We are new to the neighborhood and thought we would give it a try. It was not crowded, but had a steady stream of customers. My husband tried the garlic triple delight and I had the walnut shrimp part of the family dinner that comes with an egg roll, cream cheese won-ton, and chicken wing, and soup. Our little girl had the fried shrimp. The soup, and egg roll were fresh and hot. I'm not a fan of cream cheese won tons but my husband and daughter gobbled them up. The chicken wings were okay but not great. The food was pretty good. The highlight of the eating at Li's was Li herself. She was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I hadn't had Chinese food in about five years, but after coming from a tattoo session, my adrenaline was telling me that I needed food and I needed it NOW. Luckily, my friend had visited this spot weekly while back in college, so he knew the place to get your fix. The place was completely empty just before 2pm and the owner was sitting at a table reading the newspaper when we came in. She made friendly conversation with my friend who used to be a regular as she showed us to a table. Not ten seconds after seating us at a booth, she returned with water and tea. Now, I'd only had Chinese take-out before, so this was new to me. She gave us our menus and left momentarily. As placemats, there were paper Chinese zodiac thingamajigs and my friend and I had fun finding our animal, matching it to our personalities, and matching up other people we knew. In no time the owner returned asking what type of soup we wanted (I believe there's three or four choices and I had completely spaced the fact that we had to order so I gabbled out something like, "Er, hot--wonton, yeah." There were two chewy wontons floating in the broth, which tasted like chicken noodle broth and I slurped it up while finishing reading the calendar. I'm a sucker for sesame chicken (though I wouldn't say no to orange), so I ordered a massive plate of the stuff plus steamed rice and took to it with the appetite of someone facing a ten-year famine. Maybe it was because I hadn't indulged in Chinese food in so long, but it was all absolutely delicious and filling. Since we were the only ones in the restaurant, the owner came back to check on us often enough while sitting nearby, chatting with a waitress. A fortune cookie apiece ended the meal, which came out to around $14 for two. (~$6.99 per meal from 1-3, I think), and we tipped generously. I can't say what this place is like during busy hours as far as noise and service, but it was amazing while we were there with modern music playing, but not too loudly. No complaints whatsoever, and I'm already planning to take my little brother there since he, being allergic to nuts, has just recently discovered that he CAN eat peanut oil and has found that he loves Chinese food. read more

There are so many wonderful reviews, I had to try it. The steamed dumplings are out of this world! Stuffed full of filling and wonderful flavor! Their wontons were pretty good too. This restraunt was recommended by a co-worker of my husbands and I am happy to say it absolutely lived up to my expectations (actually higher ). I am not a lover of Chinese take out, but my husband loved Chinese food, since we have kids and rarely go out, take out occasionally is our comprise. I truly loved my dinner tonight. The food was obviously fresh and cooked well, and not the soggy over seasoned mess I have had the unfortunate occasion of having at so many other places. I love that they are no MSG and they toute a healthier menu. They even were willing to make an item for my husband not on the menu next time. I have been looking for a good Chinese place almost 2 times a week since I moved to Denver here a month ago. Either the food sucks (almost always, or the service is horrible.) I haven't been to this Li's yet, but I ordered from Li's Asian Bistro and accidentally called this restaurant to check on my delivery (blonde moment) But, the woman who answered told me who I was probably trying to get a hold of, was extremely sweet, and CALLED ME BACK about 10 minutes later to see if I found what I was looking for, and if I didn't that she could get delivery out as quickly as possible. I mean talk about customer service! If I didn't just have Chinese for dinner I would seriously be going here tonight. I'll edit the review once I taste the food, but easily the best service from a Chinese place I've dealt with so far! Update: the food is good too!!! read more

went in on a Saturday nite, husband and I, we ordered the pupu appitisers and got the worst disappoint , the beef strips were way over cooked, they burnt up as soon as you put them on the little fire pit, frozen shrimp, burnt chicken wings, wonton soup was sitting in instant beef soup broth, very distasteful , and the rest was sub par as well, lomein was, and the chicken in the cashew chicken was crunchy, had to get up and leave. We order takeout at least twice a month. The food is always consistent. Fresh, well prepared, not greasy. Best of all the family who owns this restaurant is great, they truly want you to have a great dining experience. By great dining experience I mean, they treat you like your in their home. When our newborn son was crying and fussy the owner carried him around the restaurant so my wife and I could enjoy our meal, and it wasn't so other patrons wouldn't be bothered, we were the only ones in the restaurant. We live less than a mile away, and had never eaten at Li's.....that was a big mistake on our part! A friend recommended them, and we have done take-out twice in the last two weeks - Outstanding food, and a friendly service! I highly recommend the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, and my daughter recommends the Orange Beef! Don't let the fact they are located in a strip mall scare you off - the inside of the restaurant is neat, clean and attractive. There was a group of 13 eating there last time we went to pick up our food, so they can easily handle large groups as well as parties of one. read more

