FairPlay is the epicenter of sports in San Diego! Adam Cook the owner runs a prestige business and the vibes are immaculate

All my experiences have been during the FIFA World Cup 2026. With that being said, I'm super impressed with Fairplay. My friends and I joined the watch parties at least 3 times a week since the cup started. Fairplay had all their business hours posted on their social media and kept up with that the whole way through. They were hosting those 9am games with loyal fans staying until the final game. It started getting really packed as the eliminations began. Security was handling the doors, stamping our hands with a reminder that there was "No Saving Seats." First come first serve and table sharing was encouraged. Even though the bar was packed, drinks were made and handed out quickly. Food was making its way out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Staff was working hard and we appreciate them. I don't remember prices or most of the menu. Jello Shots were good and the Caesar Salad is a favorite. Best I can do y'all. Smoked Wings. Top 3 in San Diego after OB Noodle House and Hill Street Brewing (also smoked) in O'side. If you take away nothing else from this review, take that. They are good sized and unfortunately about $2 each, but worth it, I guess. They bill them as "naked," but that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm a wing connoisseur. They seem like they are brined then given some sort of Cajun type dry rub then thoroughly smoked. The result is bursting with flavor. Buffalo, BBQ and ranch sauces are available to awkwardly pump self serve near the soda fountain. They may be unnecessary. I found they almost conflict with the underlying smokey/Cajun foundation. Service was fine. Space is nice and open with a baseball / sports bar theme. Bathrooms were nice and apparently there's a patio out back. Dropping a star mostly for no happy hour but also irked that the draft system was down. I'll be back. read more

When I walked inside for the third place World Cup match, I immediately noticed the 1994 Upper Deck life size replica soccer cards on the walls. This was an amazing artistic expression by whomever was in charge of decorating this place for the World Cup! Armando was very welcoming, and he even reminisced with me about some of the legendary soccer players depicted on the walls of the establishment. The kitchen staff was also very nice, albeit they were moving in slow motion. It took 45 minutes for me to receive an order of chili cheese fries. I ordered them at kickoff, but they didn't arrive until halftime. I understand that the place was busy, but that requires the kitchen staff to pick up the pace a little bit. I could see that they were still moving at normal speed. A small fix that will increase their customer base for future sporting events... Overall, it was a positive experience to be surrounded by so many friendly and welcoming people. If I'm in the area, then I'll be sure to stop by again! read more

This is hands down the BEST sports bar in San Diego. The vibes are always immaculate. TVs every where. On busy game days, make sure to come early. This place opens in the morning during big games. There are sometimes a line through the door. You order at the bar only and find a seat. Good is pretty good bar food nothing fancy, yummy drinks. There is something for everyone. They also have salad if you're trying to live that healthy life. read more

This bar is so spacious and has so much seating! There are plenty of tvs so you can see it from anywhere you sit and they play all the games. All of the cocktails I tried were delicious, and I also got the side of fries and fried cauliflower and they were delicious! They were battered fries so not gluten free. The fries had a slightly crispy outside with a nice soft inside. The cauliflower was quite oily, but if you are down for the oil, it's great. Plus the lemon aioli that it comes with is quite refreshing. Overall it is a great place to hang out with friends and gather. The staff were very sweet and the food came out very fast. There is a front area with plenty of seating as well a back patio with more seating. The patio is completely covered and enclosed and it didn't feel like it got much airflow. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, it is all street parking. This place is also dog friendly! read more

I love FairPlay. And this is coming from someone who couldn't care less about sports and isn't a huge bar hopper. I appreciate that they serve food, and have plenty of options for quick snacks to an actual meal. The vegetarian options are great too. The drinks are great and poured heavy which makes for exactly the type of experience I look forward to during a night out. There's always plenty of seating whether it's out back or at the front. Large tables so you can meet up and sit with a lot of friends. Service has always been quick and great with the employees being helpful and fun to chat with. read more

Favorite bar in North Park!! Lots on tap, I appreciate that there's always one or two gluten free options. Cocktails are slept on, Playboy Martini changed my life. Haven't had the chance to try the kitchen as I am gluten free (sad). Friends love the fried pickles. Awesome place to catch sports! Dozens of TVs and they really try to show as many games as possible. They open early for those 10 AM NFL games. No shame here - go ahead and root for your favorite teams and players. Absolutely popping off for primetime events!! (any playoffs, padres, or sd fc!) Bartenders are the coolest! Dog-friendly and super welcoming but the crowds can get loud. Aside from sports, it's my favorite bar in the area, with a patio, garage doors, and tons of seating. read more

Who knew Fat Tuesday would have special po boys! It was super tasty and filling. I love fried pickles and ranch but their chipotle sauce or maybe thousand island was even better. I love FairPlay for their food already and they've got a fun atmosphere with booths and all their tvs to watch the games. read more

Fairplay's happy hour rocks. I love popping in here before or after tattoo appointments. These were the best fries and wings I've had in a while - and who doesn't love self-serve sauces?!! Also, must note that this draft Paloma is an excellent one! I enjoy the ambiance here more when it's not full of sports fans, since I don't enjoy sports myself, but no complaints either way. ;) read more

