Many reviews are meant to applaud the food and service of a restaurant. Others to simply discourage and dismiss the hard work of owners and staff. This review is an honest, constructive critique to help a restaurant improve, and I hope Lindsey's BBQ hears it well, because according to reviews here and on other platforms, food changes are desperately needed. The service and servers were truly friendly and relatively attentive. Food was delivered much faster than expected. The atmosphere and setting are comfortable and mostly align with the expected style of a BBQ joint, though they've gone a bit crazy with the pull tabs. It's a solid place for family or a Saturday night with friends. This is where we hit a wall. The food was unfortunate, to say the least. The main issue is that their meats aren't smoked. Not in the slightest. Oven-baked brisket and "burnt" ends. Their original sauce is quite good once cooked and slightly caramelized, however, it's also served cold, which is a grave mistake. You can tell they assume the liquid smoke in the sauce alone will make up for the fact that they're not smoking or even charring their meats. It doesn't. NEVER serve this sauce as a side. We started with the nachos and brisket. Upon tasting, we were confused because the supposed brisket had the taste and texture of a shoulder roast cooked in water. We next had a half-pound of brisket and a pound of burnt ends--same issue. At least we were sure it was brisket by the cut, but it was by far the worst we've ever had. Gamey (fecal), fatty, and completely bland. This is the most substandard, cheap beef I've ever experienced. Had they at least seasoned it properly, that would have been something. The burnt ends weren't exactly burnt. They were more seared in a high degree oven, drying them out slightly without giving them any sense of char. Again, zero smoke. High fat, zero bone or gristle, significantly meaty. Had they been true burnt ends, they would have been quite good. The sauce was great, but the improper cooking method destroyed any desire to finish our plates. The coleslaw was 6 out of 10. It was fairly flat and needed more tang, potentially a little more vinegar, sugar, celery seed, and lemon. The macaroni and cheese was the only hit. Despite other reviews, ours came out creamy and pleasant. Cornbread was okay, also 6 out of 10. Nachos come in at about the same rating. The demise of most restaurants is generally the same. Food quality gets cut, cleanliness is overlooked, and service becomes complacent. They hit the first death knell long ago, and I imagine they suffer for it because you can see where they've overcompensated in other areas to increase profitability. Menu prices for anything on the platters are scrimping on sides and outlandishly high when compared to the likes of Old Southern BBQ, Wing King, Famous Dave's, Dickey's, or John Hardy's. Lindsey's, if you take away anything out of what I'm saying, for the love of barbecue, PLEASE SMOKE YOUR MEAT. There is nothing barbecue about your restaurant. Make some changes and invite me back. This establishment keeps popping up on my Facebook feed. Decided I'd give it a go after work...Linsey's is tucked in behind the Ford dealership in a strip with a Subway and an Asian hair salon. There's a NAPA across the street as a point of reference. Ordered the brisket sandwich, coleslaw, and spent the extra $1.49 to upgrade to waffle fries and seasoned sour cream. Fries were cooked well and the sour cream had hints of, I believe paprika and Lawry's. Coleslaw was creamy and featured strips of cabbage. The blend of cabbage/dressing was nearly perfect. No flavor overpowered the other. I was a little disappointed that the brisket came shredded, but the meat emanated a decent smoke flavor. The review that mentions the BBQ sauce is like gelatin is unfortunately accurate. At first, when it came out dripping, I thought it was a Carolina-style sauce, which I love. But then the glops came out. Too bad--I thought it had a good apple cider/tangy mixture otherwise. The other sauce on offer is Sweet Baby Ray's which seems to be the darling of Minnesotans. Far too sweet for me. My receipt said the gentleman helping me behind the bar was named JD. He was very friendly and checked back in with me multiple times. He had a waitress that would assist him by clearing used plates and glasses. Very reasonable beer prices. The happy hour price for a pint of Blue Moon was $2.75; the receipt indicated this was $1.00 less than normal. $3.75 is a good deal for a beer some places still charge a premium price for. 3.75 is also about where this review would land. read more

You should eat here. In town for our daughters softball game and found this place by pure luck. My husband and I split the 2 meat platter with ribs, brisket, mac and cheese and cole slaw. I ordered a side salad and counteracted the veggies by dipping them in the insanely delicious whiskey serrano bbq sauce. Great, friendly service. We both agreed it's the best food we've had in a long time and our daughter devoured the left overs on the drive home. read more

Chicken nachos are pretty good 7/10. Ribs have obviously been sitting around for a while and were really dry 3/10. Rub is bland and unimpressive. BBQ sauce comes out like jello and is more like sugary gelatinous ketchup 2/10. Mac and cheese is probably the worst I have ever had 1/10. It was an overlooked, oily, flavorless mess. Cowboy beans (or whatever cute name they had for them) were not great either 4/10. Overall disappointing. I live in the area and was hoping for better. read more

