Ok, if you just need a drink. Parking lot can fit as many as 4 cars at once! I could not find anywhere to park within 2 blocks. . . but the hookers were nice and pointed me to a spot that was relatively safe. I love my dive bars. I go to a fair number of them. I have gone to Liquid Zoo a few times in the past couple of months because it is near my girlfriend's house and, I like dive bars. First time was an ok experience, the next time sucked -- ok, we all have bad days. Third time was worse. So, I have come to the conclusion that Liquid Zoo sucks. Drinks are overpriced (Not Hollywood pricey, more Ventura Blvd Pricey) Service is slow and rude and it was NOT busy. It was as if the bartender was already happy with the existing patrons and just didnt want any more... The Karaoke is decent. Many of the customers rock! This is as divey as a dive bar can get. Bartenders (Audrey is awesome) are very friendly, heavy handed with the pouring. I have had the most soul-riveting convo's here with random people. What a cool Cozy Place! The owners are so Cool and friendly. The bar is intimate and comfy! The drinks are VERY affordable. The various shows are fun! I've been to a few shows by DJ Astro138 and they are Rockin! And Im especially excited for Dec.15th for Reverend Martini to put on a show there. I got to all her shows andViva Las Vegas, Ventura Nationals and now she's going to do shows here once in awhile too! While I agree with the common theme of it being a bit pricey for what it is, I don't see why Bartendress Mia is getting so much hate on Yelp. She has always been cool to me, and I've never seen her disrespect any other customers. She has a difficult job. I got nothing but love for her! There's karaoke a few nights a week and the bar tender Mia is amazing: she's always trying to come up with new ways to make each night special, remembers your name and what you like to drink, and stays friendly even when it comes down to business. While I use Yelp all the time to get the lowdown on places, this place is so terrible, I felt I had to start an account just to warn people off of this place. I don't know if there's some of these posters are on payroll for this establishment, or if I made a wrong turn and ended up in someones basement bar, but it was literally the most classless, characterless, and just plain dirty dive I've ever seen. And not the "good" kind of dive. The service was horrible, the karaoke was at a deafining volume, and the bar was full of meth addled wrung out people who sit at the barstools and stare at "them new folk" while belting out wretched country western tunes. The cocktail "waitress" was straight up rude (when she wasn't busy letting herself be pawed by the toothless 'regulars'), the bar itself was dirty, sticky and unsanitary. Also they put a $2 surcharge on any credit card transactions *which is illegal and contrary to any merchant agreement with Visa or Mastercard, and is explicitly stated in any agreements* So the sign was photographed and sent off to the appropriate merchant services departments, so hopefully that little bit of fraud will come to an end, soon. read more

This is definitely not the place to come with a group. There is barely any seating on Friday and Saturday nights (the karaoke nights) for one or two people since this place is so small. So if you're planning to go, prepare to be standing most of the night. The karaoke list is pretty good but the croud isn't as supportive of the performers as other local karaoke dives. This place blows. What a shithole. And talk about DEEP valley. Why would anyone drive up here or live up here?!! I mean people knock the valley, but this is DEEP valley. On the super up north. The "open mic" sucked on a level that defies description. And I have seen TONS of shitty comedy. Earl S ran the show and he's hilarious, but he couldn't even make this place good. Okay this is going to be a review to end all reviews. I used to go to this place a couple years ago. That was back when Audrey and Mia we're running the show in the night time. As long as you were not a moron, and showed a little bit of decency and class, and weren't broke because hey, it's a bar and is there to make money, not lose it, you had a good time. I even pulled some dumbass moves (we all do when we're highly inebriated), and STILL both Mia and Audrey forgave me and took my business (believe me, I almost lived there for awhile). Even the ownwer, Precilla, called me a "gentleman". I knew all the daytime and nighttime bartenders by name, got along with all of them, and basically had a good time with both staff and patrons. I enjoyed playing pool with Mike in the daytime, and customers/bartenders/owner would go out of their way to serve food (this still happens). Bear with me, my argument needs reference. So, they hire a new bartender named blah. Granted she may be nice, but she is the type of person to carry a grudge, as I will state forthrightly. In one of my many inebriated states (which, I have afforementioned, we've all had a few), I in all my wisdom basically told her to f*%k off when she refused to serve me and told her to cash me out (I was running a tab, which she initiated). She told me to "not be like that", basically wanting me to sit at a bar and drink water (who does that?). And the reason I was livid was that, in all fairness yes, I was slightly shoshed, but I was ambulatory like a bastard, and a friend of mine (female) told her to not give me any more alcohol. Not that I was drunk (although I was almost there, the buzz was fantastic), but she took it upon herself, without forethought or investigation, to refuse service to a known patron on the advice of someone she hardly knows. Let me ask all of you, is this the type of person you want serving you? Someone who is not only incompetent, but also is so vindictive as to have you banned from an establishment that you've frequented longer than she's been employed at said business, and even the owner, who calls you a "gentleman" to your face, takes the word of an employee she's known a bare fraction of a time to uphold said banishment? If you're just looking for a drink, by all means, go to the Liquid Zoo. But if you're looking for an establishment with some integrity, go somewhere else. read more

Soooo I came in on this late night around 1:15 last call is 1:30..bar tender outside smoking cigarette knows the timing here...lol...I was told cash only...looks like they closed everything down slightly early...was told to walk to ATM at gas station for cash..."WELL" looks like someone wanted to go home..."who cares about the customer" after spending 3.00 at ATM at gas station..3.00 non bank fee 6 dollar total before a drink..."there goes most of your tip" I come in at 1:20 order a drink. She pours a drink and runs out just short of the pour...oooops!!! NO MORE? What are you going to do now I'm thinking?...she gives it and charges full price! Okay...strike 2 now...finish the short drink 1:29. Staff is just pacing the bar not knowing they were going to get a customer " obviously had other plans" I ordered another drink jack n coke...only because she ran out of my first one...smh!...on the delivery sneezes all over the place ..YIKES. Thats my drink you sneezed on "no washy handsy" so unsanitary...she puts my drink down..and snorts her sneeziness. "Dayquil ? Maybe? Staff just pacing wanting to leave. I came out of texas to work in Van Nuys for a short time and ended up being there for almost four years off and on. I found a home away from home at the zoo. Don't worry about the neighborhood. All the regulars are great people, the owner included. They made me welcome, and being gone almost three years, I miss the good friends I made there. My opinon, the best bar in L.A.
