The THAI BASIL was the ONE it had a unique taste that you don't expect when eating crawfish but it tf WORKS. Let's get into these eggs. They were just past ramen eggs. What a great dining experience! This was my first time here. I was heading into heavy rush-hour…read moretraffic, so I decided to avoid it and stop to have a good meal before heading home. This restaurant definitely aims to please. I was being very specific about what I wanted for my ribeye steak tonight; waitress Jessie was awesome and listened carefully to my requests. And then to make sure that I was absolutely happy, she brought Chef Kenneth to the table to discuss what I was looking for. Kenneth returned from the kitchen with three beautiful-looking ribeye steaks and we discussed which one would give me the best dining experience. He does some of the butchering himself so he knew exactly what I was looking for. I ended up being served the most fabulous Wagyu steak I've had in a very long time. Unlike the other steaks that can have a seasoning on them, the Wagyu is just salt and pepper and then is served with a beautiful compound butter slathered all over it. They make that butter in-house and it has wine and shallots and bone marrow and other wonderful stuff. Trust me, it's amazing! I ordered extra on the side and poured that all over the top of the steak. Delicious!! Sometimes little things count and it was served with grilled onion that was tasty. I could have had a side of mashed potatoes or asparagus, but I decided to treat myself and try the mac-n-cheese instead. Half of that food was my lunch the next day, so I left enough room for dessert, where my choice was the apple pie bread pudding with cinnamon roll ice cream. That was nice and moist and I enjoyed it. Overall, this was a really great dining experience and I'm so glad that bad traffic gave me the excuse to come here. Will definitely plan a return visit!!

Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially to try the steaks next time.

Since it was Mother's Day, there were more tables than usual making the dining space tight and hard to maneuver for the guests and staff. Danny quickly took our drink orders and then our food orders. They had a special menu for Mother's Day, and still offered their full menu as well. We opted for the chargrilled oysters and deviled eggs with shrimp for appetizers, scallops, ettoufe , and asparagus with jumbo lump crab for entrees. All the food was still the excellent quality provided on many of my visits. Half way through the meal and prior to our entrees coming, a party of 8 arrived and I asked if we could move to a vacant table along the back windows to give the group more space and the staff graciously accommodated us and helped us move. Great service, excellent food and drinks.

I didn't recall anything bad about the place, and given the rave reviews since then, I thought it was time to return. Based on reviews, we showed up early on a Friday evening (~5 pm). Even at that time, it was mostly full, but we were able to snag seats at the bar, which is first come first serve. We ordered the "regular" grilled oysters (5/5), which were anything but regular, as they were topped with peanuts and a really great flavor. I'd get these again. Fair warning, these take 20 minutes to come out, which I didn't mind, but I did not realize that they would not bring us anything else until after the oysters since these are considered an app. I thought they'd just bring things out as they were ready. This meant, we did not get our crawfish until we were already sitting there for an hour. About halfway into the wait for the crawfish (after the oysters), the fried rice (1/5) showed up, and I have to say, it was underwhelming. It came out room temperature, which to me is cold, and I thought this was just how they do it. Except 15 minutes later, the seats next to us got their fried rice, and it came out piping hot. You could still see the steam coming off of it. Besides being cold, I didn't think the fried rice was that good in terms of flavor. I also generally prefer the short grain rice, and this was more of a long grain. Once the crawfish showed up, we were well past an hour, so we dove right into it. Both the garlic butter and combo mix were great flavor - some of the best I've had in Houston. However.... it made me remember why we did not return. About 20% of the crawfish were TINY. And by tiny, I mean they were smaller than my pinky finger. Maybe I'm a crawfish snob, but at this time of the season, there should not be that many tiny crawfish. Maybe a few small ones, but not tiny. Crawfish flavor = 5+/5, crawfish quality = 2/5, crawfish cook = 3/5. Then I made the mistake of ordering a cluster of snow crab. That took another 30+ min to come out, and it was again room temperature. The service at the bar was fine (4/5), but the kitchen service (1/5) is not something I want to experience again, especially not for the crawfish quality/size. Yes, the flavor was amazing, but I'm not fighting for a table for lukewarm food and 30 min wait time for each dish. The pricing was some of the lowest I've seen ($8.99/lb crawfish), but I'd rather pay $1 more at other places for the quality.

I would come back here, especially with friends or family who like oysters or fresh fish dishes. The prices are reasonable. I stopped by on a late Saturday afternoon. They were not busy. Four or five other tables were occupied. Here's the thing...if a customer orders a soup/bisque and a half-dozen buttery grilled oysters-- they should be offered some bread or crackers. I shouldn't have to ask for some borderline stale saltines. And...once my plates and beverage have been cleared, I shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes for the server to come back and ask if I'm ready for the check!?!?! Yes! What else are we doing!?! Then I had to stop the server from immediately running off once she dropped the check! Just rubbed me the wrong way.

We visited Babin's Seafood House in Katy today as an alternative since Landry's Seafood House in Katy has closed, and unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences we've had. We arrived around 3 PM on a Friday expecting to take advantage of the lunch menu and happy hour, which is normally offered at that time. However, we were told by the hostess that neither was available. What was frustrating was not just the policy itself, but the lack of clear explanation -- it was only vaguely mentioned that it was due to a holiday, with no real effort to clarify or accommodate. Service throughout the meal was very poor. Our waters were never refilled, and our server was largely inattentive. It felt like we were being overlooked rather than taken care of. The biggest issue came with the food. We specifically ordered seafood dishes due to the Lent season-- specifically it being Good Friday, only to find sausage included in the seafood jambalaya. When we brought this up, the response from the server --" i'm absolutely sure there's no sausage in your dish" and made it seem like we were the problem, rather than addressing the mistake. Nonetheless, the was sausage in the dish and a manager did come by and offered to replace the dish, but even that felt reluctant -- more like an inconvenience than an attempt to make things right. To make matters worse, what was supposed to be a casual lunch turned into an $96 bill for a family of four, without the quality of service or experience to justify it. This was especially disappointing because we've been coming here as a family for years and have generally had good experiences. As a Landry's Select Club member for over 10 years, this was easily one of the worst experiences we've had at any Landry's restaurant. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we do not see ourselves returning to this location anytime soon.
