Great portions, the roti was really good . The Hainese Chicken had some dry pieces. The service was awesome. The place is airy and modern. It is very convenient and close to public transportation.

    Beef Rendang ($16.98), delicious

In another lifetime I dined at Lime Tree, solo and at lunch. What I had didn't wow me and I never reviewed the place but even then I knew the reason. This place is best enjoyed when you can try a number of menu items. So on this visit, with a party of three I sampled Roti Pratha ($8.23), Beef Rendang ($16.98), Gado Gado ($12.86), and Singaporean Curry Noodle with (shredded) Chicken ($12.86) and now I feel qualified to render an official opinion: Good stuff made even better by the fact that Southeast Asian cuisine is not commonly found in San Francisco. Roti Pratha was served first, piping hot along with a delicious curry dipping sauce. Beef Rendang appeared next, equally good. Our whole table loved Gado Gado which arrived fully mixed as opposed to the self-assembly I've encountered previously with this dish. The Curry Noodle Chicken came out last, flavor-enhanced by a self-applied squeeze of fresh lime. This last dish was good but my least favored of the lot mainly because I could barely find an inkling of chicken. Lime Tree is very casual and dishes seem to come out not at once, perhaps not even in a logical order. This affected my enjoyment not at all. By the time I left - at barely 6:30pm - every table was filled. This place was on everybody's radar long ago but it's clear nobody's forgotten. Good, unique food at reasonable prices. In my future, a return visit will come around much sooner.

8/22/25 FYI. Lime Tree Ginger Rice, Pepe's Salmon & Char Kway Teow

Quality/Quantity - Glad we were able to stop by today. I have been meaning to come by for a while. Due to it being a travel day today, we did not arrive until approximately 1pm, an hour before they close. But the best news was that we were the only customers, so we had the best service. It was also good to see the owner here and to catch up with him. Not that I expect him to remember us/me. Today we got the following: Martabak - Wanted something different than our usual roti. It was good, but next time I will go back to my usual roti. Pepe's Salmon - Chef's suggestion. I was worried when it came. So small. But the flavors were amazing! Cooked and seasoned to perfection. The salmon melted in our mouths. I scraped the leftover sauce and put on my ginger rice. My wife thought I was crazy as if I have not eaten in a week. Actually, if you are following, I have only been eating salads and fruit for the last few weeks, so I guess I was hungry, lol. Char Kway Teow - Their version of the Chinese chow fun flat pan fried noodles. This was good, but barely enough for one person. Again, we are light eaters. Complimentary Tree Lime Ginger Rice - OMG, what flavors?!?! So good. Our guest, who loves ginger, did not care for this, which surprised us. So I took the generous left overs home. Keep in mind that we are light eaters and if it was not for the rice, we might have left hungry... At minimum, there would have been NO left overs. So know you are paying for quality and not quantity. Atmosphere - Very small restaurant. Indoor table and counter seating. Metered street parking, but if you are lucky, you can find a free residential parking space a few blocks away. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8pm, closed Mondays. Service - 6 stars. So welcoming. Both from the long term chef (11+ years) to the owner. Great suggestive selling. Professional, polite, etc! Price - $100 - This includes a few to-go dishes for the people we will be visiting next - Sambal Okra and Singaporean Curry Noodle. See pictures. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location for the last 11+ years and your other location for 19+ years. We have been customers for the last 11+ years.

    Mie Tek-Tek (vegetarian)

We were craving Malaysian food near Presidio and came across this cute place with ample amount of seating inside. The waitress was super nice and accommodating, and made sure that we were taken care of. They seem to have a slight variety than authentic Indonesian options, but were able to easily accommodate vegetarian by substituting meat and meat broth with tofu/broccoli. The portion sizes of the food were great for SF! We got share everything family style. 4/5 Roti Paratha was pretty good and flaky, though I think at other places it is definitely thinner. The curry was a bit watered down too, but had a nice coconut flavor it it that paired well. 4/5 Mie Tek Tek was soupy and very comforting. Apparently back at home they don't make it soupy but here they do, and I would say that it surprisingly works. I just would have wished for a bit more flavor, but loved the noodles. 4.5/5 Sambal Okra was really nice, and the sauce was sweet and sour and worked. I felt like it paired better with rice but can be good on its own too. 4/5 Mie Goreng was unlike what I have had at other places before, but the flavor was solid. I would say it's kind of like a better version than chowmein with more flavors going along, but it does come with egg and the tofu was the soft kind. Overall glad to have stumbled upon this place and tried something new in the area! Definitely worth visiting again

