Lipumas is an institution in Rochester no doubt. Always fun to chat with the cooks there and eat outside when the weather is nice, my fav there is the chili fries they are soooo good!

A true Rochester institution. Order your dogs right inside the door, add fries and a fountain drink.. cash only! Get your Coney dogs and cheese fries, go eat on the patio or picnic tables by Paint Creek! Service comes with a smile and probably a sarcastic comment!

Always fast & friendly service no matter how busy. Small place but heated & covered side patio and some outdoor seating too. This one is a family favorite & my teens always ask to go when we're in town visiting family. Coney Islands, Coney Combos, & Russian Dogs are our go to a with some chili cheese fries. Simple, messy, and oh so good every time!

Back again! Visited on a Saturday in February around 1:30 and it was busy! The staff was wonderful-the owner was washing tables, checking on customers and keeping things moving. The chili cheese fries hit the spot(one of my favs) and the coney with cheese was perfect! The inside was full but the patio was heated.

Sheesh, these dogs are amazing! I got the Texas, Chicago and NY; while it's heavy on the ingredients, that's a pretty good complaint to have. The Chicago dog was definitely my favorite. I did not get any of the chili cheese fries but I saw others get it and I was a bit envious. The folks were kind and the food was ready quickly. It's such a cool spot amongst all the "fine dining" establishments nearby. Sometimes a good dog is all you need! I can't wait for my next time.

This is an ICONIC Coney Dog Drive In ~ we live in Las Vegas are visiting family & this is ALWAYS a must GO. Coney Dogs are NOT Chili Dogs just for reference, coney dogs are meat no beans with a hot dog, mustard on a bun~ I don't get the attraction however this restaurant always is crowded so their product is highly desired. Many different type of hot dogs are available along with soup, chix nuggets, french fries, soft drinks and i believe a salad or 2. All dogs are $3.50 ~ Great for families, kids etc, free parking, a few tables inside and more on the covered patio. CASH ONLY so make sure to go the the ATM before

**CASH ONLY** I've driven by this place a million times but never stopped in because there was always a line wrapped around the building, and let's be honest, I'm not standing in line for food, especially in the elements. LOL. Well, I was driving today and finally had the time to stop in and realized it wasn't busy and were just opening. Parking here's kind of tight and they have signs that if you aren't there for the restaurant or the realtors office, you'll be towed. Yikes! Good to know though. Walking in the place is kind of small but they have outdoor seating that's covered along with heat lamps for this time of year. The place is pretty old school with a really basic menu and the letters you have to manually put up one by one. Their pricings really good. About $3 to $3.50 a hot dog, $3 for a drink, etc. They have a great selection of dogs to choose from and I asked a lot of questions before I ordered. The guy behind the counter gave me a ton of info and was really super helpful. I went with the Texas dogs which came with coleslaw and a pickle on top. I got two, but probably would've been okay with one and I got a drink as well. Total was just under $10. Not to bad, but they don't accept cards! WHY! It's 2022 and you could at least have a card reader and require a minimum. I docked a star for this because there's no reason in this day and age to not accept cards. Also, they don't do breakfast! I asked why and they said it's because they want to be an authentic Coney and just offer dogs and such. Okay, fine, I learned my lesson. So, lunch and dinner only here I guess. Overall a really solid place and worth a stop if you have time. Just go when it's not busy so you can dine inside and not wait in line or have to take your food elsewhere to eat.

The classic! coney w/ extra mustard

If you're reading this Yelp review....I can only hope that you are an out of towner who has turned to Yelp to find some great local food in the Rochester area. Goodness knows, the locals already have been in on the secret of this Rochester community staple. If that is the case, you can probably stop reading and just put Lipuma's into Waze and head on down. In my opinion there is only one better Coney Island in the Detroit area...and that's Lafayette Coney downtown. But since the two are so far from one another, each occupies a different spot in my eating rotation. A Lipumas experience starts when you order at the counter. The staff is fast, friendly and gets your food to you quickly....word of caution, bring cash...no credit cards accepted. Food in hand, it's time to chow down. The chili here is outstanding, definitely more flavorful and (importantly) consist than the bigger franchised Coneys around town. It shines on their hot dogs and fries. The fries are always fresh and crispy. The coneys are great,,,I love how finely they chop the onions...it's like an onion relish not big, sloppy chunks. While the hot dogs don't have the snap that you get from a natural casing dog, they taste good enough to overlook that minor flaw. I can't wait for my next trip to Lipuma!

It is a VERY small place with horseshoe shapes bars and stools, a few 2 top booths, and off to one corner, hidden, a hallway with 3 booths to fit 4. Luckily we found the last table empty and stuffed our stuff in a corner. Had we been prepared to come here, we would have not brought the stroller, definitely no room for it. Table service was fast by what looked like a High school kid, just like old times. We ordered burgers, fries, and a kids meal. Burgers/sandwiches and fries are all Ala carte. 2 burgers, 1 set of fries,1 order fried pickles, a kids meal, 1 milkshake and 1 pop was just under $70. The burger was DELICIOUS, juicy, flavorful, good quality meat, cheese and bacon. Fries were just okay, but the pickles were good. My daughter enjoyed the hot dog. We weren't going to order a milkshake but my daughter overheard the table behind us order one, and so we had to get one too. The waitress said they were huge, and in fact all three of us split one milkshake. And it was a rich, flavorful milkshake too.

