A musician was preparing for open mike night (Tuesday 530- 830ish) but we ate and left (didn't want to drive up into Bordeaux Mtn in the dark!). The "Toni" pizza was excellent. Sorry, no pictures.... it had fresh basil pesto and the tomato sauce drizzled around it, cheese was melted into the crust with riccata spread around. Fantastic thin crispy crust. I'll start with the good: the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere is genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. I'm an open-minded eater who travels a lot and will happily try almost anything--but even I met my match here. I ordered the jerk chicken plate with slaw and mac n cheese. The chicken was dry, but honestly the best part of the meal, which is saying something. The mac n cheese looked and tasted like it had been abandoned hours (or days?) ago--curdled, cold, and topped with a crust that could double as a roofing material. The slaw? One bite was all I could manage - a first in my 35 years on earth. A friend described it as "looks like slaw, tastes like a plastic bag," and I wish I could disagree. My partner's chicken salad sandwich didn't fare better. The bun was burned so black it looked like it had been broiled by the Caribbean sun itself, and the chicken salad had a sour tang that overpowered everything else. My friends shared the brisket plate; the brisket was good (truly!), but the sides were a continuation of the theme: barely edible at best. We ended up at a grocery store afterward, scavenging crackers and cookies to survive the night--never a great sign after paying Virgin Island prices for dinner. For what it's worth, the restaurant next door, Surf Club Cantina, was excellent. Do yourself a favor: eat there, and steer clear of Johnny Lime. read more

I ordered the yucca fries and a cheese pizza. The picked onions and dipping sauce paired beautifully with the hot crispy fries. I had to stop myself from eating them to save room for the pizza, which was incredible. They use a sourdough crust and Stanislaus tomatoes. The crust was the perfect combination of crispy and chewy and the sauce was every bit as bright and well balanced as San Marzano tomatoes with the perfect amount of cheese. The owners and staff were warm & friendly. My only regret is that I found this place on my last day on the island. read more

We ordered takeout around 4p in the afternoon: meat platter (jerk chicken - a WHOLE chicken, à la carte pulled pork; for sides we picked bok choy and potatoes salad). Chicken is cooked to the bone so meat fell off easily with a smoky taste. My favorite was the bok choy. Even their bbq sauce is uniquely fruity fresh. Seven of my family ate there December 26, 2025...three of us had terrible diarrhea and stomach cramps the next day, lasting three days, after eating the pulled pork sandwich. The beef ribs were just okay (not what expected, a little dry and cut off the bone), but the brisket is a standout, super tender, and just the right amount of smoke. Our VRBO had no power and Johnny Lime is one of a few places in Coral Bay with a generator so they were open and we were down to find a cool spot for dinner and Johnny Lime does not disappoint. The second time we ordered takeaway because we were leaving the next day and had to pack up the place we were staying and we wanted an easy night in. I first tried Johnny Lime two years ago, and it was horrible. I decided to give it another try and was surprised to find that it was even worse. My shaved ribeye arepa looked like they had used it to clean the floors. The meat had been cut days before, and the arepa was dripping grease. I understand a bit of oil to grill the bread, but this was disgustingly soaked. A friend had the chicken thigh, and it looked like he had ordered a chicharrón plate. The sides of grey rice and dirty pickled vegetables didn't help. Another friend had ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Another disaster. She declared it inedible. I cannot believe that the owners, having several food operations , allow this level of incompetence to continue. Bad news, Johnny Lime, you suck. read more

High quality, wholesome, BBQ with a few vegetarian options. The latter options were the Mac and Cheese, Smoked Butternut Squash, Salad, and Rice and Beans - each well portioned and priced. The smoked meats were just out of this world. The brisket moist and tender, the chicken well flavored. It's a street-side joint with outdoor seating - with sufficient cover to find a shaded spot. This place is a God send! We ate there three times during our stay in Coral Bay! Two times for take out and once for sit down. As a result, I've tried everything on the menu and it's fantastic. My recommendation is get one of the sandwiches and you can combo it with two sides. There are usually about 10 sides to choose from and the quality is as good as the mains. Forget the other places in the area which only serve stale chips, a ten dollar lettuce and olive oil salad, or charge you an extra 15% for takeout?? Not Johnny Lime!! The menu is solid with BBQ chicken, pork, mahi, and ribs, plus a spin on your traditional sides -- long beans (foot long green beans!), smoked squash, okra, rice n beans, slaw, etc. We tried the pulled pork sandwich, mahi sandwich, long beans and smoked squash. Everything was so delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by the mix of BBQ sauces including a sweet guava, tamarind, and hot coconut/mango/carrot sauce which was personally my favorite. I would put that sauce on everything if I could!! The service was excellent and we enjoyed meeting the chef Miguel who was very kind and explained the connection among all the Lime restaurants. John Lime has a great Ambience and atmosphere. Unfortunately our party of seven found that the food is just average. The ribs that we had were good. The BBQ sauces were just fair. This was a walk up outdoor picnic table experience. It might have been fun, but we were being eaten by the mosquitoes so badly we couldn't enjoy the atmosphere. There was music and games. The food was ok. The brisket was delicious. The smoked lobster had so much jerk seasoning that it overwhelmed the lobster. The sides were near inedible. I heard so many wonderful things that I really wanted to try it and like it. Sadly it wasn't for me. The staff was super friendly. I'll give it another try next time I'm in the island. Im not even a huge BBQ fan, but we had such delicious food here. The pork ribs were super tender and easily fell off the bone. 3 BBQ sauce choices on the tables. My favorite was the sweet guava. The corn bread side was seriously some of the best I've ever had. Skillet made, moist inside, crispy outside, with just a tiny bit of heat. Mac & cheese side was also good, a little runny but still good flavor. You order right at the counter, it wasn't too busy in a Friday night. Very friendly owners. Casual outdoor eating and drinking at picnic tables, some under an awning and some out on the gravel patio with individual umbrellas. We started with a couple of cocktails, and I enjoyed my ginger sour. We had smoked pumpkin as a spicy appetizer and it was unique. Slow roasted brisket was really tasty, moist and almost fell apart just with a fork. I tried it with guava BBQ sauce and another tasty one I can't remember now, but they were both delicious. Long beans and rice and beans rounded out my choice of sides. My wife had the green salad with tamarind dressing, made from local micro greens. I stole some of her grilled okra, which I loved. A generous pour of white wine and a local draft IPA rounded out the meal. It was Saturday night, and a local family band provided fun entertainment. The young brother and sister had surprisingly good voices, and were good on the drums and keyboard. No room for dessert! Things were hopping by 6:30 pm. read more