I've had this place bookmarked for a while and finally had the chance to visit today. We arrived at 2 PM on a Saturday, and it was completely empty--understandable for a late lunch hour. The server was very friendly and let us choose any table we wanted. The interior was clean and simple. My husband was craving curry, so I let him pick the dishes. The food arrived fairly quickly. * Chicken Curry: This was the first to arrive, but unfortunately, it was a miss for me. The chicken was quite dry, and I'd rate it 2/5. * Lime Tree Ginger Rice: I was expecting a small bowl of rice but was surprised when a soup-sized bowl arrived. The rice was the highlight of the meal for me. 4/5 stars. * Laksa: The presentation was appealing, especially with the large prawns on top. While the prawns were good, the broth was underwhelming. This dish earns 3/5 stars. * Chicken Satay: This came toward the end of the meal, and we'd honestly forgotten we ordered it. The satay had a strong sweet note that felt off--not quite teriyaki-sweet, but still unusual. I'd give it 3/5 stars. Overall, it was an okay meal. Both servers were friendly and courteous, which we appreciated. I'm glad we tried it, but it's a 3/5 experience for me.

Had lunch last weekend and this restaurant was a treat. So many interesting sounding dishes I can't wait to go back to try more things., offerings from several Southeastern countries. We started with the Roti Pratha which arrived steaming hot with a wonderful curry dipping sauce. That alone was worth the visit. We also had baked salmon that was cooked in a banana leaf. The salmon was coated with delicious spices. The tofu dish was also delicious and the Jazmin rice was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent and the ingredients were fresh and delicious.

This place is a good casual spot for generous southeast Asian dishes. The standout dish was definitely the okra. For reference, I tried another okra dish elsewhere that wasn't nearly cooked nearly as well! Everything was awesome including the very friendly server and cook. The interior is pretty unassuming, super causal, regardless I would definitely go back! Highly recommend.

This is second time that my mom and I visited this restaurant. We went to Irving location but they didn't have Gado-Gado. So we must come here to try. We were really happy with this dish. Laksa is one of our favorite too. I loved the broth which warmed me up in the cold weather well. Ang was our waiter. He was so friendly and nice. My chicken wings were so so for me. Nothing special for that. I will not order that again but I really want to try their crab for the next time. I also loved their ginger rice too.

Lime Tree is my favorite restaurant if I'm craving Asian flavor. The best hospitality and even tastier food. I love the silver noodles with chicken. The roti is amazing!!!!! Can't go wrong with their salmon! The string beans and okra are so delicious as well! A bit spicy but it has a good kick. If you're into that. If I could rate the service and ownership of Lime Tree, it's 110%! Aung was super vigilant especially since I drink fountains of water whenever I dine out. The ambiance is relaxing and well-lit for any occasion. We've celebrated a party of 16 here and I've dined in with my family and friends separately as well. BEST experience EVER!!!

This place is great for groups and families. I loved all the appetizers, especially the roti with curry sauce and corn fritters! Super friendly staff and they have another location on Clement that I will definitely be trying soon.

Let's start with service - to me that's a big part of the dining experience. We met Aung who is so very nice, engaging attentive and informative of their offered dishes. I was torn between a couple of their selections, and Aung was nice enough to take the time to see what my palate was craving. I opted for the Hainan Chicken and was pleased with my selection. This entree is a nice portion and definitely shareable with two accompanying sauces. I was also in love with the Sambal Okra and Green Bean dish and I have to say, their sambal is one of the very best I've ever tried. The Roti and Pratha was delicious as well. The roti nice and light and not oily and pratha was very flavorful. I'm looking forward to my return visits to try their other selections!

Rice is perfectly cooked, good amount of chicken flavor and texture wise. Solid ginger scallion sauce. Red sauce is a sweet and spicy type of flavor, offering a well balanced side of dips. Chicken was poached pretty well, white pieces were still decently moist. Had to try the laksa because I couldn't find another restaurant in SF that made it. Apparently it's not supposedly made with vermicelli but I wouldn't know if it was authentic or not. However this still hits the spot tho! Nice soft noodles along with a creamy coconut flavor. Bean sprouts add a hint of freshness. Both dishes were delicious for a quick snack or something for the road. Something bout the nostalgia from getting it from my Chinese restaurants hit different, I could be bias but like I said, not bad and I wouldn't mind coming back, just not my first choice for hainan chicken. Ps. Don't go to rooster n rice lol, Thai kmg just don't hit like hainan chicken.