I am genuinely shocked. I have yet to make a review for the spot. This is not my first time coming to this location. However, my most recent trip to here was to watch the USA versus Canada Olympics gold game. The game started at 5:10 in the morning, and I knew this spot would be open to allow people to watch the game with others. This place was quite packed for such an early game. I give a huge appreciation shout out to any of those workers who have been there to open up early so that certain games can be watched. They were able to start serving food early in those hours, but of course serving alcohol cannot start until 6 AM. I definitely recommend this spot if you are a fan of sports. They are pretty diligent in showcasing a variety of sports. They even have on their Instagram a TV guide that they post what sports games will be shown throughout the day. read more

Rolled thru on Sunday evening for chili cheese fries. The place was empty with only a could people finishing ng off their weekend. Ordered from the bar to-go. They give you pager and you pick up at kitchen window. Chili cheese fries half order were solid. Fries were fresh and crisp, chili was chili, cheese sauce was not the best but it's what I wanted, so it worked. I want to return for sports viewing and a few brewskis. read more

Usually, if there's a game you want to watch, they'll find a way to put it on. The food is really great. As a pescatarian, they have a lot of really delicious options! Came to watch SDFC play. It was packed. The crowd was rowdy (in a good way) and it was a good time because they brought the energy. We ended up staying a bit after the game and it was the complete opposite once everyone left. And so I think if it's not a game or a big event or a Friday night because the lines to get in are always ridiculously long..I wouldn't necessarily come. This place always seems to be packed starting around 7pm on weekends and continues into the night and I'm guessing it's for the drinks because the food isn't that spectacular. There was 3 in my group and we had the typical bar food stuff - nachos, burgers, wings. All average to below average. I did not feel like it was worth spending money here for food. Drinks were fine. You order at the bar. Menu is on the walls in case you don't want to be staring at your phone. They have hoppy beer, nitros, light and then a few beers under the label "other" which are ciders, international beer, kombucha etc. and of course they have bottled beer like coors light and non alcoholic. If beer isn't your jam, there are some fun looking cocktails which are relatively cheap. Only about 11 dollars. You can sign me up for those prices anytime! Because it's packed, finding seating is always and adventure. Having 3 in my group made it difficult because it's an odd number. You just gotta keep your eyes open and move with the quickness. Be prepared / be open to sharing space with others. Overall. I think it's a bit overrated. I experienced it and feel like maybe I'll come back during a party night but I wouldn't necessarily be running back here. read more

One of my favorite bars to watch sports games at! Their cheese burger with secret fries is too good. Our food comes out in a timely manner and always cut our burger in half. It's huge so it makes it a lot easier to enjoy haha. They have lots of events throughout the week. The staff usually reminds us when we go about what's happening. The atmosphere is perfect to watch games! Lots of TVs and seating. They also usually play the sound for most events which not a lot of places do! read more

Service 10/5 stars. Everyone from the people behind the bar to the kitchen are incredibly friendly every time we come in. If you want to come for a main event, get there early. It can get pretty packed in here. They post their tv schedule on instagram which is super convenient when you're scouting a place to watch a specific game. Their food is consistently delicious for bar food. Highly recommend the pastrami sandwich, fish and chips, loaded fries, and breakfast burrito. The service was excellent and the bartender even went out of his way to come out from behind the bar to bring us water. The food was good and the space is nice and open. Lots of big screens invite you in off the street, but the chill vibes, cold drinks, and tasty food keep you here. This is a great place to watch a game, catch up with friends, host a work happy hour, or pregame before a show at the observatory. The pastrami sandwich was on point! tons of meat and a spicy kraut that makes my mouth water as I type this. I really like the vibes at FairPlay, and the crowd here is amazing, especially on game day. The energy is electric! It gets packed like sardines, but if you're looking to meet new people and share in the excitement for the Padres, this is definitely the spot. However, the drink situation was frustrating. The line to order was out the door the entire time, and even if you're sitting at the bar, expect to be ignored. It's not the staff's fault, they were clearly overwhelmed but management could definitely step up. They should hire more people or have all hands on deck for game days. Customers are there to drink, buy rounds for their friends, and have fun, but with only two maybe three bartenders for that kind of crowd, so much business was lost. I saw tons of people around me ready to order, but they just couldn't get the bartenders' attention. But 10/10 would come again read more

Another concept that, though simple, was/is much needed for North Park. That concept: a sports heavy bar. While it was a little bit sad to see Toronado go, I'm more excited to see a place like Fairplay replace it. Is my lack of love for beer showing? I think so. Come here to watch a game as there are a ton of TVs and it is baseball season after all - go Padres! The food is what you'd expect and while I didn't get to try one myself, I hear the burgers are very good. See? While I dislike beer I do enjoy a quality hamburger and a stiff drink and here I can get both of those. It was a warehouse feel that made it feel a bit cold to me but the service was warm enough. I'll be back to issue my fifth star once I get down on some more of their food that I'm not sharing with other and isn't typical bar bites. read more
