I had extra credits on classpass that i needed to use so i used it for a 45 minute session - 15 shoulder and 30 foot. I booked the reservation through classpass for 1:30 and i came 15 minutes early. I could tell the lady wasn't expecting me until she asked if it was classpass. She overlooked the reservation and asked if I can come later around 2:30. I was able to coordinate with her and came back at 2 for the massage, so tip is if you book through classpass i would call to confirm. The interior is small and there is no privacy for foot massages, only shoulder massages. That didn't bother me though, just something to consider. It was my first time getting a foot massage and i thought i would laugh cuz my foot is ticklish but it was very nice and she was very good at it. The shoulder massage was also good as well. 2.5 Stars I'm glad to see that Mozi's page is better off now than when I first visited them last year -- but I'm kind of disappointed with my last visit here. I was genuinely excited to come back; I hardly ever visit Boston and when I do, I usually don't have the time to get a massage. I used a Groupon and got the Body Work and Reflexology w/ Foot Bath. The body work this time was pretty meh. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either. It wasn't Andy who worked with me this time, and I don't even remember the guy's name; all I remember was that he was older and probably middle-aged. He definitely used too much oil because my hair stuck to my back afterward. Blegh. The reflexology this time around was super mediocre and disappointing. I mean -- it's the reason I came! Even though I was the only person there that day, the man working on me definitely rushed through it. He didn't ask about the pressure or if I needed specific areas to be focused on; he just kind of went through the motions of a foot rub and let me steam afterward. During my foot bath, he left and the water got super hot. Usually, I have an insane tolerance for hot water, but that water was scalding; it actually felt cold, that's how hot it was. It took awhile for me to wave him down and tell him about the water; but all he did was take my feet out of the water and remove the foot bath completely. I hadn't even been soaking for five minutes. After my feet rested/recovered for a bit, he pretty much gave me a bottle of water and rushed me out. I don't know -- it just felt a little disappointing that my two experiences could be so different. I see Groupons for them all the time, so maybe I'll check out Mozi again and ask if Andy is still there; but right now, I'm just feeling a little put-off about the whole thing. read more

They have parking in the back and they are clean. An 1hour foot massage starts with a 15 min backrub, and it's my favorite treatment. Oh Boy! I wish that I could give this place 0 stars! I don't even know where to begin with this place, but I truly hope that you do NOT purchase a Groupon because it is a wonderful price. One of the other reviewers was right on: Find another great deal... there are plenty! I had been experiencing a ton of back pain and tons of tension and had the day off. I decided to treat myself. I called and made an appointment for a 90 minute massage. Here's the lowdown. *The front of this joint has a mirror/shimmery front door instead of a curtain.. or um.. nothing. First mistake: not going with my gut....It was creepy looking from the start! *I went in and they had this notepad scheduling system..the place looked dark and depressing, not zen and comforting. I did not get a positive vibe at all. *I asked to use the restroom and it was downstairs in this dingy, torn up looking basement. It was kind of scary actually. At the very least it was quite unprofessional looking. For a "spa" there was absolutely no decor, color, or anything. There was this huge gaping area where there had once been a shower. *When I came upstairs after the restroom, I went into this "room" where there was a curtain, not a door! A tiny massage room. He told me to take off my clothes and get under the sheet and he would be right back. The headrest was cushioned with a paper towel! Not even a regular towel! Then, the sheet barely fit on me because it was so short. *This guy could not possibly have been licensed because his technique was awful and it seemed really creepy. I started having a huge amount of anxiety. A couple of other reviewers also spoke my exact sentiments! He seemed a little obsessed with the bum. I should have checked to see if he was licensed. He also hopped onto the table with me, I guess to get leverage! So I'm lying on the table and he is on it with me! Multiple times! At one point I told him he could use a bit more pressure and he did it so hard that I had to tell him to stop. I left with bruises..literally..I had bruises! And I don't bruise easily. When he asked me questions and I answered he also told me that he speaks little English. Definite communication barrier. *I asked him if he could do some work on my neck/head as I have been having some headaches and tons of tension. He started doing it and his nails were digging into me! * At one point, another employee poked his head into the curtain to talk to the guy who was massaging me. I felt kind of vulnerable. When he told me to turn over so he could work on me face up and he left the room, I was so filled with anxiety and tension that I got up, put my clothes on and left... the massage was not done, but I felt exposed and vulnerable and did not like the idea of being face up (and possibly having him jump back onto the table with