We had a great show. The performers were amazing! Their dance moves set the crowd on fire. Loved it!!! The food was also really good. I would have given 5 stars, except the manager was really rude in the end. We were there for a celebration, like almost everyone there. Group after group were going to the stage to take pics with their server. We were waiting for ours (Armani, who I love!) to finish with the table checks. The manager snaps at us and says we all need to leave so he can open for the next show but he can't because everyone wants to take pics on stage. Well if you allow a few groups to take pics, don't get upset if others want the same. He was unnecessarily rude. I'd still go back but get a table close to the front so I can be first to take a pic without getting snapped at. read more

I'm not sure if I was slightly underwhelmed because LIPS had been so hyped up to me for my entire 12-year stint in San Diego, or I was less impressed because it was a day after I returned from Las Vegas where everything is extra, but I left slightly disappointed. My girlfriends and I attended their Turnback Tuesday themed dinner show as a Galentine's Celebration and I heard mixed reviews throughout our party of 10. My best friend and I opted to share the blackened chicken and salmon plates and both were quite good, but absolutely overpriced for what they were. I don't usually finish an entire meal in one sitting (unless it's a salad) and my plate was cleaned by the end of the night. For the price of dinner, I expected to have leftovers for lunch the following day. I suppose some of that pricing is absorbed into the show cost as well. I appreciated the energy that the performers put out, but I just thought the show was a bit boring. The vast majority of it was them lip syncing and standing on stage which would have been fine if done in small parts, but I would have liked to see a lot more dancing. I am glad I finally went and experienced it, but I don't think I'd go again. read more

TLDR: Racist jokes and bullying of patrons. Not welcoming or inclusive. I went to the Saturday show for my bachelorette party. I had a temporary tattoo of my fiancé, who is Asian-American, on my arm. When I went on stage for the bachelorette celebration, Tooti noticed the tattoo and referred to my fiancé as Kim Jong-Un. I corrected her, explaining that it's my fiancé and telling her his name, which is also written on the tattoo. She asked if he was Asian and again referred to him as Kim Jong-Un. A member of our party confronted Tooti after the show and no accountability was taken. Other racist jokes were made about Mexicans and black people that evening. VaVaVoom was the only highlight of our experience. Her performance was the most energetic and she was lovely to us. The food was good, the drinks were meh. Most other performances were underwhelming and tipping pressure was excessive. In fact one of the racist comments occurred after a table didn't get their dollar bills in time. I hope Lips sees this and takes it seriously, along with the other reviews that mention derogatory comments, including body shaming and racism. These behaviors are not acceptable and should not be normalized. I was so excited to celebrate with the queens but left feeling sad and disappointed. read more

