So years ago my parents set up their arrangements with Lind Brothers. Mom passed years ago and dad passed Saturday. My dad is currently in NC. If you are looking for a company to take good care of your loved one, this is NOT the right company for you. FYI - this company also goes by the name Lowest Cost Cremations and Burials. My father died on June 11, and we were told we would get his ashes and his death certificate within 7-10 days. After 7 days, my mother called and the woman on the phone was very rude and said she would call when they were ready. After 10 days, my mother called back. The woman on the phone said that the hospital made a mistake and so they didn't have the death certificate yet. My mom started calling daily and each day she would get a different story as to why the death certificate hadn't been registered and why my dad's ashes weren't ready. On July 3rd, my brother went in person to ask, and someone showed him the computer screen and said everything would be ready on Monday, the 7th. When my mom called on Monday, there was a whole new story as to why the death certificate and my dad's ashes weren't ready. At this point, I called and informed them that we would be transferring my dad and that we were going to need a refund. We had my dad transferred that day. Then a few days later, my mom called to confirm the refund check was ready before she drove over there to pick it up. My mom was transferred to a different woman (who identified herself as a manager), who started yelling at my mother as soon as she picked up the phone (thinking it was me on the phone). When my mom went to pick of the check, the woman scoffed as my mom walked out. The lies and the rude treatment from the staff here was unacceptable. They have made a very painful process even more painful. Do not trust them with your loved one. read more

My parents prepaid for their services, my mom recently passed away, and we went in and choose a PURLPE Urn. Purple was her favorite color. It was a stain glass purple urn and it was beautiful. We ordered it and unfortunately it was blue. we were first told that is what we ordered which was not true as we had pictures and when they went back they agreed to call to company. Turns out there is not guarantee on color. Would of been nice to know. They offered a plain urn and to return what she was in. Which is not what we wanted. There was a lot of things they could of done, but they just seemed about the money. When i picked mom up again today. People in this type of business should be friendly and compassionate. They deal with people during a time that could be the most sad and stressful part of their lives. Unfortunately that is not what I experienced today. First I did I stop by without an appointment. I was recently a pallbearer at my mother in law's funeral. Afterwords the funeral director said that some people like to keep one of the white gloves, that were provided the the mortuary, as a keepsake. I kept mine but others didn't. I had mine embroidered with her name birth date and date of death. When other pallbearers saw it they regretted not keeping theirs. I stopped by Lind Brothers and was greeted but told I needed to wait for the person that was on the phone. Mind you they didn't even ask why I was there or what I wanted. Just told to wait. When she got off the phone she came out to the lobby and ask how she could help. I asked her if they provide white gloves to their pallbearers. She looked at me like I was from a different planet. Writing on 13 Feb 23: Our mother passed away on 31 Jan 23; we viewed her remains on 2 Feb. We needed her cremated for an internment ceremony on the 14th at a National Cemetery that could not change its schedule. Lind Bros assured us they would keep us apprised of progress. As the date for the internment approached, we received no word from Lind Bros. about picking up Mom's remains. We finally called them on Fri, 10 Feb at 1029 and were told her remains would be ready "any time" on Monday. We arrived at the funeral home at 1130 on Monday and, after much hemming, hawing, and passing of bucks by LB's employees, that she had not yet been cremated, but "we assure you she'll be ready today." Further inquiry revealed that 1) the crematorium had Mom's body since 5 Feb, but not the paperwork authorizing cremation and 2) the paperwork was not sent to the crematorium until this morning (13 Feb) *after* we discovered the error and *made* them send it. Had we not discovered the error, she would still be sitting in cold storage the day of her internment. The staff was barely apologetic and somewhat confrontational, seeking to defer blame and even blame us. This is a business that would recommend ALL *avoid if at all possible.* They are incompetent, uncaring, and unprofessional. read more

Most people dont want to think about needing services like this. Unfortunately, my family and I were faced with the need for mortuary services. Lind Brothers was recommended, because face it, would you know where to go in time of need? Propbably not. Most us have an unspoken need for comfort and help, when we are not at our best. We expect to have someone assist us with making plans, and in our case, they needed to be made within a certain time period. My initial conversation was great. They were willing to help, they were willing to assist in " picking up" the deceased. and they were willing to get it done based on a time line that we provided. GREAT! It helped with the emotions that were running high to say the least. This is where things went downhill. They went from appearing to be caring and compassionate, to not returning phone calls, and shoving our calls off to other people within the organization. Essentially, the run around. They refused to provide us with the rest of the pricing, and kept insisting on getting it to us later. This is the situation that once you are in it, there truly doesnt feel like there is a way out. What should be simple, became complicated, and very painful, on top of what we as a family were already experiencing. This is NOT what grieving families should have to deal with on top of everything else. More to the point, the rudeness over the phone was them raising their voices at us when asked questions, to them actually hanging up on us. As a grieving family member, and a paying customer, i expected to be treated decently. I understand they have other customers, but that shouldnt take away from my family. Additionally, they intentionally held up services, didnt notify us, and again, refused to return phone calls. A non-relative contacted them, and instructed them to not speak with the family. Rather than contact us to verify the accuracy, they followed misguided instructions, and this was despite my telling them that they had inaccurate information. By all means, make the grieving hurt more. At some point everyone will need mortuary services, and none of us truly want to think about it, let alone think about it when we are in immediate need. There are plenty of other mortuary homes within the greater Sacramento area, and I would encourage you to utilize their services, and to not consider Lind Brothers. They dont respect the living, how can you trust them to respect the dead?! read more

