The Brandermill area has its share of Chinese restaurants, ranging from tiny mom 'n' pops to larger, traditional establishments. While the food at these eateries is generally good, it's pretty standard stuff. I had been patiently waiting for Lin's to open up to provide an alternative, and thankfully, it has. I recently stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Although located in a strip mall, the interior is nicely appointed, a definite step above most small Asian restaurants. I ordered the lunch combo and had my choice of egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour soup. I chose the latter and ordered a lunch portion of yellow chicken curry. The soup was excellent---both hot and sour and full of tofu strips. The chicken curry was outstanding. I was expecting the usual chunks of chicken and a few vegetables in a thick curry sauce over jasmine rice. What I received was more like a curry soup: strips of cooked white meat chicken with cubed potatoes, peas, and a few peanuts swimming in a curry sauce that tasted of coconut, red pepper and a touch of sweetness. The accompanying "fried rice" was actually cooked brown rice on the side. By itself, it had no flavor but I mixed it into my curry and it absorbed all the wonderful flavors. The menu for Lin's promises Thai, typical Chinese and sushi, and I can't wait to sample the menu. Prices are reasonable and I'm hopeful that the location, menu and good food will make Lin's a success. Update: We continue to come to Lin's and continue to be big fans. The Tom Yun soup, Mongolian Beef, Sa Cha Beef, Szechuan Beef (can you tell I like beef?) are uniformly excellent. I like the way Lin's vegetables are julienned, much better than the whole vegetables most places toss in. Business is picking up and yet they service continues to be excellent. I received an unidentified meat in my meal. It wasn't chicken, beef, shrimp, or pork. It was in the shape of a fish fin but had the consistency of cooked pasta. I will never eat here again. Just thinking about their food makes me feel sick. They implied it was imitation crab meat but I don't eat imitation crab meat because it's made of fish . It wasn't listed as an ingredient on the menu and I don't eat meat that I keep as pets. I am disgusted. read more

Took wifey and daughters for lunch special... We had bento boxes all the way around.. Must say food wasn't the best I've had but was tasty... Only complaint if any was the quantity.. Having spent many years in Northern Japan, it is customary to serve with salad and tempera.. This box came with the usual entree, rice, miso soup and and small portions of sushi.. I've been here twice. Once for dinner, once for lunch. Both times, I found the food to be excellent. The waitstaff made excellent recommendations the first time I was there with a friend for dinner. The portions are huge, I have a healthy appetite and still took a box that made a nice lunch the next day. The second time I went, for lunch, again, great service and really good food and large portions. My friend, who was paying, was surprised that we had two nice meals for $15 including tip. My only slight criticism would be that when you walk in, the waitstaff just kind of yells across the room for you to take your pick of seating. We ordered the Pad Thai as takeout so I was hesitant to review. My rule about Thai food, "don't order Thai from anything other than a Thai restaurant" is officially reinstated after this meal. There were enough shrimp to be satisfying but the flavor was bland which could be explained by the very dry noodles. The egg roll was okay. I would give them a 2.5 for uber timely delivery (I ordered online while at Starbucks choosing delivery for a few hours later). I'll probably review again when I order actual Chinese. read more

This was our first visit and the food was delicious! They were even able to customize my bento box for a vegetarian option. Definitely try the Thai spring rolls (rice wrappers) and change the shrimp to tofu in them. I would definitely come back for those! Great service and great food. I ordered takeout from Lin's the day we moved to Chesterfield. A year later and it's still our go to Asian Cuisine. We've tried other restaurants in the area but none compare. Do it. Don't hesitate. If you are looking for legit Chinese takeout, this is the place. Probably the best General Tso's I've had in a while. The pork fried rice is bomb, it's literal fire. Translation: It's so good. The spring rolls are super crunchy and flakey. And the sauce for the pork dumplings is just so tasty, yo. Initial impression is that this is the typical strip mall Chinese place, but its actually better than most. Crab Rangoon, spring rolls and hot& sour soup were all good. We also had some sushi, and the spicy California roll was pretty good also. We had the house specialty spring roll sushi and it was excellent. Lin's Asian Bistro is not a bad choice if you are in the area. The sushi is OK and the pad thai was OK. They have done a few groupons and I always buy those, but that's the only time I seem to find myself in the resturant. I think they are in a tough market and the food while OK isn't memorable enough to make me drive out of my way to spend my money. If you are in the area, I think you should give them a try. The staff is nice and friendly and like I said the food is good, just not amazing and the location is a little out of my way. read more

Lin's has become our go-to Chinese restaurant. I've tried several things on their menu so far and I'm never disappointed. My favorite is their Pad Thai. It might not be authentic enough for some people, but it still has good flavor to it. I've never had a bad experience with that dish. Their weak spot is their sushi. It used to be really good but lately it's been lackluster. I am not a fan of the sheer amount of iceberg lettuce they shove into things like spider rolls that is obviously used as a filler ingredient. I also hate that unless you tell them not to, they will drown your roll in that gross spicy mayo. If they just improve on their sushi, they'd be perfect! I do wish they extended their delivery area. We live just a couple miles outside where they are willing to deliver so pick up or dine-in is our only option. The staff are always very friendly and accomodating. The restaurant itself is extremely clean, which is always a good sign. They are in a bad spot for parking, so that is always an issue. The really sad thing about Lin's is that I don't think they get a ton of business. You go to Panda Express across the shopping center and they're packed but for the same price, you could come to Lin's and get much better quality. Yet, every time we've gone there, they are inexplicably empty. I hope business picks up for them because I do NOT want to lose my new favorite Chinese joint. read more