Second time in 2 years....AND it keeps getting better. My mom and I have been here twice now to celebrate our birthdays and we have such a nice time. They give you birthday crowns and bring you up on stage for some laughs and a birthday picture. They also do some fun stage activities if you are there for a bachelorette party! The food is AMAZING. Our group of 4 had- 2 steaks, blackened chicken and a eggplant parm. Everyone had a great time. The drinks are ...worth every penny and if you don't laugh... there is something wrong with you. I literally lost 5 lbs dancing and laughing. The service is fantastic and the performance is 10 stars. The makeup and costumes are jaw dropping.... lots of talent in this place. Went to my first drag show here for bitchy bingo and they did not disappoint. All the drag queens there have an amazing personality and outfits as well. You can tell they put a lot of effort and time into their performances and make up. What ever you do don't ask to get your burger cut in half! They roasted me for it and it was hilarious! It's all in good fun though. Don't go if you're not open minded and can't take a few jokes. The hostess was absolutely HILARIOUS and was cracking me up every 5 seconds. This was my second time here, but first time attending the Taboo Show, which starts at 11:30pm. You need to make reservations and spend a minimum amount of $15 per person, but it could be for food or alcohol. For the regular show, alcohol doesn't count towards this. There is also a $5 cover charge per person, which isn't bad at all. Since it's a popular venue to celebrate birthdays and bachelorette parties, you need to get in line and then wait to get seated. During this time you will be given a menu to order and take photos on stage with the drag queens if you want. We ordered the dessert sampler, cheesy balls, a few drinks, chocolate covered strawberries, and some shots with a blinging ring on it. The actual show doesn't start until around 12:30, which is when your servers change into their costumes. The women were really entertaining and I liked that each one had a different personality. One of them was really flexible and jumped over the bar and did the splits!! Not too many men attend these shows, so the drag queens would pick on them most of the time LOL. You might get called up on stage to help with the act too, so make sure you have enough liquid courage ;). Since we were celebrating my friend's bachelorette party here, we had her go on stage (for an extra $10.) They have you kneel down and drink a blow job, but she did a bad job LOL. She didn't like the taste, so they had to show her how it's done. It was nice of them to take a photo of her with the drag queens for a keepsake. My group of 6 and I went as part of a bachelorette weekend in San Diego this past weekend. We originally had planned and booked a drag show brunch elsewhere for Saturday early afternoon, but they had texted us Thursday afternoon saying they had to cancel the show. So, Thursday afternoon, we scrambled to find an alternative, and one bridesmaid luckily landed on Lips and they were able to squeeze us in for Friday night! Whoever we talked to on the phone was patient, knowledgeable, and able to answer all of our questions, from what the bachelorette package entailed to if there were vegetarian and gluten free options for dinner. For our 9 p.m. show, we arrived and started waiting in line around 8:30 p.m. One thing to note is that we did wait until past 10 p.m. because the audience in the show before us were late to leave. We were maybe the third group to be waiting in line, and good thing we did, because our dinner and drink orders were taken pretty quickly, and we were on our dessert course as some other tables were just getting their salad course. Our food also came out pretty quickly. Everything tasted great and the value of the night (dinner and the show) was unbeatable. I got the blackened chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. The chicken was tender and portions were generous - always good when drinking! I got a tequila soda which was so strong that I was able to nurse it all night. The queen who was waiting on us was very attentive and made sure we always had a drink. We don't know how we scored a 9 p.m. show on a Friday night the day before, but so glad we did! The show itself was a lot of fun and they recognized celebrations. First was birthdays, then bachelorettes. There was even a girl who passed the bar who went on stage - definitely worthy of celebration! Highly recommend and would go again. read more

From the security guy to the manager at check in, everyone is delightful and kind. But, the highlight of the evening is Armani. Straight up funny and fun...did I just say straight? WTF! If you can attend whilst Armani is hosting, do so. You will not be disappointed. BTW, the FOOD....oh my! The food is delicious. I rarely clean my plate, but I did (blackened salmon), so good. I bet the show was great- but we missed it... I made a reservation in June of 2021 (so post covid) When I talked to the hostess, I expressed that we would be there for a bachelorette party and asked for a recommendation on what show to attend and what time. They sold me into the Taboo show since it was more "raunchy" and appropriate for the bachelorette. I reserved for a party of 7. The night of the reservation we had a change of plans and I called them to change it to 6. No one answered so I left a message with my name and TIME OF RESERVATION and asked them to call me back to confirm they received the change. They called while I was at dinner. Phone rang once and they left no message. My party and I showed up at 11:30 as instructed in my CONFIRMATION EMAIL and we saw everyone walking out (happy as could be, so we were even more excited) We waited there for 5 minutes until we finally asked the bouncer to go find us someone that could check us in. The manager? came out and starred at me blankly, I asked, "Do you work here?" He said yes. I saw my name, date and phone number on a post it note on the counter and explained this was me. He said, "We tried to call you but no one answered." I showed him my phone, whoever called, called at 9:01 and left no message. He said, sorry but there is NO TABOO SHOW! The last show ended. He said there hasn't been a Taboo show since Covid. I showed him the email confirmation with the date. He starred at me blankly again. This got me thinking, would they have even called me to tell me there was no Taboo show had I not called to make a change to the reservation? There was no remorse, the manager bought us a shot and said we could go out with him and the the group at a dive bar down the street. He asked if we could come back the next day. NOPE! We all left the next day. I cannot believe the mediocrity of this place, to take a reservation for a show that apparently does not exist any more and have 2 months to call me and tell me so I could plan accordingly and then have no explanation other than, "We called you." I am sure the show was great- but we missed it thanks to their ignorance. read more

