I had the pleasure of trying Limestone Bar & Grill in Mt. Vernon, and it exceeded every expectation. This is the kind of place that reminds you why small-town restaurants are so special. The moment I walked in, I loved the setup--bright, open dining areas with huge windows overlooking the hills. It has a relaxed, down-to-earth vibe but still feels clean, organized, and welcoming. Perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed. I ordered the chicken tenders with onion rings and green beans, and you can truly taste the homemade quality. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the onion rings were perfectly crispy, and the green beans had that classic Kentucky taste with bacon and onions. My dining partner got the BLT with homemade chips, and the portion was impressive--thick-cut bacon, fresh veggies, and crunchy chips that were obviously made in-house. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they do. If you're anywhere near Mt. Vernon or passing through on a trip, make time to stop here. It's one of those local spots where the food is great, the views are beautiful, and the service makes you want to come back again. Highly recommend!

Needed to stop and grab lunch. Did not want fast food. Started with a side salad. Iceberg lettuce was fresh & crispy, cherry tomatoes were nice. Croutons tasted homemade. Burger options looked great. I ordered a 1/4 lb Limestone burger and my husband had a 1/2 lb limestone burger. Buns were toasted, burger was served fresh & hot. Fries were hot & crispy. Not quite a 5Guys burger but much better than a fast food burger!! Our server was kind and made great recommendations.

Upon entering I was greeted and sat at a table with a nice view. Service here was friendly and accommodating, I ordered the lunch special and an unsweetened tea. The coleslaw was brought out and surprised me with how delicious and crisp it was. I don't usually like coleslaw, but I devoured this. The unsweetened tea was lacking, actually, it tastes of mold. Unfortunately, the taste didn't go away even when I ordered a sprite. However, the tenderloin sandwich was fried and tasty. I enjoyed the fries which were crispy and hot. The food is 5 but the drinks need some addressing, I'd suggest order something in a bottle.

Stopped for lunch today. Food was ok. Better than the fast food places around. It took a while to get our food. Ordered the blue cheese black and blue burger. It came with just meat and blue cheese dressing on it. It was just ok. Onion rings were homemade, crunchy and tasty. Another person in our group got the chopped steak. It was a large hamburger patty with mushrooms and gravy. He said it was good.

My BLT with barely any bacon.

This restaurant needs to hirer friendlier staff who provide better service and bus the tables. We waited more than 40 minutes for BLT sandwiches. Our unpleasant waitress kept saying they had a big party. But staff was sitting at a table up front not doing anything. No one bothered to bus the tables next to us that were dirty when we got there. Save yourself the frustration and get fast food. I'm giving one star because there isn't anything lower. The BLT sandwiches had less than a piece of bacon on them and no mayo. I am shocked that anyone recommends this restaurant.

Chicken Wings were hot and delicious!

Came here for dinner with some friends, and tried the hillbilly tacos. I love tacos. These tacos were very different from anything I had ever had, and I wasn't as crazy about them. They are made with cornbread cakes as the tortilla and topped with pulled pork, coleslaw, barbecue sauce. I didn't even attempt to pick them up, I just ate them with a fork, and didn't eat much of the cornbread cakes but I did eat the pulled pork and the coleslaw and the cornbread that was below the pulled pork. They were good, but not my favorite. Probably wouldn't get them again. We got an order of mild chicken wings for the table, and they were hot and delicious! Both of my friends had the grilled chicken with rice, and they both seem very happy with their choice and it looked good. Lots of parking, and great service.

We travel through Kentucky often on 75 and always try to stop here. Good home cooked food and good prices.

Catfish special -- really delicious and appreciated that it wasn't a cornmeal batter

We found another jewel as we travel thru Kentucky and Tennessee, the Limestone Grill. They have an extensive menu of home style favorites. We started with the cheesy cauliflower with chipotle ranch and it was delicious but a huge helping. We didn't do it justice. I decided on the chef salad and it didn't disappoint but again, huge portion. The hubby did the special which was catfish with peas (his favorite) and real mashed potatoes (I sampled and they were wonderfully buttery). We don't get south of Lexington often which is disappointing as there were several other items on the menu that I'd like to sample. I would be remiss not to give Rhonda a shout out. She took excellent care of us. I, highly, recommend a stop if you are in the area.

The patio was perfect - only complaint was old eyes had a hard time seeing the menu as it got dark outside. Service was great - our waitress was attentive and got our order in perfect, plus was able to split up the checks with no issue. Complimentary rolls were served after we ordered - they are sweet rolls but nothing like Texas Roadhouse. Let's just say I was okay after one roll. I ordered the chicken pesto with baked potato and my daughter ordered the chicken wrap with fries. Everyone else at the table ordered steaks. The chicken was a little tough and overcooked, and the baked potato was very good. Tables outside were a bit wobbly so the table rocked while I cut into my chicken. My daughter liked her fries and chicken wrap. Overall it was a solid meal, but don't think we'll be back.

Of course, you can never go wrong with their Cactus Blossom onion for an appetizer! My 'go-to' steak order is their 12 ounce New York Strip (medium rare), baked potato, and a salad. Another one of my comfort-food favorites is their Country Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. My wife loves their "Road Kill" (chopped steak) or their herb crusted chicken. The grilled lemon that comes with the herb crusted chicken always adds a nice flavor profile to the chicken. Salads are always fresh and cold. It's pretty dark inside but the lighting fixtures they have are very unique! Wear a lighter layer under your coat/sweater cause it is pretty toasty in there. Our waitress took our order only to find out the prime rib that was advertised out front wasn't available - so she retook everyone's order about 5 minutes later and what I assume was the manager came out to apologize. He stated that he kept reminding the staff to flip the specials out front, assuming this is a reoccurring problem. Three out of six ordered the cowboy ribeye (another advertised special) and it was the same quality you'd get going to Waffle House, unfortunately. The fat wasn't rendered properly leading to rubbery texture and there wasn't a proper sear. 2/10 The other three of us picked the bowl of potato soup (6/10), Philly Cheese Sandwich (9/10), and Shrimp Scampi (7/10). The potato soup was pretty standard and could've used a little more seasoning. When I took my leftovers home, I added onion & garlic powder, kinders the blend, and salt & pepper and it was perfect! Shrimp Scampi tasted good but the noodles were well past Al dente. Not a big deal for the person who ordered it but something to note if you're a texture person. Overall, it was mediocre service (I think our server was new) and hit or miss food. It would be a great place to stop and grab some drinks at the bar, though.