Service was friendly and attentive…read more Interior was run down, many ceiling tiles were missing. Menu was confusing compared to the board that was in the wall. I expected more of a smash burger based on the diner vibe and some online pictures so I ordered a double Pattie. That was a mistake as the patties were not smashed and were quite thick. I actually removed one of the patties to make the burger edible. Burger patties were extremely salty. Bacon was tasty but too thick to be on a burger as you couldn't easily bite through it. Burger besides being salty was over cooked and not a lot of flavor. Didn't have their traditional bun so had to get the brioche. Seasoned fries didn't have a lot of seasoning. Half order of onion rings was only three, very disappointing. Chocolate milkshake was very good. Sigh I really wanted…read moreto like this place. I love a good cheeseburger and I specifically like for the burger to be cooked over and open flame/ grill. Sometimes I'll just call different restaurants to ask how they prepare their burgers and to my surprise this place does cook Their burgers over an open flame ! i've been looking forward to visiting for a couple of weeks and yesterday for my cheat meal I decided it was time . I have a very specific cheeseburger order: cheeseburger and sometimes depending on how big the burgers are, double cheeseburger. I usually do two different types of cheese and in this instance, I got American and Muenster cheese. Please don't ever put a pickle on my burger or on the plate and I always request extra tomatoes. Nothing too complicated. their burgers are about 8 ounces uncooked I believe, served on an onion roll, which I decided to have an open mind too. The burger was supposed to be cooked medium thiugh it definitely came well done- that well done where it's a bit dry and crumbly if you know what I mean,. It came to me with the cheese that they wanted me to have, which was just 2 slices of American. I also requested that my fries not be seasoned. The fries that arrived looked like they were sponsored by lisinopril or some other manufacturer that makes blood pressure medicine, given all the salt that had on them ! I noticed it right away and told the waitress. She ever so politely and kindly offered to take my food back. Whoever was cooking, probably annoyed at me that THEY missed what was on the ticket put a piece of cold cheese on my burger and set the plate in the window . Muenster cheese is typically a yellow slash orange color that's marbled in somewhat with white- not like Colby jack but there's a tint to it. This cheese was not only freezing cold, but it looked shaved as if it was Parmesan that was cut off of a rind. He didn't bother putting it back on the broiler for a second to let my cheese melt, and the cheese never actually melted as the brother had long since been off the flame. The fries came back out, without salt, but they should've been cooked a few minutes longer. I REALLY did not like my meal. I also got a side salad before. It was completely chunky iceberg lettuce, and my batch must've been at the bottom because it was soaking wet. This is one of those diners that is sort of tucked away in a strip mall. The menu looks so promising, but my meal was extremely underwhelming. I also didn't feel the best after I ate it which for a cheeseburger cheat meal was the height of disappointment. Now, the one good thing that the restaurant does have going for it is the two ladies that I interacted with: my waitress, and the woman that rang me up! Those young ladies were smiling from the moment I walked in until the time I left. they greeted me in the most welcoming way, and my waitress was absolutely the picture of kindness and humility. I read the specials on the whiteboard and it seems like there's a thought in someone's head to make the restaurant good but unfortunately, the food was terrible. Also not that I ever wanted a burger on an onion roll, but I will never ever do that again. I'll get it on plain toast before I ever do an Onion roll again. The cold food with the REALLY cold cheese on an overcooked burger with fries that were crinkle cut and not cooked all the way through even though they were oddly as thick as steak fries, sealed the deal that I will never return. A burger, soda and salad ran me $30 to which I gave the super nice waitress a $10 will deserve to. Last time for me.

My sister and I ordered a $13.00 medium cheeseburger, water and potato chips. The burger was rare…read more This place charges an additional $5.00 each for potato chips! The bill was $36.00. Total was $38.16 never again

Not busy, maybe a few tables if that. Menu wise they have lent specials which included shrimp and fish options at a discounted price. Our waitress was young and seemed overwhelmed, she was the only one working the dining room. A manager was counting change and tinkering while the cook looked bored in the back. We ordered fish and chips and shrimp and chips. No tarter sauce, lemons, or cocktail sauce were included. Waitress said they were out of tarter sauce and she would have to make more. Props for it being made in house but a concern that it is Lent and no tarter sauce is ready to go? Took a while to get cocktail sauce and lemons. Food itself was great! Fries were hot and a ton of shrimp. Fish and chips came with two decent sized pieces of fish. Our drinks were never refilled and service was clunky. But again I blame the manager for not helping and leaving our waitress out to dry. Inside was clean - dining room along with bathrooms.

It's not Lafayette but I had no issues with the taste, quality and service. I must of come at a good time. I would return if I'm in the area. Old images of Detroit on the walls. Flattop and booths.
