread sandwiches with a dulce de leche type filling sprinkled with powered sugar. You get four bite sized sandwiches so you definitely still have room. It's worth it! Flaun de lucuma - it tastes like your traditional flaun but has a better texture. You can fit it in your stomach, trust me. Order it! Drinks: Pisco Sour - had my friend not ordered this for us, we may not have tried this. But it was tasty. It's a drink mixed of lime, egg white, and peisco. Amarcuya - this was my favorite drink of the night. It full of passion fruit goodness. Yum! I highly, highly recommend Lima Taverna! What a great break from our restaurant routine! Had never been to a Peruvian restaurant, so we didn't know what to expect. Traveling to Peru is on our bucket list, and this is the closest we could get to Peru today. The food was delicious! The restaurant experience took it over the top! The restaurant ceiling lights reveal key words in Quechua, the Peruvian native language. We were given a translation list to understand what each word meant. Then we met Eliseo, who warmly welcomed us as if we were guests in his home. We tasted a Peruvian liquor before leaving. Not exactly a trip to Peru, but as close as we can get to today in Plano! The food is tasty and keep the Peruvian flavours, but over priced and not good service. after I called during the week and then again yesterday asking about the time the show will start, they told me at 4:00 pm, I went yesterday, July 27th 2019, with my husband and 2 teen boys and arrived at 4:05 pm. we sat pretty fast, nobody came to take our order for a while, the place was not busy yet, maybe 5 tables with clients. the food was delicious, nice presentation and tasty. For a family of 4, each one ordered one main dish (2 lomo saltados, 1 pescado a lo macho and 1 seco de carne) and we had 2 appetizers (ceviche mixto & yucas fritas) ; the bill was $129 and cents. $$$$$ My review is mostly about the offered show, i want my children to see a little of what Perú is culturally, so we drove 40 minutes with tolls to this restaurant to eat and see the show that was supposed to start at 4pm, we ate and the show did not start, I talked with one of the waiters and also the host of the show, they said that it should start by 5:15 9 One hour and 15 minutes later!!!) it really started like at 5:30 pm . I saw the waiter talking to the them talking with the dancers that were sitting on another table since around 4:15 pm. when we asked for the bill, it never came, had to get up and go to the front, where I got to talk with the owner of the restaurant, who responded that HE WOULD LIKE TO CONTROL HUMANS. That was not my point, my point is that we all need to respect other people's time and consideration with them. If they said that they will start at 4, i understand a delay of 30 minutes, but not 90 minutes. Of course we won't be going back, even though the food was good, maybe one of the best ones we had tried in the DFW area, but after the lack of professionalism and consideration with the clients, I won't recommend it. I have to say that we have gone to other places where they messed up on something and there is always some kind of apology with a discount or freebie that shows they want you back. Amazing food, and unforgettable experience! I traveled in to the area to take a customer out for a dinner meeting. We had a lovely evening, the manager Jeff was stellar and engaging. After the evening wrapped up and my customer left, the owner spent some time with me sharing stories, teaching me a bit about Peru and his family recipes. I felt like family by the time I left. Taverna Lima has done good throught it's transition. I'm not an expert on Peruvian, but my husband is and he enjoyed it. Since it is at it's begining point I can understand lack in certain areas, but the one thing that did not lack was food and service. A couple of weeks ago we went with a group of 6 and the food and drinks were delicious. The owner tended to us in a very friendly and kind manner. Gave us things to try and of course after trying we ordered. Definiately a place to return and give the gourmet side of Peru another taste. My favorite dish was the lomo saltado and the arepas (I think that's what they were). Tamales were big and delicious and the sauces were amazing. Quiet at 6pm on a Thursday. I visited with my wife, granddaughter, & son-in-law. Very friendly staff. Appetizers of Anticuchos de pollo & de carne. Both were very tasty and I'm fairly sure I've never had such a small skewer of chicken thats been so moist in my life. Saltado de pollo, The chicken was very moist, onions just a tad cooked so still crunchy and just plain french fries.The sauce was the star here and it tied everything together very well. Carapulcra con chuleta. After the tenderness of the appetizer, I was somewhat disappointed with the pork chop, but the flavoring was great. The potatoes, aji panca, yucca, and salsa criolla was the gravy with fresh slices of onion saved the dish. Tallarines verdes con asado. Very, very nicely done with strong herb seasoning that shined. We had the ceviche for an app. Very fresh, mixed seafood dish. I had the Pescado a Lo Macho for an entree which was a nice piece of salmon with shrimp, scallop, clam and calamari in a nice purée. Lima Taverna is our go-to date spot! I lived in Peru for a year after college, so even though I'm not Peruvian, I like to think I know authentic from not, and this is the best I've found here in the Dallas area! I love too that the owner is almost always there and so intentional about getting to know their clients. We recently had a party of 12 on a Saturday night for their live music to celebrate my birthday, and LT went above and beyond treating us well and making me feel celebrated indeed. Maybe I'm an outlier but I didn't get the vibe that most other reviewers did. Service started slow at 5:45. We waited 10 minutes at least for a waitress after the menus were presented. We ordered a glass of wine and iced tea. The wine was fine. The tea, served in a canning jar, which was not a problem, was weak. It was pale, almost as if they made five gallons of it using two teabags. We shared an Empanada and it was great. Tasty, spicy, great dip, and we said next time we'd order one for each of us. Even at $6 if was a good deal. Our mains were the Pescado al Macho (Salmon with shrimp (2 good size), mussels (2 medium) and calamari (4 rings) in a tasty broth. Shortly after it was delivered came the white rice. Needless to say it was necessary to spoon some of the broth over the rice as white rice is bland. My wife had the Arroz con Pollo. This was just not good. The rice had little taste and the chicken was not tender, nor tasty. Very disappointing for $16. As for the Salmon, it was OK, but nothing to brag about and not very filling. The dish, for $23 just seemed underwhelming. My wife, even though the tea was weak, it was better than water, ordered a refill. The bill came to$63 with tax. Incredible as it may seem to most, and us, where in Dallas area Iced Tea means free refills, we were charge $2.50 for each glass. That was $5 for two very weak teas. Service was just OK. Slow to start, then average. We just weren't impressed and won't be coming back, even for the Empanadas read more

I am currently at Lima as we speak for dinner. We ate lunch here earlier. Eliseo, the owner, is such a warm and welcoming guy. He made sure that everything was perfect, explained the menu, and we stayed till around 2:30pm just chatting with friends. The place was slow but it is much livlier now. They have DJs in the evening playing some blended Latin music. We came back because everything on the menu is compelling. For lunch I had the Aji de Gallina...it was delicious! The food at this place was decent. However, it was overpriced with hidden dishonest fees and small portions. The waitress did not mention that they would charge an extra $1.50 for bread and charged higher prices than what was on the menu.