Best Asian restaurant in the Brandermill area. Chinese is really good and Thai food is great as well. I ordered the sesame chicken combo for dinner. Great portion and great taste. All the pieces were similar in size which was a plus. We also ordered Pad Se Eew which was very good. Really great portion and even flavor throughout. Would definitely recommend! I tried the pineapple fried rice and wasn't that impressed, mainly because it had tomatoes in it, and I wasn't expecting that. However, the wonton soup is great. We've been to Lins numerous times over the last few years and really enjoy it. On Saturday (2/1) we got take out and again enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately, the next day my wife, son, and I all got extremely sick. Vomiting and very nauseated. We had family in town and everyone wanted Chinese delivery for dinner, yay for me. My husband ordered the General Tso's shrimp, my mom the vegetarian lo mein noodles, dad, the vegetable mei fun noodles, sister, the General Tso's chicken without rice, and I ordered the TNT roll. When placing the order they asked if I wanted to add gratuity to the total - no. Why would I tip before I receive my order? When the order arrived I accepted the bags, thanked the driver and then paused and decided to check everything to make sure our order was complete. Good call, my dinner was missing. I saw on the receipt that they had circled the sushi roll but the driver had left without it - they apparently place them in separate bags. So I called the restaurant and the owner's wife answered and knew right away that I was missing part of my order and said that another driver had left right after with the sushi. The food was not hot when it arrived and I certainly was not expecting everyone to wait for my food to arrive but luckily my sister shared her chicken with me, even though she opted for no rice (damn her). 25 minutes later, and after the fried sushi had been riding around in someone's car, I called and told them to cancel my order. They didn't seem surprised, almost as if it had never been made or left their restaurant! At that point I was quite irritated to say the least. The wife was trying to defend the forgotten food and said that can be expected on a Saturday night??!! Of course I wasn't going to accept that as an excuse but instead of simply apologizing, she handed the phone to her husband - who continued to blame the mishap on the RAIN. It was barely sprinkling the whole evening! My husband did not finish his "General Tso's" shrimp, which is just fried shrimp with a bowl of sugar soup on the side. Their excuse for the sauce not being on the shrimp, "it will make it soggy...." Well, I guess they're not concerned about the General Tso's chicken getting soggy? Maybe it would at least make them moist. Oh, and the three pieces of broccoli were a nice touch. My mom and dad liked their noodles, but I don't think you can't screw those up too badly. It's embarrassing that this is the second Chinese delivery restaurant in the area that has forgotten food when we've had guests. I think I'll stick to my wok and air fryer. I just ordered spicy Szechuan beef from this place to try to kickstart labor and unfortunately it's got the kick of a 6 week old puppy. This is less spicy than regular black pepper. It's still yummy and I enjoyed it, but if you like your food spicy perhaps try the extra spicy option - maybe it will work better for you. read more

This was my first time here and I was not disappointed. I had drunken noodles, my son had ginger blackened chicken, and we had a Boston roll and a crab tempura roll. I'm writing this as I am just now finishing my fourth visit to Lin's Asian Bistro within the past two months. I have sat down and eaten there twice as well as ordered delivery once for dinner and once for lunch. I can honestly say this may be some of the best asian food I have had the experience of having, and the price tags are just as satisfying. I'll start with my visits where we sat down to eat as I think this is the best way to enjoy the restaurant but the food is just as good at home too. The inside is a little bit small but the interior is relaxing. I usually find it very quiet, with some calm music in the background and just all around comfortable seats with some dim mood lighting. The first time we went we got a couple plates to split including Pad Kee Mao (Which is drunken noodle) and tuna dinner combo(sushi). There was no hesitation or extra charge like some places will have for sharing meals, they simply brought out some extra serving plates for us and the food in a very timely manner - about twenty minutes. The food was fantastic and the sushi was extremely fresh. I've been to a lot of high end sushi places and this could compete with them at about a fifth of the price. The times we got delivery were just as satisfactory. About a twenty to thirty minute wait while again getting sushi, hot entrees, and appetizers all ready as if we were eating there. The only negative experience I have had with delivery was not receiving sweet & sour sauce with a order of sweet & sour chicken, however, we called them up and this was quickly fixed as we had our driver back at the door with it in 10 minutes. I'm not a food critic so I apologize if my review is a little bit sloppy. All I can say is to give this place a chance and you will be addicted. Whenever I have a Chinese food craving this is the spot! I usually order delivery and it comes super fast. Their chicken and broccoli is the bees knees. Hands down the best I've had in my 27 years of existence. Their white rice is always a wonderful treat, and the fried rice is on point. I'm currently on a diet, and the diet version of chicken and broccoli was superb. I'm always reluctant to try new Asian restaurants. Maybe has something to do with a Chinese restaurant in my hometown being shut down because of an abnormal amount of rats. My son texted me today from school wanting to go out to eat, "let's try some place new". Of course we have a lot to choose from since we've only been in the area about two weeks!! Frankly, I didn't want to stray too far off the beaten path. I settled on Lin's because I remembered seeing it next to the dry cleaners. What can I say? Anyway, I'm glad we did. The waiter was friendly and engaging. The place was clean. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food we received. We got the Bento Box with sweet & sour chicken and an order of steamed dumplings. Everything was hot and tasty. The chicken as well as the dumplings were tender. Not over breaded and not under stuffed. My son actually liked the miso soup!! Also great because they offer your normal Chinese takeout options if your fam isn't on board with authentic Thai or sushi. There really isn't a comparable option in this area if you are looking for quality and variety of Asian cuisine.
