they sell out. regularly. that should tell you everything. Friday and Saturday only, 11am til its gone, and people show up knowing that and come anyway. I was one of those people last Saturday and I completely understand the loyalty now. got the 2 meat plate, brisket and ribs, with sides. the brisket had that smoke ring, that deep color, the kind of bark on the outside that you only get from doing it right with real wood. not gas, not shortcuts. actual BBQ. the ribs pulled clean off the bone without being mushy. both were exactly what they were supposed to be. sides were housemade and good. nothing felt like an afterthought. its inside Peacock Market in Clovis which is a fun setup, kind of a hidden gem situation. the prices are beyond fair for the quality, a 2 meat plate for $20 is genuinely a deal when the meat is this good. go early. follow them to know when they're open. and don't be the person who shows up at 4pm wondering why its gone. I want to give this a 5 star rating, I really do! But the lady in the phone was SO rude that I can't. I ordered over the phone and came in to pick up my food. The rude lady told me 20 min, but I got there 10 min early and it was just sitting on the counter already for who knows how long. I'm a super polite person so there's no need to be passive aggressive to me, especially if you work somewhere people are paying money at. Anyway, I paid and took my order home. I got 1 pound of tri tip for $24. My husband and I shared it for lunch and we were satisfied. The meat was so juicy, tender, and flavorful! I was really impressed! Miguel and Lisa never dissapoint! I had their pulled pork slider at an event, and it was fantastic. PULL PORK SLIDER :: The pork was tender and juicy, topped with perfectly seasoned creamy coleslaw. The barbecue sauce taste like their own recipe. It was the star; lightly sweet, tangy, and fruity, with a hint of Miguel's famous signature smokey salsa flavor that made every bite stand out. The coleslaw on the sandwich was amazing too. The salad was fresh, flavorful, not too sweet, and well balanced. The juice just drips off from your sandwich. CINNAMOND ROLLS:: They were so sweet and generous! Even treated everyone to complimentary cinnamond rolls. The rolls were also amazing too! It's fluffly, lightly sweet, and had the texture of fresh baked bread rather than being overly gooey. OVERALL :: Overall, great food, generous portions, and wonderful hospitality. Came in today not knowing what we would run into since it's inside a market. But like they say the reviews don't lie, anyways we were hesitant due to the outside but once we walked in we noticed they had bbq and Mexican tacos and some crepes.Anyways the food is delicious we ended up ordering 2 lbs of 4 meat and2 sides we got coleslaw and Mac n cheese. We drove today from Northwest Fresno to Clovis to try this new BBQ place first off the family running it was very nice. They gave my wife a sample of potatoe salad and Mac n cheese. Very nice gesture. The good items Corn Bread was really good taste home made, Mac and cheese with Gouda very good. Greens were tender and seasoned perfect. The chicken was cooked perfect with good smoke flavor. Now unfortunately the bad, my wife ordered a Po boy shrimp Sandwich and it was under cooked smelled fishy and was not cooked all the way most Po boys are fried this was grilled but not long enough. Things happen and this is a easy fix. We will be back as Lisa family is so nice and we want to support local business. read more

Awesome! Both please! She said it would be ready in 10 min I told her coming from Fresno, it could be later & she said 15-20. Arrived to the GREAT Peacock Market. Went to Miguel's area, let worker know. Greeted and order was ready & waiting. Paid for it and workers were kind. Received & go. Smells GREAT!! Lunchtime! Order split. It's been 40 years since I stepped in this building. Today I did and it was the best decision I've made in years. We were greeted by Lisa at the register who helped us decide on our lunch choices. After a very short wait our lunch arrived and man oh man was it good. Lisa's chicken sand and the tri tip sand were the first victims to be devoured in a matter of minutes. The red beans and rice were delicious and corn bread was out of this world. The sugary glaze on top of the corn bread was great! Back to the sandwiches now. The med rare tri tip I requested was on point. Cooked perfectly. The chicken on Tammy the Tornados sandwich was the most tender perfectly cooked we've ever had. And folks, we've had a lot! If you go here for bbq you are in for a treat! When we walked in we were greeted with a smile and answers to all our questions about the menu, the staff is friendly and welcoming, it was so nice. The tri tip sandwich is fantastic,, first the roll, it was toasted to perfection so fresh...juicy tri tip, grilled onions and a delicious slaw. Well we didn't stop there... we had to try the sides, collard greens were amazing with plenty of bacon in them, potato salad was really creamy and very tasty last but not least...red beans and rice it was really amazing flavor!! Service was quick and friendly on a Sunday afternoon! Wanted to love the food and the tri tip was good, but the ribs were not as tender as we expected and had too much rub. The cornbread was rich and crumbly, the tri tip and pulled pork tender, the collard greens hot and tangy, and the slaw nice and refreshing. While waiting to order the husband greeted me and offered me samples and spoke enthusiastically about the restaurant. While eating I overheard the story of how the husband and wife use a particular cooking style carried through their family and that the current restaurant serves to honor their family's legacy. Lisa Southern. It was a mix review for me for sure. I got the three meat combo with Ribs, Chicken and Tri Tip. The meats were well seasoned for sure, but for around 28/29 dollars for 2 sides and 3 meats, it was not fulfilling. I only got one piece of chicken thigh, 4 slices of tri tip and 2 ribs for the protein. The Mac And Cheese was not for me personally bias, but the potato salad was good. It was also very warm in the store, so it made eating kind of uncomfortable. All in all, I think it is worth coming to try for yourself for there are lots of other things to try. read more

The Red Beans & Rice were wonderful & a unique option from most other places. The house-made BBQ sauces are very good, just be aware that even the mild one has a decent kick to it, so if you're a spice wimp like me, maybe opt for the Sweet Baby Rays. Thank you Lisa for the wonderful food and service. I typically don't like eating BBQ food, not because it's not good but it's just not my favorite type of food. But, throwing the southern flare on it, has me rethinking how I feel. We had chicken, tri-tip, sausage, ribs, slaw, beans and rice, Mac n cheese and that unforgettable cornbread. They didn't have the half chicken so we got all thighs, which was okay, cause the flavor was delicious. Now the ribs, I have to say were the star of the protein section! The tri-tip had a peppery type marinade that gave it a ton of flavor. The sausage was bursting with juice and flavor, and had some onion and bell pepper with it. The slaw was different for me, it had minimal sugar, which for me is good, but for those that like that sweet flavor you might be slightly disappointed. The rice and beans combo was far better than I imagined! The beans were so tender, I'll need to come back for more. The mac n cheese was creamy goodness that would be impossible not to love. Now, the star of the show for me (I love sweets) was that phenomenal cornbread that I wish I could eat every day. I don't know what was on top but it almost was cake-like! Also, their homemade bbq sauce was spicy dipping deliciousness. The portions of the proteins were very generous, the sides were smaller but still enough to get you full. I got a half rack of ribs to go, along with some bbq sauce, which I believe they labeled as basic (very good, tasted like Sweet Baby Ray's). The ribs were very good, not great. The cost was $20, about what one would expect. The server was pleasant and I got my order within a few minutes. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and it was legitimately the best pork sandwich I've ever had. The meat is tender and delicious, even on its own. And then the house made BBQ sauce was delicious too!
