Where to start? Never a good experience at this place. You can tell just by the dismal interior what kind of experience you're going to have. The decor is old, tasteless, and just flat out ugly. The owner clearly cares very little how their establishment looks, which is probably the first warning sign you're in for a bad time. Also the shades on the front windows are usually not down, or not working altogether, and the glare from the cars parked out front will blind you on a sunny afternoon, so be prepared to hunch way down in your seat or eat with your eyes closed. Food is mediocre. The portions are all over the place - the baked chicken is a sizable meal, but I've gotten the tuna and it's on probably the smallest slices of bread you could possibly have with nothing but oily soup and stale potato chips to go with it. Just gross and will not fill anyone up. Sometimes you get offered rolls with your meal. It's impossible to tell which meals come with rolls- sometimes I get offered a roll with the baked chicken, but not always, so it might just depend on how your server is feeling that day. But instead of bringing them out to munch on while you endure the long wait for your food they only bring them out with your meal. Great. I haven't been impressed with anything I've ordered here, and it's not cheap. You could probably get a better quality at the McDonald's down the street, and definitely get more for your money. And the service is simply atrocious. The waitresses are a bunch old ladies and every single one of them is beyond awful. They're rude and give you unbelievably slow service. If you work on base and you're coming here for lunch, I highly advice against it unless you have unlimited lunch time. Waiting 20 minutes just for one of these old ladies to bring you your check is pretty standard, on top of the slow wait for food. If you only get an hour or less to eat, DO NOT COME HERE. It's clear that nobody at this establishment cares. I highly recommend eating somewhere else. read more

Waited over an hour for our food, watched several tables that sat and order after us get food first. When our food finally came and we started to eat it was luke warm at best, we told them we couldn't eat the food like that and left...we were told repeatedly our food was next...watching how long it takes tables food to come out it appears they prepare one plate at a time on the grill. They really need to figure out a better way to get orders up, for the size of this place an hour per table wait is not acceptable and we won't be back anytime soon... read more

While the establishment is well hidden in a small shopping area outside of NAS Patuxent River's Gate 2, the inside could use serious updating, and the service was average, the food was actually really tasty. I had a steak and cheese sub sandwich with french fries, and I thought the food was very good with a very reasonable price. I will probably return there in the future for a work lunch, because the food did not take long to prepare and the price was just right. read more

I asked to place an order. I was told no you guys were done. I wad told to go orders take an hour? How on earth could it take an hour to cook a burger? This isn't the first time I've been denied. Not bad at all. Linda's is a solid diner with a pretty sizable menu, especially for breakfast. Linda's gets 4 stars from me (well... 3.5, to be honest), because there's nothing else that's even close nearby. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Linda's! I have been going here since I was a kid and the food has always been good. I especially love going here for breakfast, and is always a favorite of mine on my lunch breaks. If you go during lunch time, or Saturday/Sunday morning for breakfast, get there early! It fills up quickly, and the wait for your food can be long. They will remind you- it is not a fast food restaurant, they are making your food right there. I really want to like this place because the food is so good. However, the waitresses seem like you are always a bother to them, the wait is always long, and the last time we went there almost all our food was cold. No one likes to eat cold gravy and cold eggs. After speaking with the owner, Linda, we were told that all their customers know there is always a long wait and they "serve over 300 customers a day with only one small grill". On this particular day it wasn't very busy at all, and it doesn't matter how many people eat there throughout the day. And quite frankly, if your orders are ALWAYS backed up, perhaps consider getting a larger grill. Any good business owner would not just offer up a bunch of bad excuses for unsatisfactory service. Just went to Linda's for breakfast on a Sunday early afternoon. We got lucky and got a booth right away, were served coffee and given our menus....then the decision making process was on! So much to choose from...this is probably one of the most (at least to me) appealing and creative breakfast menus I've ever seen. We had a very long wait after ordering, but we didn't mind--it was a Sunday after all and they kept the coffee pouring. Not to mention I have a lot of patience for well prepared food--it's a total experience for me....so that is not normally a big deal. If, however, you have any kind of time constraint, you may want to at least mention it to the server. Apart from the long wait time (which seems to be pretty consistently long) everyone is always pleasant, cheery and attentive when possible and Sunday was no exception. It deserves repeating to say that if the food is exceptional and the service is friendly and cheery, who would want to rush the cook staff--it is apparent they know what they are doing. So sit back and enjoy! A tip--bring a newspaper, a good book or a good friend to take up the wait time. Or just play with your smartphone and write a review of Linda's! Overall, this particular experience was 5 star all the way around, and I would highly recommend Linda's for breakfast over any chain you may find in the area. read more

