I have permanent nerve damage and pain that I will have for the rest of my life because of a wisdom tooth removal by Dr. Greene. Two years ago I went for a wisdom tooth extraction. I returned a few days later to tell Dr. Greene that feeling hadn't yet returned to my chin. I was nervous and scared. He condescendingly told me, without even looking at the wound, that I needed "to take a chill pill" because I had "temporarily" lost feeling. He said he did "the best he could with the anatomy (I) brought him" and that this whole thing was my own "fault" (!) because I was "so nervous that day." He proceeded to tell me how it is "worse for men" (I am a woman) because "they have to shave." After 10 minutes of this lecturing, I asked him to actually look at wound. He glanced at it without instruments and said it was okay. He said he couldn't do anything and that I would be okay. Go away, essentially. I was not okay. I eventually found a surgeon who had specialized knowledge of nerve damage. During my first full surgery, which was a 3 hour procedure in which time I was admitted to a hospital, my new surgeon found that during the original extraction my nerve had gotten caught in the boney hole left by the wisdom tooth. Every time I chewed, I was literally chewing on my nerve. It was painful. The nerve knotted itself up into a neuroma. The only way to remove it was to make an incision on my neck and cut through the jaw bone (which inadvertently exposed another nerve to air and I temporarily lost motor function of my lip). The nerve wounded by Dr. Greene at Lincoln Park Institute had to be severed and replaced with a nerve graft. I chose a nerve graft from a cadaver. The other option was to remove a nerve from my foot. I had to go through two of these surgeries. I am telling you these details not to be gruesome but because this is the reality of the situation if this happens to you. It has been two years since Dr. Greene extracted my wisdom tooth. I will never have full feeling in my chin. Ironically I have pain every time I talk, smile or laugh. I haven't sang in years. It is literally physically painful. I know it's hard to understand/explain how you can have no feeling but still have pain. The medical term is Anesthesia Dolorosa. It is similar to phantom limb pain. I am on neurological medication for it, and the neurologist says I probably will be for the rest of my life. Also after two surgeries in the neck area, I lost muscle function and go to physical therapy twice a week. Yes, physical therapy for the face is a thing. I am a medical marvel and curiosity to almost every doctor now, except Dr. Greene who has not once reached out. If he had acted professionally and pointed me in the direction to get help immediately when I needed it, instead of leaving me to believe everything "was okay" and then proceeding to need to find help on my own -- which is not easy-- I might have possibly avoided a lifetime of pain where it will hurt every time I talk, smile, or laugh. All this for a wisdom tooth that wasn't even really hurting. I just had it out because I was told I should. Attached is a photo after nerve graft surgery to try to fix the damage done by Dr. Greene at Lincoln Park Institute.

Voicemail for LPI telling me they forgot to give my pain med prescription.

Dr. Coleman Spector was funny and very informative which put me at ease. The worrying about getting it done was worse than the procedure itself. When i woke up he was done. I had no pain but I did have swelling. For all my surgical dental needs I'll be coming here and I've already started recommending him to everyone I know. Thank you Dr. Spector!

He had me waiting 40 mins for consultation and did not come in until I told his assistant i was leaving. Plus, he was not withh another patient but doing some paperwork next door. I did have my tooth pulled with him and while it went ok, his manor with me was inappropriate telling me that I was a wuss. I snapped back, "Yass, pure puss!" No shame in this game baby. That caught him off guard and I got no more of that s**t. He is also a know it all with a god complex and will not admit when he is wrong. We disagreed on what he had told me about after care and not eating on that side; he said he told me that I couldn't eat on it for a year, and I told him that he did not say that ( I would have remembered that). Childishly (because I wanted to see how far he would carry this on) I engaged in a back and forth with him. Me: no you didn't, Him: yes I did....about 5 times this back and forth went on because I was just sure that since I only had 1 dentist pull my tooth and he had multiple patients, wasn't it just possible that I would remember while he might get mixed up with so many patients? I did not continue treatment with him and finished with Dr. Charles Goodman on Sheffield (unfortunately he has retired now), who was excellent. I told my dentist, Dr. Joshua Ehrlich (who by the way is fantastic) of the experience an I wouldn't suggest he recommend anyone else, which is when he referred me to Dr. Goodman. If you read other negative reviews of Dr. Coleman there is a definite theme of misogyny and homophobia.

