    Chef 's Salad
    Sarah I.

Loved it! A small, unassuming, family owned cafe that has been around for about 25yrs. I have seen photos for years of the food they make and it always looks delicious. Finally today I made it there. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. They were pretty busy when we arrived around the noon hour. They have a nice menu offering a variety of options to suit everyone's taste. I ordered the tuna melt with fries and my boyfriend ordered the chef salad. The family that runs the restaurant were very pleasant and friendly. The food was delicious. We will definitely go back! I can't wait to try some of their homemade soups.

This is a perfectly serviceable family-run old style diner. Nothing fancy, just good basic home style food. I had a large chef salad, which looks exactly like everyone's photos. And it tastes like what I'd make when I was a kid, which in this case is a compliment. I was impressed that they gave me a brand new bottle of French dressing, which was way easier than squeezing a bunch into little cups. I'll definitely come back when I'm looking for simple good food. PS they are cash only, which I'm sure is one reason they can keep their prices so reasonable

We had to stop in and check out our new neighborhood cafe (not that the joint is new, we are new to the area). It's everything I wanted and more. The perfect greasy breakfast joint with no frills, delicious meals. I'm amazed how good the service was considering there was just the one waitress! Just be sure you're not in a rush. I tried the corned beef hash. Hash was good, not the best I've ever had (shout out to Mc Bob's) but for the price I cannot complain. My husband got the Polish sausage and it was delicious. We will definitely return. As others noted, it is cash only, so come prepared.

Old school diner with great service & food! I love the menu, it's simple - not overwhelming. The coffee is always strong and hot!

When I first pulled up to the building it was 7:30am, and they were open. But the windows somehow made it look dark inside, and I literally had to put my nose to the glass to see any activity. Otherwise I might have thought they were closed and kept going (special glass that cuts down glare inside?). Once inside there are several different areas for seating; the bar with stools, the front windows ledge with more stools, or the center area that has larger tables for various size groups. Lots of natural light from the front windows. The interior design, is a bit industrial, well lit, and welcoming. Things were neat and clean. Inside there was a short line to the counter which was right ahead. Took a few minutes to arrive at counter and order. Got a pleasant greeting and help with the order. I ordered the usual London Fog Tea Latte (little lavender, little vanilla, and extra foam). They didn't have much in the way of pastries/bakery. They were out of the Coffee Cake, but suggested the Apple Galette supplied by Miss Molly Bakery. They don't have the ability to warm up the bakery, which was a little disappointment. They took their time steeping the tea, which is a good thing. It came with a nice head of foam, had great flavor, and was the right temperature (148F). Texture-wise it could have been a little creamier. The Apple Galette was amazing. The crust was flakey and nicely sprinkled with course sugar. The apples had great flavor and were moist. The atmosphere was relaxed and most people were having quiet conversations. There's a very chill cat (Sugar) roaming around the place, and occasionally keeping people company. Not my favorite, but definitely a place that I would return to.

Tucked into the heart of Tosa, the location is on point. It's no wonder they're regularly busy and have such a welcoming and communal feel. The exterior boasts of beautiful murals, colorful and bright. As soon as I walked in, I was impressed with the atmosphere. All of the modern decor, lots of little things to shop for (by local vendors), a handful of tables to sit at and enjoy food/drink, and a friendly face at the register ready to check you in. I brought both my boys, 3.5 and 1.5 years old, and they had a blast. We booked a slot online ahead of time, which was very easy to do and came with a text & email reminder. When we showed up we paid for our entry ($11/kid for an hour) along with a latte for myself. I could not resist, given the drink options sounds darn good. And let me tell ya, the 'born to be wildberry shaken espresso' is something I need in my regular caffeine rotation!! As for the play area, I thought it was great! Plenty of space for kids of all ages. There were structures to climb, costumes to dress up in, blocks to stack, musical instruments to play, trucks & cars galore, and beyond. Oh and comfy couches for the moms/dads/caretakers to get comfy. All in all, a beautiful and safe place for littles to play! Also awesome: they host workshops, classes, storytimes, and other groups for parents and kids to get involved in. Unfortunately we live a tad out of reach for regular enough visits, but I'd imagine their membership is something worth looking into. I think what I appreciated most was was how community-centered Little Village feels. From the staff to the friendly moms & dad visiting, it was a vibe. Can't go wrong with a visit here!

I ordered a turkey salad that I think was called the green gobbler (but not 100%). It was a super robust and filling salad with turkey, craisins, hard boiled egg, tomato, carrots, onions, and croutons on a bed of spinach with your choice of dressing. I chose their ranch dressing which tasted fresh made. They have an assortment of canned and bottle beverages so I grabbed a bottle of water to go with the salad. Seating is anywhere within the North Avenue Market itself--so plentiful and comfortable. The service was kind and accommodating. You order at the counter and then they found us and brought our meals to our table. It looks like they also have a drive-up/takeout window which is great, especially for coffee on the fly! With two visits under my belt, I can say that I appreciate being able to walk from my residence and sit down in a very comfortable open, bright and, in the summer, airy location to enjoy a cuppa coffee or to get a bite to eat. I still have yet to imbibe at the Bittercube Bar, also inside the location, but looking forward to doing so in the near future. At Corners Café, I have been served with a smile and efficiency by both Evan and Jewel, both of whom are an asset to the business here. I suspect in the near future that the location will be popular and a bit more crowded than it is now; i.e.; early on both mornings that I've been here since the biz opened, I was one of only a few folks taking advantage of what there is to offer here.

Food: They have a large selection of breakfast pastries, including scones, cinnamon rolls, hand pies, and more. There are also some savory items, such as a rosemary biscuit. It was a tough choice, but when in doubt, I go for a scone, and they had a Maple Cinnamon one. I had it warmed up a bit, and it was delicious. These scones are not muffins in disguise, which means the texture is a bit drier and more crumbly--perfect alongside a hot beverage. For my drink, I ordered a London Fog Tea Latte. I was hoping to have it served in an actual ceramic mug, but those are only offered to customers who order drip coffee. That said, they made a very good London Fog, with a little extra lavender and plenty of foam. For my taste, it could have been a bit hotter. Service: Everyone who helped us was kind and helpful and gave us plenty of time to choose the perfect pastries. When ordering the London Fog, they explained how they make theirs and how they would add the extra lavender, which I appreciated. As mentioned above, they do not provide mugs for specialty drinks, using mugs instead to keep track of customers who have paid for bottomless drip coffee. I could bring my own mug from home, but I am not a fan of carrying around coffee shop essentials. Atmosphere: The building is nicely designed on the outside and sits on a corner with plenty of large windows that bring in natural light. It faces north, so you avoid the glaring morning sun. Upon entering, there is a short walk to the counter, where you can view all of the bakery and pastry items. A menu board above clearly displays the breakfast and lunch offerings, making it easy for first time visitors. There are numerous tables that accommodate small groups, and a fireplace with a couple of upholstered chairs offers a cozy seating option. Even after filling up with customers, the noise level was very good, and easy to have casual conversations. A nice visit and a place I would enjoy coming back to.
