I can't believe we didn't take ANY PICTURES! The experience was so cool and our phones were in our dry bags so we didn't event think about it. The food was amazing. The Rum Rib tacos were the talk of our group. Caribbean Jerk Chicken and Shrimp tacos were also great. We can had the Coco Colada for a drink. Go during Happy Hour to get buy 1 get 1 free. Also during happy hour the boat taxi was a bit cheaper. Water depth was about 5' deep and enjoyed floating most of the time because I was getting a little sea sick on the stools and lily pads. This place was so flippin' cool... but absolutely terrifying for a less-than-confident swimmer to reach. We were taken out on the shuttle and told we'd need to swim the final 10 yards or so. As someone who didn't exactly grow up in the water, that was easier said than done. I even had a floatie for assistance, but it didn't inspire much confidence. It was the longest two minutes of my life. To make matters even more exciting, the water was pretty choppy that day. To be clear, this is completely a "me" problem and not a reflection of the establishment at all. I just hope that one day there's an easier option for land-loving odd ducks like myself to enjoy the experience without convincing ourselves we're about to become part of a maritime rescue operation. Once we made it, though, it was absolutely worth it. We ordered a couple of margaritas that were fresh, strong, and delicious. I had the Spiced Tuna Taco and my wife ordered the Shrimp Taco. We absolutely inhaled them. I would've happily ordered several more rounds if I hadn't been mentally preparing for the swim back to the shuttle. The vibe was fun, energetic, and laid-back. Being from St. Louis, it was a happy coincidence that they were playing Nelly and Chingy all afternoon, which made me feel oddly at home. I was worried the tacos wouldn't be good and people go for the floating restaurant experience, but this place was amazing! We got a bunch of different tacos to try, but I would say the two short ribs were definitely my favorites (although they were all good and I would happily eat again). The tacos were large so we were able to do two per person as a meal and felt pretty good. They are pricy by way of tacos, but it is well worth it for the experience and the flavor of the food. We took a charter out to the restaurant which I recommend doing, and shared a lily pad with another family (they are first come first served). It's the experience that you go for, though everyone does rave about the tacos. Are they the best one will get in island? Defo not. And there isn't appeal to trying to balance on a float and hold a taco with wet hands. But, you go for the unique fun of it and of course all the 'gram photo op cred you can get! Pro tip - when swimming over to the lily pads note there are several pipes from the seating and structure itself and ropes underfoot/under chest level in the water that you WILL get caught on if you aren't careful and they WILL leave a mark. read more

A floating taco bar, people. What more could you ask for? My wife and I loved this place. We took the Salt + Lime Express out there and spent about two hours drinking and eating. The margarita and the whiskey & soursop drink were excellent and huge. They come in sippy cups so you don't spill. It was also happy hour, so they were BOGO. My wife had the cucumber soda mocktail (also BOGO) and it was tasty. Cara was an awesome server. She looked like she was having fun, always smiling and joking around with customers. To be fair, everyone seemed like they were having fun. You're in the middle of Coral Bay, floating around drinking and eating so makes sense. We loved sitting on the lily pads and having drinks and tacos floated over to us. It was a little choppy so we got knocked around a touch but nothing jarring. My wife had the short rib and a special beef taco, and she loved them both. She said they were the best tacos she had on STT or STJ. I had the vegan taco, which was deliciously messy, and the spiced tuna, which was excellent. One tiny criticism -- and tbc, I don't know if it's Lime Out's doing -- but $30 a person seems like a LOT for a ride out there. It takes only five minutes at really slow speeds. There doesn't appear to be any free market, either. Whether you had to swim from your boat or got dropped off at the lily pads, it was $30. Ten people on your boat or two, $30. Nice pontoon boat or dinghy or rickety raft that barely looks seaworthy, $30. So, for two, your tab is starting at $60. It seems a little exorbitant. Ultimately, it's worth it for the experience, but a cheaper way out there would be nice. read more

The bean, short rib and jerk chicken were the best- ordered more of those after finishing. The tuna and the shrimp ones weren't favs. We bought like 300 in gear quite easily, a couple things for each person, party of 4. Wild! But cool to have. Salt & Lime that took us out was cool. Capt Dustin was friendly and helpful. The whole experience is super pricey but we thought of it as "an excursion" on our vacation. Watch your kids fingers rinsing them in the water while eating. The fish are small but they're looking for food as soon as your tacos arrive. Our little one got bit! Haha. Crazy. That was probably the scream heard round the world. She has been showing everyone her battle wound since. We went first thing in the morning (10:15am shuttle) and it was lowkey and not party style yet. I think that's the time to go with families. I will note that it was a very calm sunny day and the rafts still wiggle alllll over the place, the wind comes in from that direction and the boats create a little wake. This place one of the coolest places I've been to. Having tacos in a floating "lily pad" this is unforgettable. The fish are right beneath you. My one complaint about this style of serving is how they give you your food. They put all the tacos of the same kind in the same container so you all have to sort through to figure out which is yours. We then had to meet up with captain Jonnycakes In order to hop in his boat and head over to this over water restaurant. On our first full day on St John we headed to Lime Out today on a boat tour with Alex at Love City Tours. My biggest regret of the day was not ordering more tacos!!!! I'll had the short rib and shrimp tacos and they were AMAZING. Yes the are a bit pricey for the street taco size, but basically everything is an import on the island so that's to be expected. Not to mention, you get what you pay for and in my opinion they use high quality ingredients. I love the concept of this floating taco bar. We parked our boat and had the opportunity to swim while waiting for our food. We waited about a half hour for the food to be brought to our boat, but the time flew quickly! If you're on the fence about going while visiting, take my word for it and include this in your itinerary (be mindful that it's only accessible by boat)! Clear water, cocktails, and tacos? Definitely a tourist trap, but if you're a tourist, go ahead and get trapped - you're on vacation! This is just something fun to do. We took the Salt and Lime Express out to the restaurant. It's no more than a 5 minute ride. Once you get there, they give you a flotation belt and you swim out to the floating restaurant. My family swam the fastest, so we landed one of the lily pads. We ordered a bunch of different tacos. They were all good. They all were thoughtfully created and were a step above a standard taco. My favorite was the shrimp taco. Drinks were also tasty. It helped that they were served in Yeti cups, which kept them cold. A few tips - pace yourself. If you take one of the boats, you'll be there for 2 hours. Don't order everything at once. Order a few tacos and some drinks. Then take a break and order a second round if you want. You'll have time. Also, pay attention to your bill. When you arrive, you give them your credit card and name. As we were sitting there, we happened to overhear someone being served tacos under our name. Sure enough, we were billed for their tacos. This place is expensive enough without paying for other people's tacos. Finally, they don't serve anything but tacos and drinks. No apps, no desserts, nothing. If you are looking for anything else, they won't have it. Personally, I think most customers would appreciate adding a few apps like guacamole and chips and maybe a dessert or two to the menu. read more
