    Apple Tart Tatin Pancakes
    Oscar L.

The food here was pretty good! My friends and I came on the weekend for brunch. The apple tart tatin pancakes were very fluffy and filling. The lingo beef pie, although kinda expensive at $43, was well seasoned and juicy, would recommend! In terms of sides, the Hokkaido milk bread was fluffy and light, and that parm butter made it exceptionally tasty. Service was quick. The restaurant inside is also very well decorated. There's a little outdoor seating in the back that is covered overhead.

Here only to review ambiance, cocktail and happy hour.... I had been recommended to stop in by a bartender that usually works the Thursday night (he had been at another local bar on the day his restaurant was closed). Although that bartender wasn't there... the one who remained carefully crafter my cocktail with attention to detail and precision. I ordered a shiny remedy 12$ (happy hour) and was blown away by how delicious this cocktail was... fresh ginger was almost the art if the show but was delicate enough to not overpower this cocktail. Friendly staff and a beautiful bar... I look forward to returning to try the food! Patio was open (pleasant surprise). Cant wait to return!

We came back to Lingo to try their dinner menu because we enjoyed the brunch so much. Turns out they have a set menu option ($38) on Thursdays, so we ordered the Grilled Wild Ramp and Corn Donabe Rice and the Fish of the Day (which was Miso Cod). The set also came with a Gem and Chrysanthemum Salad, and Japanese pickled Vegetables. Outside the set menu, we ordered the Tako Wasa Octopus Carpaccio ($19) and Wild Caught Black Sea Bass ($37). The a la carte items we ordered were the stars of the meal. Wow. The octopus carpaccio had a great combination of tart, sweet, and freshness. and the black bass was fried perfectly, I made sure the clean the bones of that fish from head to toe! The staff continues to be very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend Lingo.

Beautiful space with delicious food - my partner and I especially liked the bone marrow dish & weekend special stew. The curry in the pie would have benefited from some rice on the side since it was a bit heavy to eat solo without any carbs to soak it up. I also really enjoyed their take on pb&j w sesame in the dessert! We'll be back to try other dishes here. For logistics, it was hard to call in for a reservation last minute - no one answered the phone but there were lots of seats available when we showed up on a Friday night so it all worked out. Later on into the meal, I received an automated text asking if I tried to make a reservation. There was also a decent amount of street parking nearby (for those who are driving over)

Cute little restaurant in Greenpoint! A group of us 3 were here on a Wed night and shared everything: - Hokkadio milk bread - Fuyu burrata - Bone marrow tartare - Miso black cod - Snow crab udon - Duck - Lingo beef pie - Squash and sage rice Everything was plated beautifully and tasted great. The beef pie could definitely use a side of rice since it's pretty rich and savory. Service was great and super attentive throughout the night. This is definitely on the pricier side though, given the portion sizes. We each got one drink (1 being a yuzu soda), and total after tax & tip came out to $320ish. I'd definitely come back to check out their brunch menu.

Lingo is a really solid brunch spot that mixes American and Japanese. The menu has a good range of both sweet and savory options, so no matter what you're in the mood for, you'll probably find something that hits the spot. Being able to take a bite of their really delicious duck sando, and finishing with their pancake really made it a satisfying experience. Overall, everything I had was simple, comforting, and genuinely enjoyable. The service was very attentive throughout the meal. And the interior is simple but still put-together. It was not too casual and not too fancy which i really appreciate! Overall would recommend! Tldr; good range of savory to sweet on the menu, great service, and cute interior

Authentic and modern Japanese cuisine! Perfectly fine dining welcomes you to the beautiful experience. The bar counter is absolutely gorgeous. The host lady was really sweet Japanese. It was Wednesday around 7pm. Such a cozy environment. Cute for girls night or date. I appreciate they have Japanese whiskys. You must try Akashi one! Hokkaido Milk bread is a great starting. Shungiku and Watercross salad was so flavorful. Mentai Pasta is so creamy and you can topping Uni too ;) I would love to come back for more meals!

Rice - nice crust, flavors ok

Came with a party of 5, we ordered 7 items from the "food" section, 3 sides, and 4 desserts. Portions are very small. I would say you probably need at least 2 main courses per person. Most of the group left hungry but there was nothing else on the menu that peaked our interest. Highlights: bone marrow steak tartare, black sea bass! Would definitely get these items again. The bone marrow was a nice pairing with the steak tartare and sea bass was cooked well with a crispy layer outside and soft in the center, paired with a nice bed of carbs. The hokkaido milk bread, lingo meat pie, short rib (weekend only item), country pate, donabe rice, mille feuille potato were alright. Overall flavors were pretty mild/ not outstanding. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out. The meat pie was so watery it was essentially a soup with a pie crust on top. Nice presentation but flavors just ok. For this price point, I was expecting more things to be great. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is quick and friendly.

