This place was amazing!!! Local bar and great food! I am from California and came here to eat with my parents. We were looking to have fish and chips for dinner. Overall not only was the fish n chips super delicious but it came in an enormous portion. They basically gave us 2 whole fish. I ordered the prime rib and it was the best prime rib I had ever ate. I ordered it medium and it was cooked perfect with a fascinating flavor. The juices of the prime rib mixed with my mashed potatoes was to die for. This place is a must check out!! The restaurant had a bar and also had places to sit and have a meal. When we drove up the parking lot was packed. When we walked in the bar it was packed as well but we were seated immediately. We couldn't have asked for a better waitress. She was super friendly, great personality, and very attentive. Lindy's is a great place. Everything I've had is very good. Portions are huge and a steal at the prices they charge. The only reasons I can't give 5 stars is the temperature and the noise level. There is not a time or a day that I am not craving Lindy's. Everything is always fresh and the servings are always huge and of course the prices are unbeatable! However, I am not the only one that knows about this little gem, so don't be surprised if there is a wait during normal eating times or on the weekends. They had me at coleslaw. I mean, they've got a decent beer selection for an out-of-the-way dive, cool drink specials, friendly bartenders, and a general happy, cheers-esque atmosphere. Can't beat the prices, either. It's straight-up cheap. Get some fish and chips or a burger. Have a beer and watch some random sporting event on TV. Expect a wait--it's more bar than restaurant, and if you're smart, you'll skip the "dining room" half of the place and belly on up to said bar. And hot damn do they make a mean coleslaw. I'll reserve the chance for a four star upgrade on my next visit. The night I headed over was cold and snowy, so naturally it was packed! I've heard the wait can be long and tiring...luckily I quickly spotted two seats at the bar and jumped on them! The bar has a huge selection of beers both bottled and on tap, liquor and assorted wines. Naturally I went with my standard and got an ice cold Stella - it was kind of the gal to ask if I'd like a glass to go with it. On to the food, the food was hot and fresh! I went with the steak tips and potatoes [mashed] they had the option for a backed potato which could later be a possible choice. Would definitely go under the category for "home cooked meal" - the food was something like a nice dinner you's have with family. Except in a bar - so much better ha! The steak was cooked to my perfect style and marinated perfectly. The mashed potatoes were delish! Seems like they were seasoned with garlic and added a nice extra flare. The soup that came with it was hot and tasty, I wish I had room to have eaten everything! I'd definitely return here with the hopes of scoring another good seat and avoiding the long wait time. I was sitting at home wondering what to do on a fine day like today and decided I wanted seafood. After about 30 minutes hunting places online, and going through the old haunts w've gone to before I happened on a place named "Lindy's Tavern" here on yelp. Never having been there let alone seen the place, and its 5 minute distance I wondered what the heck. All the reviews were positive so why not. I AM GLAD I DID. This place might not look like alot from the outside except for a biker bar hole in the wall, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let that fool you. You can go in through the side or the front, and its got maybe 10 or a bit more tables and a bar area. The wait staff is very courteous, and helpful, and are attentive to you. We ordered drinks and they gave my son a cloring placemat and crayons, and came over with a complimentary basket of fresh buttered poopcorn that was popped as we watched. He was so happy and behaved well thanks to that alone. We ordered a seafood platter and pasta with meatballs for my son which came with fries also. His plate was a very generous size, and had 2 huge homemade meatballs with a sauce you'd die for. My and my wifey ordered a seafood platter, and were beside ourselves with not only the size of it, quality content(more seafood than fries), and absolute deliciousness. The breading was a thin but very crispy style that clug to the food beautifully and was incredible on its own, but the seafood was just insane. Scallops were small but they sure put in alot of them, damn they were so good. The fish was a monster. Tender, moist, but not dry, onion rings were phenomenal, and just plain awesome. NOTHING WAS OILY. I hate clams and coleslaw, and talked the waitress easily into switching the bellies to clam strips even though she assured me the bellies were very clean and recommended. When it came out i immediately tried the clams strips and coleslaw to see if it was any good. I might not like them but i try them anyway just incase...............They were the very first things that disappeared on the platter. OMG were they soooo good. Homemade slaw that wasn't to wet nor dry...just right, and next time im trying the bellies for a change. I guess i now love slaw and clams...lol We had 2 rounds of drinks, and we all had a dessert which was substancial and very inexpensive. A fudge Sunday with a huge scoop, whip cream nuts and sprinkles was only 1.99. Our total bill $42 and change. We're going back tomorrow after work. I sure hope it isn't busy. The town regulars were getting seated before us and once we finally got seated, the server waited on tables that had just sat down instead of us who had been waiting. Great value for the money Atmosphere: make no mistake this is a hole in the wall/dive bar. If you hate corporate chains this is your place Service: Hour wait to get in, hostess communicated regularly but they seated our party at two separate tables even though the tables were next to each other we could pull them together for whatever