Toplines: Don't Walk, (Run) Away from ORA Surgery and Implant Studio…read moreI think most people would agree, negative Yelp reviews shouldn't be thrown around if you had one bad experience at a crappy pizza place or maybe a restaurant where you landed a server that was just having a bad day. On the other hand, dental work in general, but especially the process of getting a dental implant and all of the phases and costs that go along with it, merits warning for others that are about to go down this road. How did I choose ORA Surgery? It was recommended to me by my dentist, who I really love and who represents quite the opposite of my experience here. Having not a clue as to how many appointments and how much money and time this was going to take, I didn't second guess or do my due diligence. That's on me. All in, I spent a fortune (over $6,000) out of pocket over a process of (over 3 years now) on an implant that failed and now I'm starting from square one. That doesn't include all the money they made from billing insurance, which it seems they stopped doing altogether from what I was told on my last and final visit. I thought I was going crazy, but I have seen some of the other reviews now it looks like I'm not alone. 1) ORA is way overpriced and the whole point is profit - not well-being, not customer satisfaction. I have now had time to do comparisons on rates for procedures with other providers and these rates (apples-to-apples) are way above the norm. They push the "boutique, LEED-certified, green, sustainable" claptrap on you to distract you from terrible service, price and results 2) MY IMPLANT FAILED LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER PLACEMENT - literally fell out of my jaw while I was sleeping - after I reported this, THEY did not rush to get me in - I had to bug them (several times) to get back in 3) Once I was able to get back in I was met with nothing more than a shoulder shrug, a restatement of "how rare" implant failures are, and a not-so-subtle inference that it must have been something (I did) to make the failure happen 4) As of even a few months ago, I was having to call and BEG THEM to send over a treatment plan with estimates. Called, emailed twice, never received them 5) The staff is insufferable - my process was long enough to see the front desk turnover TWICE. Rude wouldn't be the correct word - you can tell they have had complaints because you can physically see them biting their tongue to stop themselves from unloading. CREDIT: There were a couple "back of the house" assistants that were kind, professional, and seemed to understand that some patients may ask questions about why a procedure or timeline was necessary 6) The disconnect between the front desk staff and the knowledge of financials (or even how to get an invoice) is so very suspicious, but I now realize it's probably the point. 7) Good luck with any insurance - if they do submit they will remind you that the insurance probably won't pay, you have to pay them in full NOW, and they will do so in a way that says "we are doing you a really big favor" 8) You WILL get nickel and dimed. There is a 2% charge on cards - EVEN DEBIT! I asked if I could go grab some cash to avoid this (because who carries that much cash?) and they acted as if I were shoplifting 9) The process WILL NOT be explained to you, and they will shuttle you in to do an x-ray/exam/some other arcane procedure, and the main point is they want to do it before you find out how much it is going to cost you or if it's even necessary 10) The general vibe of the experience: "You should be so lucky we are even going to see you, now please pay us and don't ask any questions" Steer clear of this one, and I am imploring those that are about to start the implant process - take some time to do comparative research, it's a huge investment of time and money, and if you miss, it's a big miss.

I have never given a Yelp review for anything ever. After my experience here, I do not know what…read moreother direction to take this. The first half of my experience was okay. Everyone was neutral. No one was nice, no one was rude, everyone was just meh. That's fine. I was sat down with who I believe to be Joan to discuss billing for my wisdom teeth removal. She informed me that insurance would cover 0% of my procedure and that $3,000 was owed before the surgery. Visibly upset, I reassured her that I was not upset with her and that I know she cannot do anything. I asked her what I can do. In an impatient and apathetic manner, she tells me to call my insurance and read them the codes on the sheet of paper I had just signed and ask them why they won't cover it. Cool, I'll do that. She brings me to the front and tells me I owe $120. For a copay? For what? Why wasn't I warned? Why didn't anyone tell me before or charge me before providing this service? I did not consent nor was I even close to aware of a possibility of a copay this large. While I am asking these questions, I'm being presented with dismissive comments. "This is just the way we do things here ma'am" etc. I told her I will not be paying out of pocket as I cannot afford to. I then ask for a copy of the paper that I signed that had the insurance codes written so I can take my business elsewhere. She tells me "No, you need to leave." After I mentioned that I have the right to own a copy of a document that I signed, she told me she would email it to me. I told her that I will wait until she emails it to leave. I call a family member in the waiting room expressing my sadness surrounding the situation-- this is a service I need and I cannot have done. The front desk worker, Jenessa, tells me, in a raised voice, that I need to leave and I cannot be in the building. After reiterating that I am a patient waiting for documents, she asked Joan to promptly send the document so I can leave the premises. After waiting for approximately 45 minutes, I asked Jenessa if printing the document would be easier or faster. She told me the situation was none of her business and to ask Joan. Joan explained that I was not a priority patient and she had more important work to do. As I was walking away, I (I think rightfully) expressed that there are multiple workers capable of sending me what I need. Jenessa then continued to raise her voice at me repeatedly. I told her the matter did not concern her. After waiting another 20 minutes for my document, I, with tears in my eyes, told Joan that person to person this is an extremely important document. It will allow me to receive an important surgery and I would appreciate if she would send it to me. I told her I would be leaving and I trust that she will. While walking out, Jenessa, the front desk worker, was laughing at my emotion and vulnerability. I peeked around a corner to look. She then proceeded to SCREAM profanities. I was speechless. She began to stand up, walk over to me, and scream as if she wanted to physically harm me. Her coworkers had to physically restrain her. I immediately left the premises. Not only did Ora leave me with surprise charges, their desk workers met me with no empathy, patience, or compassion. They brought hostility and aggression (physical and verbal). I think Ora needs to have some serious improvement when it comes to their financial transparency as well as their hiring process. The receptionist at my oral surgeon office should not attempt to physically assault me. I did get the document via email.