I like any eatery that serves scrapple with my breakfast and real fried potatoes and onions (not that I need them, mind you, but do love them). Really wanted a breakfast iteam but we had just missed. They only serve some iteams between certain times. I opted for clam chowder....barf in mouth. I saw my waitress put it in the microwave which was already a turn off for me. It tasted like it came from a can. I barley touched it...the waitress was obviously not great are she would have noticed. All in all none of us enjoyed our meals from the lunch special. Don't think I will give this place another shot. It was disappointing. I ordered an egg white omelette to go. It was small, grilled (not skillet cooked) and cost over $9.00. Friendly staff and local crowd. The grill area is disturbingly filthy with grease and burnt food running down the side. John Taffer would have a fit! I have eaten there before. Horrible customer service. The longest wait time for food I have ever seen we waited almost 45mins for two plates that never came out. The server that took our table was rude she never came to check on our table nor did she ever check how much longer our food was gonna take. The food and accommodations were great only issue I had was that a couple that was sitting next to us asking for a smaller portion for his wife because she had gastric bypass surgery and she could not order a smaller portion from the kids menu to accommodate for her new appetite size so basically they end paying more money and wasting food. read more

Linda's cafe is a small mom and pop place with great comfort food. I went in around 6:30 pm and walked right in and had my food within 10 mins. Wanted something homey for dinner and this was great. My waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I give this place 4.5 out of 5. Our waitress was amazing! Very attentive and sweet. That's the end of the positive comments unfortunately. Arrived at 10:30 and at 11:45 and we still didn't have our food. The food was average at best...def not worth that long of a wait. My husbands tomatoes were green and the sandwich was horrible. I'm not sure how you can mess up a BLT but it was a sad sandwich. My waffle was chewy and I couldn't eat it. I expressed our issue to the waitress and she was totally apologetic and said something to the owner, Linda. I watched as Linda became angry and was yelling at our waitress who wound up crying! This is where it went crazy! Linda was so completely rude and scolded me in front of other customers saying she doesn't have green tomatoes and has never had a complaint ever! Accused me of eating my waffle and it is crispy not chewy. I told her I never ate the waffle because I couldn't so she summoned the waitress over to question her. Our waitress confirmed that I did not eat it all. Linda then rips the bill out of my hand and says I don't want you paying for the food because I don't want the bad review on social media! This is a great local spot that is in Lexington Park, definitely the Southern MD version of the NJ Diner. The food is great, it comes out fast, and the service is very good. Linda is always around to chat and she is super friendly and cares deeply about her customers. With so many big box chains down in St. Mary's it's good to see that there are still mom and pop's places like this. Please get out and support Linda's as much as you can. read more

My dad is in town and I know he likes greasy spoons. I've ate here a few times and I will tell you right now that it's not the place to eat if you are limited on time. They cook the food as ordered. I was referred to this place by some people at work. My first impression was this is a hole in a wall joint but to actually see holes in the wall wasn't a good sign. At this place you seat your self which is ok but the seats cushions are all torn apart. Everything in this place is extremely old from the menus to the stuff on the wall. But the food was very good and the service there was great. I constantly saw my server and everyone else server moving around to make sure everyone was satisfied. Most reviews are correct it takes awhile to get fed here if it's full our breakfasts even came in 'stages' which was a tad weird but no longer than 1 minute in between before everything was on the table. I tried the Scrapple Gravy w eggs which was off the charts bad for you - it was good but not 'great'. Wife had just bacon and eggs and liked it. I'd try it for lunch for sure next chance I get. We were never offered coffee which is unusual in a place like this. Cost was about 9$ per person not bad. I don't think they take plastic either but the wife paid I'm not 100% sure on that one.
