The 6 or 7 craft beer cooler doors in this somewhat claustrophobic wine shop are filled with awesome choices, focused mainly on California craft and European offerings. I understand their beer distributor is Stone, which explains the many great choices. Staff is friendly and helpful. Beer prices are in line with what I expected. I walked in looking for one specific beer and left with a $60.00 haul of stuff I hadn't expected to find. I will definitely visit this place again! read more

Pete has been the best source for wine and spirit advice I have found in the last 15 years. It doesn't matter if it's great Cabs, rums, Syrahs, Vodka, Craft beer or other wine/liquor; they have never steered me wrong. They have a much more sophisticated inventory than the chain stores and I usually get a heads up months if not years ahead of the pack when a truly great new winery or vintage within a label comes out. If you need hard to find small case runs, they have it. If you need restaurant-centric labels that you can't find in stores, they can usually get it (if it's not already on a shelf). If you're serious about high-end wines and spirits, this is your only stop. read more

Simply put if your a fan of craft beer this is the place, from the oh so hip beer of the day IPA's to small independent German lagers LW&S has about as good of a selection your likely to find at this end of the SF valley. I have always been treated with respect and always welcomed into their shop at every visit, those I've come in contact with have been very helpful and knowledgeable of the beers they choose to stock. This is the best little WINE store in the valley. Owners know wine and can make great suggestions. Amazing selection of hard to get wine. I happened upon this gem several years ago; and it has become my go-to for great wines at a great price & great advice. Peter is the best. Every recommendation he suggests is a winner. He will even show me a wine at a much lower price than the one I want (but isn't in my budget at that time). That kind of service is unheard of in my experience. But wait, there's more...if I want a wine Peter doesn't have and it is gettable, he will get it for me. That's why I don't mind driving a 1/2 hour or more to shop here. read more

Pete and Steve are incredible...as is their store. These guys took care of bar services for corporate events that I arranged. They always did a great job, at a great price. This place is awesome. They have a great selection of really good beer. From IPAs to sours, I always spend at least 10 mins looking through all the good stuff. I've been shopping at Liquid for nearly 14 years. I consider this place one of the best wine stores in LA. Their selection is vast and varied. Because not too many people know of the shop, they have wines that most stores don't. Pricing is more than fair. I have yet to see them raise their prices on wines after a great review, as other stores have done. I remember on one of my first visits long ago, buying three '95 Turley's for under $20 bucks each, when others were nearly double that. Still the same respect for the customer today. *Hint: go get yourself some library wines without the library price! Pete (one of the owners) might come across rough around the edges at first, but the man knows his wine, is fair and is a no-nonsense kind of guy. He has recommended many a wine based on what he has learned we like and he hits the target most every time. Steve (another owner) is great and has been equally as helpful. They have also arranged tours and meetings for us when we travel to Napa or Sonoma's most prized wineries. Talk about service! We moved to Valencia a few years ago, so we are no longer close to the shop, but we try to stop by whenever we are in the area. Just this last weekend we dropped by. It was like we never moved. Pete took the time to talk with us on the latest offerings and made suggestions on our likes and budget. There are other good stores in the area, but I recommend you make Liquid a regular stop for your wine needs. read more

It's nice to actually go to a place that is truly knowledgeable about wine, beer, and liquors. They have a great selection, and I have tried and trusted their recommendations for wine pairing with food. And even beer/food pairings. What's great about this place is that they are educated, and there's even a sommelier on staff which is way more helpful than the careless minimum wage employee that can be found at places like bevmo.