I would recommend you have a drink or two before going so that you can take some jokes, maybe get roasted, and add to the ambience by participate. Bring cash for tip, da bitches work hard for the money! (I brought a stack of $1 bills that lasted me thorough the night). Bring enough cash to cover drinks, food etc. cuz if you're a larger group only 4 can pay w cc/ table. Remember your ID, no matter your age!!! I had a good time! It was really entertaining and fun crowd on Friday night. We sat on the elevated level so nice views of the room. I wasn't 100% in love with each song but still enjoyable. You get large portions of food with the sampler. I didn't like it. It looked good but the taste wasn't great. My chicken tenders had a weird texture and I didn't like the ranch dressing. Everything had alot of breading. Some of the dishes at other tables looked pretty good. The drinks are not bad. I loved the themed drink names! Everyone is very nice and fun to be around. The doors open at 9-930 but show started around 1030. It lasts about an hour. You spend first hour ordering and taking photos. They promptly ask everyone to pay and leave when the show is over lol. These girls are working really hard! They perform, take your order, serve you drinks...they do it all! I have been here a few times for different occasions. Today I was here for a celebration during the Sunday Gospel Brunch. You make reservations ahead of time and they direct you to your table. This makes things easy as people don't have to rush in to get a certain table. They have a prefix menu and it is a set price. $27.95 and that included the show, your meal and Champagne, Mimosas or Bloody Mary's. People don't come here for the food. They come for the entertainment. And you will absolutely be entertained. Again, these girls are working REALLY hard. The reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because I feel like the establishment sneaks a lot of additional charges in. Somehow, a $27.95 brunch ends up $42 per person plus your tips throughout the show. They charge $7/person cover charge, even when you are buying brunch/dinner. If you're not drinking alcohol, the sodas were free when ordered from the bar. The same sodas were $5 a piece when the waitress brought them to the table. It's not the performer's fault. If the money was going to them to pay them for their performance, that's fine...but somehow I doubt that it is. Also, the entire performance, from beginning to end, is centered around working the audience for more tips. It's hard to enjoy the show because they are constantly instructing the audience on how to throw tips to them. I'll come back. We always have a good time. I just seem to forget, in between visits, how expensive it ends up being. read more

Let me start by saying this place was a blast. I'm giving 4 stars for a few small reasons. First, we went on a Saturday night for the 3-course meal provided with the $49/person charge. Seating began at 5:30pm, but the show didn't start until 7pm. They tell you to grab a cocktail before sitting down at your table, so we did. The bartenders were pretty quick at whipping up our cocktails. We took our seat and salads hit the table within 5 minutes. This is the first Drag establishment that I've been too where the Queens were our servers! These ladies werk for their money hunty! Our Queen took our appetizer and entree order soon after introducing themself. To our surprise, the food came and we ate before everyone was seated and before the show started. It made sense though, as you wouldn't want food being served as these fantastic performers were parading, twirling, kicking, splitting, and jumping between the tables. Plus, if they're your server it makes it difficult. They had help serving and clearing plates/glasses which was efficient. Over time, we started getting impatient with how long it took the show to start and wondered how they'd pull off a full show, clean up, and reset for the next show at 9pm. We learned it was because the Queens only performed one number. This was slightly disappointing, but every single performance was packed with stunning costumes, pristine makeup, flawless lip syncing, energetic dancing, wigs that were attached so tight they could withstand a hurricane, and plenty of cash collecting. They did take time to bring up every single birthday person and bride-to-be for an intro and photo, which felt like an extended break that we felt would have been better as another performance, but we understood the appeal for the celebrators. Overall, I would recommend a visit to one, if not all, of their shows. Give it a try, but be patient. Finally, for the sake of every tight tuck, TIP YOUR QUEENS AND BARTENDERS! read more

I made reservations for 5 for 7/22/23 for my daughters 25th birthday. They called me back a few hours later to confirm my reservation. I also received a text a couple of days before to confirm again. Food was great with a great variety, I had the Salmon, my daughter had chicken, someone had steak, and everyone loved their food. NO, you can't share a plate, I don't know why someone would think you could it's a dinner/show they charge for each person which is reasonable to pay for entertainment. I don't have an issue with this. Service was excellent. Our server was Va Va Voom. She was amazing. The show was excellent. I have zero complaints. The drinks were awesome.
