Finally some decent BBQ in Delaware! We're from the south and the food here rivals anything we've had back home. In fact, the brisket is the best I've ever tasted! I see that other reviewers have complained about the "cafeteria style" service, but that's how it's done in plenty of great BBQ places down south. I don't mind this at all and enjoy seeing the different meats carved and served to each diner. I also like being able to see all the delicious sides before making my choices (I highly recommend the beans and white cheddar mac & cheese!). My only complaint is the plastic cutlery--not a fan of the single-use plastic and a good meal should be eaten with real flatware. read more

Took the wife out for Date Night last night and we tried this place. We entered, the ambiance was incredible! Old fashioned and rustic was the layout and design. Our server, WING, was phenomenal! She was very attentive, engaging, and helpful. I ordered the Brisket, 4-Bone Ribs, and Collard Greens, while my wife ordered the Turkey Wings, 4-Bone Ribs, and Brussel Sprouts. The Brisket was incredibly tender! It was so tender that you could cut it with a plastic fork. The Ribs and Turkey Wings pleased our palates, as well as our vegetables. Midway through our meal, the Manager, John came out to check on us. What an awesome experience. so this place was a consistent 4 on yelp and google but i stand by my rating. you know a how good a bbq place is not just by their meats but also by their sides. if they'll invest the energy and time into their sides you know the meat will be good brussel sprouts were stellar - i wished they were roasted slightly more but it was the least greasy roasted sprouts I've ever had. loved them mac and cheese was nearly perfect. they were the perfect level of creamy and the crust parts they included were STELLAR. i would go back for this place homemade coleslaw was superb as well. great way to get some roughage. ribs were superb. i wish they didn't include the end which was mostly bone but still stellar and tender. nearly falls off the bone with the slightest help. i think you get 6-7 bones. this place was a great surprise. read more

We stopped in for takeout during the pandemic, and we are very glad we did! The takeout counter was set up for safe distancing and the staff were taking proper precautions. Love going here. I have intolerances to beef and pork and they are always excellent about changing their gloves and getting a new cutting board and knife to cut the chicken or turkey for me. If it is busy they will still do it but I always order their chicken salad if it is busy to make it easy for them even though they will do accommodate me. Let me just say if I'm ordering chicken salad it must be amazing because I don't like mayonnaise. But the chicken is smoked and it isn't drenched in mayo. I see everyone is mentioning cafeteria style... I don't think that's the style I would refer to this service technique as. It's a Texas Line that you walk in order to have your meats sliced freshly in front of your eyes. Here's a tip: Do it the American way; grab a beer or cocktail before you get in line for your food. This makes the experience much more fun. Talk to the person next to you in line and tailgate together. I mean... doesn't a drink make every experience a bit better? We dined here last night for the first time. We very much enjoyed the food! Nice, casual atmosphere. Lots of food at a very reasonable price. We had the pimento cheese dip appetizer....the cheese itself was very good but the bbq tortilla chips were very greasy and salty. We brought the dip home and have been enjoying it with crackers instead. For our entrees, we shared pulled pork, smoked turkey, ribs and brisket. I tried all the various sauces they offered and the Carolina sauce was my favorite. Each meal came with a side of pickled veggies that were really good. Our sides were macaroni and cheese and Brussels sprouts. All were very tasty and seasoned well. We especially enjoyed the macaroni and cheese...so creamy and good! My fiancé had an apple cider drink that was on their drink menu and it was delicious! I was very excited to see they have banana pudding for dessert so we ordered it to go. It was just ok. Not bad by a long shot but I probably wouldn't order it again. We arrived around 4:30...not many patrons at that time but it quickly filled up. We would have liked to order more drinks and enjoy the live music that was setting up on the stage but our server was very busy and service really slowed as she was very was dealing with the influx of other patrons, Overall, I really liked it here. We're in from out of town and my husband chooses this place for a delicious bbq dinner to celebrate Fathers Day. So I call to ask if I need a reservation and the woman who answers says it's first come first served and the sooner we get there the better because it's their