Leo is the man!! Our key got stuck in the door knob to the front entrance of our apartment. We tried to use pliers and the key snapped in half...whoops. Leo arrived in 30 minutes and was awesome! This company ripped our family off and this review is worth $1,746. Lion Locksmith and Security offered to partially reimburse us if we agreed in writing not to post any bad reviews or report them to the Better Business Bureau. We value integrity over money. We hired them to replace two existing deadbolts with keypad entry, three new doorknobs, and install one new deadbolt. We were charged over $3,200. I was in a rush and did not do my due diligence prior and get a quote ahead of time and and although it seemed extremely high and despite my shock, I trusted that it was a fair price and had to rush to work. I felt extremely uneasy and immediately researched the cost of the hardware (ex. We were charged $750.00 for keypad entry hardware not including install that RETAILS for $192.00), pricing from his competitors all with five star reviews, and even anonymously calling Leo to inquire about his own pricing (ex. initially charged us $125.00 PER rekey of ONE keyhole, Leo offered to lower to $95.00 per rekey after we complained, quoted "$25.00 and up" to an anonymous potential customer inquiry, other companies were wanting $25-30, we offered $35). In the end, we were overcharged by over $2,000. He initially admitted that his serviceman was "new" and that we were overcharged. He offered an arbitrary amount off (around $1,200) which we did not agree to and instead sent him an itemized list of fair prices (actually we offered an overestimate on all of his own admitted price ranges. Ex: he stated he charges a 35-50% markup for hardware over WHOLESALE prices, we offered 50% markup over RETAIL) and he still refused to fairly meet our revised bill OR provide a revised invoice with his standard pricing after repeated requests for one (one can only assume he didn't want to admit in writing the gross discrepancy between the original invoice from his serviceman and what we should have been fairly charged). We eventually haggled down to a total bill amount of $1,550 (down from over $3,200!) but only in exchange for not writing reviews or lodging formal complaints which we felt was an unethical request. At this point, we felt it was our duty to make potential customers aware. We then attempted to dispute through the credit card company but since we did not remove the locks at time at service (an error in hindsight) and services were considered rendered and I had signed off on the charges day of, they could not reimburse but were extremely sympathetic and recommended a civil suit. I would rather write this review and inform others of Leo's dubious business practices than have $1,746 in my pocket. Lesson learned...always get multiple quotes prior, never hire this company, and be leery of online ratings. We realize looking back why Lion Locksmith has very few bad reviews, customers have been paid off for their silence! *Edit in response: If you prefer that I upload the original invoice with the gross and negligent overcharges, the counter estimate listing the precise retail amounts and our intent to compensate you more than fairly for the hardware and work done based on information you yourself provided, as well as screenshots of our text exchanges (as I preferred to keep everything in writing) as proof to your customers and that I am indeed not "lying," I am happy to do so. All pricing was not provided prior as you claim, your technician verbally stated to my husband on-site it would be "around $250 per" with no additional details given. Even per door, counting each deadbolt AND doorknob, that only totals $1,500, not $3,200. So you are absolutely correct we did the market research after we were fleeced. As another example, your technician charged us $389.00 for a deadbolt that RETAILS for $45.00. You offered to "discount" it to $250.00, we offered you $67.56 which is the retail value + 50% markup AFTER you stated on our phone call that you typically charge and I quote "35-50% over wholesale" for hardware when I questioned you. So why this discrepancy? Funny you don't address that in your response nor do you deny that you charged us $95 per rekey (originally $125) when you typically charge "$25.00 and up"? You offered to "work with us" because you said and I quote again "my technician is new and didn't work with our regular prices" but you refused to provide us with a corrected invoice with what those prices actually are. At no point did you offer a "return of all [your] profit"; you only offered random discounts off an initial invoice which was a gross overcharge to begin with. We offered you a total compensation of $1,308.23 for the hardware and work done (all overestimates of the retail and charge amounts you stated and hardly working for free as your response claims). You would only agree to $1,550 with written agreement to post no bad reviews or report you. We felt that was unethical and dishonest and refused. I understand you feel the need to defend your company and reputation but my review is factual. read more

I called him and several other security companies to discuss an idea I had to re-do our front gate entry system and to convert it to a video intercom entry with keypad access after a rash of daytime break ins in our neighborhood. Leo understood my idea immediately, set up an appointment to come and inspect the existing hardware the NEXT DAY, and on the spot provided me with an estimate that was very competitive. This has been a long time coming! I was introduced to Lion at the recommendation of my GC when I was having issue with my front door lock back in early 2017. The rep/tech showed up on time and quickly fixed the lock and when I pointed out an issue with my gate lock, he fixed that too. Fast forward several months when my wife and I woke up to find someone under our crawl space. The police recommended security cameras, so we called Leo. He came out himself and assessed the situation and made his recommendation. Now, he was not cheap my any stretch but I can tell you his guys worked hard and the product has been great. If fact within 2 months after install, the camera picked up someone casing the house (while we were home). When he notice the cameras, he immediately left the property to a car that was waiting for him. The cameras also picked up the flashing headlights that signaled him. Why am I writing this review in 2019? Well, I called Leo last night because I had an issue with connecting my IP cameras to our new router. Within 5 minutes, I got a text back. Got quoted for $90 and a 20 minute wait time... All a lie, one big fat incompetent lie. I essentially, I waited 2 hours for some random shady guy to bump my lock and yell at me... and no he could not open my door for me. 1.5 hour wait for a Locksmith to show... Yelp listed address says 1.7 mi from my home. The Tech arrives in an unmarked car... He looks and acts sketchy. Tech's tools were all over the trunk of his car... He does not respect his trade. Tech's tool bag was ripped, screwdrivers hanging on by a thread... Seriously a hot mess. Tech tells me I owe him $85 extra dollars... I tell him I got a quote for $90 and that I have a yelp cert... He then mumbles ok whatever. Tech then proceeds to slip and slide a random key into the key hole. No caressing of the handle, no listening to mechanisms, no staring into the curves of the hole. He is now frustrated and bumps furiously at my lock (with the handle portion of his sad screwdriver). Look, I've seen Ocean's 11, you are ruining my property! STOP BUMPING MY FING LOCK! 10 minutes pass, he is still bumping my lock... Handle of said screwdriver flies off and nearly hits me. He turns around and says to me, "You need to be more careful". Wtf, you almost hit me with your rinky dink screwdriver and you tell me to watch it. I am now furious with this business and am ashamed I have called them for help. He says, "I cannot open the door, I need to drill your lock it will cost an extra $60". I tell him, "Get the F out!" He tells me to give him the $125 for his services and then he starts yelling at me to pay him. Look, I am not going to pay you for services you could not render. That's a non negotiable. Accidentally locked my keys into the rear compartment of my bike. I called several locksmiths but most of them either didn't want to drive over to my place or told me that motorcycle locks is too difficult to pick. However, this place was willing to help me out!