me!) Anyway, it was really upsetting and not worth the Groupon. I will be contacting groupon. I wonder if place has ever even been certified by the board of health? I wonder if this massage therapist is licensed? Can he practice massage unlicensed? I, too, usually do tons of investigation and check reviews on Yelp. For some reason I did not this time. Sure, the decor is a little outdated and it doesn't have the tranquil ambiance of a fancy upscale spa, but overall I thought it was great. I've been to several body work and reflexology places. I got a gift for a 90 minute combo. They do what I call an 'asian style' massage which is normal to get a massage over a sheet/towel then the normal body rub. And it's normal for them to go on the bed!! I see reviews where people freak out but that's just a different way of massage. I've had it several times in different states. And the curtain Isn't weird either. Anyways, first was a 30 minute body work. It was okay just a lot of pressing down over the sheet, effleurage (rubbing) and then some petrissage (beating) at the end. The woman I had was decent with the pressure. But it was nothing too special. I felt like she needed more flow. After the body work, I was sat down in the chairs and soaked my foot in some lukewarm water for about 10 minutes. I wish it was warmer. Borderline cold. The foot massage/reflexology was for 30 minutes. I am used to massage therapists who use way more pressure but like I said this lady was decent. No bruises. The last part was a 30 minute foot steam. This I've never had! Pretty cool. It got quite hot but I like it. I don't think the average person could handle it. The receptionist guy was nice and kept checking on me. I went in for my 90 min combo Groupon today. After my body work, foot reflexology and steam, I cannot understand the negative reviews. Yes, there is a language barrier with my masseur, Michael, but once he understood what I was looking for, he worked hard to make my experience very pleasant and enjoyable. Yes, the decor is not luxurious, no fancy decor, fruit juices etc. It has a very simple layout of comfy loungers in a dimly light room. Not DARK, but dim as who wants bright lights in one's face for a massage? The massage rooms are tiny and has only a curtain, that is true. But seriously that actually made me feel safer when I found out my masseur was male! I did not feel uncomfortable with any untoward attention to my private parts, even when he got on the massage bed to work on my lower back. A surprising move I would say! The massage had quite a few painful moments but that was at my request as I wanted a hard, full strength knot breaking massage. I had experienced such massages in Asia where it would hurt like hell during but after everything is loose and good. You will ache the next few days, but that is to be expected. I guess I have massages to help me loosen up all the work I put my body through, I had lotion used on my back, and was asked often if the pressure was OK. A nice hot towel was used to wipe off my back at the end of the body work. The foot soak was quick, and he spent a good long 40 mins on my feet. Yes, painful again as I asked for it! It was really weird that certain pressure points made my face warm up! Actually this foot reflexology was less painful than the one I had in Vegas, which brought me to tears on a few moves. Then a long steam, where he came back twice to check on me to see if the heat was hot enough. Then a quick wipe down, a quick rub down with lotion. What a relaxing 90 mins! I was really, really relaxed later at home after dinner. I have the after massage glow, my body temp feels higher than normal. I will return and ask for the same masseur. I can see that he takes pride in his work, focusing on my feet. I can hear him breathing hard from exertion as he worked on my back.! I feel he really took care of me. If you do go, please go in with realistic expectations. It is a mom & pop operation. I had purchased a 90 minute bodywork and foot massage package and ended up asking for the reflexology only, based on reviewers' negative massage experiences. I'm glad I did and I will likely return. Setting: What the heck are you people complaining about with the setting?! It's not a 5 star hotel spa, but it's quite comfortable, gently lit, quiet, and clean. Much more attractive than I was expecting from reviews. Sure, they keep it sanitary with slightly-worse-for-wear-towels and they lug around buckets for foot soaking. But it's also wicked cheap, comparable to other places in the area. Service: Fabulous. From accommodating a last-minute reservation request, to accepting my shift of desired services upon arrival, to the treatment itself, it was all so nice. It is true that only a couple people there can do more than exchange the basics in English, and this was a bit annoying when I was trying to communicate a particular discomfort at one point. Reflexology: Next time, I might ask for more pressure where possible, but wow, it felt amazing. The woman working with me was capable and strong and was definitely adjusting her technique to particularly tense or sensitive areas as she went. They ended my session with a 30-minute "steam" session, a makeshift portable sauna that left me looking a bit like a boiled lobster from the knees down. It felt great. This is a weird thing to say, but I felt like I smelled worse afterwards and the way it felt was like it really had pulled toxins out of me. I've visited Mozi three (3) times now. During each visit I had the same service performed - the 60 minute foot spa & bath. This was a Groupon deal. I found the spa to be clean, an extremely relaxing milieu with piano music playing and a small water stream running in the background. These service started out with back work and arm work, then I was seated with a comfortable & warm blanket in a very relaxing chair while my feet and legs were worked on. The staff was professional, well trained in their craft and I haven't felt this relaxed and at peace in a very long time. I always like to check out groupon when I'm in a new area and found myself wanting some pampering after my first week here in the Boston area and the 90 minute groupon seemed to be the right service for the right price. A recurring theme in my leisure time is difficulty finding parking and this was no exception. I had treated myself to steak and left my car in the parking lot there and walked down the block to my appointment, but have no idea where I would have parked otherwise. I arrived at my appointment an hour early and had seen that walk ins were welcome so I wasn't worried. I was greeted like a welcome friend by the lady at check in and was taken to a private area for my massage. I was instructed to take off my shirt and lay face down on the table. It appeared to be a normal massage table covered in towels and blankets, with a paper towel covering the area where you lay your face. After a moment or two, the gentleman performing the massage came in and got to work. He covered me with a sheet and performed the bodywork over the sheet, not using any lotions or creams. The massage was quite pleasant to be honest. I get regular massages and wasn't really expecting much, so it was a surprise. After the half hour massage, I was told to put my shirt back on and then escorted to a chair. My feet were placed in a warm bucket of water. While they were soaking, the massage room was turned over for the next guest. The half hour massage was very nice too. It was a nice moderate pressure and very relaxing. The steam wasn't my favorite. The position of the steam chamber became uncomfortable after about 10 minutes and 10 more after that, the steam was just too hot and I ended up taking my legs and feet out. I'd like to go back and try the hour accupressure foot massage. But, I need to do a little more research on the parking situation first. read more

I had a 90-minute Swedish massage with Andy, and it was hands down, the best massage I've ever experienced. I thought I had received a great massage last winter when I spent a fortune at a ridiculously posh 5-star resort in Zermatt, Switzerland. Pffft. This guy Andy blew that massage therapist out of the water. He learned his techniques at a massage school in L.A., he told me. I also like the vibe of Mozi. It's immaculately clean with that quiet, darkish spa feel with the spa music thing going. The front desk receptionist Ray is very gracious, sweet, and accommodating. He offered me complementary bottled water both when I arrived and upon leaving (and Chinese candy!). And they don't make you fill out 10 minutes worth of tedious paperwork on your first visit, either. I don't know much about Asian foot reflexology but I will go back and try that massage and the "foot steam" too. This place is adorable. First off - I was impressed that the very nice man at teh front desk let me ;split' it - I used it for a 30 minute back massage and a 30 minute food massage. Although the place isn't fancy, it is normal for a 'mom and pop' regular asian massage place. I thought the lady did a good job on me (yes, she used lotion) but I read another review here that her nails were too long and I agree - it was weird and once hurt for a sec. - but other than that - I'd say if you are good with no frills, come here. I did not get a massage but rather just rubbed and inappropriately no less. The guy hurt me by massaging my spine. He then had no idea to massage my neck and kept rubbing the bones. Third he got on top of me, which I have never had done. It was horrible. I wish I had read the reviews prior to going. I will be reporting them to Groupon. And I have had many lovely massages and experiences through Groupon. I do not recommend this at all. I thought it was fine because there were people getting foot massages when I walked in. Just going to throw out there for anyone, apparently bodywork also means ALL the body parts. Usually massage therapists carefully fold the sheet as to only expose the parts of you they are massaging. Mine completely forsook the sheet and I was a$$-up exposed on the bed. Then she had me turn on my back and went ahead and massage all parts of my front, save my bikini bottom area. It was dark and seemed deserted. I've had a massage or two a year for the past 10 years, so this isn't just a newbie being paranoid. The guy who gave my hot stone massage must've been the same weirdo that the other reviewers had. He kept rubbing long strokes down my back and down my butt. His breath smelled like onions. It was the most anxiety ridden hour of my life. I kept thinking about how quickly I could grab my phone if he got any more friendly. I've never had a hot stone massage (just normal ones), so I don't know how it was supposed to be, but he did the creepy rub thing for 35 minutes and then put the hot stones on my back over and over for 20 minutes. The reflexology was amazing, I have some chronic nerve issues in my feet and this helped more than anything I've ever tried. Totally wonderful. The foot steam bath is incredibly relaxing, I loved it. The bodywork - this was really one of the best bodywork experiences I've ever had.
