Striped bass with rice, peas and smoked tomato sauce

The service was warm and friendly even if nobody checked on me during my two meals. The waiters dropped off the food and disappeared. Decor is upscale and stylish; they were playing '80s dance pop which lent a high energy vibe. The striped sea bass was a high point as was a flourless chocolate cake. Excellent mocktails and coffee. However a Caesar-inspired salad with gems, cheddar, and creamy caper dressing had one note of flavor throughout. As you can see in my photos, plating was very careless!

Stand by my last review. This is a hotel restaurant with a great view. Service was Meh. Food was a B. Had to pay ten bucks to park and the breakfast was close to $30 sans toast. Toast is $5 more.

Not sure why this isn't better rated, but this place is incredible. My friend brought me here to celebrate my birthday and I was amazed by the view and the food. The service was impeccable, and the waiter went above and beyond. Extremely attentive, and always asking us if we needed anything additional. We ordered quite a bit for 2, but we couldn't decide what we wanted to get so we got a little of everything. Branzino was a 10/10. Extremely fresh, flaky, and delicious. We got a pulled steak sandwich and that was also delicious. The grilled onion along with the sweetness of the bread, honestly burst in my mom. The mussels are so addicting! The garlic w the wine sauce reduction was so good. The crisp of the bread made it perfection! Also, fries is a must in my book! A nice little surprise - they brought me a cheesecake which I couldn't stop eating.

Beautiful views from this upscale restaurant in the Claremont Resort. Service was attentive. The food was very good. We enjoyed the French toast with berries and blueberry thyme syrup. The bagel with lox was a bit over toasted, but edible. The carnitas hash was delicious. Coffee was strong and was topped off regularly.

I'm sorry to share our disappointment with our dining experience at Limewood. The best part of the meal was the buns (highly recommend) and dessert (so unique and lovely). Timing was off, chicken was dry, steak was unseasoned, potatoes didn't match menu, and shrimp app was 3 pieces. It was delicious but felt scant. Husband was sat with sun burning through his retina (his words), and sun shade was inoperable. We would have asked to move but our waitress was no where to be seen. We come here for special evenings and may wait a bit to return. The view is beautiful and the other times we have dined here have been lovely.

So I apologize in advance for the lack of photos. Once I got my drink I completely forgot the assignment. However Limewood is a great time, the service was great only reason I gave 4 stars was due to the menu being a little lack luster for such a beautiful location. The items ordered were pretty good My drink was the Claremont surprise-delicious My husband had the mezcal magic it too was tasty We shared: the Parker house rolls An octopus dish the 24oz braised short rib The truffle fries We had the butter cake for dessert and I ended my night with the lime drop Everything was pretty good, not to die for but by no means bad I'd like to try their brunch

Solid 4. Ambiance is fabulous! View if Berkeley, Oakland & San Francisco! Wait staff was kind and attentive. The man behind the closed bar at 11:25 Monday 10/13, was abrupt & a tad rude. On to the food: I had the Rock fish sandwich & my neice had the mushroom omelet. All dishes were beautifully plated! The cod was too thin, not very much fish. And the omelet did not have any cheese. I know not all omelets have cheese, but apparently this one needed it. Their complementary birthday cheesecake was very good! I highly recommend for a very wonderful setting, nice vibe & kind staff.

Beautiful views and good service! We have enjoyed dinner before. Tonight dishes seemed to lack a little something compared to other nights. We started with the Parker house rolls which are always a must get! Huge fluffy rolls With marrow butter. The octopus was the best dish of the night!! Tender and flavorful! The burger was good but not as good as past times. We upgraded to truffle steak fries- wedges of potato covered in truffle aioli. The pasta was ok- not as good as past visits. It just seemed to lack something to make it special. The Cobiq was good but again lacking in anything amazing. Martinis are great but over priced at $27. Past experiences have been better so we will be back.