What should have been simple was made very complicated and painful. We were lied to told that as long as we payed in full we would have his ashes by a certain date. My loved ones ashes were received 2 days later than promised, and 2 days after what 'due diligence' required, since he was a minor with an absentee father. Never again will i consider this place as respectful to the dead, much more the living. Especially the living. Never really believed i would have to bury a child, but since i have, instead of resorting to folks such as these found at this mortuary, I'm investing in funeral plans for my living children, such as i have already paid for myself. No parent should have to go through what i did to get their son's ashes...later than what was promised. I hope they never know, on a personal level, the pain that exacerbated in my life. read more

My experience with Lind Brothers was positive in the beginning. Josh and an assistant picked up our loved one and were very kind and compassionate. We opted to do a service at the Lind Brothers Chapel. Josh was great in handling those details. Unfortunately, Josh was not available to be there on the day of our service so he set us up with a colleague of his. There were a couple of minor mishaps on the day of the service with the music and video, but nothing major. Our officiant left before I could pay him, but the lady who ran our service said that they see our officiant frequently and would give him my check. I never heard from the funeral home or from the officiant that there was a problem. I noticed the officiant's check had not been cashed, so I called the funeral home about a month after our service to see if he ever picked up the check. I was informed that the funeral home had lost my check. They never contacted me to let me know. I put a stop payment on the check and sent the officiant a new check. Josh at Lind Brothers told me he would get a $25 check cut and mailed to me for the stop payment fee, since they had lost my check. It's now been 3 months since Josh promised me that check, and I have not received it. read more

I am having the worst experience of my life, and dealing with this mortuary is part of the nightmare. I had a still born birth on December 20th, 2017, 5 days before Christmas. Lind Bros. was convenient and close by, and has been in business since the 60's, so I figured I'd go to them for help cremating my baby. We singed the paperwork and paid for the cremation on Tuesday December 26th, 2017, the day after Christmas with Dylan. Dylan told us we didn't have to create a death certificate, and that we could do that at any time we wanted to. We get a call back Thursday December 28th, 2017 from Dylan stating that they were able to pick up my baby from the hospital's morgue, but still needed my prenatal visit records because by California Law they couldn't cremate a body without a death certificate, and that this was something they needed to compile for the death certificate. Yet they themselves told me that I could do a death certificate at anytime after the process was completed. On December Friday 29th, I had to drive a great distance to go to the medical records office and have the medical office fax Lind Bros. a copy of my prenatal appointments. We called Lind Bros. later that day on Friday December 29th and asked if they were able to get the paperwork for the prenatal visits and if they were able to cremate my son. Lind Bros. said that they had not cremated my son yet, and were still waiting on something to be signed off by the doctor that was on call the night my baby was delivered. We waited through Saturday, Sunday, and Monday was New Year's Day (a holiday)... We get a message on voicemail on Wednesday January 3rd from the manager of Lind Bros. stating that they still hadn't received the paperwork yet from the doctor that was on call and delivered my baby and that the manager will be on vacation and won't be able to call back until this Friday. I called the hospital's records department later that day on January 3rd and told them what was going on with Lind Bros. and if they could give them that information. The records department at the hospital said that they could give them that information, and that the funeral home knows that they could obtain those records. I soon got off the phone with the hospital records office and called Lind Bros. and got a hold of Dylan and asked to be transferred to the manager. Dylan said that he can take a message and give it to the manager. I told Dylan to tell the manager that they can obtain those records if they called this number and talked to a lady named Dawn. My baby has been rotting in your fridge with no embalming for 9 days and needs to be cremated. A few minutes later, I get a call from the manager at Lind Bros. stating that they have all the paperwork and are now waiting on a coroner's signature. I asked her how my baby's body is holding up in their fridge without the embalming because we were going ahead with cremation. I told her it had been in their fridge for nine days now. The manager was hesitant in her voice and said that my baby's body is holding up somewhat okay right now. This is just unacceptable and a horrific experience that I am going through. It's Wednesday January 3rd. My baby's been in Lind Bros. Funeral Home for 9 days in their fridge and has not been cremated and handled expediently with care and consideration of the family in mourning. I am still waiting for my baby to be cremated and put into a heart-shaped urn. :'( This is coming from a grieving mother that lost her premature baby 5 days before Christmas. A still born baby that I cradled in my arms for 2 days before sending him to the morgue. Never to see him again until he becomes a pile of ash in an urn. And Lind Bros. can't expedite this process along smoothly enough for me. This is such a nightmare! read more

