I show him the picture I took of the brake line which looks intact and has no leaks, and he keeps insisting the thread is broken. Then in the middle of this his maintenance guy comes in and says he simply put the "bolt" back in and everything's good to go. Awkward. Then he's trying to get me to pay $190 to flush my brakes and says there's no way to know if theres a leak until my brakes get flushed. What??? Of course I don't do it and take my car to another more reputable shop to get the brakes checked just to make sure, and they tell me everything looks good. I can't say with certainty he was deliberately trying to scam me, but he's obviously giving tons of WRONG INFORMATION that could've cost me hundreds if not thousands of dollars while banking on me not knowing much about cars. On top of all that - after looking at the invoice I see they charge a 4% CREDIT CARD PAYMENT fee but didn't mention a single word about it. Not only is 4% MORE than what they have to pay for their own processing but not properly disclosing it or giving me an option to pay with cash or debit seems to border on ILLEGAL according to state laws. Instead of them saying no we can't do that by 5pm, they said they would have to keep the car overnight, but they could give me a loaner car at no extra cost. I had no idea that was a thing. Maybe that service is standard practice, but I've never been offered that before. Way better than waiting for a shuttle ride too, which is usually one of the mechanics when they have time. So the five stars is mostly for how they handled everything: with kind service, accommodation and a can-do attitude. Check out and getting the loaner car was a breeze. In terms of value, I knew of one other place that my partner had been to for four new tires and four pressure sensors that would have been $200 cheaper out the door, but they were further away, did not offer shuttle or a loaner car, and with the good customer service provided here, I was willing to pay a little more. I had Jay come do a Prepurchase Inspection for a 2007 Toyota Tundra at Premier Motors in Hayward…read more The cost was $240 and he showed up at the time he agreed upon. He was very thorough, did a computer check, thorough check under the truck and on the engine, and test drive, and was able to see that a light had been replaced, rust had been painted over, a previous accident/damage had occurred that was not on the CarFax, the rear differentials were leaking and needed replacement, and there were some small leaks in the engine as well that would require future repair as well (along with other smaller things). There was at least $2500 worth of work that would have to be done to be safe to tow immediately and about $4000 total of work within a year. He thought the truck was overpriced at $17,900 with the fixes needed. I tried to negotiate the price for these fixes and the dealer would not budge a single cent. They were obviously not used to a mechanic checking out their trucks. He saved me $4000 worth of fixes on an overpriced truck so walked away. Very honest guy and highly recommend.