The view is great. The food is great The service is 5 1 My only complaint, they serve water by the glass. A significant amount of water is saved by serving water to the table in a carafe. A bonus people from all over the world that are dining. We'll say "ah, yes, we're in California"

The fourth star is for the view, otherwise would have been three only! We made a reservation for outdoor. The table for two is a really small table. Our request for a bigger table was frowned upon and ignored, even though the place was only about half full. The weekend brunch Menu is super limited. A few more options would be greatly appreciated! After ordering drinks, we ordered a gem salad to share and a smash burger to share. The kitchen did send the salad in two plates and sliced the burger in half. However, both were brought to the table at the same time! So, do we eat the salad first, and let the burger get cold?! Ahhh! Would have been so nice to get the burger 10-15' after the salad! Fortunately, the burger was yummy, the fries were meh! The view is amazing! It was a little chilly (in July!} and the tiny heaters were useless! The service was ok, nothing memorable. At this price point, the customer deserves more!

Amazing restaurant in Claremont Resort & Club! We made a reservation & arrived early. We went to the adjacent bar to grab cocktails & watch the game. When our table was ready, we were greeted happily by Em who took us a to a table near the window with gorgeous views of the property & Berkeley. They have an outdoor seating area & we will definitely come back to dine there for brunch. The menu is overwhelming because everything sounded so good, we could not decide! Thankfully, Em recommended a few of her favorite dishes. Sliders: OMG! Amazing! A must order. The prime rib was tender & juicy (& they give a generous portion), the garlic aioli was loaded with flavor & the roll was buttery & fluffy. Braised Oxtail: The oxtail literally melts in your mouth, wow! Seasonal Cake: Make sure to order this with ice cream! So delicious & the perfect amount of sweetness. We were lucky enough to meet Chef John who came by our table to ensure that we were happy we our meal & we gushed about how lovely every dish was.

I've been here for date nights, holiday dinners, business dinners, and countless meals with friends visiting from out of town. It's one of those rare restaurants that seems to work for just about any occasion. The service is always great, the College Avenue location is hard to beat, and I've always had good luck finding street parking nearby. The ribeye is my personal favorite and what I order more often than not. If you're coming with a group, the cheese and charcuterie plates are a great way to start. The menu is varied enough that there's always something for everyone, and I've never had a bad meal here. I was genuinely sad to hear that they'll be closing at the end of the year. Restaurants with this kind of quality, consistency, and character are increasingly rare. If you've never been, make a point of going while you still can. I'll certainly miss it once they're gone.

They did partially redeem themselves by comping our meals due to their error and additional time we had to wait, but you would think they would not make such a blatant mistake in the first place. Sloppy service for sure. It apparently wasn't our waiter's fault, who was super friendly, but some manager or somebody, who did completely the wrong thing without double checking, and grabbed our food and set it down on some other patron's table, who I guess then began eating it. Seriously? The food has always been good here but the atmosphere super loud and echoey, not good. So, needless to say, I'm glad they are closing. It's just unfortunate that they are leaving somewhat bad terms with me.

I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth. The price of their sandwiches is in the $20 range, but the quality and portion make it totally worth it.