We ordered the Papaya Salad, Veg Spring Rolls, House Favorite Yellow Curry, Eggplant Basil, Pad Kee Mao, and White Rice. The Papaya Salad was a bit disappointing. It was overly sour and tasted more citrusy than fresh and lime-forward. The Veg Spring Rolls were fine, but nothing particularly memorable. The biggest letdown was the Yellow Curry. It lacked the rich flavor I typically expect from a Thai curry, and some of the vegetables seemed undercooked. The Eggplant Basil was also underwhelming. It lacked the distinct basil flavor that the dish is known for. Since we ordered the vegetarian version, it came loaded with a mix of other vegetables, which made it feel more like a generic vegetable stir-fry than an eggplant basil dish. The Pad Kee Mao was the standout of the meal. It had good flavor and was enjoyable, although the portion size felt a bit small for the price. Overall, the food was ok, but nothing really stood out. I've had better Thai food elsewhere, both in terms of flavor and value. While the experience wasn't bad, it wasn't memorable enough to make me want to return. For the price point, I expected more authentic flavors and better execution.

If you're looking for a calm, relaxing place to eat, I wouldn't say this is the place. It's sort of an "in and out" situation. I ordered the spicy G.K.O. So so delicious. One of the standout appetizers was the spicy enoki chips. They were packed with flavor while still feeling light and crispy. Fair warning--they definitely bring some heat! I love spicy food, and while the spice didn't linger much on my tongue, it definitely had my nose running a bit. My husband ordered the GKO ramen bowl, and it was absolutely loaded with flavor. The garlic-forward broth was rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. It does get a little heavy toward the end, and you'll probably leave with garlic breath--but it's 100% worth it. I ordered the Spicy Signature Toripaitan ramen, and we were both glad I did. Despite the name, it's not particularly spicy, which was perfectly fine with me. The broth was creamy, flavorful, and comforting without being as rich as the GKO. The duck chashu was incredibly tender, and the oyster mushrooms added a wonderful chewy texture that balanced the bowl beautifully. Add the enoki chips to the broth, you won't regret it! Service was great. We were checked in on frequently and always had a refill when needed which was definitely needed when we ate the enoki chips. At least for my husband anyway. Overall, we absolutely loved the ramen here. Every dish was flavorful, filling, and thoughtfully prepared. We left happy, full, and already looking forward to our next visit.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. All she could do was have a tiny spoon of the broth to taste it. The green onion pancake was very good. The red bean paste pockets use the same dough but filled with sweet red bean paste. They were a perfect way to end the meal. Next time I'm in the city I will visit again. Loved it all. It was worth taking the time to visit and eat there.

Menu is relatively the same as Dumpling Home featuring my faves like the numb and spicy XLB and the sheng jian bao. Both very delicious! The remainder of the dishes we got were also good. I will say the green beans left me wanting a bit more from it. But overall, my party had a nice, fulfilling meal. Dumpling Home will always be my favorite (still prefer it a TINY bit), but because there is less of a crowd, service was amazing! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back considering there the difference in wait time to Dumpling Home.

If you're not able to squeeze into the first wave, the wait is upwards of 2 hours! FOOD: We ordered one galbi jim with extra noodles and rice cakes and a separate garlic noodles for a party of 5. While we initially thought we could finish two galbi jims, our server cautioned us against it, referencing the healthy portion size. We were glad we took her advice because everyone was stuffed by the end of our meal. Their galbi jim was flavorful, with extremely tender beef and chewy rice cakes. We ordered the lowest level of spiciness and while there was still a kick, it was extremely manageable. SERVICE: We were the first to be seated and our galbi jim took almost 20 minutes to come out while others waited even longer. However, they comped our garlic noodles and apologized for turning waits. Overall, I'd definitely return if I'm able to get into the first wave of seating.

Typically what I saw was they do waves of seating and ordering so if you aren't there right at open/when they fill up, plan to write your name down and grab a drink nearby. Once we got seated, they were pretty prompt to give us utensils, napkins, cups, and water. The two of us shared the Braise Beef Galbi Stew. It's more than enough for 2 people to go home in food comas (with some food remaining) and for 3 to be sufficiently full. If you have big eaters, order an app alongside if you have 3 people. The Galbi stew was exceptional. I liked that they had various levels of spiciness. We went with spicy and it had a nice kick that elevated the dish for me. The beef was very tender and flavorful and the veggies and rice cakes soaked up all the juices. And the cheese was so stretchy! I'd actually rank this place slightly above Daeho given the shorter wait, the quality, and the price. I'll be back for sure.