My family has been in the twin cities for about 11 decades making food for the community. My mom and grandma both are chefs and the recipes at this place will are rivaling theirs like I loved everything that Joni made everything was flavorful, delicious and I was not prepared to eat everything on my plate was a 10 out 10 thank you Joni and the staff at Lindsey's BBQ and Grill I enjoyed ever single drop to the sauce all the way to the fries. I'm not big on reviews if I have a neutral experience, excellent service & fantastic food I most likely would not comment on the establishment, because I'm confident that others feel the same! The only reason for the one star is that I had no choice. However, after tonight, I think that every single Jordan bar/restaurant (besides Linseys) deserves a massive shout out for the fantastic service and food! Our family picked this spot out to celebrate a few sibling's birthdays. We are NOT a high maintenance group (Obviously, we picked Linseys); our primary goal is to get together for a beer, dinner, chat & catch up. The food, well, I cannot comment on the taste, since I lost my appetite after the owner barked at our table of eleven for being in his way?!? That alone is a reason to stay clear! His reason for his spaz attack was the table that he set up in his bar was too close to his working space. After confronting the owner of his behavior, he snapped back and looked like he was ready to throw down! He had no sympathy for telling us not once but twice to get out of the way! Guessing our presence and merely calling him out-earned us a cold pizza. When we had brought this to his attention, they offered to bake it a bit longer. That didn't work, because they had now burned it! After waiting (which seemed like a lifetime) for additional orders to come out and they didn't, that was our sign that it couldn't get worse. We canceled our orders, finished our drinks, and ran out the door. In the end, the owner did apologize (hardly) for his actions (completely not sincere) and gave us all ONE big whopping drink chip for his behavior and the poor service. The majority left their chips on the table. I for sure will not be going back EVER; I would rather eat a spam sandwich in a swamp of shit then go back to this shipwreck! Honestly, it could not have gotten any worse! I hope that this was just a bad day for the entire cast and crew at Linseys! The food came out fairly quickly so you would think that it would be at least semi-warm, but it was room temp even though they said it came right out of the smoker. Three of the four of us got pulled pork sandwiches and the portion size seemed decent but the meat didn't taste very smokey and they all were room temp. We ordered their BBQ for the first time two-nights ago, I go pick it up, 15 mins after we called as directed. We live literally 2 mins away, 4mins round trip. I tried to attach their menu below so you can see what we had for options but they already changed it after I left my review! The menu 7hrs ago all sandwiches came on a bun, grilled bun, or toasted bun. No white bread was on the menu. This company deletes negative reviews and just changed their menu to hide that they are/were misleading customers. Furthermore, instead of an apology, over $9 mind you, they are vindictive. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich on a bun and received this. The pork was cold, there was no bun, only white bread, and no bbq sauce. The ribs and brisket were not fall-off-the bone tender and the bbq sauce served (with the ribs and brisket) was cold. This was our first time and our last. Sad. More context: I called to complain about my sandwich not being what I ordered (not on a bun) and being cold. I said the rest of the food was fine and WARM. Just refund my $9 sandwich. Instead of apologizing and offering a refund they said "i guess we could give you a gift card for the sandwich" which I agreed to and said make it out to Sarah (my fiance). This was AFTER I left my review on their FB page. I would have changed my review had they offered better customer service but after that call I just left it up. When I woke up to feed my twins at 2am, I noticed her FB message to me (screenshot attached). When I tried to respond it disappeared since she blocked me entirely. You better believe I will be getting every penny back including my 20% tip that I gave on a takeout order. When i called to mention my sandwich, no apologies nothing, just a "well i guess we'll give you a gift card for your next sandwich" I WAS going to just give it my fiance but here we are. SHAAAADY Business. Seems like my images and screenshots keep disappearing (gee I wonder why?) so here's Linsey's poorly written response to my negative review, which they deleted off their Facebook page: Mike, Thanks for the negative post I will be sure to cancel the gift card. BBQ comes out of the smoker at 200 deg. I'm sorry that you came and took it to go it is libel to cool off in travel and wait time. Ribs that fall off the bone are over cooked. I actually drive about a half hour to get there, the service is amazing, the food is good, Bargo is a blast and I look forward to the music. I was in Linsey's last weekend. There was a woman so drunk she couldn't walk. The bartender Amy cut her off. The woman got upset and the man she was with both started yelling at Amy. I would like to give props to Amy for being a responsible bartender and caring about her employer. Too bad they didn't care about her. She was let go for not serving a drunk. I will not ever set foot in this establishment again. They have lost business and I will let others know since we are all in the service industry.