He found the ribs to be fall-off-the bone tender, with potatoes that were more whipped than mashed alongside a carrot puree. I, on the other hand, had the New York Steak and au gratin potatoes. Though I wanted to enjoy my entree, I found the New York Steak to be unfortunately chewy and with too much fat. The au gratin potatoes could have had more crispy layers but tasted mediocre. I honestly looked forward to eating here since it was on the Michelin guide and read some great reviews here on yelp. Even though I was excited to visit, after dining here, my expectations came out to a disappointment. For a table of 4 we were left unsatisfied and a little hungry after losing our appetite. 3/5 of what's ordered was a bust. The menu prices were a medium-high, especially for entree, I had higher expectations which I don't mind paying for, but the food wasn't convincing enough that the price was an afterthought. I couldn't justify what I was paying for after eating. Plating is beautiful but for over $39 of entree you would have expected at least some starch and maybe a few or more pieces of fibrous greens. For the price of the duck breast and pork chop that was mid, it would have been better buying a whole roast duck and crispy pork at a chinese roastery for a third of the price. Food: Octopus was good 4/5 I'd definitely recommend grabbing it as your starter. It was very tender and I enjoyed the flavors. Wish there was more. Brussel Sprouts 1/5 I don't recommend. It was overly cooked to the point the texture inside was mushy and the outside was burnt to the point it was very bitter. The sauce/dressing for it was delicious but that wasn't enough to help so we sent it back. Halibut 4/5 Best entree I'd recommend. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious for it. Pork Chop 2.5/5 The sauce was good but the taste reminds me of a vinaigrette salad dressing. I did wish there was more flavor from the pork but it was fine. The meat was nice and tender. Unfortunately the pork bone was still rare on the inside, otherwise it would've gotten a higher score. Duck Breast 2/5 I'm not sure if the chef intentionally cooked the duck breast to be that rare but I fully expected a nice medium from the photos I've seen from the reviews. We weren't a fan and left it half eaten (mostly the medium pink parts). The duck wasn't tender and very chewy. Was more gamey. Skin wasn't crispy or rendered enough and was more of a rubbery, flabby and a thick texture. It was very unfortunate because the sauce was very delicious. Dessert 4/5 Although we didn't finish the pork or duck entree and asked for the check, I didn't expect it but I really appreciated the surprised complimentary dessert. The ice cream birthday cake was good but because I had lost my appetite, we didn't finish it and decided to leave after a couple bites. Service 5/5 Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I accidentally reserved for a table of 2 instead of 4 and fortunately the host was cool about it and we were lucky enough to have extra seating available. Water was consistently refilled without being asked. We were checked on regularly but not to the point we were constantly hovered over. Table was cleaned with our plates and utensils changed after each meal which was nice. Ambience It's cute and cozy. The outside dining is nice for a warm day. The bar area is nice. Drinks were good. I would come back just to hang out at the bar.

Seating is first come. Did I mention they have a lot of veggie options and piny the elder on tap? Server was patient with our group of 5. Recommend for a spot with brews n food.

On the other hand, there's a staff member who functions both at the bar and as a server, who has one of the shittiest attitudes working at a restaurant. You know, the one who will flip his bitch-switch because he's having his monthly menstrual cycle when you're there? Yeah, that one. My thing is that if you're working at a place that is in the field of "hospitality" (e.g. restaurant, hotel), your personal problems take a backseat, and you are to provide a pleasant experience to your clientele. I do not care to receive any feeling of hostility because you cannot regulate your emotions because of your problems with whomever you're having a beef with. If you're contemplating whether to patronize this establishment, by all means avoid the person that has straight-ish shoulder length hair and that wears glasses. He has a very bitchy, snide, and condescending attitude that you'd want to avoid. As I said, the food is a 4, but this individual drops the rating for Yelp down to a 1.

One of our coworkers recommended Gather, a large, farm-to-table restaurant, so five of us ventured here for a business dinner. The food and service were definitely 5 stars. Great laid back vibe. We came on a Tuesday night and yet the restaurant eventually got busier through the night. My favorite dishes were: Yellowtail Sashimi and Corn Riblets are both great appetizers and full of flavor. We should have double ordered to split among five. The half roasted chicken had crispy skin and was fairly well seasoned and moist. I don't indulge in desserts as much these days but if split a few desserts among five people you get 1/5 the calories, LOL! I recommend the warm bread pudding, pecan sundae, and salted chocolate chip cookies. In case street parking is difficult (it often is in Berkeley!), the restaurant is located right next to Oxford Garage which has a low flat fee for weeknights.

For our drinks, I had the Moonlight Blossom, my aunt had a glass of red wine, and my mom had a cucumber mint spritzer (mocktail as she was the DD). The moonlight blossom tasted similar to cherry limeade. The entrees we had were the mussels, veggie burger, and the chef's market pizza. The mussels themselves were tasty and appreciated that they were able to leave out the chorizo. However, I wish that they brought a spoon and there was more broth. I tried some of my mom's veggie burger and the red color from the beets made it stand out from the usual veggie burger. The fries tasted homemade. I had a slice of the pizza and while I like the ingredients themselves, the combination just didn't do it for me. The crust was good though! We also shared a green goddess salad, which was tasty. The desserts looked amazing but we had no room! Service was friendly and our waitress made good recommendations. Can park on the side streets or the garage. Restaurant was not noisy. Would come back to try other items, especially dessert.
