It's averaging like 1-2 a day from a wide array of folks - 2nd graders who are usually too cool for school, stylish 20something yoga teachers, middle-aged Tibetan dudes, friends and strangers...it's crazy. This place is horrible. My girlfriend just moved here and was looking for a new salon. I suggested this place seeing I have MANY friends who cut hair downtown but a local salon is always nice. Boy was I wrong. After the salon moved her appointment from 10 to 11 o'clock this morning my girl friend was 15 minutes late. They proceeded to say that the stylist was double booked and she would have to come back at 1pm. Well she can't. Since she was "canceling her appointment" they tried to charge her $115 dollars. What a joke. They moved her appointment time twice and when she couldn't do it they said she was canceling it. They tried to charge the card but I put a stop to it. The salon itself is a warm, friendly, uplifting environment that makes every single client feel welcomed and like you're hanging out with friends - it makes your appointment feel more like a self-care spa day than something to check off a to-do list. They even host funky events for their clients that build such a community vibe. Everyone that works there is unbelievably skilled, talented, and constantly seeking ways to enhance their clients' experience, even though they are the BEST at what they do! LG+Co is a gem, I feel like I am hanging with a group of gal pals whenever I get my hair done. Francesca is an amazing colorist and all around lovely person, as are Linsday (the owner), Mary, and all of the other stylists and assistants. The salon has a fun and uplifting energy, impeccably clean, products are very high quality, and the online booking system makes scheduling multiple appointments fast and easy. Plus, there are flamingos everywhere, what's not to love? While the services do have a higher price point, you absolutely get what you pay for. One of the best blondes around. Before finding Francesca, I dreaded haircuts because and would always leave the salon in tears after a service. Now, I look forward to my appointments and get compliments all of the time! read more

I followed my hairstylist of two years, Taylor, from Judy Jetson to Lindsay Griffin. First of all, if you want a bad ass short haircut, Taylor is your woman. She's a fine precision artist who is extremely laid back and makes you feel at ease, even if you're a giant dork (cough, cough, like me). I have an asymmetric bob with dark red all-over color, and both components of my hair have evolved with her over the time we've known each other. Furthermore, though I walk out paying $140 for both (which, by the way, is a standard price for a high level cut and color, folks) I only get my hair cut two times per year (maybe three) because her cuts grow out like a dream and the color fades in a way that doesn't look skanky. So that's Taylor, who is wonderful. But I am really pleased with her transition to this studio, because it is a really lovely salon with a laid-back atmosphere in an accessible location that is close to home. I've never felt so relaxed while getting my hair styled, and I was pleased with all of my interactions from the FD staff to the other stylists milling about doing their own work. After having such high hopes, I'm really disappointed. The hair color turned so much darker than I expected, it doesn't match my eyes or skin tone. After paying over $160 for hair color and blow dry, had to wash my hair at home in hope of making it less dark. I feel like I'm wearing a wig, as the hair doesn't really look like mine. The color did cover my grey, but I wish I had stayed with my greys and faded color and waited for my regular hair colorist to become available. Poor decision, in my case, alas. read more