My parents had started pre-need arrangements quite a few months ago. They needed additional information to finalize but put it off, until recently. My dad is on hospice care and Mom and I decided to finish the arrangements as he is expected to pass soon. Well, 3 phone calls and one week later (a Friday), finally received a return call, told he would call on Monday. No call. So we made an appointment to make arrangements for my Dad. Felt like we were buying a piece of furniture. The lack of attention, professionalism and care was very disappointing, especially since my Dad retired, as a funeral director, from Lind Bros. He worked with the original owners (close family friends), Verne and Rosie Lind for over 20 years. Grounds were shabby, viewing room, just inside the front door, had the door open and looked as if someone had been sleeping in it. Black leggings and a sparkly top does not constitute professional attire for a funeral home/director making arrangements. My Dad, Rosie and Verne would be appalled. (In fact, Rosie would not stand for that!) After making arrangements, she went out one door and left us to go out the front by ourselves. My Dad would never have allowed that. He, Rosie and Verne always walked families out. Very disappointing...we have gone elsewhere. And won't be back to make arrangements for my Mom (90 yrs old) when her time comes. read more

I used the Lowest Priced cremation and burial inside of Lynn brothers for my Mom. The staff is very caring and the price is a fraction of other funeral homes. It hard enough to lose someone you love. It is nice that there is a company that understands how hard it is to afford final expenses for our loved ones. read more

I never thought I'd need these services this early in life. They made the hardest time in my life so much easier. When I went to their office to sign contracts they made it short and as painless as possible. They had the best prices, they don't use your grief as an opportunity to upsell you. They make it convenient when it comes to the death certificates they charge the same price as the county. Their staff was comforting and sincere. I hope I don't ever need this type of service again anytime soon. But if I do I will definitely use them and refer my friends and family to them. read more

I had chosen Lind Brothers when my husband passed away in January of this year as I had used them previously when my mother had passed a decade before. My review of them then would have been 5 stars however this time I am giving them a 3. First, they are no longer one of the lowest priced cremations. In fact from a list of all of the mortuaries in the greater Sacramento area, their fees are near the top of the range. Their attention to detail has also slipped over the years... they were over 2 hours late to arrive to pick up my husband and nearly dropped him off the gurney in our driveway. This was my biggest issue. With my mom, the director took every opportunity to convey that my mother was special and handled as such. They even drove away from the home approximately 15-20 mph to show respect for carrying precious cargo. This time with my husband was consistent with a clown act at the circus. The gurney was pushing and pulling to and fro and at one point went up on one side and the other side's wheels left the ground. The gurney slammed into the back of the vehicle. They opened the door, shoved him in and tore out of there. No precious cargo treatment this time. Additionally, I had purchased a new shirt and tie for my husband and the tie was never put on nor returned. a cable used for the slideshow was not returned to us as well. read more

Lind Brothers (AKA Lowest Cost Cremation) made a horrible loss even worse. After we received the ashes of my niece, a couple of the family members got jewelry with her ashes inside. One had the wrong initials on it. After that was corrected, both pieces broke within a month. One was found by niece's 4-year old daughter and some of the ashes had fallen out. When we contacted the company, they were rude and refused to refund the money. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Losing a loved one is hard enough; no one should have to deal with this level of incompetency and disregard of human emotion, as well. read more

12 years ago I would have given this mortuary a 10. Today, I find giving this establishment one star rather generous. The manager is unorganized and clearly struggles with the responsibilities of managing a business. From add on charges to insufficient communication with the cemetery, our days were stress filled completing the tasks that belonged to the mortuary. We contacted the cemetery two days prior to burial to make sure they had been notified by the mortuary manager and the grave would be ready. The cemetery told us they HAD NOT been notified about the grave side service. We were further informed by the cemetery that a grave liner was required as well as a lowering device. The cemetery also asked if Lind brothers was providing a canopy and chairs for the grave side service. So with these questions in hand we contacted the manager at Lind Bros. Her response to needing a liner was she didn't have one. (Liners are A common request from cemeteries and families alike . Something that should have been in stock). As for the lowering device, canopy and chairs, the mortuary manager said it was the families responsibility to communicate with the cemetery for those items. Not true !!!! It is the mortuary's responsibility to contact the cemetery to coordinate the details of what is needed for grave side. As for the lowering device, canopy and chairs, we owe a big thank you to McNary & Moore Mortuary for providing the necessary items. Of course, all of this came at an extra cost. A cost that Lind Bros. Should have informed us about when we made burial arrangements a week earlier. In addition to dealing with all of this 48 before the funeral, when we paid respects to our loved one, we noticed she was wearing a man's pair of eye glasses. We didn't provide glasses with the burial clothes. Once again , we asked the manger why our loved one was wearing glasses that we didn't provide. Her answer was that our loved one was wearing glasses in the picture we provided. We informed her that maybe this was something that should have been discussed with the family. This is definitely the last time we will deal with Lind Bros. Mortuary!!!!! read more