Boo on Carl S. You can't review a place years after you have had it, things change in life. I happen to love Li's as does everyone I have ever met. I thought it was my little hidden gem but more and more I found out everyone has been eating it behind my back. There ratio of meat to veg is fantastic in all dishes and I haven't found one yet I didn't enjoy. The only downfall is the rice that comes with your order is nothing special. I can easily fix that problem by having them upgrade it to pork fried rice, which is stellar. The dinner menu gets a little pricey for Chinese, but if you stop by for lunch the amount you get for what you pay is well worth it. Plus I like that I have been there enough that they recognize me, I don't know why I like that so much but I do. read more

Ordered there for the first time last week. Had Mongolian Beef, Hot & Sour soup, and rice. The best part was the rice. The soup was starchy, tart, and unseasoned. I threw it away after the first bite. The Mongolian beef really should have been listed as Mongolian greasy onions. The beef that was in there was bland, stringy, and chewy. No flavor at all, nor any spice. Very disappoint that the plates are $10 a piece and do not include soup or an egg roll. I'm happy to spend that on good Chinese food, but $10 for poor quality food plus an additional $2 for terrible soup and a good egg roll is too much. The quality is equal to what you'd expect at a 5.95/plate restaurant. My fiancee had the low mien and wonton soup, which weren't much of an upgrade. First and last visit. Oh, and perhaps the molding oranges in the display and the coy tank that looks like it hadn't been cleaned in a year probably should've been my first indication. read more

I am a Chinese food addict. The first time I went to Li's in 2008 I didn't know what to expect. The outside in a strip mall...Well we all know that some of the best places to go don't put crazy efforts in exterior appearance. When I went in Li greeted me with a smile and seated me. I read the card about the chef and my eyebrows raised when I saw his background. I ordered the Jin Jiang Pork. When Li brought me my soup "hot and sour" it was perfect. Then she served my entrée shortly afterwards. When I saw the presentation my eyes lit up and when I took my first bite, my perspective about what truly great Chinese Cuisine is, changed. I think judging Chinese food based off of carry out is difficult because .. Well it's smashed in White Boxes and Tupperware like plastics. Go in person and meet Li and sit down for while. You will then understand why I choose to eat here over any other Chinese Restaurant when possible. read more

To really simplify things, there are basically Americanized Chinese restaurants and more authentic Chinese restaurants. Li's is more of the former. Which is not really a bad thing! At Li's you get all of the Chinese dishes that you can get at any standard Chinese restaurant but Li's always appears to be prepared a little fresher and tastes a little better. Li's does have a few menu items which aren't on the menus of other Chinese restaurants so you have an option of ordering something other than the standard dishes. But as far as standard Chinese restaurants, whenever I have a craving for this sort of food Li's is the only place we go! Oh, the service has always been great! read more

PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE! You will get sick. If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would! I have never had service like this. The owner Li was rude to me on the phone, after I had told her our food had slime on it. Yes slime. She said it's the sauce that hardens after 20 minutes. Have you ever heard of that? Me neither! Then when we asked her if we could bring the food back to the restaurant she said don't do that you can just throw it away. We then asked her if we would get a refund as we spent over $30. Of course she said no, and HER EXCUSE WAS THAT in her 18 years of working there, she has never had a bad review. And she refused to give any kind of credit or refund. Even if we were the only customers in the world to dislike her food.... the service was unacceptable. I never right reviews. Literally never. And this was just the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. I worked in the food industry for 9 years and this doesn't need to go unnoticed. Save yourself some money. Please. read more

ordered s combo lomein and crab cheese wontons... Man was I disappointed... The lomein was the same quality as the $1 scoop ho ho's... And the wontons didn't even have the imitation crab meat... The delivery guy couldn't find my address and I live up the street... So horrible, it was hilarious... Over all, not as good as I thought it would be,from reading some of their reviews... However, this was my first time and I might have just caught them on a bad night, so I'll give it one more yet try and we'll see how it goes... I discovered this fantastic establishment hosted by the most charming owner Li, who together with her renowned chef and husband Jiang when first moved to Westminster in 2002. I would recommend every dish they have as chef Jiang has extensive experience cooking in China as well as here. I personally like the sesame chicken and the lo mein. read more

A friend took me to Li's for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. I had the moo goo chicken and it was light and delicious. It is cheaper than other Chinese places I have been to and the brown rice is available at no additional charge. I've never seen that before. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.