I've been using yelp for years, and this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a review. I have curly hair and have gone to a number of local salons (I was a Judy Jetson client for years). But a number of subpar cuts left me wanting something new, and the accolades that LGS has received (eg Best of Boston) + word of mouth convinced me to give them a shot. I called and asked who was good with curly hair and had an opening, and Susan was recommended. She's new at the salon, but curly headed folks should see her immediately. She's an experienced stylist who asks all the right questions and actually listens to what you want. She also clearly explains what's going on with your hair before and after -- she sits you down with coffee and water and talks things out with you before getting started. Also, she's approachable and easy to talk to! Always a plus. For the first time in well over a year, I am actually pleased with my haircut. Definitely going back. UPDATE: I saw Susan frequently until moving away (TRAGIC). My cuts were always amazing and she ended up taking over my color, which always gets compliments. I was excited to try this salon and they called me back to inform me I could be seen the next day at the time I requested as there had been a cancellation. The service was great and staff very friendly, however I was informed a blow dry started at $40 and ended up paying $70 plus tip which I feel is beyond extreme. This yelp review is long overdue, but it always takes me a few weeks to decide if I like my haircuts! I'm picky about my hair --I used to be a colorist, so I have a near phobia about walking into a random salon and getting a trim. I went to Lindsay Griffin Boston Hairstylist + Co. for the first time last Saturday. Prior to this I had been going to the same stylist for the past 4 years, so I was a bit nervous to change it up. Although my previous hairstylist always did a good job cutting my hair, I always felt like she did more of what she wanted and less of what I asked for. I also never cared for her coloring skills so I turned to yelp to find a new place that could not only give me a great cut but an even better color. Lindsey Griffin was what I found. My stylist was Taylor. Before she began anything we spoke for 15 minutes about what I wanted to do. She asked great questions, gave suggestions and really took the time to find out what it was I wanted. Once she felt like she had a good grasp of what I was looking for, she explains the process of how she was going to do it and made me feel really comfortable. We made small talk here and there and but she was pretty quiet during the process. I didn't mind though as she seems very concentrated on what she was doing. In the end I loved my cut and color. She did exactly as we discussed and it came out great. In the few days that have followed I have already gotten tons of compliments. I was there for about 2-2.5 hours between the color and cut but what I really liked was that I didn't feel like it was rushed. Some salons try and get as many people in and out of the door so fast that they barely blow dry your hair before they are pushing you out the door. Not here, Taylor took her time and made sure I was fully happy before I even left her chair. The prices were a little higher then I paid at my previous salon but I am a big believer in you get what you pay for. I felt my cut and color was worth every penny I paid. Note: They except credit cards but tips are cash only. As for the atmosphere of the salons, it was great. Excellent decor, receptionist was very kind and welcoming and a great music playlist going. I also enjoyed the other stylist who were there, they were all very nice. Susan the stylist who was next to Taylor was hilarious, I enjoyed listening to her stories as she was styling another client. All in all I don't think you could go wrong with any of the stylist at this salon and I will definitely be a retuning customer. First of all, this salon is beautiful, modern and has a great atmosphere and energy. I have seen other stylists work while I have been there and they all seem to be doing really wonderful jobs, but this review is specifically for Taylor. I followed Taylor there after seeing her once at Judy Jetson and absolutely loved the cut and color she did on me. When I found out she left, I insanely stalked her and found out she had moved to Lindsay Griffin (which was a huge upgrade!) I have worked in the beauty industry for years and have seen countless stylists and colorists and I can say without a doubt Taylor is an absolute artist in her craft. She can handle anything that is thrown at her (and I throw a lot her way!) She is an amazing colorist and understands what looks best on you and is confident in conveying what she thinks. I change my color drastically and she always does an amazing job all while keeping my hair healthy. As far as her cutting, she is top notch. Watching her cut is also a treat because she is so in her element and it is wonderful to watch someone do what they are made to do. She is a perfectionist and will not stop until you are both happy. Taylor is not only extremely talented, she is easy to talk to, down to earth and an all around lovely person. I highly recommend seeing Taylor. Lindsay was so cool and so much fun to have on my wedding day. She is so flexible and she's able to do any style you want from a photo and quickly! It is incredible! I loved my hair, but my sister's hair stole the show (which is totally fine with me because I was still in the big dress, so I stood out!) She found a picture of Selena Gomez with the hair pulled to the side, and recreated it beautifully! She was also really awesome when my mother in law kept asking for her expertise. Greg cut my hair and did beautiful work! I appreciated how he was open to seeing pictures and really consulting with me beforehand, and then following through with the plan we made together. I wanted a short, stylish, low maintenance cut and that is what I got! I also have kind of thick hair, so getting a short cut is a risky move, but Greg nailed it and I'll definitely go back! I got a haircut from Greg a few months ago, which I liked. When I went to make an appointment for a second cut with him, I learned he was no longer at Lindsay Griffin and I booked an appointment with Susan. She gave me a great haircut and convinced me to try balayage, which is (for the uninitiated) a highlighting technique that uses a brush instead of foils. The idea is that you get lower-maintenance highlights - since they aren't done from the root, you don't have to touch them up as much as a traditional highlight. I don't have much experience with coloring my hair, but I loved the balayage and think Susan did a great job. Also, they recommend product lines like any salon, but they aren't pushy about selling you the stuff. The balayage ended up at $160 before tip...I really have no idea if that's average or what, so I'm giving 3 $$$. read more

But my experience at Lindsay Griffin Boston Hairstylist + Co. has inspired me to come out of my winter cave and shout it to the skies - if you want your hair done right, you'll come here. I booked my appointment painlessly a week ago to see Jessica for a haircut and deep conditioning treatment. I had not touched my mane of brunette hair in over a year and a half, and could probably have passed for a well-dressed chimpanzee. Jess started me off with a glorious deep conditioning treatment that made me feel like I was at a day spa, complete with wonderful herbal aromas and a long massage that my poor wintry scalp desperately needed. I loved that I commented on the products she was using, and she let me know exactly what they were and what she loved about them without pushing the goods on me. The haircut was one of the most easy experiences I've had coming into a hair salon. After asking me some great questions about my hair styling routine, many of which no other stylist has asked me (e.g. what do you find easiest about your hair? what do you find most difficult?), we discussed the cut that I was hoping for, and she set off doing her magic. Conversation was easygoing and never forced, and I had a great time getting to know Jess. By the time I knew it, an hour had flown by and my hair was absolutely fabulous! I finally feel like myself when I look in the mirror, and I have already received two compliments from strangers on my lustrous hair (and it's only 4 pm). In all, I had an amazing time at LGBH + Co. and would not bat my eyelashes at the thought of coming in again soon. Wonderful team! read more

I was part of Leslie's wedding party (previous review) and it was great working with Lindsay. I told her from the beginning, I want a high pony tail with a bump-it. Not a real bump-it, but some crazy height in the front. Lindsay is a rockstar and made me look like fergie-ferg...which is not what I usually look like so it took me some time to get used to my look. I ended up loving it, and truly, it was precisely what I asked for. It looked great all night. I know other girls weren't as certain about what they wanted and she worked with them to come up with good ideas. I first showed up at Lindsay Griffin after a nightmare scenario where a hair colorist gave me 90s style chunky blonde highlights (not a great look when you're a brunette!) Few sessions with Lindsay later and my hair not only rocked, it looked natural and perfect. I've seen Lindsay for years now and she's gone with me through natural highlights, the most perfect balyage I've ever seen, through to rose gold (seriously fun) - all while making it look exactly how I pictured it in my head. The cut is always on point as well making Lindsay my go-to for everything hair related. It helps that she's just a wonderful person I don't mind spending a few hours with every 10 weeks! Saw a great post/recommendation for Susan and her curly-girl experience. Haven't had a haircut in maybe 6-8 months. I have curly, thick, coarse, waist length (mermaid) hair and Susan helped me get it to a nice healthy, more manageable shape. It's still long and luscious! Got curly needs, she's your girl. Great experience. By the way on the website each stylist has a nice little write up. Susan's says she's from Alabama though lacks a southern accent.
