There was already mixed opinions before walking into the cafe among my group. I convinced my party to try it out, and we went to the cafe at 11. We were told to wait by the side of the building until a hostess would sit us, so we waited around 20-25 minutes for her to get to us. We continued to wait, and got our table. We sat at this table for over 20 minutes without being asked what drinks we wanted. I thought maybe they were backed up on orders, or they just having a bad morning. Waiting a bit longer, the lady who sat us, was walking around the outdoor area asking everyone how there food was while my table had not ordered our waters. Came here for breakfast with the family while we were vacationing. I ordered an omelette and my wife and kids ordered various specialty pancakes. Overall the food was pretty good, omelette was stacked with fillings. The blueberries in my wife's pancake were big and juicy. The only downside on the food was toast that was very dry and felt like perhaps the bread might have been stale. Of all the things to get wrong, toast is an odd one. Really, though, the rest of the food was great, and I would generally give four stars for the food, but the price-point was way higher than you would expect for breakfast at a greasy spoon. This review is more about Lisa or whoever's the manager was that not only extremely rude and nasty but actually pushing the misguided notion that her patrons needed to be masked up outside on the veranda, as if in 80 degree sunshine the virus will attack you standing up outside but not sitting! I actually left NY because of the draconian measures taken last year regarding covid and even in NY they have relaxed regarding wearing masks outside. My issue isn't so much the rule but how vehemently Lisa or whoever blasted us when we entered the restaurant maskless. Well me and my boyfriend quickly stepped outside and she blasted us loudly, enough for the other compliant sheep at their tables to hear that even outside we must wear a face diaper until we are seated. Well the few standing outside that never entered the restaurant like we did quickly covered their face as they were in breach. As we left we let the crowd know this is in fact Nazi Germany. This is Florida, But sadly DeSantis does not run Pinellas County. Fear mongering had taken over this lovely resort town. We stopped in for brunch today and the moment we walked in we were promptly greeted by the wonderful owner, Lisa, herself and she let us know the current specials and cocktails. I had the crab cake Benedict and it was hands down the best I've ever had and I grew up on the Gulf coast. My husband had the breakfast burger and he hasn't stopped talking about it. Wonderful place for brunch on the beach. We have been coming to Lisa's for many years and on top of the food being wonderful, the staff and owner are like family. They are kind and funny and always go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. I was present when a diner who, recently posted a bad review, had a rough time. He had lost his credit card and thought he has left it at this restaurant. He came back, pulled into the parking lot, blocking in other patrons, and jumped out of the car. He went inside and began screaming and cursing at the owner immediately. She explained she didn't have the card, but did ask him to leave if he was going to continue cursing and screaming i front of other guests. She was patient and never threatening toward him but obviously shaken up at having been confronted by this lunatic who did nothing but scream obscenities while he was escorted out. I found this cute little cafe by chance on February 8, and had the most amazing Bloody Mary & Irish Eggs Benedict. Staff was friendly and The food was worth the wait! I RAVED about this place to my boyfriend who flew down on the 10th and I went back on February 12, and it was the complete opposite of my previous experience. The owner was exceptionally rude! Her staff was directing us to the door to wait, and the owner yelled at us to stand outside. So we did. Then, one of her servers told us to wait on the walkway. When Lisa came out, she asked if we were stupid, and told us to go out by the benches. Then she proceeded to talk down about us to other patrons eating on the patio. I've never experienced such horrible service! Needless to say, we left and had a delicious brunch down the street & spent our money where it was appreciated.
