This definitely falls into the category of a dive bar. I walked in and grabbed a seat at the bar and one odd thing stood out to me. Either the bar top is about 2 inches too high or the bar stool is too low because I felt like I was reaching up to grab my drink. In terms of service, nothing more than what do you want and I will pour it heavy. I think I paid $6.50 for a Sailor Jerry and coke and it was definitely a double. Essentially just a light splash of coke. There are good and bad dive bars and this falls in the middle. Nothing special but if you are looking for very heavy pours this is your spot. read more

I'll think twice before wearing a very warm (and ugly!) holiday sweater here (got rather toasty after a while), but otherwise it's a pretty darn good place to have a slightly drunk gathering with a group of friends! Our group was quite big and we ended up splitting up between a few tables on different levels, but it all worked out. I kind of enjoyed the "log cabin" feel to the place and the holiday decorations fit that place so well. We started our party during happy hour and I was ridiculously hungry, so one of my first orders was their only happy hour food deal: Three sliders for $3. The sliders were perfect little mini-burgers with a pickle spear on the side. I was very pleased. Drink-wise I enjoyed their hefeweizen and then decided to turn it into a "cheap beer night" and had a few of whatever their cheaper selection is. I think it's called Hemm's? I never could remember it, so I just always told the waitress "That cheap one- Hemm's or something?" and she knew what I meant. And that brings me to service. It was.... fine. I heard the male employee was "in a mood" so I stuck to the female one. There was one instance where I had to order my drink twice because she seemed to forget about it, but otherwise she did a fine job. The bathrooms: The women's bathroom is pretty small, so I was glad they had a stall so someone could use the toilet while another person could wash their hands. It was mostly okay, except towards the end of the night where I was walking out of the stall and a guy walked into the bathroom and rushed to the toilet. As I'm washing my hands he starts peeing (without closing the stall door) and when another girl tries to walk into the bathroom he exclaims "Close the door!" Ummm... weird. It'll probably be a long while before I pay Linda's another visit, but I'm definitely not opposed to the idea. read more

Lindas, I love you. Even the thought of you puts a smile on my face. I am a visitor to the Seattle area and spent one magical evening, and a fuzzy morning at this lovely establishment. I guzzled Tequila Grapefruits with wreckless abandon and still managed to keep my bar tab low. It took all of my friends restraint to keep me from throwing myself shamelessly onto the bartender, shit he was hot. In addition to being a bonafide 10, he pours a stiff drink. 4.50$ is pretty fabulous for a cocktail when it is 90% alcohol. God Bless that man. It's a shame I wasn't able to thank him properly.. Unlike last call when they turn the lights on and you realize who you're talking to wasn't as dreamy as you had previously though, Lindas is still wonderful in the natural light of day. Sunday brunch is amazing. Although I am a dive bar enthusiast, I am also a connoisseur of food and I know that more often then not the two do not live together in harmony. Lindas breaks the mold by serving delicious food. I ordered the Cowgirl Taco...It was perfect and paired with a 15$ pitcher of mimosa I couldn't ask for more. Our food took about three times as long as it should have to arrive, but I was smiley on champagne and didn't give a damn. I recommend you do the same - don't come in a hurry and get a nice morning buzz on. I've had good and bad experiences here. Last night I went with friends for HH and we had a great time. Lots of food items that are decent for cheap bar food while you're drinking. Not the best bar food you'll get in town, but it does the job and it's cheap during HH. The waitress was really nice and made sure we had a good time while we were there. I also came to Linda's after work last week and had the opposite experience. The service was not good, took forever to take our order and bring our drinks/food and the place was pretty empty. The waitress was not friendly and the music was loud and annoying. In the end, it's really just a grimy dive bar - how good of a dive bar? I'd say it's hit or miss! read more