reason. THE PRICE OF THREE CHICKEN WINGS.... (Ridiculous moment #10,349 - yes there have been that many). My partner and I were greeted by a friendly bartender as we sat at the bar. She let us sample a couple of draft beers before deciding upon one. Beer was decided and I ordered a mixed drink instead. She took our order. I wasn't that hungry so my partner and I shared 10 chicken wings which were on special at 50 cents each. He ordered a meal and upsized it for onion rings. We ate about 7 wings when I had my fill and my partner's meal arrived. Our bartender checked in on us and I ask that the three remaining chicken wings be wrapped to take home. She said, "no you can't take those home. You have to eat them here. It's our policy". I was actually really stunned. I was ready to just leave, without the wings, and call it a night, but instead we asked her to get the manager and she said that he wasn't there. She left the bar and then we were told by the other bartender that, although she didn't hear the "drama" she said our bartender went to get the general manager. Huh???. So back and forth with the general manager about how absurd it was to penalize well paying customers wanting to take home a doggy bag of wings that they will pay for, because of a ridiculous policy. We get that if a customer ordered 10 wings and wanted to leave with 8, that might be perceived as taking advantage - kind of like the customer at a Chinese buffet who sits there for hours gnawing on Alaskan King Crab Legs. So after some brouhaha, we left with a small container with three perfectly fried chicken wings that we purchased for a $1.50. Absurd, I know. You're probably asking what did these three wings really cost? Cost of the 3 Chicken Wings - $1.50 Cost to the Customers - $1.50 plus turning a very good experience into a pretty bad one. Cost to the Bartender - Not a very good tip plus and an unpleasant end to her evening General Manager - Didn't cost him a penny - not sure he really cared. Cost to the Owners - 2 unhappy customers who will probably not spend any more money in their establishment plus an unfavorable YELP review. I guess the lesson learned here is that across-the-board policies sometimes don't work. Each situation should be assessed individually with commonsense. Further, managers should empower their employees to make reasonable decisions based on the situation, in order to keep customers returning. read more

Fucking shit show. No one knows what they are doing. The waitress can't even take a minute to care for their tables. Management is extremely rude. According to management it's okay to serve some pregnant blue cheese with a baked potato because "they all look the same". They don't.... they don't even have the same color. Lindy's is the Rudy of Northern RI bars. Its small in size (only about 8 tables and the bar), beloved by the locals, and overlooked by people outside of the general area. But like Rudy it has a lot of dedication and heart. The food is great, the beer is cheap and free flowing, and the owner tries his best to keep his prices reasonable. I have never had a bad meal here. They have your standard pub appetizers, sandwiches, and a few set dinners but where they shine is the seafood. They have hands down some of the best seafood in Northern RI if not the state and for some of the best prices. They have lobster and steamers year round, excellent seafood chowder, and stuffies to name a few. On top of this they have different specials throughout the week the most popular one is the Prime Rib dinner which I think is on Fridays. Definitely give it a shot you wont be disappointed. You can get a good meal here that wont break the bank. Just a word of warning its hard to get a table at peak hours so plan accordingly. read more

I got takeout from Lindy's once and it was really really good. I got the fried clams and my mom got the turkey club and we both really enjoyed it. Why the 3 stars? I can NEVERRRR get in this place!! Bar food was what the belly asked for and after driving by Lindy's twice in two weeks, I decided to make a go at it. The wait was not too long and knowing seats were at a premium, the wait better be worth it. The place is filled with regulars who love their seafood , from fish and chips to the connoisseur of all things clams, mussels, scallops, etc. we sat down got our menus, paged through the four pages of appetizers, lunch, sandwiches, burgers, seafood choices. (Note to the staff, the type on the menus is a bit light, might want to bold it up a little?). I chose the rib eye steak special, my friend ordered a chicken cordon blue sandwich, as an appetizer we had buffalo wings, nice and spicy! The meanwhile, the place was getting busier and plates of seafood were psssing me by. I may have made a mistake ordering the rib eye, but there is always next time. Great food, staff is meh. I've been here a few times, once with my soccer team. It was a Thursday evening around 8:30. There were two empty tables that we asked if we could push together, and the hostess looked at us like we had three heads. They made us sit at the two tables (NOT pushed together), which was odd. Empty glasses weren't removed, so when they brought out our food--all a bunch of apps we were splitting--they just stood there with our food while we tried to juggle empties to make room. That being said, the food is great. I've heard amazing things about their prime rib, but every time we've gone for it, there was almost a 2-hour wait. (We have kids, there's no waiting 2 hours for food). It's definitely a dive bar with legit regulars, and when a "newbie" shows up, the whole bar stares at you like you just landed on Planet Earth. not a kid friendly place, most tables are bar stool height. there are a few lower sitting tables which we had to wait an hour for since I had my 3 yr old with me and she obviously can't sit in a bar stool. prices are reasonable. I had the fish and chips however, most of the plate was batter rather than fish, and the batter was very heavy and greasy. I wouldn't order it again.