Such a lovely dinner - perfect for date nights and catch ups. Service was great and the food was spot on to what I expected. The atmosphere is nice too (you can dress up or down and be alright). I will be dreaming of the short rib (not the beef pie). Who would've thought wasabi + short rib + mushrooms = match made in heaven. 4 of us ordered: -Hokkaido Milk Bread (10/10) -Ebi Bisque Chawanmushi (8/10 - love chawanmushis and this was on par with others, nothing too extraordinary but still delicious) -Grilled Caraflex Cabbage (7/10 - hard to cute and share with a group) -Crispy Potato Mille-Feuille (9/10 - you can order another one cause it comes with 3pc usually) -Weekend Special Niku Shortrib Jaga (1000000000000/10 went on Saturday - it was a short rib with wasabi and oh my god I wanted to lick my plate clean) -Kamo A L'Yuzu (8/10 - it was way too small to share so we all had a tiny bite, but a mighty flavorful tiny bite) -Lingo Beef Pie (8/10 - I think it needs more of the crispy flaky dough because it ate very soupy and hard to share) Meh: -One bathroom stall for the entire restaurant right in the middle of the kitchen, so waiting is kinda awk but not their fault it's just a point of notice -Would pass on the cabbage and get something else next time 10000% would be back!

Cute Japanese spot in Greenpoint with a great back patio! We recently stopped in for weekend brunch on the patio. It was hard to decide what to order, as there were a lot of dishes and sides that sounded good. We settled on the Japanese breakfast set, miso cod sando, and one apple tart tatin pancake. It ended up being a lot of food! The breakfast set was our favorite dish. It included grilled kalbi short rib, rice, tsukemono, miso soup, onsen egg, and braised kale. The short rib was cooked perfectly and not tough. The other items were great as well. The miso cod sando came with fries. The sandwich was tasty and a unique take on a sandwich. The apple tart tatin pancake was very sweet and could have been a dessert. The pancake was fluffy though. I would get the sauce on the side next time. Need to come back for dinner next time!

Made a brunch resy for 11:30a on a Sun and we were seated immediately. It's a small, but sleek restaurant with friendly service. I believe there were some tables outside, but I did enjoy the inside seating. We ordered everything to share but our highlights were the lingo beef pie and the apple tart tatine pancakes! The beef pie was very flavorful, but we wished we had some rice with it. The pancake tasted like an apple pie and was fluffy and sweet. The hokkaido milk bread wasn't amazing and a little salty for some reason, but good to get as a little side as well as the salad & typhoon potato. Overall, we'd like to come back to try this spot for dinner as well!

I came here for brunch with my family on a Sunday, and it was amazing! I loved the matcha latte bc it was so creamy and sweet. I also enjoyed the iced tea, but I didn't love the coffee because it had a sour taste (I know that's a personal preference). I'd recommend getting the Japanese breakfast set. Everything in the set was done so well! My sister also enjoyed the American breakfast with the thick-cut bacon. 100% would recommend this place.

Food/drinks: came here for dinner - short rib was really good!!! Wouldn't get country pate again & bone marrow tartare was good but portion was very small (4 pieces of seaweed) Really want to come back for their brunch though Atmosphere: very cute inside, love the interior design Service: good service! Price: $$$ especially for the portions

Do they allow dogs in the restaurant?

I'm pretty sure they don't, since normal NYC health regulations don't allow non-service animals into restaurants. Best to check directly with the restaurant.

He ordered the Honey roasted duck ramen and I ordered the spicy salmon miso ramen. Before our ramen came out, we ordered our drinks which were a Thai Iced Tea (can't go wrong with that) and he ordered the Lychee Iced Tea. For apps we had the Veggie Spring Rolls and the Edamame which were so crunchy with just the right touch of salt. We may have visited on a slower day since it was raining, but I can tell that it is a popular eatery and can get busy and packed. We lucked out and were seated immediately and didn't wait long for our food. The server kept refilling our water glasses which was much appreciated. I thought my cup was half full and i'd look up and all of a sudden theres even more water poured. Overall it was a cute restaurant and would be perfect for a lunch. Although we had ramen, they have an extensive menu. Check them out!