I'm sick of reviewing San Diego things time to get back to Seattle. Before I headed out of town I was finally able to make it to Linda's for their brunch. I'm not sure why I never made it before, maybe I was too fat or too ugly or not cool enough anyways I met up with Michael O for some mimosas and breakfast. We were thirsty that day and went for the pitcher, OMG it was almost mimosa overload so much mimosas for two people, but have no fear like the troopers that we are we finished the picture, I mean pitcher. I went for the cowboy taco and I was thinking a breakfast taco for $7.25 what kind of taco are they going to give me??? Well the menu is a bit deceiving it should be call more a cowboy quesadilla or something it was no taco in my book, anyways it was big and filling but not a taco people. I say grab a good friend, head to Linda's, (get there when they open), grab a booth, order a pitcher of mimosa's and than sit there and relax with you friend until the pitcher is gone while others are stuck crowded at a tiny table. WOW. I am honestly shocked. I have worked as a Server and bartender for 13 years and if there is a person with empathy or understanding it's me. I walked in for a quick bite / drink before heading to a meeting. We sat for about 15 minutes. When we looked over at the bartender and server, the bartender was eating, and the server was on her phone. Another man walked into the restaurant and sat at the bar. They saw him too, but continued to eat, talk to one another and be on their phone. I finally looked over and gave a little wave....they saw me, ignored it and started talking to eachother and to someone in the kitchen, and were taking turns eating. After about 7 more minutes, I got up, said thank you for nothing, and walked out. They watched us leave. Still, the man at the bar hadn't been greeted either. It's very easy to communicate "I'll be right with you" or "I will be with you soon." The fact that they saw all of us (3 employees) more than once and continued to ignore us tells me they shouldn't be there at all. If It were my restaurant they would both be fired with no warning. But the staples keep 'em coming back, I guess. One of the most shining of Linda's stars has always been the 7-9 HH. Why more bars in the area don't break with the 4-6 10-close mold is beyond me. 7-9 is the sweet spot where I need a happy hour. Weekend brunch is reliable, comfortable and reasonably priced. The inside is gloomy but roomy, with the requisite PNW look with lots of natural wood and references to Twin Peaks as well as a few arcade machines. Politely asked to see a menu when the server got a chance (I was next in line and didn't want to hold up the line looking at the menu) was told rather rudely "I'll be with you next". I've been to Linda's a few times, but the staff today were nasty individuals. The bouncer outside was reading a book during peak hours on a Saturday night, and was super rude while checking IDs. Once it came to closing time, they closed early (even though it was advertised as 2am everywhere). And the staff were very inconsiderate when informing the guests and basically kicked us all out. Love this place because it reminds me of King's so much, but it's much more convenient to hit up Capitol Hill than Ballard. They were smart in having two bars in different neighborhoods. Anyway, I've been here a few times, once for St. Patty's and once this past weekend for my bf's bday. Both times were pretty awesome. I do love this location too because it's right across from R Place AND Mama's so if we wanted to dance or eat, we could just walk a few steps across the street and BAM. The outdoor area is where we hung out both times because it's cool and there's just more space and tables. They will kick you out if you are intoxicated though, but not before warning you a few times. I decided to kick my bf out before the server could warn us for a 3rd time... I felt completely safe and the staff was doing everything they are supposed to. They have areas roped off so noone will sit there and the staff was constantly cleaning. I like Linda's because unlike some of the other bars on the hill (*coughCHACHAcough*), it doesn't feel nearly as uberhipstersnob/highschool- "I'm wearing the latest trendy outfit/hairstyle and OMG is that so-and-so from such-and-so band? He's sooooo hot"). It's more laidback... a place where if you strike up a conversation with a person you don't know, you might have a real conversation vs. a "wanna come back to my place tonight?" ...... We came here expecting a happy hour but found out that they had recently changed their hours. We decided to still eat here - I ordered the Nachos with the vegetarian chili and was significantly disappointed. I've had nachos at several places and find it extremely difficult to mess it up. The vegetarian chili was extremely bland and the chips were also quite bland. The only flavor I could add was the guacamole and sour cream, which were given on the side, not with the plate of nachos. Both of those things, however, ran out really quickly so I ended up just eating a bunch of unsalted chips and bland dip. Linda's is pretty cool I like the atmosphere because it's dark basically. Okay really though, if you need a fairly neutral venue to kick off your night, Linda's is it. Right in the middle of Capitol Hill and full of locals. They play good music and the drinks are fairly priced. Be sure to check out LindasFest! Great punk shows in the summer. Pretty sure it was a better alternative to block party this year. They're porch is KILLER! It gets a little packed with bros earlier in the evening. But if you hold out till later and start your night outside, you'll feel right at home. I like to try and grab a table and build from there. It's great for groups and late ninth shenanigans. We came here on a Saturday morning and were seated right away. We sat outdoors in a beautiful garden area enclosed by brick walls. It was truly picturesque, and it added an earthy feel to the experience. I had blueberry pancakes and eggs, both of which were delicious. The waitstaff were helpful and polite and constantly refilling coffee and water. Unfortunately, our experience was soured by an inordinate wait time for food. We placed our order and waited about an hour for food to come out. We felt somewhat abandoned by our server during this time and saw her once around 40 minutes in, when she offered an explanation that multiple large parties had been seated at once. I'm certain she was being honest with us, but it was too little, too late. This review likely would have been 4 or 5 stars had it not been for this issue, which very much diminished our experience. I'll come back at some point and give the restaurant another chance as again, the food was delicious and I love the atmosphere and this was likely a one-time issue. read more

Came here for a night out with the bros in Capitol Hill! I liked the overall ambience. The drinks were a little light in my opinion - definitely felt like I was only getting maybe about 3/4 of a shot's worth of alcohol in my mixed drinks. Overall pretty fun atmosphere though! However, at the end of the night my friend was ejected from the bar due to accidentally breaking one of their glasses. Now, I can see that breaking a glass is an offense worthy of being kicked out of a bar, but I was a bit taken aback by the bouncer's overall attitude towards the matter. He seemed very emotionally attached to that particular glass that was broken for some reason, and he immediately threatened my friend (who is a very nice, non-aggressive person) with angry and heated words. Kind of excessive for one broken glass in my opinion. Whatever, I guess he was just doing his job. Anyways, the night life here is pretty fun! He went out of his way to act like a total asshat to every customer he interacted with. He completely attacked one man who was standing at the bar waiting for his drink because he was "too close to waitress area"...gimme a break, it was so uncalled for. At one point I thought we all might be on some kind of prank show. Truth is, there are plenty of similar dives with gross bathrooms and mediocre bar food, that don't give you the rude attitude.