busiest night of the year. Makes sense, so we high tail it over there (25 minutes away) and arrive around 6pm. Atmosphere is loud but fine. We're excited about the meal and looking forward to it. It takes a while for our waitress to come to our table. The restaurant wasn't packed and there was no wait so not sure why she took so long. Anyway she comes to our table to take our order and right away she tells us all the things they are out of...brisket, smoked turkey, corn bread, brioche buns for the sandwiches...what?! Isn't this place a bbq place and according to the woman in the phone earlier this is their busiest night! So why are they not prepared? Anyway, we shift our order which really bothered me but okay, we're here so we'll order whatever they have available. I saw a huge bar and thought they must have some great beers available- I'm not a bourbon person- so I asked if they have a beer menu. She says in a frustrated response that she has asked them to print out a list but "they" haven't ever done it. She says they have all the basic beers and IPAs. Her response turned me off, especially after having listed all the menu items they don't have, so I just kept with the water. My son and husband had the ribs, pulled pork, smoked kielbasa, collard greens. I had the pulled pork and potatoes. Meat was good. Collard greens not so much, they had a sour taste and too many onions. The potatoes were good but nothing special. After the meal, my son was excited to order the funnel cake with Oreos and chocolate sauce. When he ordered the waitress says, "funnel cake? We haven't had funnel cake in months. Our fryer broke and never fixed." Again....What?!?! Who keeps something on their menu that they haven't been able to make in months? Oh, and their busiest night of the year....had many available tables throughout our meal and also when we were leaving. In my opinion the owners did not plan enough food and don't really care about disappointing their patrons. Terrible experience. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! Bourbon selection is better than most places around but you won't find anything you can't pick up in a local liquor store. Pricey side as well. No draft beer, just cans and didn't look like that great of a selection. No TVs, good for groups I suppose but rolling in there alone is pretty boring when there's no TVs. So don't go there thinking you'll be able to catch a game. Overall BBQ is worth the stop, but I'll probably take mine to go next time. read more

Don't know why I keep trying BBQ in the north. Guess if you have no options for the people around it would be fine. For someone that knows BBQ in the south, it's a total miss. One think the northern BBQ gets wrong. Just because you spent 14 hrs smoking something does not mean you charge for every hour. I mean you put it in a smoker and don't touch it for hours. We ordered three meats and two sides. Sausage was underwhelming. Tasted like something you could buy at a store. Brisket was dry. Pulled pork was fine but this place doesn't even give you a slice of bread. Would have been great to make a little sandwich or something. Now I'm used to good meat and three joints or places where the meat alone steals the show. But almost all throw a handful of white bread on your plate. Tried this spot tonight for dinner and really happy I did. I wanted to try something new and BBQ was sounding good in particular. I went with my husband and 6 year old son. My son asked if he could get a happy meal and eat it on the way, I told him if he didn't like the food we'd get a happy meal after. We didn't go to McDonald's :) we ordered the "philthy feast" for $65 including all the meats and 5 sides of our choosing. We had the beans, potatoes, potato salad, cucumber & tomato salad & macaroni and cheese. All of the sides were sooo good. Next time I would maybe do just one potato but the flavors were all amazing. My son ate a ton of pulled pork & brisket. I did as well. I'm not usually a rib eater but these were so tender and delicious. I didn't try the chicken but all of the other meats were amazing. I love the brisket most of all. I tried all but the really hot BBQ sauces and loved them all. Not overly thick or sweet. The white sauce is unique and great with the brisket. Good solid BBQ spot with a bar that specializes in bourbon at the bar. Typical BbQ options: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, etc. Meat has been good quality and well prepared. Sides are a little hit or miss, but realistically, I'm not there for the sides. According to spirit drinking boyfriend, the bar has an excellent selection. According to beer loving me, the beer selection is on the slim side. Decor is a little kitchy, but if you didn't know you're in a strip mall in Delaware, you would think you're in an old BBQ joint. I'll summarize with this: WOW. I heard bad things about this place initially (running out of food, mediocre food) initially so I wrote it off and never tried it. After getting a positive report from a trusted source my family of 5 tried their Philthy Feast ($60 on their site, but a jacked-up $70 on Grub Hub (damn crooks...)) that came with a generous 5 sides. A great way to sample all of their wonderful food! The food (literally everything) was FANTASTIC! Next to Chuck Lagers, currently one of my favorites. The sides we tried: 1. Brisket rice and beans - OMG! I could eat this every day 2. Truck Potato's - basically small potatoes. Nothing fancy, but a good side! 3. Slaw - nothing special, but you'll want the "cool" when eating everything else! 4. Potato Salad - a very personal dish. For me, just OK, but don't get me wrong, it was not bad. 5. Rancher beans - my mouth still is recovering from these! Very spicy but I LOVED THEM. My fiancée who also likes spicy didn't care for them, though, 6. White cheddar Mac&cheese. Very good, had to wrench it from my daughter for a sample. Enjoyed what I could steal.. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is I ordered their chili to have/try the next day for lunch and never got it. Looks like I got a 6th side instead of my Chili which upset me after spending over $100 for a dinner.. I will be back, and you should, too. Do yourself a favor and have a great meal for once! Limestone is a pretty straight forward bbq experience. There's a menu posted up on a billboard when you first walk in, and once you figure out what it is you want, you walk over to the counter and place your order. I ordered pulled pork, chilli, brussel sprouts. I also tried a little bit of the mac and cheese. The pulled pork and the chili is actually really similar, so don't get both of these like I did. The chili is essentially pulled pork thrown into a pot of chili, so the taste is very similar. That said, if you have to pick one, pick the chili, since it gives the pork a lot more flavor. The pulled pork is okay, but is a little on the dry side, so make sure you use some of the sauces provided. Brussel sprouts are excellent, as is the mac and cheese. You should also make sure to remember to ask for white bread if you aren't given any. I think they forgot to give me some, so I went back to the counter and asked. Seating is self serve, so there is no wait service here (thank god). You can serve yourself water from a canteen in the back, so it's all pretty convenient. The biggest problem here is that there is no hot sauce. Yes, there are multiple sauces served for the barbecued meats, but literally 0 of them are hot. When I asked a member of the staff if they had something a little hotter, they told me no. It was kind of disappointing that they didn't have any hot sauce, especially when the bbq sauces they laid out were actually not that great, and a little on the watery side. To be clear, they do serve this sauce called philthy hot sauce, but it's completely not spicy. I don't understand why they'd do this. The barbecue is good here, but the flavor is just not strong or distinct enough that these guys are able to get by on the meat's flavor alone- as such, they really need to consider upgrading their bbq sauce selection. read more

I went here last night for the first time and just got pulled pork by itself. It seems You get more pork than what's on the sandwich that way and it's so good! You don't even need sauce. The prices are normal for a barbecue joint. Not too high, not super inexpensive. Also their chili is so amazing. There's tons of meat in it and it is soooo delicious. Only $5. Everyone should try it! I did order a drink too the Tex something. It was a mixed drink which was tasty. $13. I've had BBQ in the Carolina's, Texas, Hotlanta, California, Kansas City, you name it. So, I've just about had it all. I gotta say, I was surprisingly impressed by the bbq at Limestone BBQ and Bourbon! My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday, we were seated right away, got our drink order (and food) in record time. We ordered the Bees Knees and Kentucky Mule (my typical go-to) and they were both excellent. We got the More Cowbell, the Low Bird (something, I can't remember) and an order of the pimento cheese dip and Mac n' cheese. Good lawd! The food was phenomenal. That pimento cheese dip with the seasoned chips, omfg... I would go back just for that! The brisket, the chicken salad, the smoked turkey.... all of it, excellent, well seasoned, great smoke and char on the brisket, I mean just all around fantastic. I don't know if I lucked out with on right off the smoker or if close to it because it was soooo juicy and didn't seem like a heat-lamp BBQ. Service was lacking despite us telling the waitress we had to be quick. We saw a bunch of people come in & out for the "to-go" line and it seemed liked we chose to grab food in a foam clamshell, we would have been served quicker.
